The appetizers and entree flavors definitely screams N'awlens! The staff is always very friendly, very informative, and accommodating to request. The ambience has a mid-scale/upscale flavor when it comes to their ambiance inside and with the decorations. We got invited back to one of the owners birthday party so we decided to come through. It's been great!! If you come to Chattanooga then this is a must stop location for great food that won't hurt your wallet and the portions are just right.

We had The location is beautiful. The decor was tasteful with nods to Louisiana and New Orleans (NO). We walked in at 9 pm, 30 minutes before they close. We all ordered gumbo but it was sold out. The chef came out to explain so we ordered something else. Chef Mo brought us the remainder of the gumbo so we could have a sample. It was delicious. We ordered jambalaya and shrimp po'boy. The jambalaya was a great pick, the shrimp po'boy was pretty good, the bread was amazing, the shrimp were juicy and fresh. I added hot sauce for some zing. We were full but pre ordered beignets so I had to take one for the team and eat one. The best I've had outside of NO. The chef brought my friends an extra lil treat. Cherry bread puddling. I'll be honest I'm not a fan and did not want to try it. (It's a texture issue for me) However these were different. We were presented with 4 golden brown hush puppy looking delights in a cast iron skillet covered in a rum sauce. I took a small bite, the outside was crispy and the inside was moist chewy and delicious. It was an unexpected surprise. We completely loved the experience and the staff. We will be returning tomorrow to get a full servicing of gumbo! UPDATE: Went back for the seafood gumbo and we were not disappointed.

I had a couple of beers, paid my bill, I went back to my hotel to get some work done, then came back for dinner. Monday night's special is any po'boy and they throw in a cold beer for free! I can't pass that up... I got the roast beef drippings po'boy with horseradish mayo and a side cup of pimento cheese grits; everything was excellent, but the sandwich was really messy. Still tasted really good, though. Three beers, a great sammich (although I'll probably get the oyster or catfish option next time), and a side of creamy grits for $40 total between two visits (that includes tips). I will definitely be back to this place next time I'm in Chattanooga. It looks like there are great specials each night Monday through Friday; I just happened to be here on Monday. Service was very prompt and able to offer some insight on the po'boys, which was helpful. *NOTE* the walk is through apartments and townhouses so pretty safe but no sidewalk for part of it.

The flatbread Cajun chicken pizza was not what was expected, zero Cajun taste on the chicken or pizza but it was still really good with the hot sauce on the side. The Mac and cheese bites were crispy but lack luster and tasted like boxed Mac and cheese barely filled in and the sauce was equally disappointing. The fried oyster and shrimp po-boy was next level. The bread was soft, the oysters and shrimp were crisp and tasty. I asked for the remoulade and tartar sauce on the side and both were good, it was hard to choose a favorite. On Mondays they have a po-boy special if you get one you get a free pint of draft beer. Happy hour is Monday-Friday 3-6 25% off apps.

