Took advantage of the situation, leaking water, and my need to get my water heater leak fixed. Called another plumbing service for an upgrade to my water heater and recirculating system later that month. Contacted RichCo regarding the high dollar amount of the charge and was basically told call a cheaper pluming service next time, additionally It took a month and numerous calls to get an invoice for this job for my records. We were initially quite impressed with Richco until we realized they charged nearly 1.5x market rate for their services. We initially hired them to install a water heater for us, which worked well enough for almost a year before one of their connections began to leak natural gas into our garage. At first I thought I could have bumped something or otherwise screwed up a connection, but when I isolated the leak it was clear that I could not have. It took me about 2 minutes to tighten it - using good technique, of course - but now I have a sour taste, between the expense and eventual deficiency of their work. read more

Edgar cleared my toilet for a lid that got stuck with a auger. 10 min. 225.00 is what he quoted if he had to remove my toilet and use a camara, he needed neither and still charged 225.00... Fernando the supervisor said it states here camara useage, i said he didnt need to remove my toilet or use the camara and i still pay 225.00, people beware this is classic screw the customer tactics! Called Richco in the middle of the night cause I had water backed up into my bathroom. They answered quickly but couldn't get anyone out till the morning. George arrived in the morning and before even snaking my line was asking me how much I thought it would cost to replace my main. I had already explained this happened four years go with another plumber. Shows up, can't do the job, tried to sell me a 7k job and then the next plumber cleared it. He then said his supervisor would be by with the camera. I had actually only ordered the snake not the camera. George didn't clear the line. Either his equipment wasn't good enough or he wasn't really interested in cleaning it. He also didn't use a splash shield or flow water through the lines. I told them I had air bnb guests who I had to pay to put elsewhere. And I needed it cleared in order to accommodate them. Over and over I said now is not the time to replace the main for me. They said it would take three days and permits. When I stated it is such a bother cause of my guests he said they could do it unpermitted. The supervisor at one point brought up doing in the next 24 hours ( no permit) . They were so set on this 7000 dollar estimate to dig two holes and lay 30 ft of pipe. When they ran the camera, there was obstructions, but as soon as they hit something, he dropped the equipment and went outside to dig. I'm no professional but i realized after if you were dropping a camera all the way down that line, you would want to try seeing what the obstruction was, not just immediately go out and look for the upsell. I told them I would have to go find other quotes as that seemed really high. They charged me for the snaking and camera even though they didn't clear it, but were just interested in selling me overpriced stuff. I then called another plumber, Leo, from a recommendation off Facebook. Over the phone the guy sounded entirely confident he could fix it. He said if he didn't I wouldn't pay. He was at the house within the hour without a bit of worry. He had a helper and they did what looked like a proper snake. And he showed there is clearly an art and a work ethic to clearing a blockage. The noises that machine made. This whole experience not only cost me hundreds of dollars of lost revenue from guests, but the guests ended up booking another hotel and paid twice as much for their stay, all because Richco employees were so adamant about upselling me on a main house line. And their quote was even 2500 more than another quote I got from another plumber btw. I ended up calling to complain after the next plumber fixed the problem and told me about what other plumbers will do. All it was was a few roots in the lines that needed to be cleared. He suggested cleaning the line every other year as a preventative measure rather than digging it up and replacing it. I called their number which is often an answering service. I got a call back from Eric who said that George shouldnt have even taken my payment if they didn't clear my line. So remember that if you book them. If they don't clear it, don't pay them. I asked him to void the check and send me a photo of it. Eric reassured me that the people in the office knew not to cash the check. Well, the check was cashed. So now I had to call back. Ended up wasting a bit of time with the answering service, then texted Eric. He eventually brought me a check to reimburse me for the 249 dollars they charged for doing nothing but trying to upsell me in a financially challenging time in my life. And cost me hundreds more on top. I really had to Push it to get my refund though. And going by other recent reviews it seems this is the way they are doing business. read more

