After several frustrating encounters with large, overly sales-driven companies that pushed me toward unnecessary upgrades and gave me wildly different opinions on what I actually needed, I came across EJ on Nextdoor. From the very first phone call, EJ stood out. Unlike others who immediately jumped to "replace the entire unit," EJ's first instinct was simply, let's take a look and see if we can fix this for now so you're not suffering in the heat. He came out a few days later, ran diagnostics, and even added a bit of Freon free of charge so our home could stay cool while we figured out next steps. At that point, I hadn't committed to going with him for the full replacement - he just wanted to help. That kind of integrity is rare. When we did move forward with the replacement, EJ's quote wasn't necessarily the cheapest, and I had hesitations about brand (Innovair) I hadn't heard of before. But what mattered to me was trust. And EJ delivered. He and his daughter handled the installation over a day and a half. I could see that they worked with care, explained clearly, and left us with a system that runs well. What gives me the most peace of mind is knowing that I can rely on EJ for years to come. He runs a family-owned business that truly embodies honesty, craftsmanship, and service. After so many negative experiences with companies that felt more like marketing machines than service providers, it feels good to finally have someone I can trust. read more

Reitz Heating & Air - New Innovair AC - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Ramona, California

EJ was referred to me by a neighbor. Once I reached out to them we scheduled a time for him to see the property. They were quick with their quote and we scheduled the work for the following week. Everything went well, they were prompt, clean, reasonable and very personable. EJ and his daughter installed a mini-split at my rental house in South Park. He made a great recommendation and we're very happy with the way everything turned out. We will definitely use them again for the remodel on our own place and our other rental. Thanks EJ, all the best! read more

Ej and Madison showed up early and just did a fantastic job. EJ's work ethic and thoroughness are top notch, he goes out of his way to make sure everything is just perfect. I wouldn't use anyone else. Thank you EJ & Madison for the new awesome system and for saving my dogs from the Santee heat! read more

Wow! EJ's knowledge, patience, and thoroughness is to be applauded. When contacted about our a/c going out, he called back almost immediately and explained steps to try. He then came over asap with his daughter and they fixed our issue efficiently. We have already recommended him to friends and family and will continue to use Reitz as needed. It is such a relief to find a business you can completely trust and count on. Above and beyond our expectations. read more

EJ is always efficient and responsive to my A/C needs. He installed my A/C a few ago and has serviced it magnificently since. I recommend him to everyone that has an A/C. Wonderful small family owned business. read more

I highly recommend EJ and his daughter. We had 3 previous estimates and he came in with the best price, along with great communication. They ended up finishing the job faster than expected so they adjusted our bill down - who does that?! I will use them again and recommend them to all my friends and neighbors. read more

I saw many, many people recommending EJ on NextDoor, so I went ahead and gave him a call. Our house is older and only had a wall unit for AC. We knew we needed central AC for the coming summer. We met with about 5 different companies. EJ was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly to us. We had central heating and previous ductwork, so I wanted to utilize existing ducts. He didn't try to add more vents or ductwork and I liked that. A couple companies wanted to rip the house apart. When the time came for install, EJ and Carlos were incredibly professional! It's always really nice to have people who make you feel at ease when they are inside your home! We have been enjoying our updated HVAC system a few days now and we are thrilled! I would recommend EJ and his crew to anyone! They do an outstanding job, and their work is very very neat and clean! I loved their respect for our home also! read more

EJ - What can I say? My central A/C has been noisy, short cycling, and generally a pain in the butt for the past year or so. Numerous companies have come out, and I get the same story every time. "Your A/C is old, and you need a completely new system." I contacted EJ, and he came right out, determined I needed a new fan motor, ordered the part and installed it. Now the system is running better than it has done in years. EJ is honest, hard-working, and gets the job done. If you are looking for an HVAC guy, look no further. EJ will be my only HVAC guy from this day forward. read more

