We wanted to try some Switzerland cuisine, so we tried this restaurant just based on their menu posted outside. It was a good choice. The food was very good. The Raclette (scraped melted cheese) on the lamb hamburger was delicious. My wife tasted no gaminess at all in the burger. The french fries were extra crispy - the best way to have them! I had the veal sausage with onion sauce and rosti (like hash browns). Also delicious. Food is on the pricier side, but so is everything in Switzerland. Service staff were friendly. I wouldn't know how authentic the food was, but it was delicious nonetheless! read more

We had a marvelous lunch (lamb burger with raclette, salad, and goulash. We sat outside on the patio in beautiful weather. We liked it enough to return for dinner. We sat inside this time. We ordered dinner and before it arrived I watched the bartender/raclette melter/bread slicer behind the bar and lost my appetite. He coughed constantly all over everything around him, he pulled out a crumpled handkerchief, blew his nose and put the handkerchief back in his pocket; then continued pouring drinks and cutting bread for the breadbasket. He cleaned the bar area by scraping the crumbs on the floor. My wonderful lunch experience was wiped out by watching this guy. read more

Their Rosti was delicious, better than other restaurants we've dined in. You MUST order the Apfelstrudel...you can drink the sauce alone. read more

We had an absolutely amazing meal here while staying in Zermatt. We were looking for authentic Swiss German food. There is outdoor seating here and it was packed by the time we arrived (usually a good sign). The waitstaff was friendly. We started with the raclette (which is basically like the fondue but a smaller portion). It's a nice starter because it doesn't get you overly full before your meal. It comes with two potatoes, small pickles, and pearled onions. They also serve you fresh bread and the best butter. For a main dish, we had the veal sausage in the onion sauce. The sausage was soft and flavorful, and the sauce was to die for. It even had crunchy French onions on the top. Think of this like French onion soup but sausage version. It was served with rosti which is basically like the best big hash brown you ever had in your life. I will be thinking about this meal forever! read more

Food amazing. We shared the truffle fondue and rosti. Best we've had! Service was awesome! Loved the small homey restaurant. Recommend reservations because we saw them turn many walk-ins away. I'd give the entire experience 10 out of 10! read more

We had a good meal. Good service. We were tired and hungry- this totally solved the problem.

May 10,2024 we enjoyed a lovely meal of fondue bratwurst and beer. The service was great as was the food. We highly recommend. The outdoor dining was comfortable and not too crowded. It was a bit cool in the shade, we asked to move to a sunny table and they accommodated kindly. read more

Perfect place to try cheese fondue in Zermatt, while being surrounded by the Swiss Alps. The prices were affordable (considering Swiss prices) and the quantity of food was more than enough for the four of us. We got the cheese fondue, rosti with pork sausage, Apple strudel, and a banana split (something my brother was delighted to find on the menu). The fondue was fantastic, the sausage perfectly cooked, while the rosti was nicely browned. Amongst the dessert, the banana split stood out because of its nutty dark chocolate sauce. The service was attentive and fantastic, and I recommend sitting outside for the ambiance of the mountains. read more

I was searching for some good fondue in Zermatt, and fell upon this place. This was one of my favorite meals in my entire eurotrip! The fondue was hands down excellent. We asked the waiter to pick one of six fondue options for us. I'm glad we ordered the one he recommended. We got the Kasefondue mit frishchen krautern-- which is fondue with fresh herbs. It was outstanding!! The cheese was excellent. It was served with small delicate potatoes and bread. I highly recommend ordering this fondue. We also got the Weissweinrisotto mit frishen Champignons und parmesanspanen-- which is the white wine risotto with mushrooms and parmesan. It was really good as well. Compared to a lot of other risottos, it was lighter and more fresh. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was prompt and courteous. Would definitely go back if I visit again. read more

Wow. Amazing traditional Swiss food. We were a party of 6 and everyone ordered something different from fondue, leek and potato pie, rosti and more. Not a single complaint and all plates were empty by the end of dinner. Staff were very accommodating and attentive. We made a reservation online in the morning and were confirmed before noon. Prices were very reasonable and the value was worth the price. read more

Great place in Zermatt, both dishes were delicious and prices were good. I loved both dishes, potatoes were cooked perfect. My dish had few crispy potatoes which I loved. The sausage was home made very tasty and loved the onion gravy. Local beer was nice and light, service was great. The guy that served us spoke fluent 4 languages, he was going from table to table changing the language to accommodate everyone. It was amazing to see the skill set to be a server in Zermatt at this place. read more

We stopped and ate at the restaurant since it was busy and specializes in fondues. We had the beef and lamb in a beef broth. The broth had not enough seasoning. Took forever to cook the meat. The worst part of the whole experience was the service. The whole wait staff was racist against Asians. We had very slow service and didn't know why. But we watched them serve two other Asian parties, and each time they would give them bad service. One party ordered two cheese fondues. They brought them the fondues, did not lite their fires, and forgot their breads. They say their almost 10 minutes before they even brought the bread, which I had to remain the waiter he forgot. And he said he would and walked away to serve another party. One group was told they ate too slow and they had a reservation waiting for their table. I had to ask for my check 4 times, just to be told to wait my turn by both waiters. I know this won't stop people from eating there. But I hope the owner sees this and responds accordingly. read more