I have used RichCo at my home in Camarillo 3x now for big and little things. They have flushed out my tankless water heater of hard water deposits, installed a water purification system for the entire house, and have pulled a small rubber duck from a drain where my grandson had sent it floating. I was working with an inspector that ordered a gas pressure test while Albert and Ben were doing a camera inspection. Albert didn't have the tools, which the inspector found bizarre. But the inspector willingly rescheduled the inspection for a week later. The day off the inspection Richco claimed they were unavailable due to a scheduling error on their part. The inspector was very mad but agreed to come again today Friday for a 3rd time for something very easy, so despite me confirming beforehand several times. Albert shows up 1hour and 15 minutes late, without any tools for the test, and asking me what is required.. I show him the correction sheet from the inspector and he says that doesn't mean anything to him...I contact his supervisor to help him. His supervisor tells me he needs to go to homedepot. The inspector comes in, no test has been setup. The inspector is furious and Albert walks in, the inspector asks him where's the tool he got at homedepot. Albert says he never went to homedepot he just went to eat down the street. And furthermore he doesn't know what needs to be done!?! The inspector turns red and tells me to hire a company that's professional and capable!!! When I contacted the supervisor Jeff, he didn't even apologize... I was charged for 3 inspections and no work was performed. They send their workers without the tools and forget appointments that are already scheduled. A gas test is super easy, you just need a meter. To send someone without the meter to do a gas test is asinine. read more

Curious response. I spoke with you last week and told you that I've had a horrible, intermittent odor in my home for many years. DWP came out, I had hired environmental specialists to try and find the source of the smell but nobody could figure it out. Ultimately I personally went under the house and found that when Richco installed a new sewer for me (a very expensive job) they cut the old sewer line but never capped it. The horrible smell was sewer gas seeping into my home. The home where me, my wife and kids sleep. The open sewer line was hidden with clean space wrap and could not be seen until I cut open the wrap. Richco was the only company that ever touched that sewer. Richco still has the paperwork. I asked Richco to come out and cap the line. When you said you would charge me for the work because the 10 year warranty had recently lapsed, I said regardless of warranty this is something you should want to make right. Then you said the company was sold and the deal closed a month ago and Rich was no longer involved in the company. You would not fix your work. Our family has given Richco a lot of work over the years, at three different home and on business. Thats a lot of money. Rich would never treat his customers like this. He would personally came to my home to inspect his men's work. He once told his guys to rip out a job he didn't feel his guys did correctly and he personally did the work. And it was perfect. Still is. That made a big impression on me. That's attention to detail and excellence the Richco name means to me. No more. Now you guys are hiding from responsibility and making excuses. You should act like pros and do the right thing. Like you used to. And if Rich is still involved with the company please have him call me. I needed a plumber to unclog my shower drain on a Friday at 3:00 p.m. I called several plumbing companies in my area, but none could come out sooner than Monday. Think, think, think... I remembered seeing Richco plumbing trucks around town so I checked their yelp scores and called. Sarah answered the phone and within a minute told me they'd be at my house in 30-40 minutes. That is exactly when Eric arrived, put on paper booties (thank you!), and went to work. We came to learn that Eric, who is a manager for Richco, stopped to help us on his way home for the weekend. Within 30 minutes our shower was draining. Sara called and took our payment information over the phone. We could not be happier with their plumbing AND customer service. If anyone deserves a review, it's Rich and his talented team at Richco plumbing. Although they came highly reviewed from a trusted source, we were still happily surprised. We've had 4-5 other plumbers to our house over the last two years, but as they say - the cheap comes out expensive. Not only was Richco able to fix past mistakes, but they completed the new work better than we could have hoped. They not only got my house back in order (including a main sewer line fix, a fix of the connection to the city pipe under the street, a complete waste repipe, and a complete water copper repipe), but they went above and beyond adding in those extras that no other company has ever suggested (extra valves, extra clean-outs, regulators etc) and had no problem teaching me as to what they were doing and why. Rich himself made frequent visits, his team was all knowledgeable and welcoming - we never had an issue leaving any of them in our house unsupervised. They were extremely polite to my family, and my home (I never saw them not replacing booties before re-entering my house, always put down plastic AND paper, and cleaned up each night so we didn't feel out of place in our own house. The house and yard actually look better now than it did when they first came over. They closed all foundation holes accurately, fixed all the drywall, replaced outdated hardware, and people cant tell where the 5ft hole was in my lawn. No other company I've hired has been willing to do so much at such a reasonable price. They've truly earned my business for life and would (and will) recommend them to anyone. read more

