Great little coffee gem in the middle of the old town! I came here initially just to work and I didn't mind paying for parking due to the level and quality of service and beverages. There's also a back patio with sunny outdoor seating. They specialize in craft coffee, but they offer many other options including tea, matcha, sodas and kombucha. They also offer milk alternatives like almond, soy, coconut and oat milk. The Floridian next door allows you to take Relampago into the restaurant which is a game changer. I'm not sure how, but Relampago did not make our initial list of coffee shops to try on our St. Augustine adventure. Thankfully, a couple at our Bed and Breakfast overheard the conversation about our quest and advised that Relampago was a must. I snuck a peek at their Yelp rating and quickly rearranged our plan, setting out on foot towards Spanish Street. While a little off the beaten path, this coffee "lab" was sleek, modern, and very clean; something I'd expect in a modern city versus the historical streets of St Augustine. The clientele was primarily made up of Flagler students studying between classes and a local shop owner or two fueling up before the day ahead. The menu was straightforward, with your lattes, drip coffees, teas, etc. but my eye was caught by the Pumpkin Spice Latte that boasted homemade pumpkin sauce. There are seats inside the coffee shop, or there's a charming garden in the back. My husband and I took our coffees out back and enjoyed the peace and quiet before our busy day ahead. This coffee shop ended up being my husband's favorite coffee of the trip. We were sure to thank our B&B cohorts for the recommendation. read more

I had the nitro cold brew from here and it was good but it didn't really taste like nitro cold brew. It tasted like normal cold brew but since the flavor was good I'm not really complaining. I also had the turkey and Swiss croissant and that was so delicious! It was a huge sandwich so I felt like it was definitely worth $6.50 but it was a little cold in the middle. There was only one person working so the service was a little slow but she did her best so I'm not knocking this place for that reason. Except for the shortened hours we love this place. The coffee beans can be purchased and we found the espresso roast to be very good, just different from our usual dark roast. A very cute and local coffee shop. It's conveniently located next to a public parking lot and is walking-distance to the heart of St. Augustine shoppes. I did some intense studying at Relampago, as did almost every visitor. Most of its customers were college students, or people simply doing laptop work. You can focus on work and enjoy good coffee and scenery all at the same time. It has a an outside area for when the weather is nice. The baristas were also courteous in helping me decide what to order. They even sell pastries and sodas if you are craving something other than coffee. Overall, Relampago achieves St. Augustine's historic purpose with its interior and exterior appearances- add good coffee to it, and it would become a must-visit stop if you're touring the area. read more

Five stars for our overall experience at St. Aug's newest coffeeshop. You know me by now, so when brick walls, subway tiles and a sexy espresso machine are incorporated into a business it's going to receive my stamp of approval. Relampago specializes in craft coffee options for all types of folks. Cortados, macchiattos, cappuccinos, pourovers, etc. all priced reasonably to the modern consumer. My wacky family basically took over the shop this past Sunday. They allowed us to move their few tables together and celebrate a family birthday. Having small children in our party, I will say, the wood floors do get loud. So be sure not to stomp. There are a few tables on the front porch as well. I assume, this will be more of a grab-and-go option for the working/industry peeps in St. Aug. However, Relampago has phenomenal branding (swag, t-shirts, mugs) and I hope they can piggyback on their popular next door neighbors. Welcome! read more

We came across this little place by chance and I'm so glad we did. It kind of tucked back from everything else downtown so it can be easy to miss. This was the best coffee shop we tried on our trip. I love coffee anything and always try to visit new places while traveling. They roast their own beans here and it's so good! The flavor is perfect. We tried a couple of popular shops people would recommended and they were just ok this place was our favorite. They do close kind of early I think we showed up a hour before closing and they weren't busy at all I'm sure they might be earlier in the day with the locals. It was very open and clean inside and the lady working was the only employee we saw at the time but she was nice and made our drinks quickly. The ambience is elegant yet rustic. They have nice patio seatings outside in the front and back of the shop. I love the mosaic tables which add a nice charm. Selfishly, I've also never experienced a long line there (hope this review doesn't change that!) If you need a nitro cold brew, this is the place to go. They also have their own roasted coffee beans that they sell bagged in-store, which is roasted just a couple miles up the road at their sister location (DOS). In the food/drink case near the register you can find pastries (sometimes vegan ones!) and sandwiches, along with some granola and protein bars. They're located right downtown - next to the Floridian - and have a nice back patio seating area if you have time to enjoy your coffee instead of getting it to go. Only docking a star because it's a little pricey, there's no frequent-purchaser reward program, and the hours are kind of late in the morning for those trying to get coffee before work. read more

Charming, hipster coffee shop off the main tourist streets and not too busy! My husband enjoyed his mocha, but my matcha latte was pretty much undrinkable. The matcha settled (not sure why), so it tasted like warm milk with a hint of something. I couldn't drink just warm milk, so I just took a few sips. They probably need to work on their matcha technique! Next time I'd definitely stick to coffee (but a matcha latte is so nice in the afternoon!).
