"Stocky" left his channel locks under my hood, breaking my hood lock pin when he closed it. A close-up of the damage.

My first two encounters with this shop back in the winter of 2025 were good. The first time, a blond, kind mechanic did some troubleshooting due to a noise I was hearing but wasn't able to find anything, and didn't charge me. The second time, in December, my check-engine light went on due to the EGR system. I had had work done on this system before, so it was troublesome that the check-engine light was illuminating yet again. When I brought it to this shop, I was hoping to see the same mechanic who helped me before (Isaiah?). I didn't, but another mechanic did, a tall, dark-haired man who was also kind (Joel?). He replaced my EGR valve. The check-engine light stayed off for 2-3 months; then, it tripped again (not a commentary on "Joel's" work as I know the fuel/air intake can be an issue). So, I took it back to this NRH shop (7659 Blvd 26), hoping to see "Joel" again and see if he could remedy the problem, hopefully for minimal or no cost since I'd already paid $225 to have this repaired. Alas, "Joel" was not there. Nor was "Isaiah". Only one guy I'd seen before in my previous visits was still there; I assume he is the manager, perhaps the owner. All other personnel I didn't recognize, including a stocky guy in black sweatpants whom I'd never seen before. The "manager" and a very young man, perhaps his son, told me to come back the next day because the "main" mechanic (I assumed "Joel") was out sick but would be back tomorrow. The "manager" told me to bring my receipt; I don't mind that, but with the work having been done recently, in December, couldn't they verify it via their computer system? I showed up the following day, receipt in hand, and showed it to the "manager". He went in the shop to talk to the "stocky guy" and returned a few minutes later, stating that the part that was installed was defective and that he'd just charge me for labor. What I'm wondering is how he was able to determine that the part was defective so quickly if that was really the case. Things didn't add up in this and subsequent situations. On 02-28-2026, I wish I'd never handed over my keys, that's for sure. Sitting in the waiting room for 90 minutes or so, seeing more customers come in one after another, gave me time to think. "Isaiah" is gone. "Joel" is gone. All new people. They said their "main" mechanic would be here today, but he's not. No computerized system of tracking receipts/work. I really doubt that EGR valve is defective. I started to have a really, REALLY ... REALLY BAD FEELING. It was one of those kinds of 6th-sense feelings that you should NEVER ignore. So, I got the ball rolling ... With some resistance, I was able to get my car back. I also had to ASK for my receipt. That was another red flag. Anyway, as soon as I left, something was blatantly not right. At first, I thought, "Oh it's just me." I had to push the brake pedal really hard to get my vehicle to come to a ROLLING stop, not an on-demand stop. It wouldn't do the latter at all. So I drove it around this strip-mall parking lot for a bit. There was no way I was going back to that stocky guy and risk more damage. I managed to get on the highway, but the problem was becoming more difficult to manage in busy traffic. I exited as soon as I could. I took it to a Discount Tire out of not knowing where to take it because I'd been a customer of theirs in the past. Well, THAT didn't do me any good! Then I saw Mavis across the street had "brakes" on their sign, so I took it there. At Mavis, two up and coming mechanics came out, to help me, James & Mustafa. Colton assisted as well. I popped the hood. Lo & behold, a Wal-mart plastic shopping bag was deliberately stuck and clamped down between the air filter and the intake duct. Then James found that my nearby brake line had been disconnected and that a pair of channel locks were still lying near one of my hood-locks, under the hood during my unexpected trip to Mavis. That explains why that hood-lock now sits incorrectly above the hood and the hood lock pin is broken. Gee, thanks Stocky! All of this to say this: I think what's going on here is the "manager" of this 7659 NRH Auto shop on Blvd 26 is probably either not paying his qualified mechanics enough and/or not giving them enough time off (They're open everyday, not that that matters unless you want to increase your auto repairs and waste your precious time.) To deal with not enough mechanics, he brings in a willing party ("Stocky") who is obviously not qualified (ASE certified). So, James and Mustafa got me safely back on the road, and Colton helped smooth out the rough spots in my shaken-up state upon seeing the damage done. It became apparent that when James and Mustafa were taking off the Wal-mart bag, that Stocky had already damaged the edge of the intake duct. So, Stocky has costed me $30 for a new intake duct and $100 for the broken hood lock, not to mention wasted time and the frustration with a business/persons that lie.

