Ridge Thai is one of the absolute best restaurants in Ridgewood! Appetizers Thai salad & golden triangles are awesome. ABSOLUTE BEST entrees are hai lum no meat and the coconut milk and peanut sauce with tofu. The staff is super kind and nice and the place is cute! The only draw back I'd say is that sometimes the service can get a little slow at peak hours. Highly recommend this wonderful local restaurant for anyone who LOVES Thai food!!!!! read more

Not a fan. I came in at lunch time and ordered the lunch Pad See Ew to go. The place was pretty busy and almost every table was full even though it was a little after 1 pm. Judging from the crowd as well as the reviews, I expected a solid meal. I was I unfortunately disappointed. Pad See Ew is something I love and I order it at most Thai restaurants. Normally, it has great flavor due to the sweet soy sauce and garlic. This one was really flavorless and had too much oil. One thing I didn't understand at all was that some noodles were completely white. Like no sauce or or browning at all. The noodles should at least be light brown due to the soy sauce and what not. Not sure if they added extra noodles later and they didn't add enough sauce but it was odd. I am normally hesitant about giving a place under 3 stars when I've only tried one dish. However, Pad See Ew isn't particularly difficult to make and also is a pretty standard dish so I don't think there is much room for error. The prices are fairly good- under $8 including tax for a pretty large portion. However I don't think I'll be back, at least for the Pad Se Ew. read more

How can you go wrong with a rice pyramid? I was impressed by the attention to 'show' at the restaurant. The menu is well designed with good graphics and well chosen typefaces. While the restaurant itself is small, it is comfortable and appealing. The food presentation is also great, each plate had its own rice pyramid and accompanying carrot garnish. Even the check came in a themed container. These little things tickle me (obviously) and make the experience magical! The only out of place thing was the Muzak. Featured artists included Jordan Sparks, Avril Lavigne and the like. How generic can you get ? I had some type of curry chicken dish and it was delicious. Mind you I'm not often a Thai food consumer. So I would at least say this is a good place to go for someone looking to try something new. read more

I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening and it was a bit of a struggle to find this place because the color of the building is so dull. Once inside, the place was a bit busy but we were seated immediately. We decided to order the Pad Thai with chicken and the Pineapple Fried Rice and share these two dishes because we were both craving each (Shh... I ended up eating the majority of both dishes). The Pad Thai had everything you expect in any Pad Thai: noodles accompanied with eggs, peanut crumbs, scallions, bean sprouts, and carrots with a nice kick in flavor. As for the Pineapple Fried Rice, I was pleased at how generous they were with pineapple chunks and it was also delicious. I personally preferred the Pad Thai to the Fried Rice but that's probably because I'm more of a noodle guy than I am a rice guy. In addition, I was also impressed by the plating of both dishes: simple, but definitely eye-catching and Instagram worthy. Service was average and there was nothing special or anything to complain about. However, my one complaint about this restaurant is that the inside is very dim. I don't know if it's part of their aesthetic but it took a lot of editing to end up with these (somewhat decent) photos. Overall, I recommend this spot if you're in the area and are craving Thai Cuisine or more specifically, Pad Thai. I will definitely be back again! read more

Ridge Thai - Pad Thai with chicken and the Pineapple Fried Rice. This was the best I could do in terms of editing because the place is so dimly lit. - Thai Near Me - Ridgewood, New Jersey

If the service weren't so rude here, I might be inclined to give 4 stars. But the servers were pushy about taking our order and quick to kick us out after we finished our entrees. We wanted dessert, but they didn't even bother to ask. I also felt like they just threw our food at us rather than serving us nicely. I considered saying the treatment we received was a combination of culture and the fact that this place was packed and had tight seating. But I've been to a gazillion other Thai restaurants so it wasn't a cultural thing. Also, our friends said they had been here at least 8 times and have gotten the same rude service each time. Yes, the place is tiny so I get that they want to keep turning tables, especially on a Saturday night, but there's a polite way to do that and a mean way to do that. These people do it the mean way. Obviously, the food is good or else our friends wouldn't keep going back. The broth in the Tom Yum soup was great, but the vegetables were a little too crunchy for my taste. The duck gra-pow was also delicious and probably in my top 10 duck dishes of all time, but not at all spicy, as advertised. I did have a taste of the coconut green curry broth. At least that had some heat to it. Delicious. The crispy banana fritters for dessert didn't do it for me. It tasted like something you would get in a Mexican restaurant, not Thai. But at least they didn't mess up the Thai iced tea. read more

