Here is my experience: Finding an apartment in NYC is always difficult, not only is it hard to find the "right" space there is an abundance of competition for the better apartment. My wife and I had bounced between real estate brokers, not satisfied with what we were being shown or the assistance we were receiving. Then we met up with Mike Djozic from DiGiulio Group Real Estate. I would characterize Mike as knowledgeable, ambitious, and hardworking. He will even work outside of typical hours to accommodate us. We showed Mike an apartment that we really wanted to view. For days we were having trouble setting up a time to view this apartment using the broker we were speaking to. But within a couple of hours of showing the apartment to Mike, he had set up a time to view the apartment. That time was the very next day; we got to view the apartment within 24 hours of showing it to Mike. Mike's work ethic really shined in this situation. He got the job done. But at this point, it was still not going to be as easy as just putting in the application. Because of the competition for this space (it was a great space), someone applied right before us. But that didn't stop Mike from positioning our application in case the first applicant wasn't approved. He set up everything so that, if it was possible, we would be ready to apply right away for the apartment we really wanted. We had some luck because the first applicant was denied, and Mike was ready to put in our application in right away. Mike then followed the application, step by step, to ensure that everything went smoothly. Because of his diligence, knowledge, and persistence we are in an apartment that is simply awesome. I found a great Manhattan apartment through the DiGiulio group and especially enjoyed working with Charmine Fraboni, who really felt like a friend (Adam Sindeband was also very helpful, especially in addressing what is typical when looking in NYC and helping me plan). I was very hesitant to use a broker (mostly because of the expensive 15% annual rent fee) - but after a discouraging search on my own (and with the only decent places I saw also requiring 15% fee, despite their not representing me), I decided to at least see a few places with Charmine. She was lovely and really earned my trust; having someone so friendly to work with eased a stressful process incredibly, and I'd highly recommend working with her! The third place we saw was perfect - and also due to the really kind landlord - I signed my lease the very next day! After deciding to apply (the landlord was there to show us the place, which helped the process, since he could casually interview me, as well as my mom/co-guarantor), we went back to the DiGiulio office to complete the paperwork. Charmine, Adam, and several others were efficient, patient, and effective, submitting everything that afternoon - and within less than 2 hours of submitting, I'd heard that I'd been approved. We finished details and met with the landlord the next day (Charmine accompanied). The process was so much smoother than I'd imagined it would be! I really appreciated how accessible and attentive Charmine was (text, email, and phone) - I had a lot of questions and initially was unusually skeptical about the process. I couldn't have been more pleased with the professionalism I experienced with the DiGiulio group, the apartments they showed me (especially the one I chose), and most of all, with how nice Charmine was. Adam Sindeband seriously saved my significant other and me from a horrible situation! We were slated to move to New York from Michigan last month and had met with a couple of brokers who didn't really listen to our needs in finding a new apartment. We settled though. We sent our deposits for an apartment only to be met with having to drop more money for an apartment we didn't really want (but my new job was starting soon). The landlord wanted more liquid assets that I didn't have. I called around everywhere to see I could find another solution. Somehow I landed on Adam Sindeband's number and it was like a miracle. He gave me insight into what was happening with the situation I was currently in and said he'd go grab some videos (I was in MI) of some places I'd like. I liked the ones he had sent but they were super far from my workplace. I had to decline those places. Two days pass and he calls me in the morning and checks on me to see if I had gone through with the other place/found anything new. I hadn't. At this point, I felt all hope was gone. He tells me to give him a callback at 5 pm if I don't find anything by then. I didn't even have to. He called me at 3 pm telling me he found a 2.5 bedroom apartment for the price range I was looking at for 1 bedroom that would be only 30-minute commute from my job. I ended up having to go with a broker fee but it was absolutely worth it. He found me the space I needed for my pet and my partner and got us an extra bedroom while at it. Adam & Luis are definitely the guys you want on your side. I was a bit nervous contacting at first, because we had history with a previous broker who turned out to not really fulfill our needs. But from the start, Luis emailed back immediately on a Wednesday night & kept contact with me