If ever there was a place that's truly a "neighborhood spot," it's this one. Many people in Draper don't even know it's here, let alone other people in Salt Lake County. If you're kind of scratching your head now, it's because you haven't made the trek up the hill at South Mountain to the neighborhood of SunCrest. SunCrest is a development at Point Of The Mountain, and while parts of it are new, the earliest residents claimed their plots almost 20 years ago. It's a gorgeous 'hood, and now is entering its full bloom--there's a neighborhood community center with a gym, a pool, churches, and finally enough population atop the mountain to support a small market and a cafe. The Ridge is the fulfillment of that planning, and is version 2.0 of the space. It was at first a small market that didn't really do much in the way of prepared foods. Now it's a cafe that serves from its beautiful Italian wood fire oven. The pizzas are the main attraction, but they do expand beyond that to salads, burgers, pasta, sandwiches and a surprising assortment of breakfast items. You also have a gelato (I think it's gelato, not ice cream, but I can't remember now... let's say frozen treats?) by the scoop, serve Starbucks coffee, and bake fresh goods for sale. There's also a little market here. Bigger than say, a convenience store, but not a full grocery store by any stretch. Milk, juice, things you've forgotten but don't want to run all the way down to the valley to pick up; this is convenience and you can definitely have a meal from what you find here. It's not hard to figure out who the clientele are: they are neighbors. Indeed, you have to know it's here and come on purpose.. very few people stumble upon it. They host special events from time to time, and in the times I've been in it's been surprisingly more busy than you would think, though not crazy. The space is gorgeous in the summer with the patio and THOSE VIEWS that SunCrest is famous for, and it's kind of sad to see the patio frozen in for the winter. They last extra long up here, but thankfully, SunCrest is above the winter inversion. In fact, that's reason enough to visit in the winter: to avoid the smog and muck below. There are a few hikes nearby--again, you have to be in the know about where they are--but they would make a lovely 1-2 punch. I imagine getting up on a Saturday (summer Saturdays are the best, don't you think?) and grabbing your BFF or spouse or someone you want to spend your Saturdays with, and hitting the trail. Spend a few hours in the fresh air, then drive back to The Ridge, order a pizza, then sit on the patio eating in the shade, looking at pics you took, or holding hands, or just knowing that you've discovered a little something-something that's just yours for the moment. read more

Pizza is good, other menu items are just okay, service is okay, ambiance is okay. If you are able to sit outside it's better. We do takeout since it's close and their pizza is good. I can't figure out their hours ever. They were closed for the spring and summer with no communication, and when their open it's seasonal for a few fours a day. read more

I love this place! Especially after a nice mountain bike ride around the area. The food is fantastic and the dining experience is intimate yet casual with the outdoor seating. Plenty of shady tables and they open the garage style doors to give the inside an outside experience too. We've tried a variety of food from sandwiches to pizza, wings, and French toast. On Saturday and Sundays they have brunch until 2pm. Today when we went; they took longer on the pizza order, so they brought out a cheesecake on the house for waiting. Great service. Our visit today was in a word disappointing. My wife and I came for our anniversary brunch and the food we got just didn't meet the mark I've become used to eating here. I chose the chicken fried chicken and that was the only highlight of our dining experience today. The biscuits, chicken and eggs together with the gravy were great, and I'd happily order again if it didn't come with the country potatoes. They felt like they had been cooked hours earlier, were cold, not even a hint of warm, and too stale to eat without drowning them in additional gravy I asked for. My wife ordered the Ridge Omelette and the best way to describe it was not well put together. The prosciutto was one big piece and was difficult to cut and enjoy evenly across the whole omelette. Same can be said for the artichoke and tomato since they were very large chunks that felt thrown in as opposed to prepared. The staff were fine, not overly friendly or conversational, but helpful. Beautiful atmosphere in a beautiful location. This cool place sits on top of the mountain at Suncrest. Gorgeous scenic drive up to it from Alpine with an awesome view of the Salt Lake valley. Inside was really pleasant and vibrant. Ice cream area, cafe area, and market area. You order and pay before you sit down. Workers were not very helpful at communicating the process. When you pay up front they have a place to put a tip. Really weird to tip before any service has taken place. Not a comfortable start. Food came out fast. I was told to get the Blanco Pizza and it was great! Really good white sauce with fresh dough cooked in their pizza oven. The ham and bacon were very dry and a little difficult to chew but I actually enjoyed it. Great complementing taste. My date had the Tuna salad and it was also fresh and prepared well. Felt like the food was a little too expensive. Employees brought our food and cleaned up after. Very kind. Other employees told us thanks for coming in when we left. Very friendly place. read more

