Richie's Classic Italian Slush is wicked bellisimo. The prices are reasonable and staff is nice and they have many flavs and some off-beat ones too. I opted for two smalls -the ruby red grapefruit and the cotton candy. Both were pissah tasting and oh-so velvety. I wanna try their new junk food items like the chicken tenders and stuff. I don't understand how it's possible, but this slush is as tasty and smooth as ice cream. What's in it? It's a closely guarded secret. But I've never tasted anything like this. I grew up on this slush and was so excited to find this place. When I was young we always went out for Richie's Slush, there used to be a stand pretty close to our house. Since then I've been able to find the slush, but not the flavor selection, especially banana which is my Dad's favorite. A big smile appeared on my face when I found the original location and it still had banana. We made a trip there part of our father's day celebration this year and my dad was thrilled to have banana slush again! Why didn't I think to review this sooner? During the summer this was mine and my boyfriends place to go! Mango slush is by far my ABSOLUTE favorite, with Pear not far behind. One day my boyfriend asked if I wanted to go get slush, .. and I gave him the confused puppy dog look. Tilted my head to the side and was like, huh? Whats slush? He was like, you know, Slush Puppies, well its sort of like that. So we went to Richie's slush probably the day after they opened for Summer 2008, and I gave it a whirl and to be surprised, this has become my favorite little treat!!! I can't eat ice cream (I'm lactose), but who cares, I don't care about ice cream anymore, I'm in love with Richie!!!! Always new special flavors to try, and I do try them. I ALWAYS get half Mango and half the new flavor, just in case I don't like it, I still get my Mango fix to satisfy me. It's just so cold, smooth and refreshing on a hot summers day, or night. Hehe. My boyfriend is all about the Cherry and Lemon flavors. Different places that serve Richie's slush give you different amounts of slush for different prices. Your better off sticking to the real Richie's to get your money's worth. The girls PACK the slush into those little paper cups, god I love those girls. I This review is a compilation of my last four visits during June, July and August, but primarily on the outstanding service I received in early August. First an overall. For the first time since 1983, they have food! And what food! Their Steak & Cheese is so outstanding I can't stay away from it! I've had it three times already. The have, not the best necessarily, but very good burgers that are tasty without too much fat and zero "gristle". Their ice cream and slush speak for themselves and are just outstanding. Their slush simply the best you'll find anywhere. Now on to my experience of what great customer service is supposed to be. About a month ago in early August I stopped on my way home. I really wanted an ice cream or maybe a Sundae, but I was also thirsty. I was scanning the monitor menu for an ice cream soda and i was frankly surprised that it wasn't listed. After all, its a New England staple at every ice cream parlor around here. Just then a very nice lady, who I think was perhaps the shift supervisor, asked if I was looking for something. I asked about the ice cream soda. She didn't know what they were [enter shocked expression on my face here]. She said if I could tell her what they were and how they're made, she'd be happy to make one for me. Now THAT is customer service. Anyway, I told her step by step how to make one. They didn't have any cream, only milk, but that would work just fine for me. I have to tell you all that this wonderful lady made one of the very best ice cream sodas I've ever had! It was just delicious. I think what made it (besides my awesome instructions!) was the quality products they use plus the care she took to make just what I was craving. My wife wanted the passion fruit chocolate chunk ice cream. She absolutely loved it. The flavor was just out of this world delicious. The chocolate chunks were huge and made with quality chocolate, not cheap crap type you often see in some places and particularly in many store-bought brands. Thank you, kind lady! Started going to this place when I moved to the area sever years ago. Also I work around the corner so it's really convenient in terms of location. Slush variety is great, there are so many flavors, you really cannot go wrong. They also have a great variety of ice cream and frozen yogurt flavors, which is what I actually prefer over slush. The slush is delicious. There's no getting around that. Whoever is making the decisions over there needs to get out of their own way. Let's go down the list: - This place used to be a tiny concrete box that I'm assuming just printed money. It was usually staffed by 2 or 3 high school girls like any ice cream place and ran like clockwork. Last year they decided to close and renovate in the middle of the summer (A+ business decision for sure). Now it's a slightly larger concrete box with a giant gaudy LED sign staffed by about 10 people that can't get an order out in under 15 minutes - Post renovation you now have new menu items including summer time favorites like salami stuffed fried dough, and cheeseburger spring rolls. Grab a beach towel, your shades and go cool off with a refreshing pork cutlet sub. - There's almost never such a thing as too much when you're talking portions right? Yeah... unless we're talking food that starts a race against time the second you expose it to air. The medium slush is enormous and stands no chance in even mild summer weather as soon as you walk away from the counter. I'm 190 lbs. I can eat all day. And I was sick to my stomach after trying to keep pace with a medium rainbow USA. - There are also no napkins in sight for wiping blue sugar water off your hands from your slush puddle. Maybe I'm wrong and blotting your skin with provolone from a stuffed fried dough is the way to go here. - They finally added a couple benches to sit and relax with your slush 5 feet from route 16. For your convenience they've also included a trash can right on top of you so a swarm of hornets fighting over the slurry remains in the trash can keep you company while you eat. read more

