Hard to say if the coffee is any good or not, wife and I waited for 10 mins in front of the register without being greeted or any acknowledgement of us being there by the barista. We were the only ones there in line. Little frustrating trying to help a local biz and their being zero effort from the service side. Walking to another local biz instead. read more

CUTE OUTSIDE BUT CAPABLE INSIDE A slight walk away from the craziness of the tourists' street, I'll bet Relampago offers better brews than any of the businesses along St. George's Street. While the cute patio at the front and rear remind you of an old house, the interior is a modern coffee shop with all the best tools including a Kyoto drip, pour-overs, Kombucha on tap, and some craft sodas. MACCHIATOS AND COLD COFFEE Their Cold Brew Coffee was well done; not bitter in any way. Smooth and refreshing from the outside heat. My Mocha Macchiato was pretty good (I prefer other places) with just a tad more milk and chocolate syrup than preferred, but still good. ENJOYING INSIDE There were only four small tables inside; they had room for a few more. Thankfully one table emptied after we were only waiting around the counter for a minute. It would also be nice if this place positioned itself more as a place to relax, hangout, do a board game or work. For some reason, we weren't given the option of taking ours to-go or not (resulting in our drinks being in disposable containers). Love the vibe! The barista is friendly and I just had a delicious Cortado! I drove up from Daytona visiting St Augustine Beach. Always enjoy finding the hidden gem coffee place, and my go to drink is a Cortado. Well there were other options here for sure, but wanted to give this a go. And I am glad I did! Relampago is a St. Augustine Coffee Shop Staple. Its sister to Dos Coffee located uptown. Adorable old house with a modern inside feel. They have a variety of coffee, kombucha and baked goods. Dos and Relampago roast all coffee in house. My favorite is the Lindsay cold brew with caramel and almond milk. Its the perfect spot to catch up on reading or get work done. There is inside and outside seating available. Relampago is conveniently located right off of St. George Street close to all the downtown shops and restaurants. This place is the real deal for coffee enthusiasts. It's located nicely in the city near public parking and has lots of seating options inside or outside. We tried the Columbian pour over and a quad ice latte with oat milk. The shots were very smooth and complimented the oat milk while the Columbian had a delightful fruity flavor. We were very satisfied with both drinks. We also tried the mango-lime (vegan) muffins and devoured them. They were so good! The barista was very pleasant and we greatly enjoyed our morning here. I stopped in because I was intrigued by the name of it being a "lab". They have a cold brew that is brewing in the background in test tubes and glass that looks not only cool but is delicious as well. Great spot in st Augustine with plenty of coffee options. The pour overs seem to be the main draw but the lavender latte and cinnamon latte is really good. Great little patio in the back to enjoy some peace and quiet too. Didn't give it five stars only because the turnovers we got were just ok- I don't think they make them onsite here. read more

Relampago Coffee Lab has a lot going for it. The location is remarkably beautiful, tucked away in the backstreets of historic St. Augustine. It has a desirably modern yet old town charm that makes it so easy to spend time at. The barista was friendly, but she was working solo and was in a rush. Fair prices. A rare automatic pour over machine churned out their own roasted single origins. Novel idea that helps multitasking, but I feel defeats the purpose of having high end roasted coffee. I would expect them to treat the brew craft with as much love and attention as the roasting. For this I am disappointed. The Ethiopian I had was good; a light bodied clean blueberry graham coffee. I stated that it was 'for here' and got a paper to-go cup, which I normally wouldn't mind if it were lesser coffee, but it distorts the notes. I wanted to carefully taste everything this cup had to offer. If it wasn't for the barista being so rushed I would have asked for a ceramic cup. I'm easy going so I decided to let it slide and head out back to relax on the deck. My wife got the iced coconut mocha; she enjoyed it but liked it better from Kookaburra. Overall, would recommend, but certainly don't make this your only coffee stop in town! read more