I ordered a margherita pizza without basil (I know that I basically ordered a cheese pizza and I'm a terrible person for excluding the basil) and it definitely didn't disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. The sauce was savory with a hint of sweetness. The restaurant has garage doors, serving as windows, that can fully open and this allows a nice calm breeze to travel through the restaurant. Went last night for our letter R of eating the Alphabet. And this place is amazing! It's atmosphere is a mix between casual and classy. You could wear shorts or dress up and feel comfortable here. Picture water in wine cups, but your server is wearing shorts. Would be an awesome place for a teenager to take a date. It is a smaller place, but there is outdoor dining, but bring a jacket- as even in August it was a bit chilly outside way up on the Ridge. If you want a spot inside make a reservation! It was over a hour wait for inside, but we were seated immediately outside. They have small plates (appetizers), pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and salads. There is also a kids menu. The meals are in the $15-$20 range. We got the Buratta small plate- and my husband called it heaven in a skillet. We got the shrimp scampi and rigatoni to share -- both were so yummy! I came by on a summer afternoon and it was quite hot, not so breezy, but they had no cooling. It seemed no one had bothered to come up with some good system of fans. I ordered fish tacos which I thought would be healthy but then I realized the wait staff had not asked how I wanted the fish cooked. I got up to retrieve her and asked to please not fry the fish oily but it had already been done in an instant. The staff refused to change the order to grilled. Then she set the plate in front of me and was tart about it. I can see it is quality food but the oil on the breaded fish is not something I care to eat. I tried to cut off the coating but it pretty well bonded to the fish. She made it clear I wasn't going to get anything better than this. I did need to eat something and was short on time to go to a new place. I wasn't allowed to place another order. This amount of oil messes with my liver so it's really not a taste preference. I was hungry so I did eat it and it did have good flavor. It came with a nice salad which was fresh and good quality. I think in this part of the country the staff should know fish is ordered by people as a healthy option. At the end the waitress subtracted the cost from my check and her attitude changed. That was more discouraging to me because I would have liked to have ordered some grilled fish and had a nice lunch rather than having something inexpensive I don't want in my body wreaking havoc. I mean, you can look at the pictures and see it's a nice looking place so you go to have a nice experience, right? I did not get good service all around. I did not get enough ice for the heat of the day and the ice was the one thing that would have kept me comfortable without any cooling. The staff was very young and untrained, not a professional wait staff you would expect at such a place. The food was high end, gourmet, but with no management present and no head waiter I did resent being mistreated, and neglected, and being told what food choices to make. We used to love this place. The recent choice to only be open 2 days for a total of 8 hours and make the rest venue days makes it clear the new owner is way out of touch. He has made it clear that the friends he has with money take priority over the hundreds of households in Suncrest. It had so much potential and at this point most would rather it go under be revived as a more community oriented eatery. Royal on the Ridge- this is tough place to review because as Suncrest residents we really really want to like and support this restaurant. Their food unfortunately has left a lot to be desired. Our first visit since the revamp was the best. I had the shrimp pesto pasta which was good, almost as good as my own... and my husband had the sliders which apparently was just so so. Our crabcake app was pretty good and very meaty. We visited for lunch the second time and both of our sandwiches were extremely dry and bland. My husband didn't touch the side salad bc it was severely over dressed. We visited for dinner again this week and left disappointed once again. Our pork belly app was nearly inedible. We received barely prepped white cubes of fat. My lasagna with no sides was decent and I liked the herbs. My husband said his salmon was over seasoned and almost inedible. His salad was swimming in dressing yet again. Our bottle of wine was actually warmer than ambient temperature. On the plus side our son enjoyed his flatbread. First of all, this place is really nice to visit just for the atmosphere. Very cute place and the area it's in is nice with lots of trees, above the smog line, and a pleasant temperature as compared to in the valley when it's warm out. I've only tried it once and so it's hard to say how it is all the time but unfortunately our food was just under-seasoned. One of our entrees was the Ridge burger. I've seen reviews about the portion sizes being small. This is not true of the burger. This thing is huuuuuge. Very juice. But really lacking salt and pepper. The fries were really good. My friend ordered the fish tacos and a side of sweet potato fries. Okay, they call them sweet potato planks. These were also good. Once we added lime and salt, the tacos were quite good. Overall, I would definitely go back and try some other things. Brunch or breakfast up among the trees sounds so nice. read more

