Took my vehicle in for knocking when turning. Took them a full month to finally diagnose. The mechanic claim that it was the rack and pinion. My extended warranty would not cover full cost because they said that this shop was trying to overcharge for parts and labor. So I took my vehicle to an actual dealership repair shop and they found that it was the CV joints, not the rack and pinion. This place is incompetent and scammers. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Avoid the stress. read more

Started going for my Audi until they charged me for oil leak in engine and did not properly diagnose or deal with it, including trying to fit a wrong sensor. Took it back and they still didn't fix the leak by not proper sealing it, also they literally melted the incorrect sensor to stop it falling out. Dealer fixed everything without issue for less than first charge. Avoid for European cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. read more

Got my car fixed for $34, after getting a quote from another shop for $1500 My story started with a flat tire, which I got from Discount Tire in Irving. The tire wasn't covered under warranty because of abnormal wear on the inner tire. They recommended that I get my alignment checked. I also had quite a bit of shakiness in my steering wheel when I got over 60mph so I decided to find a place to get my alignment done. I decided to go cheap and got a Groupon for my alignment at Valley View Car Care in Farmer's Branch. When I took my car to get the alignment they wanted to have someone test drive the car, then came back and told me I'd need to get my inner and outer tire rods replaced along with my front struts, quoting me around $1500 for the entire repair. I decided to get a second opinion from Rick's. Took my car in this morning and they called me back about an hour later letting me know it was fixed and I owed them $34. Sure enough my car is driving like a dream again. Apparently none of my tired had been balanced by Discount Tire. I have been going to Rick's for any of my major repairs for about 15 years now and they have never treated me wrong. I always get a straight answer, quick service, and a fair price. Also, I have never had to return to their shop to get the same thing looked at. They get it right the first time. I recommend to anyone I know to give them a try and I have yet to hear anyone have a bad experience with them, and I recommend to you reading this review to do the same. read more

This shop seems to be fairly honest and seems to do reliable work. However, I will probably not be using them in the future because I don't like to be overcharged. They fixed a tire for me at a reasonable price, but when I needed a spark-plug change they quoted a price that was almost twice what another reliable auto shop ended up charging me. For what it's worth, the price they quoted was well outside any average range I could find online, so it does seem that the other shop was not just low-balling. read more

Well, that's one too many issues to ignore. We used Rick's on Irving Boulevard from November, 2015, to March, 2018, to service and repair my daughter's 2002 Eldorado (and my Mustang). We won't be returning. Recently, Sewell Cadillac had to tighten a transmission coolant line to the Eldorado's radiator that Rick's replaced in April, 2016. The dealership mechanic said the line had not been tightened at all. Three quarts of transmission fluid had leaked out. Also recently, Discount Tire replaced the spare tire that Rick's replaced in June, 2016. Discount Tire said the tire was over ten years old based on the numbers on the tire. Rick's replaced the rack-and-pinion in October, 2017. A day or two later it came loose, the steering wheel spinning freely, nearly causing my daughter to crash in a parking lot. Rick's told us there was a bolt they hadn't tightened down. In March, 2018, my daughter told me there was a dashboard message for the air bag. Rick's determined that the clock spring had fail. This will happen if the steering wheel is turned too far, but Rick's would not take responsibility for it. Later, I discovered that the plastic cover under the steering column had been broken into multiple pieces and glued back together. I didn't say anything to Rick's about this because I had already stopped using them. The dealership replaced the cover with a new one. One of these issues taken by itself could be excused as a rare screw-up, but taken together, this seems to be a pattern of poor service, failure to inform (the broken cover) and failure to take responsibility (the clock spring). In one discussion at Rick's, I was told we should consider getting a different car. This leads me to wonder whether they are reluctant to work on certain older vehicles that require more work or attention to detail. The Cadillac is just an old GM product with a bunch of computers and quite a few discontinued parts. I wonder whether such a reluctance can lead to frustration on the part of the technician, leading to poor workmanship - putting the question nicely. To be fair, there was other work that Rick's did on the Cadillac (and the Mustang) that was satisfactory. read more

My old van broke down and I called Rick per the reviews on Yelp were solid and they did not disappoint. I called before having the van towed and they said bring it in. They looked it over and gave me my HONEST options. New radiator and once it is in they can check the engine thoroughly for damage. Before I had to make this decision I asked Richard if he thought the engine was okay and he said yes but again they won't fully know until the radiator is replaced. I said go for it and a few hours later they said she was good to go. Side note, I told a buddy of mine that the van broke down and before I said anything else his words were " I hope you took it to Rick's Car Care". So this place is well thought of amongst the Irving peeps. All I am saying is good and HONEST mechanics are hard to come by and Rick's is the real deal. I will not be taking any of my cars anywhere else. I live in Arlington and will make the trip to let these guys service and or repair all of my vehicles. I hope you do the same. read more

