Absolutely understand the hype! This little ice cream shop in Eastie is serving up some delicious sweet treats - ranging from slushes, gelatis, soft serve, and even fresh ice cream sandwiches! Because Slush King is a neighborhood staple, definitely expect a line when you stop by, but the staff are pretty quick and efficient. I ordered a soft serve swirl with rainbow sprinkles in a cup, while my boyfriend tried the rum raisin gelato. Everything is priced very reasonably and the taste is even better! I'm pretty particular about soft serve, but this has to be my favorite I've tried in Boston so far.

Soft serve was great! Really good quality ice cream. I was irked at the credit card surcharge fees that they are charging which add 7% to the bill

Slush king - love their ice cream. So many options, such nice service & reasonably priced. Somehow we end up there more often than we should ! It just hits the spot on a sunny hot day.

Great soft serve and gelato in East Boston for reasonable prices. I loved my large stracciatella gelato sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, crushed nuts, and a cherry. It was heavy on the whipped cream but still very good. My friends loved their ice cream sandwiches as well!

My go to spot since they opened. Delicious, great price & value / frappes are a repeat order for me (even tho you'd benefit from a larger straw) I still come here & buy my milkshakes! Family loves the brownie sundae & fried dough

Medium watermelon and lemon. Perfection. And like 3$....

Best slush ever. Wish this place was open more often... I really like the grape slush, and of course watermelon and lemon. I like they have real fruit flavors and the classic artificial you sometimes need. It's the best place to go and spend 4$ on a big cup of cold goodness.

Gelati was amazing!!! 10/10 recommend. It is any flavor icee with either soft serve or gelato on top!

So glad I found them. Perfect on a sunny day and you can tell that they use all natural and it's delicious. Our favorites were the lemon, passion fruit, and guava. The mangonada was good but I think the tajin overpowered the mango too much. Looking forward to coming back and trying their soft serve.

The huge lines seem intimidating, but they go by quite quickly, and it spreads into 3 separate lines inside. Bear in mind they are CASH ONLY. They do box your orders nicely with their iconic string. :) Although they're known for their cannoli, you can also order other pastries like eclairs, whoopie pies, brownies, cheesecakturnovers, florentines, scones, croissants, cookies, and even Dubai chocolate. Their pastry variety is endless. I ordered the Mint chip and Pistachio cannoli. Both were decadent but not too heavy or sweet. One downside is that I felt they were a bit drier than Modern, but otherwise comparable. Each was $8, although you can get "kits" for cheaper (some flavors like Dubai chocolate are more expensive). Having enjoyed cannoli in Italy and éclairs in various places across Europe, I found these pastries to be overrated and not worth the wait--even if there had been no line and everything was half-price. The chocolate éclair looked unappealing and was quite dry. The filling was excessively sweet and left an artificial aftertaste. The cannoli shells lacked the crispness I expected, and again, the filling was overwhelmingly sweet with what tasted like artificial ingredients. I honestly don't understand the hype. My guess is that much of it comes from social media influencers who may not have experienced similar pastries in Europe. Yet whenever someone visits Boston, they're told they "have to" try Mike's Pastry. For me, it simply didn't live up to its reputation. Disappointing. Oh, it is only cash. Hm...

My previous favorite was Amorino, but I think this place is a step above. The texture of the ice cream was superb--exquisitely smooth and creamy, yet not as sticky as Amorino. Coconut: Coconut ice cream in the U.S. is always legendary, but this was the pinnacle of the legendary. The aroma of coconut and milk was the richest I've ever tasted, and it felt very natural, with just the right amount of sweetness. Naked Yogurt: Similar in design to Amorino's Yogurt & 0% Fat Yogurt, both were pure, rich, and unsweetened yogurt, but this one had a more intense milky flavor. Espresso Mascarpone: The signature flavor. The bittersweet aroma of espresso was distinct yet mellow, but the presence of mascarpone cheese is limited. Very refreshing. Other flavors: Pistachio had a rich pistachio flavor and was a safe choice; Tiramisu and Dulce de Leche were both a bit too sweet. From this perspective, Amorino seems to offer a more well-rounded experience, but I still prefer the surprising quality of this place. The sorbets were all decorated with fruit, making them especially beautiful. If you try too many samples, the staff might get a little annoyed. I was reminded after trying the fourth flavor, so I reluctantly stopped.

I have yet to find any that are significantly better than ordinary Haagen Daz from a supermarket. In fact, most ice cream parlour ice creams aren't even as good, while costing orders of magnitude more than supermarket H-D! Toscanini's is close to equal to H-D in my book...and mainly for the fact that they offer some truly unusual and original flavors: we had the Mango Sticky Rice, Burnt Caramel, and Kulfi. My friend who enjoyed the first one the most, quickly tired of the second, and the third was my favorite by far, mainly because I love cardamom and saffron so much. I was somewhat conflicted with the Burnt Caramel...first taste was delightful, but halfway through the novelty faded away for the most part. We both appreciated that the ice cream was not hyper-sweet like JP Licks, though. HOWEVER, the extreme creaminess, density, and dry mouth-feel of H-D was just not there, as usual. I'd describe the texture of Toscanini's ice cream to be fairly ordinary, like a typical soft/smooth gelato texture. Not bad, but not anything I would really write home about. YMMV of course. Otherwise, service was good and the place is clean and pleasantly modern inside, with 3 nice new steel benches to sit at outside. The benches are curiously turned AWAY from the street, I suppose to foster more of a "communal" vibe and people-watching opportunities. I've walked by during peak hours and seen it quite full, so this place clearly is still quite popular. At $8.25 for 3 scoops (albeit fairly generous sized scoops) of oh, 8 out of 10 ice cream, I don't see myself ever becoming a regular here despite the undeniably interesting/unique flavors, unless I came mainly for the people-watching opps on a nice weather day.

Personally, I lean toward strong, bold profiles. Their chocolate and chocolate hazelnut are incredibly rich and amazing, and the pistachio is absolutely heavenly. That said, their more delicate, subtle flavors like the lavender, salted caramel, and mango lassi are equally wonderful and perfectly balanced. The freshness here is unmatched. The blood orange sorbet was incredible, and while I was in the shop, I actually saw a crate of fresh blood oranges they were prepping to squeeze for the next batch.
