Restoration Hardware is totally an "aspirational" furniture and home-wares store. As soon as you enter you are confronted with gorgeous textiles, incredibly comfortable couches and lounge chairs that, within minutes, you could easily fall asleep in. In simple terms, their home wares are beautiful and comfortable. But that beauty and comfort do come with price tags that reflect that beauty and comfort. Now, to be fair, RH is one of the few furniture/decor stores I've been in where the furniture is clearly built to a) last and b) be extremely comfortable. I've visited this store many times and I have never received even a glance of annoyance. And I think that is very intentional. They want you to know that their store carries quality. And even if you can't afford to buy it TODAY, you might very well think about it again in the future when you have more expendable income. If you walk into this store (actually, showroom since only small things like blankets can be taken home directly from RH) with around 5 to 7 thousand dollars, you can expect to have your customized sofa delivered in a week or two. And it will be beautiful. And likely the most comfortable piece of furniture in your home. Is it worth several months' rent or a couple mortgage payments? That's for you to decide. I mentioned that I've never been treated poorly for enjoying the uber-comfortable furniture for ten minutes. Additionally the employees have treated me the same whether I'm in a t-shirt and running shorts or tailored slacks and a blazer. Anytime I've had a question they've seemed genuinely eager to help. And I've bought some lovely (small) gifts for my mother here. And while the merchandise is on the pricey side, you are not just buying a label. The merchandise both looks AND feels expensive. Loved the light fixture we purchased; received it on date promised BUT two electricians later, the chandelier sits in the box. Problem #1: Salesperson promised white glove service, the delivery team will assemble the chandelier and your electrician will connect the wires. electician #1 left quickly after seeing what needed assembly. Electrician #2 left in search of a part that was not included. QUESTION: If the saleswoman could tell us to organize an electrocian, would it have been so hard to say Step 1 of the instructions requires a part RH does not provide but you cannot begin installation without it! So the Home Depot Electrician #2 went to did not have still we wait. Customer service for RH or the salespeople at RH - please communicate to customers vital info so we are not wasting days hunting down hardware parts? People shouldn't have to wait DAYS to enjoy a stunning chandelier? read more

I bought the best bathroom towels from Restoration Hardware about 12 years ago and they are still looking and feeling great!

After my initial visit with RH Pasadena, I felt the same way as the people who left 1-2-star reviews. Everyone was on their laptop working and I felt like a nuisance asking for help. I went to the Melrose location and the designers there were much nicer, but the one I was working with only gave me lip service and never followed through. Wasted my time and gas. So, I went back to the Pasadena location... During my second visit to the Pasadena location, I was talking to the manager, Sarah, who was super friendly and she connected me to Emily. Certain things I knew I wanted right away, but was annoyingly indecisive with other. Emily was incredibly patient with me, wasn't pushy and prompt with all my email inquiries. Customer service was great during AND after the purchase. I know this location doesn't have the best reviews but I wouldn't let it deter you. Also, I purchased some other pieces in the past. RH pieces are pricy but the core pieces are worth the investment. My older pieces look good even after 3 moves. read more

For someone like me who has never been big on shopping for furniture, Kate and Mei not only made us feel at home, but helped with the interior design of the home we're building. As you know, RH is a household name across the country and rightfully so. Their catalog is elegant but understated. Their prices are not inexpensive but not over the top. The virtual renderings they create enable the client to clearly see what the pieces will look like in the finished home. I'm a pretty finicky customer that expects a LOT from just about anywhere I give my business to and I can only say good things about this store and the RH brand in general. The designer I worked with (Amy Cross) was promoted and transferred to another store but she is incredible. Just about everyone else that works at this store is very professional, friendly, and courteous. I'm sure every store has its bad apples but I have not met any thus far. This is really more a general review. I was looking at a table that was going to cost $301 dollars they wanted $249 in shipping for a 9lb table. Customer service basically said too bad. I'm aware that RH has had a lot of issues with their supply chain and many of the stores have a poor sentiment on Yelp but I experienced no such issues while purchasing living room furniture over the holidays at the Pasadena store. No snooty attitude, and the furniture was delivered within a reasonable time frame in-tact. I love my metal parquet tables! I've actually been to several other RH stores in the Bay Area as well and they've always been polite so I sometimes wonder if it's only angry reviewers who post on Yelp or if it's really justified. read more

