I don't usually come out to this side of town. Happen to come here on a Tuesday night and they have selected sushi rolls for half price. Super busy when I come in, but thankfully no need to wait for the table. Inside is very clean and I love the tall ceiling.  And seems like they have quite some special for Tuesday, some appetizers, hot dishes and sushi rolls. Beside the specials, the regular menu is very extensive. I ordered a few sushi rolls and the grilled squid rings. Love the grilled squid and the sauce compliment it very well.  It was quite busy, so the service and food is a bit slow. But the good food and atmosphere make it worthwhile. My original plan was to go to Raising Cane's in front of a place with Raising Cane's close so me and my little sister decided to come to this place. Magnificent service. The server Garrett was very attentive to our every need and the food was nothing short of delicious. Even spoke to the manager and he's had a very good positive attitude. Came here on a date on a Tuesday night during their half off sushi so there was a wait. To get seated you put your name in and unfortunately have to wait there (i.e. they won't call you when your table is ready). Since we had over a half hour wait we risked it and went to the Mexican place a few doors down and came back in about 25 mins and lucked out. Drinks: got two same flight - each $15 with 3 pours. Good price. Only one unfiltered sake. Food : while it was the "basic" rolls that were on special there were plenty of options with good variety. We got three basic and one of the specialty rolls bc I was craving eel. All of the rolls were tasty my favorites being the dragon and the spicy tuna. Fresh fish. Excellent for the price and the best I've had in the gahanna area. Service- very friendly. On the slower side but we were in no rush. Overall great for a date or small group. We live just around the corner and only recently started coming here regularly. It's a little on the expensive side so not an "everyday" place. More of a special occasion place. Yesterday we had a rough morning and went there for lunch. The last 2 times we have gotten gyoza as an appetizer - so delicious. My companion has gotten a few different stone pots (Spicy Seafood is a favorite), and I have gotten an Easton roll and Snow Mountain roll. All of it is the kind of food that I can sit and savor. The flavors are so good! Service has always been speedy and friendly. The last couple of times we have been served by Ryan, who is very personable and cheerful but efficient. One of the few places I've found in Columbus that serves real crab and not just imitation crab stick. Yellow tail, salmon, and tuna nigiri are always good quality. Recently tried their toro and torched scallop nigiri, which were wonderful (1 piece each per order as opposed to 2 for most of the others). All the rolls I've tried were great. A lot of their rolls have cream cheese in them, which I don't love, so I look for the rolls without. I'm sure you could ask for no cream cheese on a roll, I just haven't yet. I went for an early dinner(about 5) and for a short time was the only person dining in, there were several coming in for carry out. The server was exceptional! On my check it says my server was Bonma C. This young man was polite and helpful, checked on me without being bothersome. I ordered karaage chicken and the Humphrey roll. Both were delicious! The server asked if I had a preference as to what order my food came out and even gave me different sauce for the chicken because an order is large and I might want more than one sauce to try. This is my second time here and I needed one more visit to inspire this review. First and foremost I read other reviews and most don't care for the sushi based on price and lack of portion so don't eat here if that's all you will get. This is Japanese influenced so step out your usual and try something different. The restaurant is in a strip mall off Hamilton Road in Gahanna and easily accessible with ample parking. Small and quaint restaurant. The service is attentive and timely. The ambiance is great for a nice romantic dinner to a more elegant family dinner. They do have kid options for the youngsters. My teenager is adventures so the menu was appeasing to him. We ordered a few Kalbi boxes, a sushi roll and Lobster Miso Soup. The soup was full of chunks of lobster with the richness of the miso and broth. A salad was served before the Kalbi boxes. What a nice salty and sweet sauce on top of the salad. The Kalbi box includes many different options to enjoy. The beef is short rib and tender and sweet. Perfect balance when eaten with the rice. Grab a few bites of the croquet or fried tofu. A Cali roll and spring roll finish out all that's included. Oh boy, that's a killer box that stuffed my belly. Tora is a solid Japanese spot in Gahanna. My lunch a few weeks back exceeded my expectations. First of all, the restaurant's ambiance is modern and chic. Don't let its strip mall location fool you. Its minimalistic interior with futuristic spherical light fixtures and white paper table covers add an unexpected aura of class and luxury to this Japanese restaurant. I ordered the Hiya Yakko (cold tofu with bonito flakes and soy sauce) and an Alaska roll (salmon, avocado and cucumber) to start. The tofu dish was just okay. I usually order Agedashi tofu, which is a warm deep fried tofu, which I much prefer. The cold tofu just threw me off. The Alaska roll was pretty simple, but well put-together and well-portioned. For $6.50, it's one of the cheaper rolls. The rolls range from $4.99 to $15.99 and there are over 50+ different varieties to choose from. Some of the fancier rolls sound pretty awesome and I would come back to try some. The chicken katsu don was huge! The chicken was tender with the onions and eggs well incorporated on top of the chicken. While the portions were impressive, I found the chicken to be underseasoned. It needed more salt and maybe more sweetness from additional onions. Prices were fair considering the portion sizes. It's 1/2 off sushi rolls on Tuesdays, so that's a pretty good deal. The waitstaff was pleasant and uniformed. Although I wasn't fully satisfied with my chicken katsu main, I suspect Tora's specialty sushi rolls are the way to go. Customer service here leaves a lot to be desired. We had a reservation on New Year's Eve. The restaurant asked us to change it because they had another big party. I said it was no problem. I asked them the choice of times, so we changed to the time that worked. When we showed up the table was too small for seven of us. I tried speaking to the waiter, showed him the text confirmation and explained to them what happened, asking if they could do something to accommodate. They insisted there was nothing they can do. We were there for 1 1/2 hours, I saw plenty of unused small tables that could've been moved over among other things that could've been done to accommodate. They don't seem to care much about their customer service. read more

