UPDATE 4.2.24: "Renton Computers" is simply incompetent for my projector troubleshooting and did not offer a reasonable solution once sending it back to me broken. Another shop was able to identify there is a bad sensor and replaced them. Returned it to me in working order. Full review below. REVIEW: I dropped off my projector for troubleshooting. I let them know it would power on, then turn itself off within a few minutes after turning on, with no image the whole time. A week or so later they called me letting me know its ready. I came back to pick it up, asked if it was working now, she did not know. We then plugged it in to test it, still didn't display an image. She said the tech let her know the lamp was bad (I just replaced with a brand new one before coming in) so I asked if the tech just defaulted to that, or if they were able to test the lamp, she was not sure. So I left after that wasted visit, with the plan for the tech call me. He said he was able to test for resistance and determined the lamp was bad. I came back to pick it up, replaced with another brand new lamp, just to find it still had the same exact issue I dropped it off with. No image, powers down a minute or two after turning it on. So after all of that, I am back to where I started, after paying them for a diagnostic fee. I have a call into them asking to either refund the fee, or for me to drop it off again, pay for any additional parts and labor to get it in working condition. They declined and stated the diagnostic was accurate, despite I have the same exact issue as before dropping it off, after replacing the lamp with two brand new lamps, which they continue to blame the issue on. That is very, very clearly not the issue. They will take your money and do nothing. Do NOT bring items here for troubleshooting or a diagnostic. Take your computers and electronics to Fix to get in Tukwila, they are competent, communicative and fixed my projector when Renton Computers gave a completely inaccurate and incorrect diagnostic. read more

May 2, 2018: Took my Lenovo Yoga 13 laptop in to get it fixed after 2 years of it not working. The issues: Screen would stay black as if I never touched the power button even though it was on. When laptop would turn on, certain keys wouldn't work (about 4 of them), but the others worked fine. You have to pay their diagnostic fee, which identifies whatever is wrong with the laptop, be it a hardware issue (physical problems with it) or a software issue (something wrong with the computer's programming that makes it not function properly). Renton Computers will tell you that the diagnostic is $45, but it's REALLY $50 ($49.50 in total, including tax). So be prepared for that. And you have to pay that upfront after telling them what's wrong with your computer. *Note*: It's a good idea to make a report of all the issues going on with your laptop so they have something to refer back to when checking for issues with your computer so they can fix it. When I made my report, they determined that the reason certain things like the screen not turning wasn't working due to a fried motherboard, which they had to replace. May 15, 2018: Laptop is finally repaired, all the issues fixed. In total, it took 2 weeks for them to fix my Yoga 13. Spent exactly $471.90 on the repairs in total. Like I said, I also paid the diagnostic fee of $49.50 to begin with, so REALLY, I paid $512 for my Yoga 13 to be fixed in all. These guys are expensive, but what do you expect for a computer repair shop? Be sure to save up a decent amount before going to these guys, just to be safe. I saved up $800 to be able to afford to fix my Yoga 13 and spent $512 altogether to get it fixed. WORTH EVERY PENNY. It's great having my laptop back after 2 years of it not working. These guys are worth it if you have the cash for your computer repair. Save up your money if you want to go to these guys...they're worth it. read more

Professional. Efficient. Responsive. I had corrupted my external hard drive and am pleased Greg was able to restore my files with my directory structure and filenames. The diagnostics was $45 and the data recovery was $90, for a total of $147.83 after tax. They informed me that my deleted files would be restored as well, and asked if that was okay, which it was. I brought in a portable drive to restore my files to on a Friday morning and Greg called me at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. I picked up my two drives, went home, and loaded the 260GB of restored files onto my computer's hard drive within three hours. I'm happy with the service and results and I highly recommend Renton Computers. read more

My computer was completely infested with viruses and adware, My neglected computer was not serviced in years and was running slow, taking forever to start up and load programs plus I was getting non-stop popups every time I was online. Renton Computers made short work of all my problems - $90 and a "malware removal and tune-up" later my computer felt like it did when I first got it. My new go-to tech Greg called me with a repair estimate and went over everything he was about to do before getting my approval to proceed with the repair. I had a Dell D620 laptop which was infected with a trojan virus. I called Tom at Renton Computers and he told me to bring it on it. I paid $40 + tax for the initial diagnostic - received a follow up call and was given a quote over the phone to repair the damages to my system files, as well as install the latest paid anti-virus software. I was very pleased upon picking my laptop up that everything was covered by the initial estimate. For less than the price of a new computer, mine is working perfectly again. Tuesday morning, I walked into a well-known computer chain store panicking about my flash drive being corrupted by a virus. They referred me to Renton Computers for a second opinion. They told me what the problem was, how it could be fixed and quoted me a reasonable price. Thursday afternoon, I received a text telling me they were able to recover some of my work. Renton's PC was a pleasant experience for me. The staff was educated and helpful in walking me through the process of selecting the best desktop computer for my needs. They answered my queries patiently and explained technical specifications. For the quality of the PC I purchased, the price was acceptable.