I got a new tire installed and they only took like 15-20 mins. Great service. And they aired my other tires too. I'll be returning for sure.

I wish I caught her name but she was hands down the most helpful woman I've ever come across. She talked me through everything as well as the gentleman who did the dirty work. I found out they had a busy rush taking in another company's mechanic issues and worked straight through without lunch on a 90+ degree weather and I walked in right after the rush. Their work ethic didn't slow down, they were helpful, patient and most of all willing to do anything to make sure everything went smooth. I can't thank them enough with everything being such short notice. I do not recommend Christian Brothers Automotive on Rufe Snow. We have been customers for years,…read moretrusted them with multiple vehicles, and spent thousands of dollars here. What has happened with our 2015 Ford Escape has destroyed that trust. We brought the Escape in shortly after purchasing it because the A/C was blowing hot. On July 31, at 157,258 miles, CBA diagnosed an internal A/C compressor failure. During that same inspection, they specifically marked the drive belts "Good - No action needed," radiator hoses good, and reported no engine-bay leaks requiring action. We approved the A/C repairs, but the vehicle repeatedly had to return because the A/C still was not working correctly. During one return, CBA documented an engine-coolant-overtemperature condition, low coolant, and an air pocket after cooling-system work involving bleeding/refilling. They corrected that problem at no charge. On August 20, the Escape returned again. CBA documented P0217 engine overheating, low coolant, an active leak from the reservoir bleed-hose assembly, and stress cracking throughout the coolant expansion tank. Their report stated "Unable to Test Drive - Safety Issues." Their report also states that the computer restricted A/C compressor output because of overheating and that clearing the fault temporarily restored A/C pressures while the thermal safeguards were inactive. After the cooling-system repairs, CBA found internal noise from the A/C compressor and recommended replacing it under warranty. The compressor we had already paid to have repaired therefore had to be replaced again under warranty. We also have texts from CBA acknowledging issues with their inspection process. One says "we missed his note" regarding the air-filter housing. Another says "there were some concerns missed on the inspection report" and that their foreman wanted to inspect the vehicle again. Then our Escape shut down while being driven and became completely undrivable. CBA's latest diagnosis says the belt tensioner pulley seized, generated severe heat, melted the idler pulley, snapped the drive belt, damaged the A/C compressor seal, and caused the belt to disconnect the crankshaft-position-sensor plug, preventing the engine from starting. They recommended replacing the belt, tensioner, idler pulley, harmonic balancer, alternator and A/C compressor. We were then told the belt should have been replaced because the vehicle was over 150,000 miles. But CBA inspected this vehicle at 157,258 miles and specifically documented "Drive Belts Good - No action needed." If the belt should have been replaced at 150,000 miles, why did their own technician inspect it at more than 157,000 miles and recommend no action? Their latest written report also connects the 150,000-mile recommendation to the timing belt kit and water pump, not the accessory drive belt that broke. We are not expecting a mechanic to predict every future failure. Our concern is the overall history: repeated returns, cooling-system problems, overheating, repeated A/C problems, warranty replacement, CBA acknowledging missed inspection concerns, and finally a major failure leaving the vehicle undrivable. We also have a 2001 Lincoln Navigator that returned because the A/C still wasn't working correctly and it continued shaking at idle. While CBA had it, we were informed that during a test run the starter became stuck engaged and burned out. CBA ultimately replaced the starter at no charge. At this point, we have lost confidence in this location. We want accountability, complete documentation, applicable warranties honored, and a technical explanation for how a vehicle repeatedly inspected and repaired by this location ended up undrivable shortly afterward. If CBA maintains that none of its previous repairs, workmanship, installation/reassembly, or recently replaced components contributed to what happened, we want the technical basis for that conclusion documented--not simply a statement that the current failure is our responsibility. We trusted this company and continued returning because we believed they would stand behind their work. Unfortunately, that trust is gone. If this situation is resolved appropriately, I will update this review accordingly.
