Caliber had been by far the best company we worked with: they listened to our needs, helped us refining it and only showed us apartments that matched the majority of our criteria AND budget (without telling us to compromise). Thanks to them we landed our cosy family nest on East 85th and have been enjoying our balcony and amazing skyline view since then.

Having spent those countless nights on street easy and browsing listing I came across a listing I fell in love with. I contacted Chezi Zarur(a.k.a SUPER AWESOME AGENT) and I was surprised at how fast he was when responding to my inquiry. Chezi was very informative and knew the city like the back of his hand. He asked my boyfriend and I what we were looking for, our price range and when we wanted to move. We met up and he explained everything to me, he said he can show me the listing I wanted and also had one in my mind which he said I would love even more. Hesitant I agreed to look at the other listings..I fell in love with the building and the layout of the one bedroom. He wasn't done yet and said before I make any decisions he wanted to show me a few more to make sure that was the apartment I wanted. Having the opportunity to work with and close on an apartment with Chezi has been so easy and quick. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for and I highly recommend dealing with him if you are looking to move in the City. I can guarantee that he's not like the rest of the Brokers in Manhattan who just want to make money off there clients and put them anywhere...he actually cares that you are making a good decision and looks for ways around brokers fees etc. Great Broker, Super nice and caring! Amazing experience. What are you waiting for, find your dream apartment!

The morning of the appointment I confirmed by text as I was embarking on transit. I arrived on time to find Orli was not there, but someone named Missy was extremely rude and announced that there were four well qualified applicants already and there was no point in her showing me the rental. Instead of apologizing she scolded me for not being in contact with Orli since the day before. I told her I'd confirmed with her by text and no one told me the apartment was rented. No apology or acknowledgement that they had screwed up -- just attitude from Missy. Orli was nowhere to be found. Then Missy had the nerve to suggest she would try to find me something else, as if I'd want to work with her after that.

MyGradPad posted an apartment on facebook that looked to be exactly what I wanted, so I sent over an email and got a response almost immediately. Brittny, the owner of the company and the broker, scheduled a time for me to visit the apartment within 24 hours. The apartment is beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Brittny was extremely flexible with scheduling meetings and responded to emails, texts, phone calls very promptly. She made what could have been a very stressful process into an enjoyable one! My only complaint would be that once I was approved for the lease, I wasn't given much information or direction on the move-in process. Despite this, I would recommend MGP to anyone, especially recent grads, looking for a stress-free apartment search.

I am really, really good at spotting fake Yelp reviews, so when I was looking for a broker, I…read morebasically threw out any company where the majority of the positive reviews were obviously fake. This left me with VERY few options at the time, one of which was Realty Collective. I didn't want to use them at first, just because it seemed like their area of interest was an area we can't afford. At first, we searched on our own, but after getting screwed by landlords a few times, I said "screw this" and contacted some brokers. Some were terrible (protip: if I ask to view a specific place and you refuse to give me the address, you're clearly a baiting-and-switching douche), some were mediocre, and then there's Realty Collective. The only thing I hate is their website: the search feature is kinda borked and doesn't show the right results, and the contact form is weird--you don't really know if you're just contacting in general or about a specific place. So I sent in an email about one place, didn't hear back for a day or two, figured it was off the market. But first thing Monday morning, I got an email from the lovely Maris James, who offered us an even cooler place at a great price. I explained that we were on a tight budget because, while I have two roommates, they're both grad students and I don't want to rely on them for a huge chunk of the rent in case anything happened. I work full-time, and so I wanted to only look at apartments that (a) would fit three people and a yappy little dog, and (b) would be affordable on my salary. Sounds bloody impossible, right? A lot of people complain about feeling rushed by brokers, and that's their right, but honestly, I love it. I *hate* moving, so I want to just sort of rip off the band-aid as fast as possible. I show up with all my paperwork in hand and seriously would sign a lease in 15 minutes if I could get away with it. I also have very low standards--if it's not actively on fire, I'm like "I'll take it!" I know this can be really frustrating to brokers just because I have no real idea of what I want and I don't care, but I feel like Maris did an amazing job figuring out what we liked about the place we had originally asked about and basically matching it and, in our case, even making it better. She was also totally understanding of my desire to Get Shit Done, and so we viewed the place and signed the lease (with $100 off the rent!) on the same day. As a bonus, she mentioned that she had lived in two different buildings run by this same management company, so we knew almost exactly what we were getting into in terms of expectations. (And they've been awesome--living here has been an absolute pleasure so far.) They moved fast, but we never felt pressured, which is awesome. Maris also did an awesome job keeping in touch with us throughout the process, and was very helpful every step of the way. The fees ain't cheap, but I will definitely get in touch with them in the future if we ever move again (god I hope not).
