We ordered from here once. We weren't expecting much and yet it still managed to let is down. The first warning should have been that it only took fifteen minutes for two full meals. My wife had steamed chicken and broccoli with a white Chinese and a spicy ginger sauce. Everything was steamed to the point of absolutely no taste. The sauces tasted very metallic. I had the Hunan beef. It tasted like they just coated out in red pepper sauce. Once again very bland. We also ordered the sweet and sour soup. Like everything else, it was pretty awful. Recently tried this restaurant to get some sushi and a good meal. Happened to arrive at 5:15 which was during happy hour. My husband and I shared a nice bottle of wine which was half off. I had the sushi maki special which included soup, salad and three sushi rolls. My sushi was fantastic. My husband had the General Tso's meal including fried rice, spring roll and spicy chicken. Both of us really enjoyed our meals and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

Have only gotten take out there, its actually one of the better places in the Hixson area. They did a decent job with the interior gives it a pricey feel. Hopefully the food critic from the TFP won't give them a crappy review if they don't let her take a cup of sweet tea out the door when she leaves, stuck up loser. read more

My family eats here pretty often. We like certain dishes here. The sushi rolls are pretty good. Service is good but sometimes a few of the servers are either awkward or overbearing. I'd recommend maki rolls, coconut chicken, general tso, and chicken with broccoli. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the Pad Thai. It's pretty bad. I've had it a few times thinking it might've been and off day but no. It's just really bad. Nothing special....no interest in returning. The Mongolian Beef was too spicy. The meat was steamed and did not have the crispy edges. They made me another dish which was just ok. Had the Sushi & Sashimi lunch. Excellent service. Sashimi was fresh with tuna, salmon and snapper. With 6 pieces of sashimi, 1 spicy tuna roll and 4 pieces of sushi....this is was a big lunch for the price. Oh yeah, it also comes with your choice of soup and a small salad. This is our go-to Chinese place. It's clean and updated, there are always tables (the place is bigger than it looks), and the food is dependable. We eat sushi and a good bit of their Thai dishes. I have a gluten allergy and they are always understanding about special orders and lots of questions. read more

A nice little restaurant tucked into the Food City shopping center in Riverview. Sushi is average but competitively priced. Service for the most part has been good but we did have one sever that was little over bearing with our children. I don't think it was anything they were doing. Pretty good! Had the sushi dinner and the California roll was easily in the top two of the best I've ever had. And I've had sushi everywhere from Tennessee to Charlotte and all over the place in my home state of South Carolina. Prices are reasonable and service was good as well. Large menu with your basic Chinese means as well as hibachi. Surely something for everyone in your dining party. I had the maki dinner with 2 egg rolls. It's always scary to go somewhere new and try the sushi. I will say I didn't like the miso soup. I had the avocado roll and the spicy tuna roll. The rolls were perfectly sized. I liked the avocado roll, the avocado was fresh. I really liked the spicy tuna. It had a great kick to it. There was a crunch as well. I had take- out one evening and it was so-so, the hibachi steak was tough and chewy but it was cheap so I didn't complain. They next time I dined in with my boyfriend, this time it was awful! My chicken was chewy and had bad pieces, they brought out the smallest portion of rice possible, my egg roll had a huge piece of bad pork in it. I sent it back and got a spring roll (which they charged me for) & it tasted horrible! My boyfriends dinner was just as bad!! I think I will stick to Ichiban and Fuji and pay the price for good hibachi and stick with Mikados and Rain for Chinese and Thai. read more

Food is good but the service is horrible. We have ate there twice now and because we didn't tip the first time because of poor service, they added it on our bill the next time. The excuse the owner gave us was that he only pays $2 hr. I told him that tips should be given based on service not because he is to cheap to pay his help. The funniest part is that the waitress we had the first time was his wife. I always tip when a server at least performs their job. But I believe that you have a choice to tip or not. read more

Rice Box is my new favorite! I go there almost once a week now for the sashimi trio. The quality of the food is phenomenal, and the quantity for the price is untouchable! The servers are so skillful and willing to humbly serve you, and I got to meet this beautiful young girl (can't recall anyone's name, although, I think my usual server is Scott), who I assume was a daughter of someone. Anyway, she will be a success no matter what she pursues). If I recall correctly, and my server was Scott, he is unbelievably talented at people skills, hospitality intellect, promptly precise service, and dedicated attention to everyone at the table. I personally love their food. My only problem is that normally we call and have it as take out. I normally get the Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp, fried rice, and broccoli. However, when we order my fried rice, they can never get it right! I hate onions so I don't like them in my fried rice and normally the fried rice has onions, carrot, and egg in it. When I ask for the onions to be taken out, they ALWAYS take out everything so it is just rice with sauces and seasonings, no eggs or carrots. Every time we order I say to MAKE SURE that they leave in the eggs and carrots but they never do. I personally don't dislike the taste of it without the egg and carrot but I would really enjoy it when it has it. As for the chicken, it isn't bad, but sometimes it can be really dry. Overall I love their food is great, but I think their service and ordering skills could be improved. read more

Food is spotty here. Order on premise, not from their website. They have dishes such as Sweet and Sour Chicken that are supposed to come with vegetables, but instead you get a plate of chicken nuggets with rice and a side cup of sweet and sour sauce. If you call to complain, they say vegetables never come with sweet and sour. Ignore their website entirely. The spring rolls that come with dinner have been fried in almost rancid oil. I personally would not trust their raw seafood/fish. The Mongolian Beef is good, but again, only served with green onions. This could be a really great restaurant, but that has yet to be seen. read more

First thing I noticed in my first visit to The Rice Box was a very nice atmosphere. Then came the service; they were polite and friendly. I asked for a recommendation and what I got was exactly as he stated and was excellent. Four of us got a variety of food. All was excellent. I found the sushi to be the best I have had in Chattanooga. The prices were much better than you find downtown and it is just a few minutes drive north of downtown up Hixon Pike. The Rice Box will definitely be on places to go when in the area or anytime I want sushi. read more

Came across the Rice Box when we went to the Asian Market. Best find ever! Derek was our waiter. Funny, friendly and very helpful. The salad with the ginger dressing was wonderful. Won ton and hot and sour soup was so good! The broth was a nice clear broth loaded with flavor. I had the three roll sushi lunch special and had some of the General Tso's lunch. The sushi was amazing. Very fresh and firm fish and vegetables. The General Tso's was perfect! Nice spice level and crispy without a ton of coating on it. Our one dissapointment was the Mongolian Beef wasn't that good. Wasn't what we look forward to in a Mongolian Beef. The prices were really reasonable. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. Looking forward to making it a 5 star experience. read more
