When we entered the restaurant, there was a smell of old cheese not cleaned properly from the caquelons, burners or other dishes what should indeed - have been a clear warning for us. We did NOT have Fondue what many tourists eat here but the "Special" of the day - soup or salad as a starter, turkey with risotto on a tomato sauce. The soup and salad where good, the main course too although the presentation of the course was a little unusual - everything was kind of "swimming" in the risotto and the turkey was so cooked you did not need a knife but rather a soup spoon which was also offered unsolicited. It tased good and we were full very easily. Long story short - the food was tasty but we both had belly cramps half an hour later when we were back at the hotel.

Service was unusually slow even by Swiss standards. Our server and his colleagues were unusually attentive to other families around us, and it took over twenty minutes to order drinks. Upon ordering, they brought the wrong wine twice without apology. Then, the pours were skimpy to say the least. The food was very good, which is unfortunate given the horrible service. The attitude was the worst, like they were doing us a favor by serving our family of three women, and they never apologized nor did we get what we asked for. The venison, foie gras, and creme brûlée were very good. I wish I tried the chocolate soufflé but nobody advised that it was an option until we were already fed up with the disappointing service. We won't be back.

You can either cross the busy road or take the steps down from the parking area to the tunnel under the road. You can either sample your choice of wines by the glass from the wine list or you can buy a sampler package and they choose the wines. We had the Chasellas package which included 3 whites and the Discovery which included 3 whites and the Plant Robert (only place this grape is planted) red. You can either get each wine one at a time or all at once. There is also a movie about the wine which is shown in English and French. The guy who worked there was very friendly and knowledgeable without being "wine snobby."
