Absolutely do not trust these guys. I've taken my truck in to them a few times over the last year or so, and they always seemed fine. Recently I took it in for an oil change, tire rotation and general service. I don't drive a lot because I work from home, so it was a day or so later that I noticed - when they removed the oil change sticker they had put on my windshield at the last visit, they completely fucked up the tint on my windshield. Then they just slapped another sticker over it, like nothing had happened lol! I called them immediately and they asked me to email them a photo, which I did later that evening. I got a reply back that they had received the photo and would get back to me in a day or two. A day or two passes and I heard nothing. So I reach back out and let them know I had not received a response. Then another few days pass, and I reach out again. So not only did they not PROACTIVELY admit their fuckup - which I get it, shit happens, but you have to be professional when it does and let your customer know what you fucked up and how you're going to fix it. And sometimes there's just a bad apple who doesn't represent your business well. So they put the onus on me to bring their fuckup to their attention, and now they are conveniently ignoring me. My last email to them was to let them know that I will be pursuing legal action in small claims court if I don't hear from them again in a few days. Because getting the entire tint job redone is going to set me back probably $5-600 with labor. read more

okay, so some background before my review....it is relevant.... I have been a customer of Austin's and Bam automotive since 2002. He went to high school with a family member and we started bringing our cars to his personal garage and continued for the last 20+ years. Every single member of my family has brought every iteration of car we had to Austin and his team and LOVED to because we trusted him and his former employee Brady. They give us the straight story when it came to our vehicles and never felt like we were overpaying or paying for things we didn't need just because we didn't have the education to debate it. This was something that I have always felt icky about when talking to other mechanics. In total over the years we have brought at LEAST the following business from personal cars and personal referrals 2 jeeps 3 Toyota Prius 3 Kias 2 Fords 1 Audi *multiple company vans from my sister's catering company *all Augsburg athletic vans while my sister-in-law was working for the collage and I personally have referred 15-20 (there are 5 people in my family and we all have) people that have continued to bring their cars to Bam over the years. Cut to post pandemic and Bam has opened a second location. We expected and were happy to pay higher prices as time went on because we are ALSO small-medium sized business owners that see and understand that businesses have a right to change and grow. As well, there are some changes that occur in the communication that you can have with the owner once they advance and have to split their time, which we expected. But I still trusted his longer term employees and trusted that Austin was hiring people that would give us the same level of comfort and care that we felt with him. Spoiler alert, that was not the case. There has been a revolving door of front desk people and mechanics that have been untrustworthy and insufficient when it comes to the diagnosis and actual repair of our vehicles. I had 2 different instances with my jeep where I paid $240 for the diagnosis (which is not applied towards the repair) and paid over $2000 to fix the issue, only to have it break down in the middle of Nebraska the NEXT DAY. Upon calling, I was instantly dismissed and had to pay $600 more for something they didn't catch. In the other instance the engine light went on again AS I WAS LEAVING THE SHOP. Both times I was angry and asked to speak to Austin and was completely ghosted by him. I kept getting calls from other people that I wasn't interested in speaking to, who told me that there was nothing they could have done to see the problem even though I SPECIFICALLY brought it to them for preventative diagnostics. I have asked to speak to Austin personally now because I no longer trust his employees and he absolutely REFUSES to call me back. Not only that but he will also not call my parents back who are livid because they just paid $2000 to fix the struts in their Prius and started to feel the EXACT SAME ISSUES within a month. They brought it to another local car shop in Hopkins and the mechanic explained to them (with pictures) that her struts were put on incorrectly and were leaning to the left. She STILL was not able to get a phone call back from Austin. I know this was long folks, but I am almost done.... The long and short of it, is that Bam automotive was once a place that I valued so highly and was so dedicated to spending tens of thousands of my hard earned money with. I no longer feel that way. I feel like the quality of the work has tanked, the honesty and integrity of the staff is suspect AT BEST, and Austin has completely let go of the responsibility he had as a owner to answer for the issues his customers have. I have found other mechanics in the area that are more trustworthy and actually took the time to discuss and show us the faulty work that Bam did. I will no longer be taking any car I have to Bam and will no longer recommend that anyone I know takes their car to them...I don't want to be responsible for that risk. read more