Came in today with the Wife to see some items in person that we had been looking at online, when we first walked in we were slightly ignored as if they were sizing us up before deciding to interact with us, but one of the girls quickly greeted us once we were on our way out. She ended up being very informative, friendly, and helpful. I'm glad she approached us after all because we will be buying several items from her as soon as we have final measurements in our home. This particular show room has a lot of rustic items but also has some really elegant light fixtures, I wish they would carry more of the high end bedroom sets and dining tables they advertise online so that you can experience the material and quality in person before purchasing online. read more

This store is awful. Like many reviewers had mention that the storefront workers here are not friendly and knowledgeable. I have a trade account with RH. So I've called ahead to request an exchange transaction with the reps there. They said to bring it into the store and the sales associate will know what to do. I walk in with an exchange of two 18" towel bars for one 30". I've explained it is an exchange. They went and returned my two towel bars. Didn't complete it as an exchange at all meaning in order for me to purchase the 30" towel bar I will have to pay shipping. Also to make matters worse they refund it to my old credit card which I don't use anymore and no longer exist. Meanwhile the transaction is going on, all four sales reps were just at a small dining table talking among themselves and ignoring me. When that one rep had a question for me they would all look at me and observe. It was one of the weirdest experiences I've ever come across. I've been to other RH stores and this one was by far the worst experience. Don't ever want to come back if I don't have to. I'll drive to the other store if I have to. read more

I am a designer and happen to have a very good report with all of my clients. I give them the best service and make them feel like they are the only client I have. And they feel that way, because every single client matters. Restoration Hardware has a great concept...and a lot of my clients like many things in the store. So I decided to open an account with them, to be able to give my clients what they want. However...the experience was below my expectations. From management to sales associates no body knows what's going on there. I opened the account a week prior on ordering anything. Than when I walked in to place an order they didn't have any of my paperwork. So they made me fill out a new form, which is fine! Than they told me I have to wait 10 days to get my check cleared to have anything happen at all...meanwhile the merchandise is in stock and my check was cashed the following day and had cleared my bank. Than I call back to check on status of the order...the girl didn't know anything. And kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I still don't have any idea to when the merchandise will be available or what to expect. She kept saying the back office and that she didn't know. and there was no one to check with. It is so sad...it's like red tape corporate mumbo jumbo. No one takes responsibility for anything. They are like robots. It's like getting a home loan. They are so boring. I really was expecting a lot more from them. If you want to put your money in the hands of people that are incompetent and sound like bankers and have no clue...than go ahead and shop there!!! This review is for one of the designers on their team. The store manager is very accommodating, which is why I maintained a two-star rating instead of one-star. The designer, Sevile, leaves me with little desire to work with RH (even though I love their aesthetic). She had an arrogant phone manner and left a confusing voice mail with bizarre grammar. I may be a bit particular on the next point but the email (from the designer) was obviously a generic message that lacked sincerity. It opened with reference to a conversation that has yet to take place. Not the best way to begin a collaborative relationship. I'm also mildly irritated that it took several days just to receive an email for the purpose of requesting an appointment with a designer. The phone call follow-up took another day or so in which the designer seemed as if she couldn't be bothered at the end of a business day. To be honest, the store manager -- Susan -- would be the only reason I'd reconsider as she was understanding of my reluctance to work with Sevile and offered to pair me up with someone else. I'd suggest proper training so clients aren't thwarted by a lackluster impression. After all, first impression does matter. Perhaps I'd have better luck next time. read more

I got my bookshelf together with my sofa from this location, the experience was actually pretty great. Unfortunately, last time I was there the friendly Italian girl is gone. Instead, some snobby uneducated woman managed to be a salesperson in the store. She was rude and always chatting with her equally annoying colleagues like that's the utmost important thing while ignoring customers. Bought a Maison vanity last month with a Crema top. The delivery was made but the top and backsplash had cracks with the latter in the worse condition. I called customer service for a replacement and was told the next shipment will be in December. Our master bedroom was torn apart for installation of these pieces and weithout a bathroom to use for 4 months, I insisted to get a replacement sooner. The store promised a delivery today, a 3 weeks wait. The replacement came today. I insisted that they open the packaging so I can inspect the quality of the top. The delivery guys said they do not open units like this top. I told them that the store permitted it. Also the dispatcher also confirmed it. The guys finally opened it and saw the crack. It was disappointing. I also bought a 70" vanity mirror with these store. There was also a crack. I am still waiting for a replacement for this item. This store's quality control is so bad. They value profit ahead of the quality. They are in the "bait and wait" policy - you are stuck with their merchandise until the manufacturer builds another one for them, i.e., wait months before you get one. The lack of communication between this company and manufacturer is so bad as evidenced by the same miscommunication between the dispatcher and the delivery guys. I wish there is a "no star" rating for them. Do not buy anything from this company!!! read more