Best restaurant in Chattanooga…read more Long post alert! If you don't want to read it all, here's what you need to know: * Spectacular authentic New Orleanian cuisine * Deliciously inventive cocktails * Top notch service with genuine, kind people My family and I went to Neutral Ground today for brunch. We have been extremely cautious about going to restaurants since the pandemic hit, and this was probably only the 6th time we've sat down in a restaurant since this all started. We called on our way to see if we needed reservations to sit outside (still haven't sat inside since last May). They said no, and when we pulled up, we saw that they had already set up the table for us, complete with a small fire pit to keep us warm. They are very careful about COVID. Everyone is required to wear a mask, temp checks at the door, and they take your first name and number for contact tracing, all of which was very appreciated. The ambiance is very trendy, kind of like a modern take on a high end 60s bar. Excellent drink menu as well, and they are happy to make anything for you. Ok, the food. We ordered the standard breakfast for our three kids, which consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, smoky bacon and creamy grits. The staff went ahead and split up the meal evenly on three small plates, and it was more than enough for them. My kids are fairly picky eaters, and they are every bite! If you have small kids, you know how rare that is! Speaking of kids, the restaurant is very kid friendly. My wife got the breakfast sandwich, which had spicy sausage and eggs on an English muffin served with plantain and sweet potato chips. It was amazing! The sausage tasted slightly like chorizo, but with a flavor all its own. I ordered the catfish and grits (pictured), and it was perfect. The catfish tenders were fried perfectly; crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The grits were fluffy and creamy with a melt in your mouth sauce on top. All garnished with thinly sliced fresh jalapeños to give it an extra depth of flavor and spice. SO GOOD. We got some apple cider donuts and strawberry hand pies for dessert and both were truly great. The donuts were soft and sweet, while the pies were flaky and light. What the chef is doing at Neutral Ground is extremely unique in Chattanooga: his food is authentic to New Orleans, yet he makes it his own. This is the third time I've eaten here, and the first time we have all sat down in the restaurant. We love many of the restaurants in town, but in my opinion this one can't be beat for its combination of service, ambiance and food.

It was all so delicious and AUTHENTIC. The Gulf Shrimp Salad was the appetizer I was least excited about but ended up enjoying the most! Super fresh and light. The Bahn-Mi was authentic and the NOLA Hot Sausage felt classic and tasty (if you haven't had a Po-Boy before this is a GREAT introduction), but the Crispy Oyster Mushroom really took home the award for our favorite Po-Boy, another pleasant surprise! The broth on the Brisket Meatball Yakamein was otherworldly, but the real show stoppers of the night were the West African Red-Red and the Shrimp & Grits. All in all, you can't go wrong here. The wait staff is with Proof Bar and Incubator and they were incredibly welcoming, fun, and made an effort to help move us to a bigger table because of all the food we ordered. 10/10 will be back. For reference, we went on a Wednesday at 6pm and were able to get seated upstairs (rain prevented sitting on the welcoming patio outside) and they already had reservations lined up which is always a good sign. As someone who lived on MLK for a few years, I can't say how excited I am to have an option like this so close by and with more than convenient hours, especially for later eating!

We drove to the parking lot. It was Thursday at around 7:30 pm, and there was no one sitting inside. We considered whether to pass based on the "fast food" appearance of the place, but, because my spouse wanted crab boil, we went inside. Great decision! Ordered at a counter. I had the fried tilapia platter, which came with fries, Cole slaw and a drink. My spouse had the 1/2 pound crab leg boil, with corn and potatoes. For the boil, my spouse got to select her spicing (garlic, old bay and a few other choices, including combination of all the spices), as well as level of spiciness (hot, medium, mild, etc). We got our drinks and sat for just a few minutes. Then the staff brought out a tray with three large and nicely breaded pieces of tilapia, a large portion of fries and a small, but very tasty portion of slaw. The tray included ketchup packets, packets of tarter sauce, hot sauce and mustard. The tilapia was delicious and I marveled at the size of the pieces, the moistness of the fish and the very nice seasoning of the breading. I was very pleased with my meal. My spouse's crab boil arrived about two minutes after mine, in a plastic bag. When she opened the bag, a beautiful and nicely seasoned portion of crab legs was revealed. My spouse thoroughly enjoyed the crab, as well as the corn and potato. It was an excellent meal. The server was friendly and s few other customers came in and we admired each other's food. We were just passing through Chattanooga, and I'm disappointed that I won't have an opportunity to go back. We definitely would have put this restaurant on our rotation for seafood. The appearance of the restaurant from the outside was a bit off-putting as being fast food, but the inside seating area was well lit, clean and comfortable. And the food was very very good. Prices also good for a decent seafood meal.

The crab legs were THICK and nowhere skinny and seasoned VERY well! I don't remember them allowing me to choose the seasoning last time so I think thats new. I really am making this my goto crab place hoping they keep this up.