I was in dire need of a mini split for my attached unit that I will be renting out. I had no less than 7 companies come out and present proposals/estimate to me. I had done my due diligence and researched companies head to tails. I chose Reitz heating and air. I was just gobsmacked with e.j. (i call him Elmer! ;) ) "he had me at hello" from his being on time for our appointment to his presentation and end result! even my puppy fell in love with him!!! from his demeanor, professionalism, honesty as well as his 'chill', e.j. is an extremely hard worker! results were amazing. no matter how many questions I had asked: he answered promptly and thoroughly! I was also impressed with his apprentice, maddy. Maddy is e.j.'s daughter. he hope that one day she would take over the company when the time comes. both were energetic, enthusiastic, kind, knowledgeable and thorough. who could ask for more??? I will add, however, that e.j. was a few sheckels more than some other contenders (not by much). BUT in the scheme of things, I would take e.j.'s company over any other for the above reasons....and I DID AND I AM SOO HAPPY !!! you will be pleased as well. now I have to find more projects for them!!!! read more

Got a referral to Reitz Heating and Air from a good friend and couldn't be happier. EJ was prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional. Service and pricing were both beyond exceptional and the repairs were far less significant than I feared. Thanks again EJ and Suzanne, you are the best! Would give 10 stars if I could. read more

I called EJ based on his good reviews in my area. I only needed a service call to check my AC operation and efficiency; it had been years since the last service. He came out and ran some tests. He took an hour to explain how the system works and the benefits of upgrading or switching to a split system. It was NOT the hard sell but simply GOOD INFORMATION. He did not charge me anything. He's honest, knowledgeable and I'll definitely call him when it's time to replace my system. Thanks EJ! read more

Five stars is not near enough, as EJ came out and checked out our heater and AC. Learned a lot, no upsell whatsoever. Simply the best.

EJ of Reitz Heating & Air, Inc. is the man. I've owned my Encinitas home for over 15 years and EJ is the only HVAC service tech that I've come across who's impressed me. EJ prides himself in troubleshooting problems that others run away from because the answer isn't obvious. His pricing is fair and he stays on he case until the job gets done. He's a good man who knows his stuff and I'm happy that I found him. I highly recommend EJ and Reitz Heating & Air, Inc. read more

EJ and Carlos know what they're doing! They're extremely professional, kind and honest people. Instead of coming in here and trying to convince us we needed a bunch of stuff we didn't, they helped us get to the bottom of our issue and took their time. They're extremely knowledgeable and explained everything to a level that we could understand. Thankfully our issue was an easy fix, but we would absolutely use them again and would highly recommend Reitz Heating and Air to everyone we know! Not only was it a wonderful and pleasant experience, but I think we made a couple of new friends. Support small business and these guys! read more

EJ came out to check our home heating system. He was friendly, communicative, and reliable. He advised that no servicing of the heaters was needed, which I appreciated as he was clearly not trying to upsell and was recommending what is best for the customer. read more

I had Reitz out yesterday for a bid on a new heat pump. He wanted to check out my existing unit before bidding for a new one. Pulled the capacitor and found it was defective. Installed a new one and it's now working fine. He said I've likely got a few more years of service left in this one so he didn't see the need to replace yet. He saved me thousands of dollars. Every other company that came out told me my system wasn't worth repairing and never even offered to check it. I highly recommend Reitz Heating and Air. read more

We used his service about two years ago, man what a difference! He did an outstanding job! We couldn't be happier. He is a friendly, HONEST and trustworthy contractor. Hire him above anyone. You will not be disappointed. Thanks EJ for all you do keep up the great work and look forward to having you as our ONLY A/C guy! read more

