yaki soba with tofu (front) and chicken karaage (back)

first of all, atmosphere was 100/10 romantic and serene. our wait staff was very kind and helpful. my partner loved his karaage and sushi but my yaki soba was just okay. not as many vegetarian entrees as I had hoped. the age tofu appetizer was absolutely delicious, however. definitely try it! perfectly fried yet soft on the inside with a mouth-watering sauce.

I've driven past this place for years but finally got the chance to try it a couple weeks ago to celebrate passing boards with my mom. We didn't make a reservation but we arrived around 5:30 on a Friday and were seated immediately but it filled up pretty quickly after. The insane was a lot nicer than expected and the service was great. Everyone was very welcoming. We started with the spring rolls which came in bite sized pieces so it's great for sharing in bigger groups. I of course had to try their sushi and I went with an Alaskan roll and a specialty roll (I believe snow mountain) they were both delicious and fresh. My mom got the teriyaki snapper and it was so good! I would definitely return there!

I love Tora, this place is very amazing! We got almost the same food like we had last time, the presentation always beautiful and the food was beyond that! My husband and I can't get enough of Hamashi! (Fried fish) If you have a chance to come, please order HAMASHI! THE BEST!!!!! Our server was so kind to, thanks for the cake :)

I popped in to order takeout for me and my sister for a late lunch. We got 3 rolls and 2 spicy mayos. Total was $28, which felt like a good value for the great quality of the food. It was noticeably better than a cheaper sushi spot. We ordered a shrimp tempura roll, Philly roll, and Tora #3. Would eat them all again in a heartbeat. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating and asked if I needed a drink while I was waiting. While I didn't dine in, I have to comment on the dining room because it is SO cute. It feels fancy enough for an anniversary dinner, but approachable enough for a quick lunch during a day of shopping. Definitely found my new go-to spot when I am town visiting my sister.

The food quality doesn't match the service and atmosphere here. Service is really good, but the food is really bad. Tora signature roll is very disappointing me because the shrimp tempura inside is NOT crispy and crunchy at all The rest sushi is just ok and normal. The blue fine tuna sushi is not really fresh, the tuna is too soft. Same for sea urchin. I searched "top rated restaurant" and come here but it's really disappointing, not recommend to everyone.

We are a frequent at this place but this time it was sooo disappointing. We waited for our sashimi orders for a very long time! I can understand if the sushi chefs were busy but they were not. The tall bald guy was just standing and chatting most of the time, the other one was so so working and the third one was not any better. Even after a couple of follow ups they were not in any rush to complete orders. The tall bald guy even picked his ears with a stick in front of the sushi bar. Disgusting. We will not be coming back. Go to Mr. Sushi instead!

I'm a sushi snob and this is the best sushi on the east side of Columbus, if not in all of Columbus. The fish is always fresh and I've seen them turn away fish from their distributors if it wasn't up to par. If you're not a sushi fan, they have a ton of other options. Might I suggest the lobster miso soup? The staff and owners are top notch and they usually have uni available. PRO-TIP: ask to try some of their craft soy sauce (barrel-aged, etc). Adds more flavor to the already great tasting offerings!

I've recommended this place a bunch, but our last visit was pretty bad. We went for a date night recently and showed up around 7:45pm. We had't been here for a while due to a new baby, but treated ourselves to 7 rolls knowing we could take some leftovers. As our rolls arrived the restaurant cleared out quickly and we were the last table (8pm, they are open until 10). We got our rolls, and one of our favorites 'storm roll' came out and looked funky, instead of spicy tuna they just used tuna (likely out of spicy tuna mix). Bad part is, this is a deep fried roll, and if you are wondering what tuna deep fried tastes like, boiled hot dog water. It was disgusting, and also cut into thin-thin strips (like pickle chips). Waiter took forever to come back and when questioned about it said they need to close up soon, but they could make it again (same way - no thanks). $100 meal, poor service, food was not good - quality control and standards appear lower. I don't think I'll be recommending this again or going anytime soon. Mr Sushi is great for those in a similar predicament.

I had my birthday dinner there on 11/26 with 9 friends and everyone selected different sushi rolls, appetizers, and entrees. We tried everything from each other. All of it was delicious! I now like sushi. The chocolate was even delicious. Loved the wine too. Our wait staff was excellent!!! I'm so glad I chose this restaurant. Parking may be tight but worth it.

