My experience at ReMo's cafe was solid. The food was good, the service was excellent and the ambience felt laid back and quiet. There are no frills about this place, it honestly just feels like your ma and pa shop. There are a few seats at the restaurant, I think this is a good spot for you to order to go. Here's what we ordered. I got the Fried catfish with green beans and cabbage and my friend ordered the chopped beef sandwich with fries. I definitely had to get some kool aid as well. My fish was cooked to perfection. It was fried hard & the batter was crispy. The batter didn't miss a pinch of seasoning. Probably one of the best fried catfish's I've had. The green beans and cabbage were forgettable. Seasoning wasn't really there except for heat. My friend sandwich was decent. The bread was nicely toasted with butter. The meat could've been more tendered but not bad because it was seasoned. Maybe a little salty but better than bland. The fries was definitely made in house and it was delicious. My kool aid was made just right, sweet. Overall, it was very good. I would come back just for the catfish. They definitely made it with love. Next time I'll try something different along with the catfish as well. Shoutout to Regina, I think she's the owner/manager. Great service. read more

ReMo's Cafe - 1 FILLET, 6 SHRIMP - Barbeque Near Me - Houston, Texas

Good golly, Miss Molly! Stopped because it was on the way, will have to make this a regular thing. The folks were pleasant and helpful. It's a simple storefront place, clean but nothing bougie, BUT the food! First off you can smell the smoke from outside, we decided against BBQ since that was the plan for dinner, the well seasoned seafood and some sides, deserve a review of their own. The greens tasted of BBQ smoke and love, felt I needed to put on a Al Greene album while eating them, mmmm. Also, get the tartar sauce, and then forget everything you know about tartar sauce, sublime, zesty, and down right scrumptious. Had to make myself stop making yum sounds all through lunch. read more

I was highly disappointed in the food on my visit. The greens were soggy and tasteless. The Mac and cheese tasted spoiled. Even the lemonade was bad. The brisket and chicken was decent, although the chicken was very spicy. Compared to the sides, the meat was good. Service was cool, nothing to gloat about or speak negatively about. read more

The best brisket sandwich....also try the greens and cornbread! They have a lot to choose from and I appreciated the courteous service from a young man and also a seasoned woman on multiple occasions. Thank you both! And the cook read more

THE BEST! Absolutely worth the money and drive. Hands down the best BBQ I've been to. Brisket and sausage were so flavorful, the Mac n cheese was exactly how I like it, thick and creamy with a punch of flavor! The service was great and they were both very kind and friendly. Thankful this place is around! read more

Hands down great clean location which is the 1st thing that stood out to me definitely A+ in that book for me. Service it was myself and two others in line and all three of us were assisted very promptly and efficiently. When I got home which I ordered the rib plate which came with two sides the greens "make you wanna slap ya mama" (literally don't do that). Ribs was Perfecto and I mean like "crack from the 80's" didn't need any sauce although their sauce was to die for as well. Definitely, coming back more often for sure. read more

I've been here twice now and am sure to go back several times more before my project here is complete. The food is absolutely delicious. I've gotten the fried fish & shrimp (y'all, their cocktail sauce is to die for) and the greens are the best I've ever had. I've also had their chicken & rice (how did they get that chicken to taste so good?!?). There's so much more on the menu that I am desperate to try. And the service is impeccable. I love going here! read more

I wanted BBQ and was on Yelp, came across this hidden gem!! 1st off the service was awesome,.. they explained and described the food items to me, were so nice and pleasant.. 2nd.. the food.. OMG.. I got BBQ and FRIED CATFISH!! The tarter and cocktail were delish, but the seasoning on that fish.. u don't need anything!! Hot, crispy and seasoned to perfection! I drove from the Energy Corridor and it was so worth the drive! The greens, mac & cheese, and that pound cake.. you have to get the pound cake.. needless to say this will be my go to for some great, home cooked bbq and catfish!! read more

Great family restaurant located between Subway and Papa John's. Been here a few times because the catfish sandwich is so good! Customer service is always perfect. No matter who is taking your order, it's a pleasant experience. Staff is always patient and ready to answer question about the menu or your order. They're always polite and professional so it really is a great place to spend your money. My first time in, the young lady that took and bagged my order, was the perfect cashier. She had just finished taking someone else's order, so she put on a pair of gloves and showed me my food before placing it in a bag. I was very appreciative of how mindful she was considering Covid. Overall, 5 stars for Remo's! The catfish sandwich always hits the spot, but one of these days I'll try the bbq too. read more

Food was excellent. And the staff was very friendly for The price it was OK so if you are ever in the area, you should try this place out.

Tried the fish and shrimp with greens and cabbage sides. The fish was seasoned good and the fillets were whole fillets. The fish was good. The shrimp were nice size and seasond like the fish. The cabbage was steamed no seasoning or meat. The greens needed more cooking time and seasoning. I also ordered the TX/LA..pork ribs/stuffed pork sides potato salad and baked beans. The stuffed pork was dry and over cooked. Very tough. I could not eat it. Gave it to the dog. The pork ribs were tender but no seasoning. The potato salad and beans were ok. Nothing special. Not bad but nothing special. I will go back for the fish and shrimp only. read more

I more than offend never get to take pictures of my food because I'm a greedy hog I always take pictures of the menus or inside. Exactly because you would want to know how it's looking inside before you go somewhere of course. The service was excellent I totally forgot her name but you will know once you enter the building the peach cobbler was recommended and eaten in no time lord! I purchased the brisket sandwich and omg! Omg! I didn't even make it home the most beautiful organized sand which on this earth was something to try! The room was a mixture of well seasoned and hipsters so you can enter at any risk. Great for any family and friends a. read more