I hadn't been the this restaurant in a few years and it definitely has changed a lot since I last was here! It used to be more of a burger and pizza restaurant with the open garage doors and more casual, but when we got here tonight they definitely have made it more fancy! Prices were higher than usual because of this but it was a super fun atmosphere. For the next little bit, Wednesday nights are their live music nights so that was a lot of fun, and the place was decorated so cute for the fall! Leaves were hanging from the ceiling and it had such a cozy vibe. I wish they had another salad option, but we got the bruschetta and it wasn't what we expected but still super good! You cannot go wrong with any pizza, or the sandwiches are all great too! Not bad for a first experience! I recently went here with my in laws and it was pretty good! The service was slow, but the food did not disappoint. My father in law recommended the Ridge burger and backed it as "The Best Burger in Salt Lake", so naturally I had to see for my self. My wife kept it casual and ordered the nachos. The burger was near gourmet! The bun, the patty, the sauce, the melted cheese and the bacon were awesome! I was pretty impressed, although the bottom bun was a little soggy, as if it had been sitting for a while. (Soggy bun and all), it was very good. Now Is it the "Best Burger in Salt Lake", I don't know about that, but I sure won't argue with the father in law about it. So we'll go ahead and say it's definitely in the top 5! Now for the nachos, what a spread! They were super good and was enough to be my wife's main course and allow for 3 others to pick off her plate. I'd recommend getting a round of nachos for any occasion. 4 stars for a first time experience is my take. Could possibly be 5 stars if the service was better. I ordered food first in our party and was the last to get served. Even other tables who were seated and ordered after me got their food first. We had to ask the waitress two different times about the status of our food. I would like to see a little hussle from the staff next time. Wow! The food here is amazing! I came here Saturday morning and ordered from their breakfast menu: the chicken fried chicken biscuit and gravy. The chicken was extra crispy with all that gravy on top. The gravy was a little spicy, which I wasn't expecting, but it was a nice surprise. The biscuit that the chicken laid upon was also perfect: a little crunchy around the edges and soft inside. I think it was just soft because of the chicken and gravy. It's quite the drive up the mountain (3 miles), but it's worth it. I also ordered the regular house coffee and it was ok. Tastes like any other house coffee at diners. The view is gorgeous! I love seeing snow on the ground and on top of everything so that's what made it even more pretty! I was looking for a good place for pizza on a Thursday night and Yelp came up with this place. It was a bit of a drive but a great spot for dinner on a summer night. The Ridge is a cafe connected to a small grocery. You order and pay at the counter and they bring your meal out to your table. There were yummy sounding burgers, salads, sandwiches and more on the menu but I opted for the pizza I'd been craving. And a side salad. The food was delicious! I was very pleased with my selection and could have eaten the whole pizza in one sitting but I held off for my waistline's sake. The desserts and ice cream looked good so I'll need to try that next time. And I think there will be a next time. read more

We can here to celebrate my husband's birthday with some friends and it was lovely. When you get in your order, pay, get a number (which are numbered wooden spoons mounted on a block), find a table and wait to be served. The Ridge offers both inside and outside seating. The outside seating was cool and comfortable. They have buckets with hermetic water bottles that you can bring to your table...nice touch. Sadly, they also have wasps. I think a couple of wasp traps would be a great investment. It was a Saturday night and there was live music and it was very good. There were eight of us and between us we had the turkey dip, green chili burger, Ruben, not your momma's meatloaf, prime rib sandwich Philly cheese steak styled, and the Cobb salad. After dinner, we shared a sinful seven chocolate cake, rocky road brownie, cranberry pumpkin cake, and apple coffee cake. I wish I had taken pictures. The burger was very good with whole roasted green chilies. The Ruben had apples in that added a sweetness that paired well with the rest of the traditional ingredients. Our friends that had the turkey dip enjoyed it as well as the Cobb salad and meatloaf. The prime rib sandwich was a big hit too. Dessert was good. The cranberry pumpkin cake was really good, the rocky brownie was decadent. The sinful seven chocolate cake was SUPER rich... It needed a glass of milk. The apple coffee cake was dry and bland. Very shocking as everything else was spot on in flavor. We didn't get the pizza but the have a pizza oven and it looked delicious. The lasagna looked amazing as well.