I came here for dinner with my gf. We enjoy walking around and not have to worry about being mugged. There's so many dining options here that getting a parking spot is sometime very hard. We ordered and shared the sweet and crunchy noodle thing. My gf ordered the pad see u and I ordered the pad-ram pak. I bit the bullet and ate a vegetarian dish. Overall, the service and food was really good. I'd come back if boo boo insists. read more

BYOB. 5 stars. DONE! Their gang musaman curry is really good. Definitely recommend it! You'll need an extra order of rice for it though. Also tried their Pad See-Ew, and it was okay. A little mushier than I'd like. Nothing that impressed me. The place is quite small so if you're going during peak dinner hours, keep in mind that there are only a couple tables here.. read more

Food was decent, but not enough that I would come again to be treated poorly by the wait staff. The service is as terrible as the rest of the reviews here. I felt rushed. We were seated as if there was no problem, then about 15 minutes into the meal, they tell us that they "need this table" because another group was coming soon and wanted that particular table by the window and they placed the check on the table while we were eating our main meal. The rest of the restaurant was entirely empty as we were there on off-hours. We weren't even given the option of desert or coffee/tea. I would never visit again. read more

I have no clue why it took so long for me to update this review. I usually have the Hai Lum here. You can ask for some spicy stuff on the side (seems to be fish based.) All of the curries are amazing, especially the red shellfish dish from their specialties page as well as basically everything else. Full pot of tea for 2 bucks is nice as well. This is honestly my favorite place in Ridgewood along with Mekong Grill, good that they are on the same block. Waiters have gotten nicer and nicer. read more

June 2015 still 5 stars and even better. Everything so fresh and light. Upgrading to 5*. As before everything is so fresh and clean, not greasy or over seasoned. The curries here are my favorite, but pad Thai is a notch above many others. I also like the spring rolls - light, a bit tiny but they give you ample amount and very inexpensive. As for service - couldn't be nicer. Place still clean and well maintained too. read more

It has been years since I have visited with Ridge Thai and was so happy that we did. It is small yet quaint and very busy. We started with a classic, rice noodle that was such a nice flavor with basil, peppers, onions and broccoli with chicken as the selection of meat. Followed by green curry with Shrimp. We loved these little mushrooms that were so delicate and beautiful. We will definitely come back again! read more

Favorite Thai spot in the area! I'm always super happy with anything I order -- most frequently Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Panang Curry. My family had never eaten Thai food until I convinced them to order takeout from here, and they thought the noodle dishes were great. The portions are generous, and I always like to order a few different entrees and eat them family-style since everything is so good! This is also my absolute favorite place to order Tom Kha Gai soup -- it's perfectly tangy and refreshing. read more

I finally decided to give this place a try and I'm glad I did. My friend and I were craving some Thai food and we decided to try this place out. We ordered a shrimp appetizer which was delicious, it had a nice crispy crunch to it, it's very similar to shrimp tempura. I had a shrimp pad Thai dish and my friend had another dish which was flat noodles but I can't recall the name. The pad Thai dish was delicious and the shrimps were 5 nice jumbo size pieces. The interior of the place is really nice and it's a nice spot to take a date. The only small complaint is that they didn't ask if we wanted any desert or coffee, they just dropped off the check without asking if we wanted anything else. But that wasn't to big of a deal, they were at least on point with refilling my water so that redeems the service. But the next time I have craving for Thai food, I'll be happy to try the other dishes on the menu. read more

Just went here yesterday for lunch but it was the weekend so they weren't offering any lunch specials. I ordered Panang curry and my friend ordered Gang Ka Ree. I've always had yellow curry so i had to deviate away from this but to my dismay, the Gang Ka Ree that my friend ordered was extremely good. The Panang curry was okay, it was very herb-y and I suppose my taste buds weren't exactly fond of that. Our waitress messed up my order. I had wanted shrimp for the curry and instead I was given beef. I ate it anyway and decided to let it go. Nevertheless, the curry was delightful. I can't really tolerate spicy so it took some time to eat it but it was cooked well. My cousin ordered beef pad see ew. She liked it and I thought it was well seasoned. My other cousin was with us as well but I've forgotten what he had. We also ordered the Thai Bamboo Shrimp as an appetizer and it was thoroughly enjoyed. The sauce was fantastic! You should really try it :) The Thai Ice Tea was sort of thick, creamy and heavy. I like the fact that this restaurant is BYOB. We asked for some sake cups but they were more tea cups than sake cups. The interior is also nice, not tacky or anything. I'd come back maybe to try other things. And on a weekday too because their lunch specials are a lot cheaper :) read more