I really want to say how amazing RH is. A true example of you get what you pay for. We bought an oak dining table last yr (grand baluster), which was so beautiful. We actually purchased this at the Boston location nearly a yr ago (gorgeous location). In the process of moving, our movers in Boston discovered that there was a crack in one of the legs as well as the tendon (occurring thru a natural knot in the wood). In any case, we went by the RH store in Pasadena, explained the situation, showed photographic evidence, and they arranged for an exchange of our table. The entire exchange process was painless, and our new table is perfect. RH customer service is top notch. Highly recommend!! read more

We have a house built in 1935 so when we had asap hardware needs, we thought of Restoration Hardware. The folks at the Pasadena store were helpful and we were able to order items that were delivered in just a few days. The items arrived in good condition, and 3 years later are holding up and still looking great. Sadly, the online experience of RH is vastly differently. We ordered a hooded towel for our grandson from RH baby site and with an estimated time for delivery 5.5 weeks. We thought they were overestimating delivery time... but not so. Then I checked yelp reviews and discovered just how little RH seems to value customer service. Would I go back to the Pasadena store? Probably. But customer service for the overall organization would make me hesitate for any big purchases. read more

One of these days I'm going to grow up to be a gay man. Or at least marry one. I mean, huh? Well, I have always loved design and a certain peacefulness comes over me when I walk around home stores and look at these delightful things that will never be in my house. This one was of course mobbed because it's the holidays and people are trying to get their shop on. That's okay, I only buy gifts at Resto (sad isn't it that I have abbreviated it this way). Over the years, I've bought cute glasses, throw pillows and for Christmas, they come out with their packaged gifts. Many of which includes old fashioned games and toys. Right now they're doing 30% off their gifts (they can do better than that!) but my friend felt it was a good enough deal to get the 6-piece finger puppets set (30% of $18) and also a miniture xylophone. For some strange reason, the cashier did not charge her for the xylophone. I guess they are frazzled by the overwhelming amount of people in line? Not really, there was never really much of a line and perhaps the guy was just be nice. Or weird. Or whatever but hey, free xylophone! If only we thought to try that with the giant puppets set with stage (only 30% off $69!). read more

I've been to many of their locations for different reason (inventory usually). I like this location if I'm just picking up something I'm looking for. They've had finials and bath hardware available when other locations didn't. I can't speak for furniture, nor lighting. I would suggest calling in advance, if you looking for something in particular. (Same goes for the Camarillo outlet location) I can't even imagine how it would work to buy a large item and bring it to your car. This one loses a star for parking...you know how Old Town can be. I purchased outdoor lights, was told lights will be delivered by June 10th. Item was ordered on may 25th, and had relied on the info give to me by the sales rep, Thomas, and several times I called and followed up. I called again on June 11th when items didn't arrive, and was told that item still has not been shipped, and will come by June 20th. This company is charging a huge markup for their items, yet provides worse service than home depot. Will never deal with them again. Stay away, save your money. read more