This place has been on my list to try and today, I had time. I remember reading another review about not seeing the specials for the day so upon entry, I was scoping! I didn't see it either so I went to the register to look at the menu. A few minutes later, a gentleman greeted me and he actually mentioned the special for today and pointed to the board (it's a white board behind the counter to the left). I went with the Thursday special of turkey wing plate with rice, cornbread, and 2 sides for $12.50 and the Cowboy combination plate which was preselected with sausage and brisket $15.99. The sausage stood out for me! I would've liked a little more spice but it was just enough to make me dance. The brisket was good and tasty. The sides was on the ight side. Oh and the cornbread was really good too...had a nice sweetness to it. I also appreciated how when my order was complete, the lady showed me all the food before she put it in a bag and told me to have a blessed day. Made me feel good to support this business! read more

This was my first time here, and I'm really happy to have found another bbq/soul food restaurant in my area. I ordered the rib sandwich with a side of coleslaw and 1 pound of Chicken quarters with a side of potato salad. The staff was courteous and the restaurant was clean. A slight problem I had was that I wasn't made aware of the daily specials. The special was on a sign on the wall, but it was off to the side in a location that wasn't easily visible while I was ordering. If I would have known about the special, I would have gotten that instead since it had the same chicken entree I wanted for a better deal. But the food was good and the service was fast. I will be back to try their brisket and mac and cheese! read more

I am not a fan. Visited around 3:15 pm, 0n Saturday afternoon, they were out of some food that I wanted. No potato salad, no greens. Ribs were so tough, no sausage. Greens were ok but not what I expected for souk food. Chicken was ok but not great. All in all, I was not satisfied. I went there from reading the reviews, though after getting my food I wondered if they were written by the owners or employees. However, the pound cake was ok but wrapped on tin foil and not a container. If I may make a suggestion, be sure your restaurant is supplied efficiently for the weekend. read more

I am SO glad I remembered this place mentioned by a friend and decided to get my BBQ baked potato here instead of a chain I usually frequent. I can't lie, the chain would have been only $7.99 but the portion would have been LESS than HALF of what I got at ReMo's @ ($17). I decided on the Third Ward potato w/3 meats - HONEYYYYYYY lemme tell you this was the TRUTH, RUTH!!!!! All the meats were flavorful and the potato perfectly cooked and LOADED - I will be eating on this for at LEAST 2 days. If you were even SORTA thinking to try this spot - DO IT!!!! Place your order nowwwww!!!!! ISSAGO!!!!!!! read more

Went to remos for some BBQ I was very happy with the service and food. The place is clean you can see into the kitchen and from what I could see looked good with covid going on today that's nice to see taken seriously. I got the Htown special and that comes with three preselected meats of sausage, brisket, and ribs. That's what I normally get to try a new bbq joint so they got a plus from me there. Its 15.99 and that's pretty fair for bbq. My 2 sides I choose were greens and macaroni and cheese. The greens were probably the low point they went bad at all just didn't seem much added to them. The mac and cheese was good I liked the fact it wasn't drowning in cheese seemed more adult. The brisket was good had a nice fat cap on top of it, the smokey bbq sauce went well with it. The ribs were tender and good came with rib tips and 2 rib bones meaty ribs too. I liked the sausage it seems homemade. I would like it spicier myself, but I know folks complain if you make stuff spicy but the option would be nice they had nice flavor and a little spice too. All in all I will be back I use to drive to Ray's bbq to get a fix before he moved to the more commercial spot. It unfortunately ain't what it was. But when one door closes another one opens. This ones closer too lol. Anyway go try out some good bbq you wont be dissatisfied. read more

This place always hits the spot. It might be a bit pricey, but it is worth it. Food is great and the staff are always nice.

My daughter was in the mood for BBQ the other day, so I suggested we go to ReMo's BBQ on Fondren and the Beltway. I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The food was fresh and hot, and the brisket and ribs were very tender. I'm a wimp when it comes to spice, so the sausage had a little too much heat for me, but I ate it anyway along with some bread and sweet bbq sauce. My daughter loved everything and wants to go back really soon. I told her she better not go without me, but if she does, she better bring me back some food. read more

Found Remos after our office moved into the area. Have been there a couple times so far. First was for a chopped brisket sandwich (which was incredible) second time was for brisket loaded fries also amazing. Fries are large enough to feed 2-3 people easily. Some of the best brisket I've ever had. No need for sauce but their bbq sauce is also really good. People are always friendly when I go there. My family carried out so I can't speak on the service but the food was amazing. We got a tray of probably 20-30 ribs and some brisket with mac and cheese and yams as the sides. The mac and cheese left a little to be desired but nothing that wasn't fixable at home. The ribs, brisket, and yams...oh my gosh they were amazing. Ribs were falling off the bone, the brisket was so tender and juicy, and the yams tasted like home. Everyone was super impressed. We'll be back! read more

I had an amazing meal at this restaurant. They have been popping up on my Instagram for some time and finally took time to go and try them out. I ordered the kids plate which consisted of a choice of meat and a side. I picked the dark meat chicken and macaroni. I got this because I wasn't sure if the food was going to be good and didn't want to waste my money if it wasn't. Boy was I wrong!!! I wish I had gotten a normal size plate because I literally was licking my fingers when I was done. The chicken was made juicy and well seasoned and the homemade barbecue sauce completely set it off. The macaroni and cheese was a good balance between cheesy and savory. I definitely would come back here again to try the other items on this meal. I was very much impressed by the customer service, cleanliness of the restaurant, and how fresh my food tasted and looked. read more
