Republik is a nice local spot my friends and I like to go when we need to study or read. Their brunch menu is really good and there's something for everyone. I've had their burritos which was really good and since I don't drink coffee often, their chai tea is my go to. Service is always so fast and you won't be disappointed. Went for the lavender & oat + crush cardamom oat latte -- long story short: crush cardamom for that more familiar chai feeling whereas the lavender syrup tended to become stronger over time and made the latte lose its identity. Latte was made really well; oat milk was.a very silky texture that started off a little hot, however was a warming drink after it cooled off a little bit. There was a mild tone of earthy caramel, and it takes a backseat to the sweetness. Overall, quality wise it's pretty good; I just don't exactly agree with all of their recipes/ratios. read more

Poor customer service over something so small We came in for breakfast and were about to spend around $60 on breakfast. I had an almost-empty coffee from another café because we came specifically for the breakfast here, not the drinks. After sitting for about 5-7 minutes, a staff member approached me and said there were no outside drinks allowed and asked me to put my cup inside one of theirs. I understand if that's the policy, but the way it was said felt abrupt and unnecessarily uncomfortable. It really seemed like the owner walked by, saw my cup, and sent the employee over to say something. Here's the confusing part: this place is called Republic Café, yet there's one barista making drinks for an almost full restaurant, and charging $5-6 for an Americano. How is anyone supposed to trust the quality of the coffee under those conditions? The food is good -- I'll give them that -- but between the wall of wine, the café branding, and the mediocre coffee setup, it feels like they haven't decided what they're trying to be. We were here for the food, and instead we left with a really negative impression over something that could've been handled so much better. Went to have breakfast with my padawan. I had the avocado toast. He had the breakfast burrito. Both were freshly made and delicious. I mentioned the freshly made because there was a bit of a wait. Seating was available inside. The decor was hipster/ industrial but still felt cozy with several small tables set in conversational clusters. There is also outdoor seating but it was chilly so we were happy to have an indoor spot. I also had the black vanilla latte which started off strange (the charcoal) but grew on me as I continued to drink it. I think I would have it again. I stopped by Republic Coffee House and had such a lovely experience. I ordered a cortado, and honestly--it was perfect. Smooth, balanced, just the right strength. While I was enjoying my coffee, a musician was playing and singing, and that little touch completely changed the atmosphere. It added soul and warmth to the whole place. Service was good too. On the weekends they have live music (at least on the Saturday we went), and the place felt really nice and fancy compared to most coffee shops. It's a great place for a date or even just to hang with a few friends or even work/study! Came here today with my daughter. We walked in and there was a line and the placer was pretty full. We got in line to order , I ordered a lavender latte and some chilaquiles and my daughter ordered an iced matcha and the breakfast sandwich. We were lucky to find a table to sit inside . They bring you the food to your table and the drinks you have to go and get when they call your name. My chilaquiles were good , I wished they were a little more spicy but overall they were not bad. The sauce was pretty good and the eggs were cooked well. My lavender oat latte was very good too, I would get that next time again. My daughter didn't like her iced matcha, she could tell by the color of it that it was not going to be good. She did though enjoy her breakfast sandwich. It comes with a side of fruit. Such a cool place to hang out, though parking may be a bit tough. There's street parking in the area but there is a 2 hour limit. I typically get their matcha and ham and cheese croissant. Their croissant is nothing like you'd get from other places. They seem to have added a sugary glaze on top, which creates a very interesting contrasting flavor with the ham and cheese. I went to Republik on a Saturday around 10 am and it was surprisingly empty. There was a group of two people in front of me. However it did get busier as I was ordering. came here on a Thursday afternoon and it was surprisingly really pack. parking was very limited. there's only street parking which is hard to find. I ended parking in a nearby parking lot which was about a 10 minute walk from the café. if u r coming to study be sure to come as early as possible. I came around 1 or 2 pm and the tables were already filled. there are both outside and inside seating. tables inside are kind of small but enough space for a laptop and a coffee. outside seating was nice, it was a hot day but the trees provided shade. my friend and I got a pesto sandwhcih, breakfast plate, & a black vanilla latte. the black vanilla latte was a pretty standard coffee. It had a hint of cinnamon which was nice, nothing mind blowing though. the food was pretty good. loved the presentation. the sandwhcih was very tasty and very filling. to be honest the sandwhcih can definitely be a 2 person meal. the salad was also pretty decent, I loved the lemony dressing. read more