RH has a nice floor setup although I wish it was bigger to have more samples of their furniture pieces. The furniture is well-made and beautiful, but comes with a hefty price tag. And the ordering times can be quite lengthy, ranging from 2 weeks to a few months. That may be the only downfall aside from spending a few weeks salary. This is the worst RH I've been to in California, I recommend going to another location at all costs. I came in here to look pillows or fabric samples for pillows, pretty simple, right? When the storefront workers approached me and asked what I was looking for they were extremely patronizing and rude when they told me they "don't do that here, you order those online". They wouldn't even show me fabric samples or patterns for me to order online, what kind of business expects you to come to a home decor storefront and not see examples of the product you're purchasing or at the least fabric samples? My drapes and shades were installed (Sept 20th...The installer is amazing, from RST Installations) and I have been using them and enjoying them tremendously! The material and the colors work very well in all the rooms. The shades are easy to operate without too much trouble. The blackout shade is truly blackout but light does come in on the sides. Glad I got the liner on the office shade because the sun does shine on that side of the house. The shades do have a natural crease in them, that fades when you leave the shade closed for a long period of time. But it returns when you open it. So frequent open and closing equals, a crease. (Thus the natural linen and cotton fabric) If that would bother a customer, perhaps the tailored roman shade would be cleaner. Drapes are easy to open and close, although I will be getting the drapery wand to prevent hand oils repeatedly touching drapes. I was expecting a little more wave when the drape is closed but more fabric equaled more money that I was not sure I wanted to invest in and I thought it would make the room heavier. I am glad I got the longer length. Installer agreed. It does make a difference. I found a wonderful seamstress that hemmed them for about 60 dollars. The installer is my kind of worker. Punctual, tidy, skilled, thoughtful, focused, and thorough. I valued their work so much that I asked them to come back to install my daughter's drapes that I had handmade. There was unforeseen trouble with the dynamics of these curtains and the installer came back a second time to adjust to perfection. I also spoke/emailed Suzanne from RST Installations several times and she never insulted my many questions. She was always upbeat and ready to help. I think she is a night owl like me, because I was surprised and happy she would respond to my late night emails right away. Thank you again Thomas @ Restoration Hardware for all your help and setting up the order, more than once!! Please accept my deepest thank you! I appreciate it so much. The designers I used to work with were amazing too bad they all have left. these new designers dont like to help clients. i have spent thousands as of dollars in this shop and I called asking for a local dry cleaning referral and after calling them 3 times they said they can't give me that information. It's a referral if anything i'm going at my own discretion... i also called to get a design meeting for curtains and they said they'll call me back but nobody called and this was 3 months ago. shame it's a great company hut staff needs assistance. read more

For years, I have enjoyed walking through Restoration Hardware on the west side of Old Town Pasadena as a way to process current projects. Periodically, I have found something useful to purchase. Though with the advent of the well-produced Spring 2011 source book and the even larger Fall 2011 sourcebook, I prefer the catalogue version of the same shelter experience, surprisingly enough. The nostalgia-steeped sourcebook is an excellent wishbook showing useful combinations of products and well-designed explanatory details. In contrast, right now the Pasadena store is stocked with the same merchandise, some of it is way too bulky to walk around and amid. Of course, when the opportunity presents itself, by all means, please, check out the real product for verification. Also, the Pasadena crew staffing the store are very helpful. read more

If anything goes wrong with any aspect of your transaction, you are on your own. The manager offered me some small amount of store credit for my troubles to placate me on some damaged merchandise I had gotten for a remodel but there were no replacement parts available for something I had bought just a week previous anywhere, which is bizarre. A part time employee was blamed, of course...but I doubt it was actually their fault. Once I got corporate involved the nightmare only deepened until I just returned everything and started over. There was some bad noise over simply returning the damaged merchandise even. This was all while my contractor was sitting on the job for the working week it took to get the issue sorted without resolution from RH. Overall, dealing with RH was unnecessarily difficult from the front end store to corporate, so even though they have some cute stuff, I would rather just go elsewhere after they held up my remodel for a week fighting with me over damaged crap that they had no replacement for. read more

I purchased 4 swivel chairs from RH store in Pasadena that are in their catalog and in their store. At the time I was considering the purchase, I was told there were 2 in stock, however 2 days later when I went to order these chairs they were not in stock so I placed the order for 4 chairs. I was not in any way told these were a custom order and their rules are you have to cancel within 24 hours or you lose your 50% deposit. After consulting with my own designer two days later she told me I only needed 2 chairs. I immediately contacted RH store to ask them to cancel two of the four chairs. They informed me that even though I'm not getting delivery on the chairs until March 2022, I can't cancel because it had gone over the 24 hour cancellation period. I have asked repeatedly and they will not budge and I will lose my 50% deposit. The people there don't seem to care much about customer service at all. I have purchased many items from RH and I will never do business with them again after this experience. Very disappointing. There are so many better places to do business with better quality furniture and much better customer care. read more

Was absolutely thrilled to see NOBODY shopping in Restoration Hardware the weekend before Christmas... I'm disgusted by the shift in attitude in this store, to which I was a loyal and high-value customer for years. I used to love coming here during the holidays as they always had such an incredible selection of decorations and gifts. Not anymore. The store is now too pretentious to even decorate and there was, again, NOBODY in the store while Colorado Boulevard and literally every other shop on the street was jam-packed with holiday shoppers.