Beware of Richo Plumbing when servicing/replacing your water heater! We paid for an extended warranty at the time of purchase 8 years ago which was clearly noted on the receipt. Evidentally the warranty wasn't sent in to the manufacturer (Bradford White) . Richo said they would "still honor" the warranty, but it was going in to cost $1,700 (labor and upgrades) to instal the new tank. We originally paid Richco $1,500 8 years ago for a 75 gallon tank installed with an upgraded warranty. Today the cost of the same size and brand without upgraded warranty is $2,500. Subtract the $800 credit they will give us to replace the tank and the difference is $1,700 which is RIDICULOUS. We discussed going tankless. The bid was MORE THAN $10,000. $5,600 for the tankless system installed plus an additional $4,700 for a home water filtration system. Ben, the gentleman from Richco explained that the tankless system is void of warranty if we do not have a home filtration system. Three other plumbers told me they've NEVER heard of such a warranty stipulation. read more

Plumber came out in order to put a camera down our house pipes, as we thought that they were old and needed to be inspected. The plumber could not fit the camera in the pipes and tried snaking it. The snake got stuck and now whenever we try to do laundry or use the kitchen sink we water goes everywhere in the garage and we get dirt back up in the kitchen sink. Richco has yet to send a plumber back to fix the issue. This was not happening before he tried snaking the pipes and we are now forced to seek out new plumbers who can do the job right. I would advise to steer clear of Richo Plumbing. Their prices aren't cheap either. read more

Plumber told me he couldn't fix the pilot light on my water heater without either replacing the entire gas control valve ($500) which would take a week to order OR by selling me an entire new water heater ($1200). I smelled bullshit. Another plumber from a different organization was called and said the first plumber from ritchco never even replaced the thermocouple. The ritchco plumber told me he did and it didn't work that's why we needed a new control valve or whole new water heater. Plumber number 2 replaced the thermocouple and the water heater fired up. 15 minutes $170. Ritchco plumbing is crooked. Call somebody (anybody) else. My washer and dryer space is incredibly small and is a bit ridiculous for getting things all set up. I had several people prior look at it and not be able to help. After over a year, I finally got both hooked up by myself with the help of a patient friend with tools. Yesterday, the washer became accidentally disconnected and it led to water leakage that thankfully my roommate and I were able to resolve quickly. We called in here because at this point I knew I'd need additional help and I didn't want to mess with it for a long time like the first time. The woman who booked our appointment was very nice and friendly, they scheduled me a next day morning appointment on a Sunday, and George worked quickly and efficiently and got it done! Each time I contacted it was a reactive call to an urgent and important issue. Whether one of the rental homes I manage or my personal home, Richco has responded quickly, provided a detailed analysis of the issues, and executed the repairs promptly. Specifically, we have been extremely pleased with the services provided by Pablo G. He is an experienced plumber technician and explains the issues in great detail after his analysis. Recently, we had a water heater burst at rental home. I contacted Richco Plumbing and they dispatched Pablo within 2 hours of my call. Pablo arrived at the home, analyzed the issues, and explained the repairs needed. Robert went to restrooms explaining the whole time what appeared to be wrong. Robert continued to take the time (Sunday/dinner time) to explain why the whole house backed up. Then he took care of the problem & by 5:30 was done. We are so appreciative to Richco responding quickly (glad we did not have to wait until Monday) and Robert doing a great job. Giving these guys a big fat ZERO. I strongly believe that they tried to seriously upsell me. I had "main line" stoppage. Their proposal was to remove toilet, rip out main line, destroy floor. They said they could not get the snake through the line. I asked why they were not accessing through roof. I was told "we do not do that anymore". I halted work. Called competitor. Competitor snaked through the roof and solved the problem for reasonable fee. read more

Used Richco a couple of years ago and recall a pleasant experience back then. So I called them to address issues at my rental: engle stop replacement under a toilet and regulator/valve replacement in the front yard. Robert came over, nice enough guy. First red flag was that he was pushing a whole toilet replacement. He said it was too old and I had to replace it. I asked if there was a crack, and what was specifically wrong with it. He said water was flowing over the top and there was moisture on the floor. I challenged him on what specifically was wrong and he couldn't/wouldn't tell me. He said he didn't want to take responsibility for breaking it. Ended up getting it repaired for almost nothing- vice the $425 he asked for replacing it. I do not trust them- didn't even leave a customer feedback form. Definitely get a second assessment/cost estimate with this/ these guys. read more

From the professional tone that Allen used when i called late day for the service appointment (that he scheduled the very next day first thing in the morning) to the excellent job the onsite plumber (Robert) did.
