Soup was thick and wonton noodles were stale! Husbands shrimp lo mien was the worst he's ever had as well. Place just opened for the day and floors were filthy. I wouldn't say they're *really* authentic, but they're as good or better than anything else I've had at a mom & pop place in the US. Prices are very reasonable and the portions huge. The service was friendly and reasonably quick. Now for the downside: It's a cash-only place, which is super inconvenient these days. On top of that, the ambiance, if you want to call it that, comes across as cheap and dodgy, with hand-lettered signs taped haphazardly to the walls. It's clear they're take-out oriented. That said, I'd definitely eat there again.

Chaos Mongolian Grill -- Where You're the Chef of Your Own Feast…read more If you love food that's as unique as you are, Chaos Mongolian Grill in Chattanooga is your playground. Here, you don't just order a meal -- you build it. Start by picking your protein from a lineup that covers all the cravings: tender chicken, juicy steak, fresh fish, plump shrimp, and more. Next, hit the seasoning station like a pro -- dried chopped onions, garlic powder, garlic salt, and plenty of other flavor-boosters are ready to make your creation sing. Then, pile on crisp veggies, crack in some eggs, and drench it all in your choice of sauces. For the base, I'm a noodle loyalist (they soak up every drop of flavor), but rice, cabbage, and other options are on deck. Once your masterpiece is stacked sky-high, the cooks work their magic on the sizzling grill and bring it to your table hot and fresh. It's not all-you-can-eat, but the "stack it as high as you can" rule means you'll still leave full and happy. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the grill team keeps things moving so you're not staring at your empty plate for long. Yes, the building shows its age, but honestly, the flavors are so bold and the experience so fun, you'll barely notice. If you're ready to unleash your inner chef and eat exactly what you're craving, this spot delivers big.

I'm a big fan of Chinese food and usually try to eat it a couple of times a month. I'm not sure if…read moreit's a positive or a negative, but strip mall Chinese food is pretty standard. The menus all look the same, the choices are all the same, and the restaurant layout always looks the same, regardless of this town city or state you happen to be in the only thing that seems to have variety is the actual quality and taste of the food. With everything else looking identical, it's easy to get load into thinking that they're all the same, but from experience, I can tell you there are some really bad ones out there. Fortunately, New China is a good one. They give you quality food at a good price point and they have recipes that have good flavor, just enough spice and variety to make it taste good. I'm still looking for that stellar strip mall Chinese place, but in the interim if you need just a good Chinese fix New China's a great place to try. They are friendly and quick. Worth a trip.

Expecting this to be a greasy Chinese take-out spot for seldom occasions; I was thrilled to discover an offering of Japanese/sushi, Thai & Chinese cuisine! So wonderful! More fresh options, vegetarian options, and a nice ambiance should you choose to dine in. As I ordered the first time, I enjoyed a sesame chicken entrée, which was soft and delicious. The broccoli (tho I wished more) was steamed/crisp to perfection, not mush. And most importantly, the fried rice was wonderful and did not contain peas which would destroy me. Not kidding.x Will be back to check out the service inside, along with more dishes!

As such, having had Thai all over the US, I can say that this place is solidly in my top-15 locations! Ordered the PadThai and spring rolls. The rolls were generic frozen rolls you can get anywhere, but they were hot and well fried. The PadThai was quite good though and well made. I wish their spice platter had included some Prik Nam Pla, as I like that salty chili flavor, but the food didn't really need it. I knew it would be good when I could hear the wok working behing the counter and overheard the workers speaking Thai. I would say that their 'ThaiHot' was only about a general 'Hot', and definitely an Americanized 'Hot'. Regardless, would recommend and I will be back if my travels bring me close again.
