If there was an option for (-negative) stars - THIS PLACE DESERVES IT! Being owner of restaurants-I could NEVER serve my worse enemy what this place pushes out. You don't know what you are eating. Witnessed a lady picking a candy cane stick out of a customers food that another customer dropped in their plate as he was passing by!!! Pure DISSSSSSGISTINH! They still served the tray to the customer. My mouth dropped. They see. I was looking and tried to play it off. . Anyways, my hubby got the pork chop(totally dried out), turnips (from a #10 can-watery) , and sweet potato (ok, only because it was wrapped in aluminum foil - can't mess that up). I ordered veggie sides - meatless person - butter beans (from #10 can and obviously because they were water), cabbages (watered too). I couldn't eat anything after seeing them served customers their food after they put their bare hands in their food. People could get sick! There's no telling what was on that candy cane from a random customers jacket. Ewwwww! . I could r take it and all night I thought about it - I called the next day to talk to the owner and the lady on the phone identified herself as "the owners wife". I immediately recognized her voice from the night before. She was the one who picked out the candy cane from the customers plate!!!! I told her it was even more disturbing knowing she was the OWNER and thought it was ok to stick her hands in people food. She immediately got defensive and said - I don't know what you thought you seen, but the candy cane was in the waitress hand, not the customers food. I replied What!!!!! Are you kidding-you aren't going to try and manipulate this- FIRST, I can see very well, and second you are plane filthy!!! Just filthy. My thought is... why does a waitress have a candy cane in her hand? She didn't! It was from a customer passing by digging in his jacket and it fell out! I was looking RIGHT at the two of them - straight shot! . Their salt and pepper shakers had dried gunk all over them. They even had the audacity to have sanitizer on the table that looked like it went through a mud obstacle course! OMG! This place is grooooss! You can see where they wipe the "sticky" table. But never move or clean anything else on it. Salt/sugar was caked around the tray on the table. . I guess this place is still in business from the locals who have accepted the filth and is simply ok with eating there. I wouldn't eat here if it was my LAST meal ever! I'd rather fast! I have never seen someone PLAY in a customers food and STILL served it to them. How could you!!!!! Like WHY!!??? . Anyways.... If you like filth and don't care if you get sick or not. Go ahead. Eat at your own risk! Go to GEORGE'S. best, cute restaurant in that area, or drive out a little. THIS is not the place!

I absolutely love this place! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. I have been eating here going on 3 years. The restaurant uses fresh veggies ( their tomatoes are awesome) and everything is like you were eating at grandmas house! Right off I-85 ; look for the very tall Vance County Tourist sign) I cannot recommend this enough! The prices are extremely reasonable and you get a lot to eat! They have lunch specials everyday as well. A great spot to stop to or from Kerr Lake.

Sunrise Biscuit - Egg need to be reeled in.

I'm out on a limb with this review. A 3 or 4. Even though the meal was less than i expected, I'll…read moregive a 4. - I was camping at Occoneechee VA State Park. I was wanting breakfast before I headed out to Staunton River, VA State Park. I searched Google and Yelp and really, ya'll need help in this area. Either that or you, for real, don't have many choices in the area. Let me say. Creamed Chipped Beef Gravy should be on EVERY breakfast menu in the South and when I put Chipped Beef Gravy in both, Google And Yelp, it pulled up everything, even Subway. It was depressing. So ok. Most interesting thing I saw was Sunrise Biscuit. Henderson North Carolina. I was about 40 min out? Ok.....let's go. My Yelp directions had me in circles. I changed to Google. Had to pull over couple times to refresh my directions. I finally arrived. It's a tiny little place. Rutted out parking area. I smacked my head and went on in. No line when I was there. 3 people. I ordered bacon egg and cheese biscuit, and gravy on the side, plus a large coffee. Order was called. Chef confirmed. Order of side gravy was yelled out for reconfirmation, Chef said I got it. Order up. My bacon egg and cheese biscuit had seen better days. A Lotta bacon! Though my egg was offsides and hanging on for dear life. It took me 1/2 a sugar jar to reach even near the level of flavor I like. That's because the coffee was a confirmed LARGE!!! I loved it. Thank you! I sat inside to eat, while mostly everyone else was to go. I enjoyed watching the customer's experiences. Everyone was nice. Regarding my food, my biscuit was not fluffy with some glistening grease. More-so, it stuck to my teeth and had to wash it down my throat with the coffee. Glad it was a large. My gravy.... my gravy was in a thimble compared to the rest of my meal. I had to giggle. It was good. I wasn't mad at all. My bill was less than $7. It stuck to my gut and was a great experience. I wont forget it! Thanks!!!

Was nothing special but was well prepared and tasted good. Biscuit was also very good. Coffee was coffee and was good too. Only bad part was the hashbrown. Its like the ones you get from Macdonald's. That in itself isn't the issue though. It tasted horrible from old grease in the fryer. I did notice no one else while I was there got anything fried. Locals know best! Staff is friendly and food was quick. I would go back just wont order anything fried!

Smithfield's is about as Eastern North Carolina as they come. I stopped in on my way home from a…read moretrip up north and couldn't wait to get some authentic Eastern North Carolina-style barbecue. The restaurants are very consistent in their Carolina-style design--homey, comfortable, and straightforward. The wall art adds character and reinforces the local feel without being overdone. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure every need was met. I ordered the large BBQ plate with slaw and baked beans. A generous portion of hushpuppies was sprinkled on top. The pulled pork is seasoned in classic Eastern North Carolina barbecue fashion--thin, tangy, vinegar-forward, and lightly seasoned. That same vinegar-based sauce is on the tables, along with Texas Pete. The portion size on the large platter was substantial enough that I asked for a to-go box and took leftovers home. Since they offer banana pudding--a North Carolina favorite of mine--I ordered one and enjoyed it there. The 'Nilla wafers are mixed directly into the pudding, exactly where they belong. Their banana pudding, like their hushpuppies, is excellent. Another great Eastern North Carolina barbecue experience.