through the entire process. Even down to offering to pick up the rent check and help us get it to the landlord. On top of that, they both were incredibly cognizant of my study schedule during my final exams week, and made sure to get everything I needed in the midst of studying. They both answered all of my questions, and didn't hesitate to find out immediately if they didn't have an answer right then. Adam did a great job finding us an apartment that was within our budget, and that actually even had an extra bedroom. On the day of the actual apartment showings, we met Adam in his office where he discussed all of our needs. One of which was being able to find space for a golden retriever in NYC. And then he had Luis take us to the apartments. Luis did a great job of asking for what we liked/what we didn't like in each apartment, and made sure to talk us through each apartment. It's not common to find people in NYC who are just absolutely willing to help you find what you need, but are willing to go above and beyond your expectations. First off, I'll say I was extremely overwhelmed by the conquest of relocating permanently to a city I've visited one time. Compared to Chicago, New York has quite a few differences in formalities when it comes to renting an apartment... Not to mention NYC is significantly larger than Chicago - which presents that much more to digest (neighborhood vibes & offerings, safety, affordability, etc.). Justin was prepared with an answer to my every question (I had a LOT of them). Him & his associate squashed any and all insecurity with legitimately helpful pros/cons. The viewing/showing process was not gimmicky or pushy (which I cannot say about all brokers! - Many of which I witnessed during mass-showings). And the initially intimidating application process turned out to be a total breeze! Upon approval, a genuine "congrats" was SO appreciated & made me feel legitimately welcomed. And even after signatures had been written & checks had been delivered, Justin remained available for questions about keys, utilities, etc. - which is a RARE quality post-transaction. If I could do it all over again, I'd hands-down select Justin to be my broker... and hey, if I ever choose to move to a new apartment I won't hesitate to use him again either. read more

I started my apartment search by phoning and emailing several brokers about their apartment listings. This was virtually a waste of time until I called The DiGiulio Real Estate Group. We set up an appointment, met and went over details. I met with Brian Rainey and Weit Rimbaud. Brian heads a group of agents and Weit was the agent I worked with. Adam and Luis made what should've been a stressful last minute apartment search extremely easy and straight forward. They were extremely responsive and polite throughout the process, and made the effort to truly understand what we needed in our new apartment. They listened to our limitations and desires and showed us a good variety of places that could fit those needs. These guys also seem to genuinely enjoy what they do and truly care about their clients, beyond the just the base goal of finding a new place. They work to make the process as easy as possible. In the end, we reached out to them on a Wednesday, met them Saturday, and had a lease signed the following Wednesday, all a week before we wanted to move in. This review is long overdue but moving out and finding a decent size apartment for a reasonable price in NYC while PREGNANT is not easy but Zane and Mario made the impossible possible. They were both so diligent and took the time to meet with me and met all my demands and I had quite a few - elevator, spacious apartment, nice area, close to public transportation, laundry unit, etc. Prior to my partner and I moving in, Zane, Mario, and the management office worked closely together on making any improvements to the apartment. They even replaced the bathroom floor tiles when I only asked for the toilet to be changed because it was lopsided and without a lid. They honestly went above and beyond. I can not say enough good things about this realty group. They are honestly very nice and actually listen to their clients. So do not hesitate to reach out and work with this great company. As someone who's moved around a LOT in the city, I've come to understand that meeting with 20 different brokers to see 20 different apartments is not at all efficient. Honestly, the NY estate market is already challenging, but if you're an international college student looking for an 1 person apartment, it's pretty much Hell - people are apparently very reluctant to take on a guarantor whose funds are on the other side of the Atlantic, and the few who do usually ask for a year upfront. Adam and McKay at the DiGiulio team took the challenge in stride. We first met in January, and by the end of March, I had in my hands the lease for a nice studio in the East Village (literally, walking distance from NYU), and best of all, it was month-by-month. I met Sherice with one hell of a dilemma. Like, I can't even. I was new to NY, busy at a new job, had to move within a couple of weeks, wanted to be in a specific neighborhood, AND had a restricted budget. Sherice's effort is unmatched.