Great slush! This place offers a great variety and the price is decent. I'd recommend getting the quart and sharing it between 2-3 people. They will even give you extra cups that you can use to split it with. Was on vacation to Boston for a week and ended up going here twice it was so good! I was able to place an order in November and have it shipped to a friend in New Jersey. She grew up in Everette and hadn't had Richie's lemon slush since she was a kid. The look on her face when she got the package (shipped in dry ice) was priceless. The look on her face when she finally got to taste some was even better if you can believe it. I had some for the first time; it was delicious. The lemon flavor really stood out, just the way I like it. It was not "watered" down. Last month when I was visiting my daughter's family in West Medford, I found that the ice cream shop up the street from her on High Street served all the flavors of Richie's Slush. My mother grew up in the apartment building right above Richie's and would serve people slushwho were waiting in their car. My mom talks about these times fondly... Richie's truely is an institution. In my travels I was EXTREMELY surprised to learn that slush isnt everywhere in the USA! People asked if it was like snow cones and etc. There is something like Richies slush in Baltimore but they have a different name for it. You don't even have to go to Everett anymore to get this stuff though it's part of the "experience," which is pretty much for me mainly nostalgia of when I was little. Loved Richie's Italian Ice growing up. I would always get them at a nearby convenience store. I work nearby so when I passed by and found this place, I thought I was in heaven! They have so many different flavors and sizes to choose from! Took my siblings here and they loved it! Parking however can be a little dangerous: parking is literally in front; 15 minutes parking. But I'm warning you, it's DANGEROUS! I didn't even know there were parking there cause there's no line indicating so, but there's a sign. If you can find parking along the more quiet street areas, park there and walk out. It's a lot safer especially if you're bringing kids. read more

The ultimate in slush. Richies is truely the King. I've been going here since I was a child and remember Richie himself working the counter then his kids. My dad told me once that Richie spent time in a Japanese POW camp in WWII. Not sure if that was true but it certainly added an air of mystery to the man and made visits all the more interesting. I've tried many flavors but lemon will always be my favorite. If you like slush you must make a "pilgrimage" to Richies in Everett. Be careful, the parking can be a real nightmare because it is right on the parkway and cars wizz by at alarming rates of speed. read more

We saw this on they way to the airport and impulsively stopped. Joe had a mango slush, and I had an Oreo and black raspberry ice cream. OMG!!!! this is fantastic stuff!! It was the best Oreo ice cream I EVER tasted with lots of crushed up Oreos. The mango slush was excellent too. The ice cream is truly creamy with nice mouth feel and not overly sugared. I was afraid to try the slush because I was thinking it was going to be a nasty sugar water concoction like from 7-11, boy was I wrong! I can't really describe it beyond that it was perfect. It stayed frozen for a long time too. This is going to be a stop on all my Boston trips from now on. read more

I have been going to Richie's since I was a kid. It has always been a summer favorite stop for a special treat. Parking is always a gamble, if you can safely get a spot out front in the rush of traffic. The upgrades to the storefront this year look great and make ordering more efficient- ordering at the first window, picking up at the second. The ice cream is great quality, but you go to Richie's for the slush. My signature flavor has always been Watermelon. But in the past couple of years (while I heard there have been some behind-the-scenes changes at RS) the Watermelon has not tasted the same to me. Starting with the individual cups sold in the supermarket, I thought the flavor tasted off, kind of like bubblegum- thinking it might just be the pre-packaged I went for my first outdoor slush of the season and I sadly thought the same. There is nothing wrong or different (texturally or otherwise) with the slush itself, my beloved flavor is just no longer the same and I will have to find a new favorite. Will still be going to Richie's though. read more

Sorry to be the one to break the five star streak that this place has had so far, but in all honesty, I wasn't terribly impressed. The slush isn't bad, but it isn't what I expected, given the glorious compliments that I hear from others about it. Granted, it's better than the slush you get from the ice cream truck man, but it's still a little artificial-tasting to me. I much prefer Rita's Ices, but unfortunately, the closest Rita's is about an hour away from Boston. read more
