The advertised price is not what you will pay. They add charges without telling you. For example, the oil change does not include a filter, so they will charge you more for a filter. In addition, they charge a shop service charge that they don't tell you about. Expect to pay an additional $50 above what they advertise. They will pull out the filters in your car and try to upsell you even though you've told them not to. When I pulled in, it was my turn, but a lady drove in after I was already parked. They had my hood up and serviced her first. When I asked them about it, they said, "Well, she was just getting a top off." It took them 10 or 15 minutes to do her top off, and that meant I had to sit there and wait for them to get to me. I would never recommend the Take Five shop on Shady Grove, and to be honest, my experience has turned me off from the entire company. read more

I always go to Take 5 when needing a quick oil change. I usually jump around locations but the experience never changes. I love how tentative they are to my car. I was in and out within 10 minutes. They helped change my filters, windshield wipers and even gave me water! The guys were super nice and I will definitely be back to this location! Thanks again y'all! read more

I went recently for state inspection. I drive my car into bay, Tech asks for insurance info , one guy opens the hood and immediately says "your car will fail inspection if your wiper blades are bad!" I told them My wiper blades had not been on my car for 3 months, the tech had not even looked at them so I pointed out that fact. The text that was logging in info started stumbling his words when I challenged him and he says "there's a note on the wall stating that!" I'm not arguing that but the guy had never looked at my wiper blades until I said something, he quickly lifts them up then says "there's wear." They brought a package of blades which I'm not sure I'm getting the ones from that package or a cheaper version. I've emailed and called. One email was returned from corporate. When I've called the location no one ever answered. I WILL NEVER GO BACK, neither should you. Scammers read more

I brought my truck they saw the oil pan plug it won't tight cause the treads are messed up they didn't tell me and decided to put one of their temporary plugs. After they told me about the mechanic said it would last me until next oil change. Next morning big oil puddle under my truck. Is not okay how they say it's going to hold and is not okay to replace something without even telling me about it. Now I have to take the oil pan off to get this temporary plug out. I don't recommend this place this guys aren't even mechanics don't know what they doing. read more

Went there back in November for an oil change on my car about 5-10 minutes before they close and as soon as they saw me pull in they ran over and pulled the doors down. Not that big of a deal. Went back the next day in plenty of time and they did fine but $75 for an oil change is ridiculous. Fast forward to this past Sunday and I needed a place that was open and close by to get my bike inspected and the guy from 10 feet (not wearing a mask like is says they do) away starts telling me their guy that does inspections isn't there and for some reason feels the need to walk right up in my face WITHOUT A MASK !! read more

I recently took my Honda and Chevy truck for oil changes and today 7/28/20. I took my Jeep there only to be told by the kid opening up at 8am that I HAVE to stay in my vehicle. When I took my car in two weeks ago I and others were allowed to exit cars and wait outside. All were social distancing. It was terribly humid and I said Nope! If I can't stand outside where there's a breeze then close it up and I'll go elsewhere! I then went to Kwik Kar and all there are able to stand outside safely distancing from one another. The kid opening shop at Take 5 failed to use alittle common sense and logic. Your policy of "remain in vehicle " needs to be reviewed. My first trip there, right after Take 5 took over ownership, was great. They've been going downhill since! If your vehicle has an "engine splash shield" under the car that has to be removed to change the oil - BEWARE!! The screws that hold the shield on are metal - but the nuts they screw into are PLASTIC! ... These MORONS use an impact wrench to remove and replace these screws. The impact wrench strips the plastic nut and after a few times of this, the screws no longer hold the splash shield up. The screws start dropping out and you'll find your splash shield dragging the ground or coming off while driving! When I first went there, they used a hand speed wrench (as they should as to not overtighten the screws!); not anymore! I've had to replace the splash shield and all of the nuts and screws. Since then, I've been VERY SPECIFIC asking to ensure they don't use an impact wrench! My last trip, THEY USED AN IMPACT WRENCH ANYWAY, EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM NOT TO!!! Additionally, they used an impact wrench to open and close the air cleaner box, cracking the lower half of the "PLASTIC" housing. I sent an email complaint to corporate on their website about this - with a "we'll reply within 24 hours". NO REPLY AT ALL!! Bottom line, they may seem nice and courteous - BUT - UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CAR DESTROYED - find SOMEPLACE that does things professionally and correctly for your oil changes!!! I came to take 5 with the highest expectations as I had been recommended this company. The locations where my friend went were uptown Dallas and Garland. I was in the Irving area so I came to this one. Customer service was OK, they didn't even seem too familiar with the synthetic oil my car needed but I just brushed it off. After my oil change as I left to run my errands for the day my car started making a weird noise. I thought it was the roads I was driving on but later that night my dad heard the noise as were were driving to dinner, after checking my car out there was damage to my front grill and underneath the undertow was loose to where it was being blown open by the wind. Damage that was not there previously. I took it back in to Take 5 and the assistant manager's excuse for not giving me at least a refund was that I didn't bring it back in immediately so he couldn't take ownership of it then tried to make it better with a 50% coupon for next time. Once I requested the coupon he then said there was no way for him to give me one because he couldn't make a barcode. They also said it "was in the notes" that I had pieces missing from my undertow and that someone had told me about it which clearly did not happen.