We were almost about to go on a 30 min drive from where we live , and then I found this. Literally 12 min from Turtle Station, plus points ! I was really impressed w the sushi at tora. They have an extensive menu with korean and japanese items. We started w the curry croquettes and the appetizer sampler and both were great. The croquette is made w potatoes. The appetizer sampler had shumai, dumplings, "candied" shrimp, and calamari. The miso soup was excellent. I had three rolls - humphrey roll was my favorite, amazing fried goodness with scallops and salmon. But i also really enjoyed the shrimp tango roll. The sashimi platter was also very fresh. We ordered more than we could finish and i was pretty distraught over having to throw away excellent sushi. We had a reservation but still had to wait a bit, but the staff was nice and they gave us free cocktails and edamame. They offer a variety of options, from sushi bar, kitchen, Japanese and Korean. I started with a Tuna appetizers - It was so good. I would have been ok just eating a few of those. The plate consists of a lemon mouse (non-sweetened whipped cream with lemon), then they place a small roll raw tuna on top, with garnishes. The plate was beautifully decorated with some spicy mayo (I think) and another sweet sauce. I wanted to lick the plate when done. It was that good. I also ordered beef kalbi from the kitchen. Very large portion served with rice. I could not finished everything. It was not as good as the sushi. I should have stick with sushi and try some of the rolls. They have selected sushi items on their menu on this day for 30% and 50% off. The salmon, tuna, and crab stick option in rolls, whether, raw or fried are honestly the freshest rolls I've had in Columbus. The sake comes either hot or cold and is a large size for only $5.50 on Tuesdays that is smooth, strong but cleanses your taste palette when switching to a different flavored roll. It took me forever to drink it by myself. It's probably meant for 2 people but my friend he had one too so we just drank our own lol. Even on a reg non HH night the reg prices are not bad at all. The decor is dimly lit inside with these origami looking lights hanging from the ceiling. It's a crowd whenever I come but never a wait to be seated. I always forget about this place. It's close enough to Easton to be convenient on a shopping day while being separated enough to not be considered stressful from Easton. I've been here twice. First time was years ago when I was in this awkward period in my life where I was mostly taking pics and not doing reviews. It was not super long after they first opened either. It was ok. I probably would have given a decent three and a half stars, figured in significant figures and we round to four. This visit I feel they have really progressed with time. The quality of my sushi was really spot on. So they have a super expansive menu. If you have sushi crazed friends and you're "meh" about the experience, I feel like they have a ton of "regular" options that are not overly Japanese that you can enjoy while your friends enjoy amazing sushi. Be that cool friend, bro. Just give it a try. The sushi was very tasty. I felt the rice was light and held together nicely. There's a fine line between being light and not sticky and then completely falling apart. The rolls I felt were wrapped with just enough pressure to keep it all together and not smashed. The husband and I are typically fans of eel and crab stick. Today we had a mixing of the two at varying complexities. The Tora 2 we felt was about a perfect mixing of everything as it had both and was also fried with avocado on the outside. We are certain that it's our new favorite. From four rolls today I feel full and satisfied without being gorged. Everything tasted very fresh and overall great presentation. Service is good. We have ordered Tora twice now for carryout and both times it has been great. While a little on the expensive side for dinner, I love good sushi and they make yummy rolls plus appetizers. Rolls are $8-$12 in general and they no longer do 1/2 price on Tuesday (don't blame them, times are tough). I love the gyoza dumplings as they have a good crisp outside and the filling is high quality. The spring rolls are also delicious and filled with fresh veggies. Salmon roll was ok but the fish was cut in a way that made it a little cumbersome to chew and the avocado had no flavor. I went to Tora for lunch today and had a pretty tasty meal of sushi. The place sits in a strip mall, but you'd never guess that once you're inside with the beautiful decor. I took a seat at the sushi bar, and the hostess was super nice and very quick. I didn't get to look at much of the other parts of the menu, but they do have some nice lunch specials for the sushi. I ended up going with a Rising Sun roll and the spicy salmon roll. There were a few tables seated when I went in, but it wasn't very packed, and my sushi rolls came out really fast. It could be based on the fact that they were pretty slow, but it was nice, since I was just taking a lunch break and needed to be in and out. The sushi looked and tasted great, especially the special Rising Sun roll. That roll by itself was pretty filling, and I'm assuming a lot of their special rolls are, so you probably don't need a second one unless you're super hungry. Arvid and I met for lunch here on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. They have a nice patio space, however no tables were out do to the cool breeze to start the day. Tora's lunch menu applies only Monday thru Friday, so it took me some time to scan the regular menu. I was stuck. I couldn't decide on a hot stone bowl, sushi, a salad, my mind was all over the freaking place. I was elated that their menu shows pictures of every roll and dish - big help :) Also, we had an attentive waiter. He even marked what sushi rolls he likes/recommends. I finally went with the Chicken Hibachi box. It gave me a taste of several different items in the different compartments of the "tray". Of course, comes with Hibachi chicken (duh!), a scoop of white rice, A lightly fried tofu square with a sweet orange sauce drizzled atop, a breaded potato-and-veggies-pancake, and five cuts of their California Roll. Lots of flavors! The fried tofu was swell. Subtle tastes mixed with the sauce gave it two thumbs up. The potato cake was also savory. Great refreshing California Roll, too. The Hibachi was packed with veggies - yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms - personal favs! The chicken was a bit on the dry side, but still had a decent flavor. Looking through all the pictures in the menu was somewhat torture on my five senses, so I look forward to coming back and try more offerings. read more