One of the few restaurants in Columbus outside of the short north that is open past 9 on a Friday night!!! Right there is a win for me plus the food and service was great - much deserving of its 5 stars!! Food: We ordered the bluefin tuna and hirame nigiri from the day's special menu, the Sakura roll from their regular sushi menu, the friend chicken appetizer and the Korean beef BBQ from their large menu - too many menus - if they simplify the way their menu options are presented, that would be great! The sushi was fresh and delicious especially for Columbus since we're not by any water body. The appetizer was served hot and fresh and the Korean bbq was tender, flavorful and delicious! Neither the chicken nor the beef became chewy as they cooled down. Ambience: it's clean however, to me, it looks a little dated. The food is fresh and vibrant and I wish the ambiance matched the energy of the food. The white table cloths with red napkins, bright lights and the bulky menus makes the place look very institutional. Service: very knowledgeable, friendly and patient :) Would I recommend and return?! Yes!!!

This place was a little hard to find as it's tucked in a pretty crowded area off Hamilton Road. The good new though is that the service and great food helped make it completely worth it. The service was friendly and very attentive. I love it when a waiter or waitress knows the items on a menu and can help make recommendations. The waiter that served my table was fantastic. The sushi was incredible. The three different roles that I ate were very fresh and the sauces they serve here are definitely unique and delicious.

    Never again period

They do have alcohol. A selection of Japanese cocktails, Japanese beer as well as common American and import beer. I believe they also have a wine list.

I saw that the place had a couple of bad reviews, but I decided to try it anyway. I'm sure glad I did! I didn't experience any of the complaints that were described in the bad reviews. I found the decor, ambience, and the people working there to all be pleasant. I ordered my usual hibachi meal... filet and chicken combo, fried rice, no vegetables. Of course, it came with soup and salad. The salad was fresh, and it was a nice size portion. The soup was just as expected. The chef appeared shortly and verified the orders of the few of us at the table. He was an older man. He was very skilled at his job. He didn't go overboard with the show part, and the food was cooked perfectly. This was actually among the best hibachi experience I've ever had. Both the filet and the chicken, were a good sized portion, and cooked exactly as requested. I can't say I cleaned my plate, but there wasn't enough left to ask for a to-go box! And that is just how it should be, in my opinion. The price was also very good! Less than I usually pay for similar meals. Honestly, I can't think of one thing that I have a complaint about. That evening, I was talking to my friends that I'm traveling with. I shared my experience with them, and that said "Okay, that's it. We're having hibachi for dinner!" All I can say is that, maybe the few bad reviews prompted a change, or maybe there was something else. But I'm happy that I gave Sakura a chance. They earned this review, by giving me a great lunch experience.

We spent $230 (w/ tip) and it was worth every penny. Probably the best Japanese restaurant in the city. We passed by this place multiple times on our way elsewhere. We're Mario fans, so the name Yoshi caught our eye, but the cramped strip mall exterior doesn't exactly scream culinary dream. We decided to take a chance, and let me just say--wow. It's an intimate space with just a few tables and an 8-10 seat sushi bar. We didn't have reservations (make one, they fill up fast) but managed to snag seats at the bar. The service immediately stood out. We had better attention here than at some upscale steakhouses--glasses never went empty, and their menu suggestions were spot on. One minor heads-up: at the sushi bar, staff sometimes walk behind you to talk to the chefs, which can be a bit distracting. For starters, we grabbed the gyoza and asked for a standout small plate. They pointed us to the beef tongue. It arrived hot with shredded onions and spicy mustard, delivering a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness with a deep, beefy richness. The gyoza was equally flawless. Instead of the overly chewy or burnt wrappers you find at most spots, these had a delicate, golden-brown sear with an intensely savory, garlicky umami filling. We paired this with Sayuri sake, a creamy, unfiltered pour that perfectly balanced sweetness with a dry, clean finish. Since we love nigiri, we ordered a spread: tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, sweet shrimp, and Japanese scallop, plus a salmon/avocado roll. The cuts were impeccably sourced and practically dissolved on the tongue. You rarely find this level of consistency. Just a heads up--they prepare it the traditional way, meaning there is a dab of wasabi tucked directly under the fish. We also tried the Wagyu A-5 roll. It's about as "meat and potatoes" as a roll can get: steak, carrots, asparagus, and rice. The seared Wagyu fat melted instantly, creating a decadent, buttery glaze over the crisp vegetables. It's one of those rare foods that genuinely forces you to pause after each bite. At $40, it was 100% worth it. I can't say enough about this experience. Next time, we're leveling up to the fatty tuna and Wagyu experience on their special menu. That's the exact culinary peak we've been looking for, and incredibly, it's tucked inside a suburban strip mall. Absolutely brilliant.