This place deserves zero stars, but unfortunately, yelp won't let me give them that. So I guess they can have one. This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Not because of the food, which was fine. The service, on the other hand, was abysmal. I would never return and highly suggest you don't come here either. When we first came in our waitress acted in such a peculiar manner. But we never thought anything about it. However, during the entire evening she kept banging the plates around and talking an extremely rude tone. When we asked for an extra bowl and spoon to share our soup, she simply refused to give us another bowl - no reason like "I'm sorry we're out of bowls" Just a flat, rude "Nope." Even when giving us the spoon, it seemed to have been an exceptional burden for her. When we explained we were upset by the service, she didn't even apologize claiming - "everyone is different." She tried to ignore us and continued banging around dishes in an unprofessional manner. Please come here if you want to waste your time and money and want to be insulted. Otherwise, check the place across the street. read more

This place was delicious! We first stopped in for hot Chocolate around lunch time. The place was so cute, I wanted to go back for dinner. Honestly, I would have been happy eating here for all my meals. It looked like the had a great variety. For dinner, I had the goulash soup and chicken cordon bleu. It came with a side of risotto.. oh my heavennnn! read more

The waiters serving in the basement level are brash and condescending in their service and attitude towards asian customers. They showed prejudices against people from different cultures. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are prepared for differential treatment. read more

Here in Zermatt during the off season (May) and we couldn't find a place to eat this afternoon. (Most places are closed for holiday or renovations.) Stumbled upon Stadel and decided to try it out as the patio was full of people. We were not disappointed! Had the cream of mushroom soup, cheese and tomato fondue, and the rosti Matterhorn... everything was delicious!! The fondue was a cheesy pot of melty ooey gooey goodness. It was well seasoned and came with bread and small new potatoes to dip. The rosti was a platter of hashbrowns topped with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. Bill came to CHF 62. Service was great, staff were very friendly. Would definitely go back! read more

Went to this restaurant for dinner at 5:30, went inside and kindly asked for a menu. I was then rudely told they start service at 6 so I went back out until I had the urge to go to the restroom leaving my little brother (10 years old) alone at the table for a couple minutes while my parents were a few feet away. I came back out to a "local" lady yelling at him in another language about him moving some things around on the table. She then proceeded to yell at my mother because we didn't tell him anything. My 10 year old little brother was on the brink of tears not knowing what he did wrong because all he was doing was moving things around on OUR table. The waiter then ran out screamed "I'm taking the beer" and proceeded to aggressively take the beer from my mothers hand as she was going to take a sip causing it to spill all over her. The waiter then went inside and kicked us out because the "local" lady told her to. The "local" lady along with the rest of her table then started yelling at us to leave as well and even threatening to call the police. When I asked who she was she claimed to be the owner and that we were just tourists who don't know anything. What we wanted to be a nice evening out in zermatt turned out to be a traumatizing experience for my 10 year old little brother who left in tears. DO NOT COME HERE WITH KIDS. read more

This little place was exactly what we were looking for after our first day in Zermatt. We wanted traditional Swiss food for dinner, and we found this little place about 10 steps from our hotel. It was quite busy, but we were easily seated at the bar. Their menu is all Swiss food. I would have liked to have tried the fondue, but I hadn't had rosti yet. I tried Rosti (potatoes with cheese) and egg on top. It was very rich but really good. I couldn't finish my meal and was told that was bad. Apparently, in Switzerland bad weather happens when you don't finish your dinner plate the night before. Sure enough, it rained the next morning! Lessons learned. read more

First time to Zermatt. Stopped in for an apres ski drink around 5, sat at the table height bar and had a fresh draft while my gal had an Aperol spritz. We were both impressed with the quaint decor and friendly service, so we then asked for the menu. Menu had a number of traditional swiss dishes; but what really caught our eye, were the options for meat fondue. So, we made a reservation for later that evening. Upon our return, we were seated in the larger dining room downstairs. It was quite busy, with only one harried waitress, but she had her act together, and serviced everyone with swiss efficiency. We ordered a leaf salad, mushroom soup, and the beef/lamb broth fondue. Everything was excellent... bread, apps, presentation, meat quality, and the service was engaged and attentive to all of the small details which make a fondue dinner something special. We were the last to leave that dining room that night, and had a pleasant conversation with our waitress, who suggested we try the local schnapps - Anielle Prune. After previously sharing a bottle of wine for dinner, this after-dinner cordial really capped off the night, and we were happy to be walking to our hotel. Loved this place, and will return next time. read more

Came for rosti. Wasn't impressed. Sausage wasn't good, too soft and felt like it lacked meat. Rosti was too greasy, got sick of it pretty quickly. Gluhwein tasted more like hot tea as it had too much sugar, spice, lemon but too little alcohol. read more

Same as the other review before, we recommend everyone to go to another place nearby and to avoid this restaurant. The food was okay but the service was just unacceptable. The waitress was ok until we asked for extra wishes which seemed to be too much for her. First she didn't want to understand that I wanted to order a soup offered as first as main-so I got a little one. We were four persons and had to wait for about one hour to get the food. Also it seemed to be a problem to move from inside to outside since the table inside was reserved for one hour later but our waiter was rigorous in refusing the place - so I had to negotiate with another one who got the point instantly when I told we already offered and thus would never take more than one hour to leave. All in all taking food and service together, I think it's not worth to waste time and money at this place. read more