Choosing Reitz Heating and Air was the best decision I made for my home remodel. EJ, the owner, and Carlos did an amazing job. As with all home remodel projects, I always get multiple quotes - and I did that for my HVAC project too. I only had an original 1970's heater in my house and needed quite a bit of work done to get the house comfortable in an energy-efficient way. Since I have an add-on that didn't have existing ducting (or a path to add it), I needed both central air a separate unit. In the end, I ended up having Reitz install a slimline 4-ton central HVAC unit (takes up half the space of the standard HVAC), a mini-split unit for my add-on, a QuietCool all-house fan to replace my existing old/loud all-house fan, and a gable fan to cool the attic (replacing my inefficient/old gable fan). In addition, they moved the heater and blower from a closet on the first floor to the attic. Needless to say, this was a big job! I could not be happier with the end result. I couldn't get an apples-to-apples quote - even from the big guys, because none wanted to do all the work, especially moving the heater to the attic. The quotes from the competition were close to what EJ quoted and didn't include the mini spit, all-house fan, gable fan, or moving the heater to the attic. However, I don't just shop for who can do the job the cheapest, but who does it right. EJ knows his stuff and didn't cut any corners. He can talk to you about every last detail and answer all the questions you have. Communication was great, the job was done quickly, on time, and on budget. After seeing the work that EJ and Carlos did, at the cost they provide, I don't know why anybody would go anywhere else. They don't have the overhead of marketing, project managers, supervisors, etc. EJ keeps his team small and works on every job himself, so word of mouth is what keeps him running. Support a local business, save money, know that you got it done right and with integrity - you won't be disappointed. read more

I don't usually review on yelp but for this business I just had to. EJ came to my house and checked out what was wrong with my AC. Having our AC fixed was very important since I have a toddler and the heat is no joke. He was very knowledgeable and very nice guy. He knew what he as doing and was answering all of our questions. He got our AC going in less than 1 hour! Call him and you will not regret. Don't waste your money on other places. Thank you EJ and Suzanne!! read more

EJ did a fantastic job balancing my current AC system. I received two other bids and they wanted for me to spend thousands doing an entire new duct system. I told EJ that this was not feasible for me right now and he was able to apply a little elbow grease to the system and get it working in top shape again. Not only that but EJ was a nice guy and took the time to really explain to me everything that was going on with my system. 11/10 job and he will certainly get my business next time around! read more

We had the worst smell coming through our heating vents " dead rats". E.J. came out and and took a look at it. Gave us a great price and took care of it within the week. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He went the extra mile to maximize the efficiency of our unit and sanitize and freshen the new ducts. I would use him again in a heart beat. If you need a great hvac guy E.J. and Reitz is the call you need to make!!! read more

I had 4 companies come out to fix my AC. I had to go thru the Home Warranty and that was a disaster. Because they had no idea what they were doing and ... made it worse. Mixed refrigerants and told me I needed an new unit which would cost 6k. All of them told me that. I have a 1200sq ft house. I called EJ hoping he was available and he cam out right away. It took him an hour to fix what took 4 techs 2 weeks to damage. He also came out that night even though he was really really booked and charged me less that all 4 screw up techs charged and he helped me navigate the paperwork to have the warranty company reimburse me. That is huge! I love this company and would totally recommend before you here the words "you need a new unit". Run fast if another tech tells you that. Call EJ at Reitz. If you want to know more message me. read more

I called EJ Reitz on a very hot evening, and he came out early the next morning to take care of me. Because it was during a hot spell, no other company even returned by call until two days later. He was very pleasant and extremely fair with his rates. He repaired the problem within 30 minutes. I've had other HVAC companies rip me off in the past, but Mr. Reitz was very honest. I'd recommend him to anyone. read more

Called EJ based on rave reviews from neighbors on Next Door. Our A/C stopped working suddenly in the middle of a big heat wave. Left a message for EJ and he called back within a couple hours, gave a possible diagnosis, a quote, and said he'd stop by the next day between some other clients in the area. All other big HVAC companies were booked out for at least a week. EJ was prompt, polite, and spot on with the problem and the price. He also was very receptive to our COVID safety requests. Call EJ and you won't regret it. read more

EJ is fantastic. I had a problem late today (Saturday), with my air-conditioning. EJ returned my call and headed over the same day. He diagnosed the problem quickly and within a very short time had my unit up and running. I highly recommend EJ to anyone who has an air conditioning or heating problem. He is very reasonable, very professional and great! read more
