Came on a Sunday around 7 and the bar area was pretty busy but I was able to get a spot. I got a glass of Pinot noir and the chicken bacon sandwich with fries. The sandwich typically comes with chips and it's an extra $3.5 to upgrade to fries. The sandwich itself was already really pricey at $21.50. the sandwich was basic at best. Small piece of chicken albeit well cooked. Brioche bun was fine. Fries were very under salted but at least they were crispy. read more

This the Republic at the airport. After we sat down, they asked us to move from a 4 person table to a 2 person table because it was the lunch rush, but there were many 2 tops and 4 tops open, and even after we ordered and ate, no one had come to sit at the table we had vacated, and the restaurant was half empty. I understand asking to move if it was truly busy, but asking us when there was no need was a little obnoxious, and then we had to put our bags on the floor or keep them on our laps (we had purses and small backpacks, not roller bags). The tables had QR codes, but the server told us not to use the app because it didn't have some items/some were incorrect. The place has live music sometimes, at the small stage in the corner, which could be a good way to pass the time. There is a large bar as well as a Grab and Go booth (though the offerings were incredibly generic). The serving of cheese curds we ordered came out quickly, but was incredibly small. When Republic had it's West Bank location, the serving size was at least double. They also must have changed their recipe, because the breading on this order was thick and quite salty. The cheese seemed like an afterthought. We also had to flag a server because we didn't have silverware to eat them with (normally I would just have gone for it, but we were in an airport and who knows what I had touched by then). My companion's burger was... fine. Breaks my heart a little because Republic used to be a haunt (#trivia) but I really can't recommend this location for anything other than a beer. read more

I was waiting for a flight so decided to give this place a shot. It was located in Terminal 1. The menu had a number of options with mostly bar food. The service was alright. It took some time for the check to be delivered, but besides that, it was alright. I had the honey-jalapeno chicken sandwich ($18). It also came with chips that were cooked too long. The sandwich had a fried chicken breast and honey-jalapeno slaw. This was not the best. The chicken was breaded too much so that was all that was tasted. The slaw just appeared to be regular coleslaw. There was not much honey or jalapeno tasted. The only jalapeno noticeable on the plate was the one on top of the sandwich. Will I go back? Finding a fresh hot meal is hard to do BBB in an airport. Get to the Republic for breakfast and a Bloody Mary with a beer back. The breakfast burrito was top notch, tots on the side and service was quick & friendly. They understood that I was catching a plane. It's between C and D gates, right across from Mickey D's, but skip the egg McMuffin get a fresh, healthy, hot breakfast at the Republic instead. Breakfast was about $20 with tots & a drink! At 7:30am, servers were in the back of the restaurant being loud and obnoxious. I chose to use the very corner of the bar to lean against as I waited for my McDonald's order while staying out of the way as you would when you're in an airport. Something I did because there was not a single customer inside the business. the waitresses did not like this and felt as if they needed to come and lecture me about how they "see it differently" when someone waits in the corner of their establishment 6 feet from where their floor ends and it becomes the airport. This waitress made it a point to tell me that even though the establishment is barren now it could get slammed any second and me standing quietly out of the way is a significant deterrent to customers. Had a plane delay at adjacent gate so decided to grab a bite here. It was nice that you could scan qr code to order and not have to wait for server to come over, but my server, Toni, was very attentive and appeared to be the only one working and doing so very intently. Weirdly expensive for Minneapolis imo (and this is coming from someone used to NYC prices). I got the pulled pork burger with fries which were $2 extra (as opposed to chips, included) and it was fine - the pulled pork was good, the burger itself was very dry. Fries were underwhelming. I also got a glass of wine which was, well, an overpriced glass of wine. Anyway, it is what it is. Would I go back? I travel quite frequently for work and Republic is the resultant closest to my gate! I've been here a few times and I can say the Chicken Cesar Salad is ~very~ good! My co-worker got the Chicken Sandwich & as seen in one of the photos the chicken portion compared to the bun was less than half. The food my wife and I had was better than expected. Granted, we had simple sandwiches- BELT and Turkey Club. We both upgraded to the fries which were some of the best generic airport fries I've had. The problem comes down to price. Those two sandwiches with fries and one soda was more than $50... and that feels kinda unethical to me. I don't care that we're trapped in an airport or that inflation has upped food prices across the board, $50 for two deli sandwiches, fries, and a drink should never cost $50. read more