I have used Bam! Automotive in Minnetonka, MN quite a few times. They have performed oil changes with thorough inspections included in the price. The price was fair and reasonable, and the service was friendly. Other times we had repairs or  replacement to starter, high pressure power steering hose, catalytic converter, rear transfer case flush/fill. Transmission fluid replacement flush/fill. Our main contact previously was Matt. Recently our main contact was David. Personable, helpful, and very into cars. I appreciate that Austin the owner has very extensive knowledge and experience in automotive service and repairs. I recommend Bam! Automotive to anyone needing service repairs on their car, truck, or suv. On a side note, I knew someone who was interested in buying a car. Bam! Automotive Minnetonka performed a pre-purchase inspection and saved her from a costly mistake. (One of the cylinders was not operating). Way to go Bam! I got a flyer in the mail, called them and they estimated my service over the phone. I made an appointment, and they had that estimate on-hand. They gave me a couple choices on whether I wanted to wait for an exact estimate or for them to call me. I left and they called before I even got home. They were right on the estimate (brakes), repaired it and called right when they said they would. They didn't try to upsell me and are so friendly. Choosing a reliable and honest auto shop can be a tough task especially when you're new to the area. After getting new tires put on by Costco (which I'll add is a great tire service center located in St. Louis Park) they suggested I get a front end alignment. They provided me with a few referrals and I chose BAM. These guys were great! Weren't pushy with any services and provided me a loaner vehicle while they performed the work to my vehicle. First time customer to BAM! Automotive. New to the area and looked up what was close by and had good reviews. I saw this place had a solid 5 stars and took my shot. Dropped my 2023 Kia off for an oil change and tire rotation. Was given a nice hour and a half window to drop it off in and told I'd receive a text message when the car was ready with inspection details. Once I got the text I followed the link to a detailed and photographed inspection of my car from air filter, to break pads to lights. I loved how they showed photos of the inspection on my car and it really added to the integrity of the report. Came in to pick my car up and saw a few of the techs leaving for the day and everyone was in great spirits, smiling and I loved the feeling that the employees really enjoyed working there. Then I was presented with my itemized bill and was surprised the price was lower than I anticipated (I didn't ask for a quote on the phone ahead of time). Also worth throwing in that being a woman going to an auto shop I've definitely experienced being talked down to at other shops and I never got a sniff of that here. So I would recommend this place to women looking for a service shop that will treat them with equal respect. I couldn't think of a single thing that would improve my experience there. Called BAM to inquire about he cost of an alignment. I was told it was $75 by whomever answered phone. Being happy with the price, I didn't bother to call any other mechanics. When my daughter brought the car in after school today, they charged her $100. When I called to ask about the difference between what I was quoted vs charged, the guy asked me who I talked to. I told him I had no idea but it was whomever made the appointment is the one who told me the price. Again he said, well it's $100. He was emphatic and I understood that he would not entertain any more discussion about it. It felt like a bait and switch scenario I've heard a lot of good things about BAM, but if this is how they resolve problems, it might be our first and last visit with them. July 2019 - I decided to give BAM another try and was very glad I did. We've gone back to them for 3+ different services and have been really happy with the work and the price. read more

Excellent shop-- took my car in for an AC recharge and general look-over before a cross-country drive. Got in quickly and since it wasn't a busy day, the work was done while I waited. Austin is efficient and professional-- no condescension or overselling. The waiting space is far more quiet and relaxing than other shops I've been to, where you feel like you're in the middle of everything. Easy to tune out and read an article on your phone while waiting for the job to be finished. I would definitely return. read more

I chose BAM because I wanted to find a Honda specialist for a valve adjustment and 100,000 mile plugs, and I noticed that Honda is one of the makes they concentrate on. I was very impressed with the friendly attitude from Austin and Brady as well as the very nice and clean waiting area and shop. They know a lot about Hondas, in this case more than the dealer. After meeting them I also asked for a transmission flush and brake system flush. They quoted $490.00 for everything, which included tax. I was happy with the price. I was offered a loaner but didn't need it. The car was finished on time and I am quite happy with the results so far. They seem like straight shooters-honest and trustworthy. The last time I was in, they recommended a cheaper fix for my older vehicle rather than an expensive option I was hoping to avoid. I waited in the lobby and the fix was complete within 30 min. There is a reason to do business with people you know, like, and trust! I dropped my car off at a chain shop that was convenient to my house while I traveled last week for some simple maintenance. When they called me with their recommendations of nearly $4000, I was shocked! I called Austin at BAM Automotive to help me digest some of the information I had received. He told me to bring it in while I traveled this week and he'd take a look - not only did I not need all of the recommended work, they did not perform the work they charged me for (which has now been confirmed by the chain shop.) BAM is 45 min from me but Austin has personally made sure that any of the inconvenience in location has been erased with service.
