    Cracker Barrel, Henderson

Four stars for a fabulous Cracker Barrel. Warmly welcomed and brought to a table, my order (meatloaf with mac & cheese and carrots) was taken immediately and it did not take very long at all. A nice portion, served hot and with a smile. After dinner, I parked the Sprinter in a dark corner of the lot and locked up for the night. Yes, my Sprinter is converted into an RV and Cracker Barrel tolerates us staying overnight in their lot. It was a quiet night and in the morning, I was up and on my way before they opened. So it was a nice dinner and a great night's sleep. Thanks, CB! [Review 2152 of 2024 - 3811 in North Carolina - 23171 overall]

Good old southern food but other options available like salads -all day breakfast- food is freshly prepared - great service - on cold days- the fireplace is lit emitting warmth & a cozy feeing. I recommend online reservations during peak hours. A valuable meal experience to the community & passersby's. Unique dry goods- candles- candies- gifts available for purchase in the store area. One of my hubby & my favorite places to eat!

The service my party of 10 received on Saturday July 27th was horrible. Ms blond wig was rude and ABSOLUTELY unprofessional and inattentive. Although the food came out so that we were able to eat together, it was not hot. Blond wig-server never checked with us to see if we needed anything. She was ALWAYS bad attitude when I asked for anything; totally ignored me. Waffle House has much better service.

Lovely, lovely lunch break while traveling south with our RV. We love Cracker Barrel for many reasons, one of them being so accommodating to RV and big rig travelers. The store was well organized and stocked and we were seated right away. Our waitress - Alexis, was super efficient, friendly and we never felt neglected and our drinks were always refilled. We ordered: the Turkey lunch special, which was served with sweet potato casserole. My husband liked it a lot. I had grilled chicken salad, which was fresh, crispy and delicious and a loaded baked potato. Overall a great lunch break, delicious food, amazing service, reasonable and affordable prices. What more to ask for.

We left the cracker barrel in South Hill, as they had one server and the wait would be forever. Saw the sign for this one in 20 miles and chose it. We got seated immediately and given utensils and napkins, water and coffee. I ordered old timers, spouse ordered build a breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfect, grits were smooth, not lumpy ,and biscuits perfect. Only problem was no toilet paper in stall 2. Brooke our server was very attentive to our needs.

    Great tasty turnip greens.

This location in Henderson, North Carolina is conveniently off of Highway 85. Plenty of parking, lots of rocking chairs outside on the porch for those who are waiting for their table to be ready. The country store is fill so many exciting and tempting shopping selections. You can become hooked if you hang around the candy section too long. The dining area is very clean, spacious, filled with very comfortable furniture. I was very impressed with how tasty my order tasted. The green was seasoned like a pro. They really have skills in cooking country foods. I enjoyed my shrimp dinner with a huge loaded bake potatoes. The two pork chops with gravy was tender with loads of favor. The servers were very friendly but slow in attending to the customers. It's possible they did not have a lot of experience under their belt. BUT I can't wait to go back. The menu is so huge which makes it hard to decide on what to eat.

Cracker Barrel / Henderson NC: The kitsch extends to the front porch.

First off, this spot is cozy and rustic, from the antique wooden bar to the brick walls and Turkish lights and carpets. We were immediately greeted and while our host started to escort us to a table, we asked if we could sit at the bar. Of course, was her reply. We took our seats and Melissa came out to give us menus and take our drink order. We went in thinking of sharing a small pizza so I was looking for a glass of red wine to accompany it. I asked Melissa for a glass of Cabernet, but they didn't have any. She told me what they did have and I asked for a small taste of the blend which she happily provided. It was good, so I decided to have a glass. We asked for her recommendations as it is always fun to get the staff's opinion on menu items and she replied that everything is good, but she especially likes the Australian Chicken. We asked about the pizzas and she recommended the George's special and told us we would love it. Sold (although I would really like to go back and try the chicken). The pizza was delivered hot, fresh and flavorful. Toppings included pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, onion, green pepper and mushrooms. The ratio of sauce on the pizza was just perfect and so tasty. Toppings still had that slight crisp that I love. The crust looked a bit thicker, but was not. It was crunchy outside, but had a wonderful softness to the inside that I loved and a great flavor. Usually, I discard crusts, but I munched on these. We were offered Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Those red pepper flakes packed some heat! We had the best experience thanks to Melissa and the delicious food! I hope that we have an opportunity to come back in the short week we are here.

Jessa, our server was amazing, a great waitress as well as funny and kind. She constantly checked to be sure we were ok, our glasses were always full. The food was delicious, fresh, served hot and clearly made with care. I had the Olympia pasta with chicken, it was delish, my husband's steak sandwich was very tasty as well, just a lot of food. Lastly prices are very reasonable. To add chicken to my pasta was $3.00, and it was a ton of moist tender chicken. We will absolutely return to this gem. Thanks Jessa for making it a great experience.

The restaurants are very consistent in their Carolina-style design--homey, comfortable, and straightforward. The wall art adds character and reinforces the local feel without being overdone. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure every need was met. I ordered the large BBQ plate with slaw and baked beans. A generous portion of hushpuppies was sprinkled on top. The pulled pork is seasoned in classic Eastern North Carolina barbecue fashion--thin, tangy, vinegar-forward, and lightly seasoned. That same vinegar-based sauce is on the tables, along with Texas Pete. The portion size on the large platter was substantial enough that I asked for a to-go box and took leftovers home. Since they offer banana pudding--a North Carolina favorite of mine--I ordered one and enjoyed it there. The 'Nilla wafers are mixed directly into the pudding, exactly where they belong. Their banana pudding, like their hushpuppies, is excellent. Another great Eastern North Carolina barbecue experience.
