My 2009 Mustang GT (Manual 5-speed Tremec) was having in issue with shifting into gear while at a standstill. Roger advised me that this issue was clutch related, not a transmission issue. They dropped the transmission and located the problem, repaired and had it ready to pick up that same afternoon. It now shifts smooth and easy. I was looking for replacement bolts for my Ford Ranger transmission pan. After trying to locate even Ford Dealer could not come up with correct bolts. Ford not only could not find any they gave me the wrong bolt spec. After trying to locate the correct parts with no success contacted Transmission Shop for needed bolts that a previous user or shop rounded the heads. Transmission Shop said come in we have them for you. After getting the correct I was able to complete my DIY transmission service and correctly torque the good bolts. Thank You! read more

I bought a car that was too good to be true from an unscrupulous dealer. The car looked fantastic and I bought it knowing it had an issue, possibly with the transmission. I was ignorant that the transmission was a CVT and more expensive/rare than conventional. Chuck was very sympathetic and gave me multiple options from fixing to replacing it with a new or rebuilt one. His communication was excellent and he gave me pricing and pros and cons of each option. I opted for the having him rebuild it and got lucky because my trans wasn't shredded and they were able to find and replace the bad bearing. Whew Fast forward two months and my wife's car broke down in a small town a couple hours away. I called Richfield Transmission and they were able to instruct me how to drive the car back with minimal damage. I'm bringing the car in this morning, RT has earned my trust. A word about the bad reviews: I own a highly rated small biz myself and have received a couple bad reviews from people who were never my customers and a couple who didn't listen to the advice I gave them. Had an AOD, it blew up. Had it rebuilt by him and it blew up again. Turned out to be a bad flex plate but he gave me a rebuilt c6 in two days just so I could get back on the road. He genuinely felt badly, even to the extent of me having his personal number in case anything else happened. Not much else to say but they are knowledgeable and do actually care. I also took apart the aod to see notes and check marks on evevery bolt and valve body connection band push rod, ect. read more

I absolutely would not suggest this establishment. The owner is an absolute jerk and will probably take advantage of you like he did to me. I'm handicapped and he basically took my car from me. Fuck Chuck he is a rip off liar. I dropped my truck off at Richfield transmission center for them to diagnos and fix a problem in my Transmission. When i dropped it off they quoted me 75 dollars for a diagnosis. Later that day they claimed if they reflashed or reprogramed my TCM The problem will or will not go away. They said it would cost 175 dollars to do that. I said OK. The next day Chuck calls me and tells me that he did NOT reflash or reprogram my computer. He goes on to say that I need an Internal transmission wiring harness and Valve body. He says he'll order the parts and get it done tomorrow. The next day I don't get a call. The day after I call Richfield Transmission center wondering whats going on. Chuck now says something else is wrong with my truck. And he did NOT install the parts he said he would. And he says that in order to properly diagnos the problem he had to bring my truck to another mechanic that worked for GM who had the proper diagnostic tools. At this point its obvious that Chuck is incompetent. I don't trust him to work on my truck anymore. I want it back. But now he claims he has 300 dollars worth of "work" into it and thats what he'll charge me to get it back. He didn't do ANY WORK. He didn't replace any parts. He didn't reprogram anything and he didn't fix any of my problems. All he did was a diagnosis that I was told was gonna cost me 75 DOLLARS but I got charged $278.25 for. So if you want to bring your ride to a place where the dude is incompetent will hold on to your truck waste your time and charge you WAY TO FUCKING MUCH FOR NOTHING this is the place for you. Other wise this place sucks. I would give them negative 10 stars if that was an option. read more

I have recently had to have some work done on my 98 Ford Ranger pick up. I went to Richfield Transmission to get my tranny looked at and was a little disappointed that I had to pay $500 to get my truck fixed, but was happy to be on my way. I drove it home and got the feeling that nothing really had changed, but wasn't really sure. Then my husband drove it to work the next day and it started acting out again. I was a little upset, I called Richfield Transmission and brought it back. They were really appologetic and told me to bring it back. After taking it apart again and doing afew more things, they called me to come get it. I drove it away and could immediately feel the difference! The tranny shifted like it was brand new! I am soooooo thrilled with the service I received and how polite and efficient they were. Thank you Richfield Transmission!!! You guys Rock! read more

Overall. Not pleased. Took over a week to get my tranny rebuilt after I was told it would take 2 days when I brought it in. Cost more than anticipated even after factoring in the extra work discussed based on the numbers we discussed. Then after I reinstalled my transmission into my car (I pulled it and brought it to them myself) I find that its leaking out the side of the accumulator cover (they forgot to put the seal on!) So I call the shop, tell them whats going on, and ask what they would like me to do. I am instructed to fill it with fluid and drive it to the store for them to look at it. So, I try that. The car makes it about a mile down the road and stops going forward. They tow it to the shop for me (NICE!) only to charge me for the tow and all the fluid they added once they fixed their screw up. I guess you gotta make a living somehow. The bright side, My car drives forward, for now... We'll see if it holds up down the road or if maybe other things were forgotten to be installed too. Bottom line, They will fix your car, but it may cost more, take longer, and who knows if it will be done right the first time. Oh, and you will not be offered an apology if any of these things happen. Not if they take too long and not if a part fails. read more

Did transmission and motor mount. They seems good, but a week later the engine light and other service notices would come up in my dashboard. I have it towed back in, due to the dashboard warnings and they said it was not them and wanted to charge me more money to look deeper into it. I said didn't you code it once you put the transmission in? They said they noted a code was in prior to there work on the form. They would not answer my question and said to just try turning the vehicle off and let it reset if it does it again, which solved nothing. It was not doing this before and they should have coded it when they had it for 2 and a half weeks and over $4,000 in payment. Not happy they wanted to charge me more for something they didn't want to take ownership for. Another place said it would take $250-500 to recode it and was something the shop should have done due to the limp mode needing to be reset. read more