I saw several reviews about poor service, but decided to risk it as I had a five-hour layover. Feel bad for me yet? My service from John was actually pretty good. My food on the other hand... I ordered a beer which came quickly and couldn't be screwed up. I was hankering a burger so I grabbed the bacon cheeseburger and upgraded to fries (instead of chips). The fries were the color of dark brown sugar, which tells me they were way overcooked or the grease was super old. The taste backed up the look. I ate one french fry and decided it couldn't possibly have been that bad, so I tried a second one. It WAS that bad. They were disgusting. The burger was completely devoid of flavor. It tasted like a frozen Bubba Burger that you get at the grocery store at a dozen for $3. The cheese did not taste natural. Speaking of unnatural tastes, the ketchup was a strange concoction of flavors that should not be in ketchup. At first I thought it was cocktail sauce because of the texture, but the flavor was neither ketchup nor cocktail sauce. It was kinda creepy not being able to determine the ingredients. read more

Republic was amazing when it comes to airport bar/eateries. I was on a layover and craving a Bloody Mary. Woody, made me the best one I've had in an airport thus far and understood extra spicy meant extra spicy. He even offered a beer chaser which I usually have to inquire for. I was happy to try some local MN beer. He was one of two bartenders working but the first to greet me with such joy. You can tell this man truly enjoys his job and is damn good at it. Working during covid can't be easy with guest sometimes but his personality shined even through the mask. I wish every airport had a Woody, it would make my travels more pleasurable. Flight boards in 20 minutes. Flying out of a new terminal today, and under no circumstances am I eating McGarbage. No freaking way. What else is in this terminal? Hmmm... Republic. Wonder how fast they can turn around a burger for me. 15 minutes? Nah, that's pushing it. Ooooh, fish tacos. AND chocolate brioche bread pudding?! Don't mind if I do! Sure, I'll have a beer while I wait. Ahhhh...Blue Moon never tasted so good. 10 minutes?! Wow that was fast! Another few minutes and I'm seated comfortably (with my seatbelt fastened, and my tray table in the upright position) and savoring two lightly fried fillets wrapped in corn tortillas and sprinkled with lots of crunchy cabbage, pico de gallo, and cheese. So gooooood! And no order of tacos is complete without chips and salsa. These were great, and I'm pretty sure they were housemade. Not sure which kind of seasoning they used on the chips, but it definitely gave them an extra boost of flavor. Now... about this bread pudding. Have you ever done something that was just so terribly, awfully wrong, but had absolutely no remorse because it felt so damn right? That's essentially this bread pudding in a nutshell. I only ate half of it on the plane because I realized I was starting to go full-on Meg Ryan and other people on the plane were staring to notice. I didn't even care. Stopped here for some appetizers and beer between flights. When we walked in to seat ourselves, I should have known to walk away when I had to warn our kids not to slip on greasy floor. The chairs slid around like they were on ice. We did have fun seeing who could make their chair slide around the most without touching the floor, though. We ordered 3 appetizers. Cheese curds, chips & guacamole, and beer cheese dip pretzel. The plates we were given to eat on were all coated with leftover grease from previous customers. So after writing our name on them with our fingers, we politely asked for new plates and explained to her the problem. The waitress brought out 4 more dirty plates without a word. So, we ate on napkins. Classy. The pretzel and beers were the highlight. The "guacamole" was actually half pico and we dumped out over a tablespoon of juice from the guac. The chips were very stale. Luckily, they made an extra to-go order and they brought that out to us as well. Those chips were at least not as stale. The cheese curds were fine, but were plated in an odd manor. It came on a large, over sized plate with a smear of something on it in the other corner that looked like it was dropped on there by mistake. That also included extra grease on the serving plate and bits of green somethings from whoever had that plate last. They need to invest in some soap. read more

Beer varieties were great. But the foods on the menu were very limited: a few burgers, sandwiches, and tacos. Service was just fine but a bit slow. The restaurant was small, loud and packed. Seats and tables were small and not quite comfortable. Tables were so close to each other that people with luggage may be bumping to each other between aisles. They had live music, which I don't care much in a diner at the airport. Overall experience was just OK. Since there are many choice around MSP airport. I don't think I am coming back. read more

This is probably the worst wrap I have ever eaten. At this point I don't even want to call it a "Chicken Pesto Wrap" which cost me $11. On display they made it seem like its a decent wrap, but after a bite you will be left with "greens" and greens only. See pic for details. And if the corporate see this, you guys should be ashamed!
