First snow of the year hits and I'm out here in a heavy 4,300lb sedan on 20s with old all-seasons... basically driving a hockey puck. I bought this car at the end of last winter, drove it ONCE in the snow, and slid into a curb at like 10 mph because the setup was trash. I knew this year I needed to fix it. I only knew two things going in: 1. I wanted to downsize to 17s for winter, 2. I wanted real snow tires and probably steel wheels. That's it. talked with David (manager). That's where things took off. Instead of trying to sell me fancy wheels or whatever, he recommended 17x7 steelies with Blizzak DM-V2s - exactly what I needed. No upsell, no BS, just the safest, most durable winter setup for my car. I cannot explain how much better my car drives now. Night and day. I honestly feel like I'm in the top 10% of winter setups on the road. I would've never known to ask for this myself. But the service is what put this place over the top. It was the first snow of the year in Minnesota. The place was slammed. Appointments booked through close, people walking in nonstop. And instead of turning everyone away, the whole crew was grinding. When I came to pick up my car, it was 6:15 PM, they close at 6 - and I witnessed them STILL take a walk-in. With like 10 more cars waiting ahead of that walk-in. These guys stayed way past close to make sure people weren't out there sliding around and to serve the community and keep residents safe (truly). And everyone there was cool. Bays were packed with energetic folks who appeared happy to be there - and happy to be working with the rest of the team. No bad vibes. No annoyed techs. Just guys who clearly know what they're doing and actually work well together and enjoy it. Happy shop = good installs. The setup they sold me wasn't some overpriced upsell. It was the RIGHT setup. Safe, durable, winter-dominating. If I went somewhere else I probably would've paid more and gotten something worse. Plus, free rotations, good warranty pricing, all that stuff. I made an appointment to have 4 tires installed, and when i got to the Car-X in Eagan they told me they didnt have me in their system even though I had the confirmation email in my hand. They told me they couldn't get me in that day so I made an appointmeant for a week and a half later since I was leaving town. On the morning of my rescheduled appointment, I called Car-X to make sure everything was still good only to find out that the Eagan store was temporarily closed and no one thought that they should contact their customers. A representative told me that they could get me in at 2:30 in Woodbury, anid I agreed. At 1pm they called me saying that they couldnt get me in anymore and told me could go to Eden Prairie at 3 if I would go to the Eagan store to pick up my tires that I had already purchased. The technician they sent to the Eagan store to unlock the door so I could get my tires was 40 minutes late. After getting my tires and then driving to the Eden Pairie locaion, I arrive to find that the lights are off and the doors locked. I waited another 20 minutes for someone to show up. He apologized and told me he would work on the tires right away. He took my number and told me he would call me when they were done. After 2 hours of walking aimlessly around the mall, I went back to the shop and my car had been ready for 45 minutes and no one had ever called me. At this point I just wanted to be done with Car-X. I received a note from the initial representative apologizing for the multiple errors along with a 10% off coupon for future purchase and a request for a positive google review, as if I would ever come back. Two days later, I come out into the garage to see one of my tires was flat. I removed the tire to check for punctures and there were none. I used soapy water to discover that the valve stem was leaking. I called and made an appointment to have it fixed in Eden Prairie since thats where the service occurred. When I arrived in Eden Prairie, once again the lights were off and the doors were locked in the middle of the day. After calling customer service multiple times, a foreign appointment booking agent set up an appointment in Richfield at 2:30. I decided to call Richfield and they said they were booked, the booker had no idea what she was talking about. He told me that the mechanic that was supposed to be in Eden Prairie had been pulled to the Bloomington location. Once again, no one called to tell me that the location where i had an appointment was closed. Just to be done with the situation, I went to the Bloomington location upon the direction of the Richfield manager. The mechanic from Eden prairie, Steve, was trying to run the front desk as well as being a mechanic. I was told i would get in immediately, and after 45 minutes my car was finally looked at. Upon completion, I was charged for changing out the valve stem. If I knew I was going to be charged I would have gone somewhere closer to Apple Valley where I live and to someone that doesnt screw something up at every turn. Needless to say, I wasted a vacation day from work and a Saturday, drove 112 miles total, all to be disappointed at every turn. I don't hold any of this against Steve the mechanic as he tried to be helpful, but I'm thoroughly disappointed in this business to provide high quality service and prompt communication. I have lost all trust in Car-X and would discourage anyone from giving them their business.

At Costco, I prefer the prepared foods and their milk jugs more than Sam's. But I like Sam's baked goods and rotisserie chicken more than Costco. Both Sam's and Costco have tires, pharmacy, cafe, and optical; they are very similar. Like all warehouse bulk places, prices are usually lower but selection is hit or miss.
