    Rosti with harm and egg
    Trish L.

Yelped this and went because of the good reviews. We ordered the cheese fondue, vegetarian tartar and rosti with harm and egg. We were disappointed at the cheese fondue that we had had very high hopes for. The alcohol flavor was just too strong for our liking. The rosti with harm egg was good and loved the crispiness of the potato (just like harsh browns in the US), and we also enjoyed the vegetable tartar. We were shocked to find that they charged us almost $14 for the glass water, that's just ridiculous to me. Why do they charge for water? Thought Swiss ppl have free water fountains everywhere free for everyone!

The dishes we had at Pinte were awesome. The service was also exceptional. The waitstaff was patient and spoke English (very helpful since our German was limited). If you're in the Zermatt are, I highly recommend stopping in for the fondue!

For our second and final night in Zermatt, my boyfriend and I wanted to try this fondue place (located inside Hotel Pollux) that we didn't get a chance to try on the first night. So we came in at around 8 and it was pretty packed, but we still managed to get a table. To start, we ordered the green salad (6.50 Fr) - we had been eating so much cheese on this trip that we felt like we needed some greens. There was a little too much dressing, so be sure to ask for it on the side. Either way, we were happy to be eating some vegetables. Then, we decided to order one entree and one fondue to share. For the entree, we went with the venison sausage with onion sauce and rösti (22 Fr). The sausage was just okay but it might be because I'm not a huge fan of venison. The rösti was not as good as other rösti we've had throughout our trip, but I had the idea of dipping it into the fondue and it improved it. For the fondue, we did the cheese fondue with fried bacon (27 Fr). The cheese was good but I wouldn't recommend it. The bacon made it a bit too much. It was between this one and the cheese fondue with truffles and I wish we had gotten that one instead. The fondue comes with cubes of bread for you to dip. Finally, for dessert, we went with the chocolate fondue (12 Fr). The chocolate was nice and smooth, and was served with a side of fresh bananas, melon, and pineapple. Our waiter happily refilled our fruit place (free of charge) when he saw we ran out - which leads me to my next note: service was great in there. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here but the food wasn't the best that I had in Switzerland.

We had the cheese fondue and venison rosti. Food was prepared quickly and tasted amazing. Staff were also so lovely and friendly! Thank you!

    Exquisite Food!

Get the truffle one if you like truffle :) The rosti was great - felt like a simple breakfast meal with rosti (potato), egg, and ham.

During our next trip to Zermatt last week (May 2026), we were able to get a reservation and finally try the food. The interior is sunk down and very comfortable but compact. Great ambiance that makes you feel like you're somewhere local, not a chain restaurant. It did get fairly warm inside and could use an open window. Definitely somewhere you'd want to be in the winter. The service from our waitress was very good and she was friendly, ensuring we understood what we were ordering. 2 of us did the fondue and the other did a steak dish. The fondue was very good, the best we had on our Switzerland trip. The meat was not fatty thankfully and it was flavorful. Great portion too. The side sauces were also very good, along with the French fries and rice. The broth for the fondue, not cheese, was flavorful. All in all, no one left hungry. It was a great visit for dinner and a chance to learn more about the history of the restaurant. We learned the gentleman pictured below was the first in a group to make the Trek to the top of the Matterhorn from this hotel. Very impressive considering the gear they had. We would definitely visit again the next time in Zermatt and recommend it to others.

I was fine but just a tip for ya! Lols I got cozy basement Swiss vibes here. We were seated right away on a weekday afternoon for lunch. Place was full and it's not a big restaurant so must be a popular spot. Zermatt is quite the happening spot! Ordered the fondue and the hubs and I were fine with the serving for one person so the pot was only halfway full. But if you and your other half are super hungry, better get two orders. This fondue had a white wine taste to it, which was good even though I preferred the garlic fondue I had in Lucerne. The brat and fries were delish! * Tipping is not mandatory in Switzerland. Of course if your server went above and beyond for you, feel free to round up on the check and I'm sure they would appreciate it. But I think the Swiss servers know we tip in America so when it was time to pay our bill, our waitress said "oh and if you would like to leave a tip, you can do so right here." Oh lawd so tacky and awkward but whattaya gonna do. But of course we tipped her even though she wasn't that personable and attentive. Lols

Yelp Review 2026 #151:…read more We took a week break from eating Swiss food so, we started missing it. Restaurant Du Pont is at the end of Bahnhofstrasse. I had a lot of restaurants bookmarked in Zermatt but Du Pont was not bookmarked. We just ate a bunch of things so, after walking the town, we want back to the hotel, made a dinner reservation to this place before taking a much needed nap. You can't make a reservation in person - they will refer you to do it online. The restaurant has Matterhorn in the background. A lot of people would take pictures in front of Du Pont. We got seated on the second floor by the window with a view of town. Our server was nice and quite busy and spoke German, English and Spanish. They have different kinds of fondue. They also have raclette, spaetzle, entrecôte, ribs, minced meat with macaroni and apple sauce m, rosti with ham and cheese, and cheese sandwich. For dessert, they have Apple strudel, Toblerone chocolate mousse, coupe Denmark (aka white lady aka dame Blanche). We got cheese fondue, and chocolate fondue. Fondue Deluxe: Cheese fondue with champagne and black truffles. Their fondue is meant to be shared by 2-3 people. You get bread and potatoes to dip into the melted cheese. It's fantastic. Generous with the black truffles. 4/5 Chocolate Fondue for 2: Served with fresh fruits: strawberry pieces, apple chunks, and banana slices. This was sooo nice. We finished all the chocolate! There was an influencer/ blogger filming herself quite loudly next to us. She was talking and laughing by herself. She got fondue and burnt it because she was busy with her phone - the smell of burnt cheese isn't pleasant.

I accidentally found Restaurant Julen, which is a sister restaurant of Restaurant Schäferstube, and in fact, it is in the same location but on the upper level of Restaurant Schäferstube. The most important thing is you can order the signature items of Restaurant Schäferstube from the menu of Restaurant Julen!!! So we decided to give it a try and I am so glad that we did! They don't accept reservations of more than 6 online, so I had to send an email to confirm and requested a window seat. I really like the atmosphere and the decorations of Restaurant Julen. Majority of us ordered the 'Grilled rack of lamb roasted pink on our wood grill' 2 courses from the SCHÄFERSTÜBLI GRILL. The lamb is soooooooo tender! I highly recommend this if you eat lamb, the lamb is special and unique in this region! Everyone was so happy with the food and service. We had a very good time there although we cannot stay late because we need to get up early to ski. If you cannot make a reservation at Restaurant Schäferstube, come here. If you just want to have the grilled lamb from Restaurant Schäferstube and don't mind where to go, come to Restaurant Julen, the sitting is so comfortable!
