"This is why we get take out." I was house sitting, and the table there is more of storage place than a table and two huge dogs who want your dinner. Which is why we ate at the restaurant instead of eating at home. We were greeted and seated quickly. This Saturday night our server Jana had a lot going on. Every now and then someone from the kitchen would yell at her and she was expected to come running. Who is expected to perform well under the conditions of being yelled at?! She got our drinks and order right away, but we didn't see her very much. Table B1 was finishing off a bottle of wine, way to go folks, y'all know how to do date night! I have no idea how much that might cost, I never saw a beverage menu. We both got the Maki (spelling!?) dinner special, which comes with choice of soup and the ginger salad. Now, I know some people want to drink that ginger dressing, to those people I say go eat at Rice Box. I wasn't expecting that much ginger dressing. I got the wonton soup, the flavor and temperature of the soup was great. Meanwhile the table behind me has an incident, something spilled or broke or something. I felt the booth being bumped into and people were shouting. No clue what happened. The table across from us was having a full on banquet and managed to get; spring rolls, some sort of fried appetizer, soups, salads, a lesson on chopsticks for their kid, and their entrees, all before we got 2 places of sushi. I'm not hating, I was envious, the noodles looked great. The table down from that was super rude to their kid and then ignored her for their phones for a while. Meanwhile Jana is being yelled at. Jana, you seem nice you deserve better. Our rolls finally arrive. The salmon and avocado roll was fresh and the sweet potato roll was a great balance of sweet and savory. The sushi was pretty good. Jana brings our check and takes a deep breath, she says she needed a moment for a deep breath. My fortune cookie was broken...what does this mean for my fortune!? I would for sure get take out. Has gone downhill and quickly. Even the fortune cookies are worse now that they switched vendors. Perhaps they are victims of their own success. After repeatedly asking about ingredients in a specific dish (egg) and being told there is absolutely no egg .... we ordered and we received lots of egg in the noodle dish. Misinformed about multiple items. The Sesame chicken had far too much sugar in the sauce. It tasted like candy, not sesame. The staff behind the counter is a bit terse and not very pleasant and acts like they are being tasked with some great favor when they are asked menu questions. My friend and I had lunch here the other day. I live in Cleveland and usually have sushi or Asian food at our Fulin's. I have never been here but the inside was really nice. I liked the atmosphere and decor. They have a to-go area and were handing out orders quite often. We were seated immediately and our server was nice. I had the maki lunch: miso soup, salad, and I picked the spicy tuna and crunchy shrimp roll. I enjoy sushi but usually only ever get spicy tuna and spicy salmon. The soup was delicious. I don't care for miso soup usually but this was very good. The server also brought us a bowl of wonton crisps to use (didn't have to ask). I liked the miso soup much better than Fulin's because their were lots of tofu chunks and the seaweed was smaller and easier to eat. It had great flavor. Salad was fine, nice portion. The dressing was different but good, just too much of it and was VERY cold. I enjoyed the spicy tuna roll as well, it was on par with what I usually get. I've never tried a crunchy shrimp roll and haven't seen it elsewhere. It was great! Very large pieces and tons of crunch; my new favorite. The service was quick and did a fine job. I enjoyed my sushi and you can't beat a great sushi lunch for under $10. I like that you can add a third roll for a couple bucks more. There is also more to choose from than Fulin's maki lunch. I can't comment on their non-sushi food like hibatchi but I'd love to go back if I'm ever in the area. read more

I ordered takeout for my family. I got 3 entrees and lo mein and some pad thai - $60. A tad steep in my opinion for what you get. The lo mein was nothing special and in fact, the meat was barely cooked. It was a very light brown color. Luckily it was beef. The General Tso was fine. Hard to mess that up really. The Kung Pao chicken was an odd color. Redish. Again, nothing specials. The Mongolian beef was tasty. But again, nothing stood out. I saved the pad thai and had it for lunch today. It was pretty dry. Sadly, nothing stood out. It pretty much tasted like most of the buffet places around here and this was made to order. Really enjoy the sushi. The food is always fresh! I like the Maki Lunch or Dinner deal. Get soup and salad and either 2 or 3 sushi rolls. I like for the California roll, shrimp tempora roll and the futa Maki roll.i hwy the wonton soup. A little salty but I like to think of it as flavor crystals. Service is always good, we like Shelly. She will usually add to your dining. Good or bad you ask? My answer is yes. One thing I'm sure of with Shelly is you will always get attentive service. Finding a good Asian place in Chattanooga has been a struggle, at least for me. However, look no farther because Rice Box is absolutely amazing!!! First thing I noticed on their menu online was that you could make almost every entree vegetarian. I ordered the orange tofu and my husband got the Hibachi noodles with vegetables. The noodles were the best we have found so far in all of Chattanooga. Also the orange tofu was on point. Not only was the sauce amazing but the texture of the tofu was absolutely perfect. Most places have no idea what to do with tofu so I was very excited to see how good this place did it. Initially my husband and I were planning on getting dessert but we were so full that we didn't have any room. (That was also a good sign because we came very hungry.) We walked in at 9:25 and were quickly told that the kitchen would close in 2 minutes. Keep in mind the restaurant closes at 10. I have worked in the service industry before and if i am coming in within an hour of close I order quickly and eat quickly so that I am out of the restaurant and the server can finish closing. I have only ever worked in restaurants so trust me I know the restaurant business which is why this is only and probably will be the only bad review I ever leave! I called in a to-go order at 8:25 when I was cut from the restaurant I work at. We ended up getting a late pop so I had to take another table and I ended up leaving a little later then planned well at 9:30 I go pick up my food I ordered. I arrived at 9:43 pulled the door... wait locked. That can't be right they are open until 10pm. Nope, then at 9:45 the open light turns off above my head. I stand at the door for 10 minutes knocking trying to tell them I had a call in order. Doesn't matter a place should be open until they say that are open. Don't own a restaurant and keep unreliable hours posted. If you want to close at 9:30 then gladly do it but don't close early on paying customers. It's rude and bad customer service. Both came with pork egg roll (or spring roll) and rice (steamed, brown, or fried). The wait for food was medium. Food was presented attractively on large plates. The egg rolls were flavorful but not greasy. They were served with packaged hot mustard and plum sauce. The Mongolian beef was mildly spicy and very tasty. The beef was a little cooler than the veggies. The sweet and sour chicken was firm lightly battered white meat chicken with a bowl of S&S sauce. Chicken was slightly greasy but good. Had more of a fishy taste, not as fresh as usually is, my mother ordered sesame chicken and the chicken in the dish was stringy, tough, and couldn't be eaten. My father's dish wasn't that good either and the chicken in it was junk pieces. My mother called and complained to a manager and the guy was a complete asshole, acted like he couldn't find our order which was almost 70 dollars, and also acted like that was normal for their chicken to be that way. The menu is so extensive and everything I tried was delicious. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the sushi is fantastic. Ok, trust me, disregard the negative reviews, those people don't have taste for this type of food...this place is my favorite restaurant. The food and service is amazing, really anything on the menu is good, I recommend habachi noodles, Orange chicken, honey chicken, any sushi roll that sounds appealing to you, and for sure the hot and sour soup. Everything is fresh, the fish is very fresh they get shipments right off the boat every day or 2, as the workers have told my family since we are very close and regular customers.
