I have to mention Matt. He is like a walking wikipedia when it comes to cars (except he seems to always be correct). He answered all my questions, and even coached me on haggling and it was a total success. He also gave me a free travel mug and a bottle opener keychain, too :) The downside, if you could call it that, was the $100 charge. But that's comparable to similar shops in the cities and it did come with two hours of testing and the peace of mind of knowing my car isn't going to fall apart like a looney tunes car. But I'm learning The Autopia crews performance is common for this repair shop. So Stan and the crew push my rating to five stars. Day of service, my daughter called to report her older Buick was struggling to accelerate and the service light was blinking during her 6:45 am commute from Home near the U to Richfield. We agreed she'd attempt to make it to Autopia, a shop she's used and she and her sister trust. She called first, but no answer. Secretly, I thought "this is going to be a nightmare". Of course, I remained skeptical. We stuck with the plan to meet at Autopia. Could my daughters" "Stan" and my daughters" go to auto service shop for years, really be that responsive. Major snow storm, located near Uptown/Kenwood, roads still need to be plowed. Even if Autopia had a rack open, would the price be close to reasonably priced in such an emergency situation? Upon arrival, my daughter shared Stan called her back while she was driving. She hadn't left a message but Stan saw the missed call. . When I met Stan, he not only addressed my daughter as his customer, but connected us with daughter #2, his original customer from our family. I thought that level of service was dead. Later that morning, Stan called to report the car needed the mouse nest removed from engine area, gnawed wires replaced and a major tune up (the tune up was expected as it's been 90K miles). Of course I'd rather not part with $000 of dollars during the holiday season. Yet the price was within expectations (and in line with on-line repair estimators). As Stan predicted, the repair was completed on time. The car is running fine. Stress minimized. I now understand why my daughters insist on going to Stan anytime their vehicles need a repair. This Dad is grateful there are human beings like Stan out there who are genuinely interested in their customers and provide solid car repair services, at market rates. I dropped it off yesterday morning for a tire patch and rotation. Over 24 hours later I have my car back. In true upselling fashion I received an email with all the things I needed to fix on my vehicle. I called for more details and one of the items they wanted to charge me for (listed in the email) my car doesn't even have. I talked through prices of various things and was given a total price. That price didn't match the prices for individual things we had discussed and I guess it is on me for not clarifying because I was surprised when I picked up my vehicle. I thought I had approved a $45 purchase (for the individual thing), but my bill ended up being over $300. They put the spare tire back in my truck upside down, didn't put the latch on because they "couldn't find it" even though it was literally right where I told them it was. My truck also has built in storage, but they couldn't be bothered to put that back. The cherry on top of the experience was getting into my vehicle and all my tires needing air.

Everything checked out okay and he sent me on my way. He said not to worry about any payment and I returned back to work. I was only clocked out for 7 minutes, so it was a fast check. My boss gets her oil changed here every time and loves them. They will take some competitor coupons and will call you when your car is ready.

I drive a VW so the cost to do anything is always a chunk of change but I did not gasp when I was told the total repair costs. Very friendly and very prompt service. I asked about a fuel filter that Precision Tune suggested I get replaced and Troy did that for me for $70 CHEAPER than Precision Tune quoted me. HELLO?!
