I have had my vehicles serviced at more than 15 repair shops during my 28 years living in the Twin Cities metro area and Mendota Heights Auto Service has become the only place I will bring my cars for work. I immediately had my vehicle towed from there to another business who did it for a third of the price and they listened, cared and understood the circumstance and knew my ultimate goal. Basically, an older vehicle and needed to get it repaired, presentable and driving but not only that, wasn't giving me a line of bull by saying 'parts are so expensive'. BOTTOM LINE, Superior Collision was gauging me on parts, labor and everything in between. You name it, they were charging me for it and on top of it, they have a clause in small print that says it doesn't include hidden or underlying issues that they don't see. So there could've been possibly more charges had I agreed to allow them to do the work. Honestly, I think they saw a woman in a dire situation who needed her car fixed and she was willing to pay and needed it done now and thought she'd foolishly pay it. And if this is I'm not sure what they have going on but I will never consider them in the future nor will I ever refer anyone there. I'm all for supporting local businesses but I can't and will not support businesses that take advantage of consumers who are placing their trust in them. They're in the business to help people and much of the time it's due to unfortunate situations and rather than help, they choose to do the opposite. Shame on them!

Honestly, it was a bad experience and they're even more untrustworthy than dealerships. I brought my car in for an oil change, tire rotation and to look into an acceleration issue I was having. When I got the call with the estimate from Chris, I was told I needed a new timing chain, that it was urgent and that it would be $5000. When I asked questions Chris was shifty and had very little details, and when I pressed for more answers he said if I didn't do it it wouldn't be drivable and that he does these "once a week with my kind of car". I felt very uneasy with him, didn't believe him, picked up my car (after paying $300 for the oil change, rotation and engine diagnostic which told them nothing) and brought it to the Honda dealer. The dealership ran a new diagnostic (for less money than superior charged me) and found the real issue. There's NOTHING wrong with my timing chain. There was a tear in an engine air tube that was causing the weakness, a $300 repair vs the $5000 superior wanted for a new chain. Superior just chose the easiest, most expensive thing to tell me without actually examining my car to see what was wrong. I sent an email to admin@superior and never received a response. They sent a text asking if I liked my service and when I said no and that I had complaints, there was no response. Really terrible service - and they didn't even fill up my tires with the correct amount of air. Who knows if they even rotated them?? I'll never go back. Don't trust them, and don't give them your money.

What I do want to make known is the very high level of courteousness, customer focus and professionalism I experienced Wednesday evening. Due to sub-zero cold spell we've been in, my low tire pressure warning light was flashing. I gassed up at a station near my office and drove over to their air station. No joy. The compressor ran but produced no significant pressure. I tried for the full three minutes of run time but my tire pressure remained too low for the sensors. I drove to a second station. Same thing. By now, my jacket and trousers were streaked with road grime from stooping over in the snow and constantly brushing up against my (badly in need of a wash) vehicle. I was cold and mighty irritated. Driving to yet a third station I saw the Valvoline sign. I pulled in to an oil change bay and immediately started to apologize for just needing air and offered to pay. I figured a few bucks per tire at that point was money well spent. The mechanic on duty stopped me and said there was no need to apologize. It would be his pleasure to check my tires and make sure they were fully pressurized and there would be no charge. When I told him my plight he explained that in extreme cold, outdoor gas station compressors often malfunction and can be rendered useless if not regularly bled of excess moisture and otherwise well maintained. Who knew? He said that even though their equipment was indoors, they take routine steps to ensure it is always operating optimally. At that point a fellow I presumed to be the manager came over. The mechanic said I was in for just air. The manager too said that their store is happy to provide the service free of charge and then offered to make sure my windshield washer was topped off (also no charge). He also made the point about the unreliability of gas station compressors in cold weather. He further stated that on such a slow night (I was the only customer) he was glad he could get me right in. He said sometimes when it's really busy he feels bad that some people have long waits for just a 2 to 3 minute tire check. I drove away profusely thanking both of them for really making what had been to that point a long, not very pleasant day (even before the whole tire pressure fiasco) into something much brighter. I only wish I'd gotten their names so I could personally acknowledge them online. So, if you're in Eagan and need air in your tires, you know where to go. And while your there, I hope you'll consider buying an oil change, coolant flush or whatever else your car may need. If you're lucky enough to have the two guys that were on duty Wednesday evening, you'll be very well taken care of indeed.