I have traveled to Thailand and within Thailand many times. Thai Cuisine is Fresh. "This was not" Thai Food is Balanced, "The pineapples were so acidic that they must have been a week old". The best pad Thai I've ever had. It's tucked away on one of Ridgewood's side streets and is definitely a hidden gem. It's small inside with about 6 tables, but decorated and really cute! The portions are pretty generous and the flavor is spot on. So far, I keep going back for the pad Thai, but I can't wait to go back to try something else next time. The wait staff was so kind and didn't rush our table AT ALL which is a problem I've had at other Thai restaurants in the area. I definitely recommend! read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant, a lot of cultural cuisines are great with flavors but Thai food achieves a balance of all the flavor profiles thats unmatched. Ridgethai is the best example of this I have ever had, Ive been to highly zagat rated, 5 star, new york city, etc places and have not had as consistently great Thai food as I have had from Ridgethai. I try to take everyone special in my life here at least once, the wait staff is always a pleasure and they've gone out of their way to accommodate dietary restrictions of friends as well, many times and without any fuss. Do yourself a favor and order any of their wide rice noodle dishes, the Tom Yum soup, and their dessert options. read more

Poor Service Bland Food Small Portions Not Thai Owned Or Operated If you take a moment to look around Ridge Thai you may notice a forced atmosphere that includes the illusion of proper Thai food as you turn the pages of the menu, so why doesn't this feel, look or taste right?!?!.... because it's Chinese! This place is just smoke and mirrors, the food is painfully unauthentic, the pyramid sculpted rice and ridiculous plates are a dead give away (baby corn, seriously?) now stop pretending and let me pick one from column A and one from column B, of course they do take out. And that's the fact Jack! BSE6 read more

What a difference one person makes! Without that loud mouth fatso, this little place was much cozier. That also made the food much more enjoyable. It also helps a lot that I brought the right wine this time. The laab, that's the thai salad with minced meat, lime, mint and perhaps fish sauce. It was delicious for my first mouthful. Once I pair it with the chateauneuf-du-pape I brought, it brought out the additional minty and floral taste and aroma in the wine. It was heavenly. This was the first time I had "beef" laab. It has always been pork. It doesn't look like Ridge thai serves any pork though. My pad thai didn't match the wine, but by the time I got to my entree, I was also done with the bottle.....all by myself anyway. It didn't stop me from enjoying this amazing pad thai. The food here is very different from my most favorite thai place of all time - 4 seasons in Piscataway, NJ. The food here is more delicate, restrained, sophisticated.....waiting to be prodded and explored in different ways. I'm bringing at least 3 bottles next time to get the right pairing for each dish. read more

Ridge Thai is seriously the thai place that I compare every other thai to and nothing else really compares. Comes close sometimes, but not quite. Everything we've had here has always been cooked perfectly and with tons of flavor. Siam Roll Golden Triangle Thai Salad Yum Goon-Chieng Laab Pad Key Mao (fave!) Pad Gra Prow (2nd fave!) and I could go on and on and on... Seriously, love this place. We go so often that the waitresses know what we want to order when we walk in. Service is always friendly and quick. Plus it's BYOB like the majority of Ridgewood so that's always a plus! read more

Food was mediocre at best, service was terrible. When we came in with a group of 7, the staff looked like they were about to sit down for lunch and looked disappointed that we were about to "ruin" their lunch plans. I am allergic to onions and specifically ordered something on the menu that didn't list onions. Sure enough, my dish came out with onions and the staff was not interested in correcting this mistake. I was given the option to have them "make the dish again without the onions" (which would probably have been them hand-picking out the onions) or to order a new dish and end up having to pay for both. read more