I called around since I am not from the Irving area and was referred to Rick's by a friend. Immediately when I went in to Rick's, I felt welcomed and taken care of. They offered free rides to work so I could leave my car with them that day and they were prompt with their repairs. They carefully explained what I needed repaired on my car and didn't overcharge me or hassle me with more repairs like my dealership. Will definitely be back and will refer to anyone in the future. I had been having a slow leak for a while now, I mean barely enough for me to even be concerned about. With a slight nudge from my girlfriend (okay more than slight) I finally decided to get it looked at. I originally spoke to Bryan when I called about getting it looked at and he was very friendly, he even told me he wouldn't charge me to just put it on the lift and see where the leak was coming from. I came in today and talked to Richard, told him the skinny and he said it would be about an hour to get it looked at. I had no plans as I was off and had no problem waiting but before I even said anything Richard said they would give me a lift home and pick me up when my car was ready. Needless to say, I needed to get a new power steering pump but I didn't feel pressured into getting it. I got my oil changed and inspection done too. Overall, the experience was excellent. Great experience and recommended by another good mechanic, so you know that it's good. I usually go to Japanese Auto Repair for my Infiniti needs but Quac unfortunately doesn't do alignments. I asked if he recommends anyone and he spoke highly of Rick's Car Care. I went there and was welcomed with great attitudes and service. My teenage daughter had issues with her vehicle as we had work done on it in California..She had to go back to college at SMU. The battery kept draining, the air was blowing hot..I called Ricks, had it towed there! They found a wire that did not belong there put there by the mechanic in Ca probably for testing??? Which screwed up the battery and air conditioning system...Ricks found the problem and did a GREAT job, and did not even charge us. THEY ARE HONEST and HONORABLE!!! So many others might have taken advantage of us being so far away. They ARE AWESOME.. If you have car issues take it to Ricks ask for Richard If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.. Update... January 31st may 2003 CRV was totaled. I found a 2006 AWD CRV 72,000 Miles at a ridiculously low price. Leather, heated seats, new tires, garage kept, you get the picture. The catch was it also had been totaled. It was a rebuild. I took it to Rick and asked that his guys check end to end to make sure that rebuild was probably done. Asked for all fluids be checked and replaced if needed. Put on the alignment machine and made a small adjustment. They switched one of the new tires to a better looking rim that I had. Everything was fine. Might need to change air filter next oil change, he said. $65.00 No way would I take my car to any other Shop. No way would I take a car to any shop that's not AAA Approved. read more

Let me tell a little story. We live over a hundred miles from Irving, but we were traveling in a pickup with a dog in a crate in back on a hot July day. We had spent a night in an Irving hotel, and in the morning the truck wouldn't start. We were towed to this place (Rick's) we knew nothing about. Turns out the starter was shot. We were allowed to bring our dog into the waiting room and sat there, waiting for the starter to be replaced. Knowing that we were on the road, traveling with a dog in the heat of summer, the folks at Rick's gave our case priority, in front of several other customers. (Note that they could have little expectation of our ever being repeat customers.) We were very thankful and impressed that they were so considerate of our plight. Those of you who are fortunate enough to live near Rick's are the lucky ones. Will we travel a hundred miles each way to give Rick's our business -- no. Honesty! And great service. I used to work near the Irving location when I first took my Jeep to Rick's. I don't anymore, but I will still go there even though it's no longer convenient...because they are super honest. Just one example: Jeep dealership tells me I need new mount bushings for $1,000, struts for another $1,000 and a ton more. Rick's took a look (and showed me) why all that was not needed. I move to Irving, Tx from Huntsville, Tx in 2004 and knew very few people and especially where to go when a problem come up. I have a "Collectors Pickup" [to me], a 2000 GMC 4W off Road, skid bar, fully loaded with only 31,000 miles on it. I needed some repairs but did not know where to go. I had taken it to one place which was dirty, unfriendly and finally told me they could not get to it that day after I had called the day before and made reservations, so I told them to forget it and I left. A man was there and he too had the same problem and he told me about Rick's Auto Services, that he had heard was good and he was going there, he gave me the address. I went home and called Rick's the next day and was told to bring it in and they would take a look and go over it with me. I went to Rick's the next day and found a very clean, friendly and concerned group of people who made me feel at ease. I told them the problem and they wrote a work order up and told me to have a seat and wait for a while. Approximately 25 minutes they call me up and told me what was wrong and the amount it would cost to repair it and length of time. I gave them the go ahead and thankfully it took only about an hour and much less cost of what I expected. That sold me on Rick's, and I have been back for oil changes an other necessary upkeep needs. I have been taking my vehicle to Rick's when needed and I had to go back September 15 with what I thought was major problems but turned our minor and as usual, I received excellent personal attention, friendly and professional service during my visit there. I left my Pickup there, expecting for it to be there at least two [2] days but they called me at home that evening and told me it was ready as it did not need all they originally thought and even had a driver pick me up for I was alone at home at that time. I arrived and they explained what they had to do and replace and the total charges. I was shocked for it was much less than I expected. I sincerely, from my dealings and experience with Rick's Car Care Center in Irving recommend Rick's.
