Filet of beef
Dawn T.

We visited Zermatt in the summer and sat outside and had a great view of the Matterhorn. We had the fondue to start and added herbs and chili. The fondue looked like guacamole HAHA but it was good. We also had the filet of beef and the fennel/orange/scallop salad. The filet was cooked to order. The fennel did not look or taste fresh - I ate the scallops and oranges which did taste good. Overall, the meal was fine but not great. Our server was so nice and checked on us frequently.

We had the fondue and it was delicious but the sides served, the bread and potatoes, were a little stale. The cheese is very mild but creamy and warm. Loved eating fondue for the first time. Our server was kind, friendly, and spoke English.

I found this place when I was looking for a fondue place (ended up going elsewhere for truffle fondue). I decided to try out their dinner menu, and unfortunately I was still too full from lunch (life of foodie tourist). So I ordered the only entrees that I can consume. I ordered the Tom Yum soup which isn't at all Thai or Vietnamese. Let's say it's inspired, and I'm glad that they made it this way. The broth was so clean and herbal - very strong on the nose when you take that initial sip. The reason I got this was it had shiitake mushrooms which they didn't sub with button like some places in US. I didn't realize it, but this came with mildly cooked shrimps which was absolute perfection as they weren't overcooked even with the broth poured over it. They bathed in the broth so well. I can eat like 5 bowls of this and never get bored with the flavor. Then I also got the caprese salad which wasn't typical. All the ingredients are fresh with burrata cheese hiding underneath these big "chips" that remind me of Indian crackers. The cheese was topped with EVOO and balsamic vinegar perles (in other words, tiny homemade boba!). I love these as they popped in my mouth when I took them in a bite of burrata. Great idea as I wish I can make these at home. I just drizzle. I was completely full by the end of the night. Again, no chance for dessert. The atmosphere here is very traditional. Only reason for 1 star loss was that I thought my server can be more personable. Not the most friendly guy... think grumpy man.

Perch with polenta and spinach

It rained the day we made reservations for dinner. Overlooking the Matterhorn we were seated outdoors. They had cover and thus, the rains didn't pose a problem. The staff was very delightful, informative, attentive and friendly. We got a glass of local wine and beer to start us off. Fondue was on our minds and it was amazing. The warm bread and cheese and potatoes and cheese combination seemed perfect for a rainy day. They also had perch on the menu with a side of polenta and spinach. It was cooked beautifully and we savored every bite. Great location, great service; amazing dinner experience

Great experience for my first time having swiss food! Nice rustic interior but also feels nice without being too fancy. Had a bunch of flavors I've never had before. We got the valais cheese fondue (33 CHF) with bacon and shared between two people, which was more than enough. There is a really strong smell and taste to the cheese, but if you like cheese I'm sure you'll enjoy this! It comes with a basket of bread and the fondue experience was probably my favorite part. We also got the champagne cream soup (16 CHF), which comes with a lot of truffle and they pour the cream soup on it after. It's a very interesting taste and more sour than I expected. We finished with lamb rosti, which came with swiss rosti (kinda like a hashbrown), apricot, and some pickled vegetables. This was my favorite dish - the lamb had so much flavor and went great with the rosti, would get this again.

We tried the fondue and lamb entree. Both were amazing, dripping with flavor. Service was top notch. Walked here from hotel.

Ok. You're paying for the view, and what an amazing view it was! Worth every penny! And you just gotta try fondue in Switzerland. Sure, it a strong cheese smell, but it tastes phenomenal! And all in this adorable small town where no cars are allowed and you have an amazing view of the Matterhorn! Service was quick, We were taken care of nicely, Our waitress was friendly, and she spoke English very clearly. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Cheese fondue

Awesome fondue! We loved our time here, delicious fondue. We added the meat and I'm glad we did. I normally do not eat veal and after my husband asked what type of meat it was and the answer.. veal! So I guess I eat veal now it was yummy. The place was clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Zermatt

We made reservations here because we were worried about Covid protocols and the business of the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked by, and it was busy, but had availability to sit outside around 5 o'clock. We eagerly ordered both fondues they offer with potatoes. I also ordered a house wine (delicious) and my husband ordered a Matterhorn beer (fine, like a Coors). The Valais fondue is apparently cooked with tomatoes and other seasoning - it was delicious and you really can't taste the tomatoes. It offered a full and well-rounded taste. The Old Zermatt was plain - only okay, but good for people who have a more tempered palette. I definitely recommend Old Zermatt. It was a pleasant experience with good food but, above all, a gorgeous view.

Came here in the winter with my husband . Food and service were wonderful! The waitress was amazing and explained menu items well. She offered a wine pairing that was delish! Portions are big!

Just to avoid confusion this place had been updated and rebranded as Cesi. Highly recommend. See my review under Cesi.
