    $50 --half off.

I'm planning a hiking trip through Arizona and Utah, and what better place to check out some awesome gear than at REI?! Good news: they have absolutely everything you would want for anything outdoors. Bad news: it's going to be expensive. TRUTH: I could spend all my money here. I am a deal finder. I love telling people about the $10 shoes I find or the seven dollar dress. It's kind of my thing! I typically don't buy namebrand things, unless I really need it to hold up... And I've learned the hard way, that you splurge and buy good products when it comes to athletics and anything outdoors. I'm the gal who won't spend $40 on a dress (it HAS to be amazing) but will spend $140 on running shoes that won't cause my knees to hurt. ENTER REI. I'm new to this world--but if you are looking for good gear, go here. Spend the $30 to join the membership-- I've only been a member now for two weeks, but I've gotten 50% off hiking boots and several emails about items that are half off. Better yet: becoming a member gets you a year-long return policy, no questions asked. Currently, they have a deal going right now that you can join for $30 and then get a $30 gift card. It's a no-brainer! Instead of me going to the running store and buying my shoes, I am finding them at REI. I get points added to my membership that ends up giving me money back. I also cannot beat that year-long return policy! I do think you probably could get some gear elsewhere for a much cheaper price (hence the 4 stars), but if you're looking for something to last for awhile, wait for it to go on sale at REI: join the membership and then get some money back. I'm a FAN!!

REI sets a standard. I went in to find a shoe repair kit for a pair of Keen voyagers. I was reminded by a staff member of REI's return policy. They guarantee satisfaction for one year. I had forgotten and for some reason I thought shoes would be exempt. Nope! Took off the old pair (the side of the sole was separating) put on a spanking new pair and walked out (after a brief stop at the checkout counter)!! I had purchased them last spring used them all summer and most of the year as general yard shoes, walking, backpacking everyday shoes. So comfortable. Long story short REI rocks!! May be slightly more on some products but you cannot beat a total 1 year guarantee! Worth the extra bucks and not meaningless like those other "so called" warranties. Was going to shop around for a new pack and sleeping bag but looks like REI will get my pennies!

    They have everything... :)

Pros: great selection, knowledgeable workers, rental options, educational classes, bike shop Cons: can be pricey, temptation to buy everything This store is nirvana for active outdoorsy athletic type people. The workers out on the floor are friendly and helpful. I was looking for clothing and accessories for Tough Mudder and they helped me find a few necessary items (like quick drying underwear, ha ha). I did find that many items were priced more than I would expect and I chalk this up to the fact that it is the price you pay for having all this under one roof. Yeah, you can buy a lot of this stuff from amazon, or other places, but you can't always have the convenience and helpfulness of the REI workers. And if you need something right NOW then paying a little extra is not really a big deal. For some, renting equipment might be a great choice. At this store one can rent tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags/pads. This store also has a full service professional bike shop http://www.rei.com/stores/bikeshop.html where one can have their bike tuned-up. As Ron mentioned, the lifetime $20 membership fee is probably something that you'll want to add to your purchases. Not only does it give you heads up for promos, classes, and other special events as well as a 10% dividend check from your purchases; it essentially makes you a shareholder of the company, giving you a "say" in REI's business practices. For more info about all this, see: https://www.rei.com/membership/benefits/ REI also has occasional members-only coupons and "Garage Sales" where their merchandise is offered at steeply discounted rates. Check http://www.rei.com/stores/cincinnati.html#classesAndEvents for all events at this store. I'm glad to have REI here and hope that it can help spur people on to being more athletic and adventuresome. So whether you are geocaching, running, hiking, or cycling, REI will certainly have something you'll want/need/drool over.

The ski techs are clueless. Go somewhere else, support your local ski shops. Avoid the big box corporate attitude.

And I may go in there and just buy a bunch of other stuff! I had to call Thule's 800 number after multiple attempts to unlock my bike rack with no real assistance from the place I purchased it. The customer service representative on the phone with Thule gave me RRT's address and phone number. I called and Emily was doing her "bookwork" but she walked up front and handed the "master keys" to her sales help in the store. They seemed to be expecting me when I arrived and Dalton walked out to my car with me. As the customer service representative on the phone had told me, there is a ring of 100 keys and Dalton tried every one of the them. Luckily, we found it after almost 70 different keys but I was treated so well. They didn't have to help me, I didn't buy the Thule Bike Rack from them. But this will be the first place I go in the future! According to Dalton, they offer FREE installation! It's a nice store in Old Milford and it's apparently been there since 2010. I have been biking the trail for years and I promised Emily, no more Thule from anyone but Roads, Rivers and Trails! They ROCK!!!!!!!! They also have a lot of very attractive clothing and equipment. I will let you know after I go back to shop.

They have great clothing for outdoor activities, carrying the top brands like Barbour which is high quality and hard to find. The higher retail prices mentioned in other reviews has more to do with the higher quality of the brands carried, their prices are in line with other small retailers for the same brands. The brands they carry will last a long time, so one pays more upfront but does not need to replace the item again, saving money over time. Single purchase is also a very sustainable friendly way to shop. But onto a review of the store, it isn't a place where you'll find fancy displays or wasted floor space but it certainly a place where you can find what you're looking for when you need things fishing, shooting or other outdoor recreation. They have hand tied flies, other flies, some other fishing products and they can help with learning. They carry high quality foot ware, outerwear, clothing (men's and women's) plus nice accessories. The shop is located on the Main Street in Hyde Park Square and is a great place for guys to hang out while your SO shops all over the Square. We enjoyed our first visit and will absolutely be back again.

We are constantly threatened by a series of potential disasters, both natural and man-made. For someone new to being a Survivalist building your first Bug Out Bag can seem like a big task. Everybody you read about has been tweaking theirs for months or even years and has a pile of gear built up. The military load bearing system is set up in a 3 day (web gear), 5-7 day (rucksack), and a 14 day (duffle bag/footlocker). It's hard to know where to start, but if you cover all of the basics in a survival situation you will still be much better off than 99% of the people. A Bug Out Bag, (also called a BOB, Get Out of Dodge Bag, GOOD, or 72 Hour Bag) is usually designed to get you out of an emergency situation and allow you to survive self-contained for up to 3 days. A lot of people plan their Bug Out Bag to sustain them for much longer than that, but there is always a limit to what you can carry on your back and a 3 day target is a good place to start. I like how Preppers Edge has developed a complete line of Bug Out Bags that range from short or long term needs. Taking the guess work out of what to pack is of vital importance to me. I've spent countless hours of research on the web and have concluded that Preppers Edge offers the most comprehensive and well assembled bags money can buy. I have a lot of their clothing, backpacks, and accessories. Before, I was assured that the quality is so good that they'll stand behind it. Now that they're not, the quality must be causing them too many problems to keep up with that assurance. Third picture is the size of pants compared to fresh order made a month ago. I haven't added on in size which would be a meaningful denial as well. He just kept repeating the same thing like one of my toddlers. Just doing what he's told is my guess.