Jose, I'm addressing this review directly to you because the experience my husband and I had today at your shop was beyond horrible. We came in for the first time today around 1:30pm to get a coffee on our walk. We only had a very brief moment to look over the menu, and it was our first time visiting. When it was our time to order, the barista "Matty the baddie" did not greet us. Just stared at us. We asked if it was possible to get the Vietnamese coffee with nondairy condensed coconut milk that was also listed on the menu. Very sternly, he let us know that wasn't possible since the Vietnamese coffee was premade. This is understandable, but he spoke to us like we were stupid and did not offer any other suggestions. Since we wanted to be mindful of the people behind us, we just ordered a regular cold brew. We watched the barista pour our cold brew, which was clearly the end of the batch because the spout was struggling to fill the cup. He pushed the drink at us, and we left. As we started walking and drinking, we immediately had to spit out the cold brew. It was HORRENDOUS. It tasted old and burnt and genuinely was not drinkable. My husband went back in and stood in line and once he got to the front let the same barista know of the issue. He did not offer to make us a different drink or rectify the drink. He gave my husband a disgusting amount of attitude and just processed a refund. Trying to be courteous, my husband then asked if he should leave the drink at the front with them or throw it away? And Matty told him to "do whatever he wants." I'm not sure if this is the standard at Republik Coffee, but allowing your barista to treat and speak to a customer like this is wild. Really enjoyed everything about this cute coffee shop. Nice decor with plenty of seating both in and out. Lots of drinks to choose from including bakery items and grab-in-go items as well. Decided to go with the Black Vanilla Latte and the Almond and Carrot Cake. Latte was good. Creamy and not overly sweet. The cake itself was delicious! It was nice and dense. Again, not overly sweet. While the pastries were both delicious and the mocha was standard, my purple caramel latte was oddly not caramel flavored and not sweet at all. I'm not sure what the flavor profile was supposed to be, but it ended up tasting so odd and bad that I couldn't finish it. I'm not sure if it was the drink I tried, so maybe i'll come back and order something else next time. I always tip so my coffee turned into a $10 nightmare. Adding on, the WiFi was off so I used my personal hotspot. My first impression and lasting impression of Republik Coffee is regret. No WiFi service, no actual service, no parking, no greeting, overpriced, incorrect order due to lack of awareness and not repeating orders, and my coffee just sat as I waited outside. This is a local spot for me, so I have been here multiple times, but my last visit really solidified my opinion of this coffee shop. First I will say, the food and drinks here can range from good to great! However when it comes to pricing, how much you get for said price can be very hit or miss. You can definitely tell high quality ingredients are used for the food, however the portions for certain plates can be small and not worth the price. I would expect to be blown away by the food since the price to portion ratio isn't there, but again, most plates are simply good, nothing amazing. So far I have tried 5 different breakfast plates, and so far the breakfast sandwich seems to be the best deal for what you pay, as the sandwich itself is really great and actually portioned well. However it is still expensive. Second , the service here is really good! I've never had a problem with any of the staff being rude or anything. They are all very friendly and I recognize how stressful it can be to work at such a busy place, so no complaints here. The food can take a while to come out, even for pickup orders, but again it's very busy here most of the time so I can't exactly fault them for that. My last visit they actually messed up my order by mistake and fixed it immediately and gave me a complimentary sandwich for the troubles, so that was nice of them. Expect no trouble here when it comes to the staff, they're great! And finally, the shop itself is very nice inside and outside, it can be a little difficult to find a spot to sit since the place is pretty packed but the place has a great lively vibe. Ultimately, the higher prices of this place is what keeps me from coming back more often. In my eyes the food isn't amazing enough to justify said prices.