After reading some of the reviews here and wanting to try this place out for sometime, I finally had the opportunity to give the place a shot and they certainly did not disappoint. I was afraid of the service based on what I read from other reviewers but soon found out that it completely depends on who you get as a waitress. Our waitress was prompt and our meals came out in a timely fashion. We first tried the chicken satay ($7.95) and Siam roll ($4.95) for our apps. The chicken satay was very moist and did not bite back like dried overcooked chicken sometimes tend to do. The accompanying peanut sauce was smooth, sweet and perfect. The Siam Rolls could definitely use some seasoning and a little more punch in terms of the filling. This was one dish I wasn't particularly impressed with. I wouldn't order it again. For entrees, we ordered the shrimp Pad Thai ($12.95) and the fried whole red snapper with extra spicy curry paste and coconut cream sauce ($23.95 worth every penny!). Both fantastic. The fish was fried perfectly with crispy skin and moist fillet topped with delicious coconutty spicy curry sauce. It was as good as I've ever had at any Thai restaurant in the area (Wondees and Bangkok Garden in Hackensack to name a few). We brought with us a 2009 Ravenswood Zinfandel which actually paired well with the spicy dishes we ordered and would highly recommend if you want to stick with red wine. A Pinot Noir should pair well also. Would not recommend a Cab or Bordeaux with this type of food. Service-wise, we sat down at 7pm and apps were out by 7:15ish. Our dinner came out at 7:30 and we were out of there by 8:15pm. Bill: $53 not including tip. Will be back very very soon. read more

When Yelping restaurant or bar in Ridgewood New Jersey be prepared for the Cornucopia to hit the smart phone because there must be dozens upon dozens of restaurants and bars all smack dab in the middle of town all within a 3 to 4 block walk. Being pressed for time I had to call my old quick go to favorite Thai food. I love Tom yum soup $5, unfortunately their version is quite watered down and loaded with too many onions & mushrooms along with 2 slices of green & red pepper and 2 shrimp, really? I expect my TY soup to make my nose run this fell short even though I requested it spicy, fail. The Pad thai $9 however on the other hand was quite delectable, but only four large shrimp, dejavu? Succulent noodles very soft and very flavorful I asked for spicy and they delivered perspiration on my upper lip and forehead. As usual I requested some crushed red pepper on the side in case I wanted more and yes I wanted more heat, baby. Brewed green tea leaves @ $2 seeping in a charming tiny teapot a nice touch, but it always irks me to pay for tea. No limes? Service was ok and the place is clean, but very small with only 9 tables. No decor or music. Definitely noticed lots of take out. The rest of the the typical Thai dishes appeared to be available & priced well. Nothing extravagant. So to summarize for those keeping score at home: watered down bland soup a thumbs down, Pad Thai a staple in this culture a big thumbs up, but I noticed a lot of little frilly carrot garnishing on most of the plates really unnecessary and cluttered, average size portions, tea leaves, but super tiny pots, very little seating with no ambiance. I like this above average, but not exceptional place. read more

For the most part they serve a really great meal here. Personally I love the green curry here which is perfectly spicy and full of flavor. My wife loves panang curry which is very good as well, but since the green curry is so hit or miss at other restaurants I find this is my go to spot for my green curry cravings. The appetizer "siam rolls" are not very satisfying in my opinion but others may find them to be great. Oh did I mention BYOB! They are kind enough to bring you a small ice bucket to keep your whites cool too which I find is often disregarded in Thai places. The place is small so pick a table away from the door if it is cold out since it can get a bit drafty on windy winter nights. The tables by the front window can be a little drafty too but I was comfortable in a sweater. read more

I went here for lunch and was impressed by how good the food was. Just about the only complaint I can think of is that the Thai iced tea was a little bit too sweet for me -- but that's being picky; it was definitely delicious anyway. Food (4.5/5): I ordered the panang curry chicken (which, on the lunch menu, was only $7,95 -- a great deal considering there was plenty of food), which had just enough spice to give the food a bit of a kick, but not enough to overwhelm the taste. It wasn't the best I've had, but it was surprisingly close. My boyfriend ordered chicken pad see-ew, and it was pretty good as well, though I think that relative to how good each dish is at other places, I think the curry was more impressive. Service (5/5): We went at an awkward time (something like 3pm), and it was pretty empty -- just one other pair. Two small parties came in to get take out in the meantime. Despite the bitchiness of one of those customers, the waitress was quite polite and helpful. She also served us promptly and our food was prepared very quickly. Decor (3.5/5): This is a small restaurant -- probably about 10 tables in all. It doesn't look junky or anything, but it's definitely not fancy, either. It's pleasant as a lunch spot, and if you're not looking for something formal, then it's probably good for dinner as well (but I can't vouch for that since I haven't had dinner there). read more
