The table next to us had ordered a brand-new charcuterie board and waited so long just to order their wine that they eventually left the restaurant without even touching the charcuterie board. Overall, both the food and the service were extremely disappointing. Waiting that long just to get someone's attention, receive our food, and eventually pay the bill is unacceptable. She walked us through five different wines and explained the flavors and pairing suggestions in a way that was easy to understand. There was also a customer at the bar who was very friendly and showed us pictures of her wine adventures. She even recommended visiting Sonoma or Temecula for future wine tasting trips. The table next to us was clearly someone of importance, because they kept getting "gifted" foods, cheeses, drinks, etc. - which is fine, but only magnified our poor service. We also saw our food and beverages as well as other tables food and beverages be delivered to the wrong tables. My fiances sorbet was given to the special table next to us, but they had already had their dessert, and so the wait staff left with it and a minute later delivered it to our table melted. There was one staff member that was wonderful, and it seemed like he was a busboy who was filling in for our waiter (sorry I did not get his name) but he was very kind, personable, and would be the reason we come back, aside from the great food. There was also no acknowledgement of the special occasion we were celebrating, which is a minor thing but at other restaurants it's usually never missed and helps make for a nice experience especially when we mark that we are here celebrating an anniversary. All in all it was a disappointing experience. We may return for the food in the future, because it was excellent, but the service needs to be worked on.

My only criticism is that the service in the bar area can be a little slow at times, and it sometimes takes a while for someone to get to you. Other than that, we've really enjoyed every visit. I love minimalist spaces, and this is the exact opposite. This is probably just my own OCD personality that misses Steve Jobs and his black turtlenecks. The staff, however, is very nice! Okay, now the coffee, which is what my rating is based on. The latte was a small step up from Starbucks and had an odd taste that I couldn't quite place. My wife couldn't finish hers. The drip coffee was barely above lukewarm and just didn't taste good. Again, it was hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but it didn't taste particularly fresh. I noticed the bag of beans on the counter was roasted on 6/30 and marked down on clearance. Anyway, it's probably a perfectly fine place if you're not obsessed with excellent black coffee or high-quality espresso drinks. The space is large, there's lots of outdoor seating, and the staff is nice. I just wish I'd known going in that the coffee wasn't very good, so I'm writing this review for the other people out there who are equally insufferable about their coffee.
