I'm always in search of a cute cozy coffee shop and this one hit the spot. It's small and easy to miss as it sits nestled amongst other storefronts. Inside it is cozy, clean and vibrant. The coffee shop has Colombian influence that roast their own beans right in the front of the coffee shop. The roaster was sitting in the front and doing its thing which was nice to see. I always appreciate a spot that roasts their own beans. I had a cortado which was really good and strong just the way I like it. The shop has menu of foods and pastries which includes Colombian pastries as well. I opted for an avocado toast with smoked salmon which was very good. It was on thick toast with a poached egg. I wanted brunch after a night shift and convinced my fiancé to go with me to this little cafe. We went on a Friday morning around noon and it was quite busy. So busy that they missed my drink order and I had to go back and ask the barista about it (they quickly made my drink afterwards and were very sweet). Also, I didn't know this, but the cafe works similarly to a Starbucks. You order at the front kiosk then find your own seating in the cafe where you wait for your drink to be made. The seating is quite limited as the space is on the small side. Despite this, the cafe itself feels quite cozy and the decor is very aesthetically pleasing. The food is honestly very very good. We ordered a drink and pan de bono for each of us and an alto del ray. I would definitely come back to take out a drink and pan de bono once a week if I could. The alto del ray is also my new favorite way to have poached eggs. I loved it and I've never seen it offered in any other brunch spot I've been to. My fiancé on the other hand doesn't enjoy avocados so he didn't like it much. I'll also add that the alto del ray was surprisingly filling despite its small size. Overall a small little cafe with an equally small menu with amazing food and a small sitting space. Parking can also get tough (everything is metered). I only suggest it for casual meetups for up to 4 people max. If anything, takeout and eating in the park is also a really good option. If this was a spot on the way to work, I'd probably stop by for a coffee at least once a week. read more

I've had this coffee shop on my list for a while and finally visited. They had so many great options and I ordered my usually caramel latte with oat milk. The coffee was delicious. Not sure of the exact coffee beans but their coffee is strong and flavorful. They also serve food and desserts such as affogatos (which is on my list of items to try next time). Rey Sol Coffee was absolutely delightful. There was a bit of a wait because of how popular they are so just keep that in mind. Rey Sol is an outstanding Colombian cafe. Their coffee and food are so tasty. While waiting, I ordered their Pumpkin Autumn Chai Latte which was a perfect fall drink! Once we got seated, for breakfast I ordered the Alto Del Rey which included two mini arepas topped with chorizo, guacamole, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce & rainbow microgreens. It was huge and you can definitely share with a friend. The arepas were so soft and tasty. The chorizo was well flavored. We also ordered the Sweet Wafflebono which was a perfect sweet complimentary to the other savory dish. We couldn't hold back and ordered another coffee once we saw how cute their drinks are in-house! We ordered a latte I believe that came with these adorable bear ice cubes! I've never seen that before. Their smores latte looked amazing but we were so stuffed we couldn't order anymore. I really loved the aesthetic and the wonderfully friendly staff, but unfortunately the coffee tasted just mediocre for me. I ordered the moccachino and my boyfriend ordered a latte; the espresso didn't come through in either of the drinks and sadly tasted a bit watered down. We actually came hoping to try the seasonal smoked latte or the hot chocolate with marshmallows, but both were sold out when we arrived. Desserts on the other hand were pretty good - I've never had tres leches with a strawberry layer in it, and it was an interesting twist. I had a pumpkin latte and totally loved it. Big cup, solid espresso, and forward pumpkin flavor, but not fake or overly sweet. We also tried the apple cider and it was so good. Light, crisp and refreshing, with a hint of cinnamon. For a snack, we tried the homemade chicken and beef empanadas. The food tasted as good (if not better) than it looks in pictures and was decorated with delicate floral touches along with the garden like ambiance which really made the place feel cozy and chic, and hard to leave. The coffee was also high quality and prepared well. We had a latte, passion fruit lemonade, and two avocado toasts with lox- all super tasty and filling. We also had a guava pastry which was light, flaky, and satiating. I saw a guest order the burrata salad and it was a visual masterpiece- will try that next time. Looking forward to returning! I also liked that they offered complementary infused fruit water for guests (self serve). My only constructive feedback is that I wish the temperature indoors where we sat was a bit cooler (we went on a hot day) and it would have felt more comfortable indoors if it wasn't so hot. read more

Bread was nice and crunchy, and the paninis are loaded so its a good amount of food. The shop was busy - we went on a Thursday afternoon. The service was good. A lot of reviews are complaining, however I appreciate the workers working fast to accommodate customers dining in and taking out. Its important to not whine and cry when a place is so busy! Busy is a good sign. The workers did not even take a break the entire 2 hours we were there. The one thing I did not like was the layout of the shop -- when you walk in, there is one table right in front. I think a simple exchange of the table and the two green floating chairs would be perfect. Otherwise, this a nice cafe for breakfast/lunch or a work spot. Came here on a whim and luckily there was a table available outside. It was super busy, as there was only one wait staff on a Sunday around noon, but she was pretty quick given all the tables she had to serve. We ordered two iced coffees. I didn't realize that the iced coffee would automatically come with milk, and so it came with regular milk, though I don't drink dairy, so that was a bummer. But the cute iced coffee bear!! The beet goat cheese arugula salad looked underwhelming but it was wonderful. It didn't even need the dressing (which I thankfully asked for on the side), because it was so creamy and vinegary and wonderful. I had business at the Village of Ridgewood municipal office, so I needed to find a quick and delicious breakfast nearby, and the clerk recommended Rey Sol. I'm glad I followed her suggestion, because this place was delicious! They roast their own coffee in-house, so it's super fresh and delicious. All of the food is fresh made. The avocado toast featured a perfectly poached egg, pickled onions, and a balsamic reduction, which were all superb additions. My colleague chose a create your own breakfast panini that was also fresh and tasty. There are a small amount of tables inside but we were still able to sit, and everything was made quickly as well. Usually I'm hesitant to order chai lattes because I don't know what I'm going to get. Rey Sol has the perfect blend. It's not too sweet and not too bland. We also decided to order a Guava Chicharron with our drinks. It came out warm and the guava jam was spectacular. It has a tarty, sweet taste. Definitely a good amount to share. The aioli was a great touch. The next day I came back with my kids. Ordered the 16oz hot chocolate s'mores. The waitress was very considerate and asked if I would like to split it into two as 16oz was too much for 1 child. I thought to myself "how wonderful". I then ordered the choripan sandwich. I was once again pleasantly delighted with the taste of the sandwich that I ate the whole thing by myself- didn't share at all. By far a lunch favorite! I cannot wait to come back.
