What isn't to like?! Food trucks, local goods, art, live music, and a lovely park! I apparently happened to be here during Art on Vine as well, which effectively doubled the size of the event. Things that weren't great: -The City Flea is in Washington Park. THIS IS NOT WHERE THE YELP ADDRESS TAKES YOU. -Yelp makes it look like I happens every weekend, but I have been told that it is actually once a month. I lucked out, it seems! -You need drink tickets to get a beverage of *any* kind at the bars/drink vendors that are not food trucks. They are sold in $5 increments. This made getting a single soda frustrating. Still, despite the annoyances, overall it seems like a great event!

Along with the regular flea (which has quadrupled in size) is a children's market. The weather is perfect today for both the market and water features. Many food trucks here today too.

Not sure why it's taken my so long to check out the City Flea in Washington Park but I finally got around to it last weekend. This flea was awesome. It's called a flea but it's really more of an arts/crafts/food fest. There are food trucks all over this flea, a lot of which I recognized and really wanted to try, but alas we had just had a huge breakfast so maybe next time. The vendors that were there had some really cool and interesting stuff. I picked up a shirt from one of the many shirt vendors. They were surprisingly pretty cheap. There is also a whole section with crafts and games for kids, and also a bunch of vendors there selling stuff made by the kids. We picked up a really cute tea cup candle..it was just adorable and really inexpensive. We walked around for a while, the atmosphere here makes you want to just stroll around and check everything out. Also, Findlay Market is only a couple blocks away, so you can really make a nice late morning early afternoon out of all of it.

I can't wait until next month's City Flea so I can participate more in it! I only had time to do "window" shopping before I left for Bike + Dine, but I took a ton of business cards so I know what to get next time! Hand-spun yarn, up-cycled tee shirts, food food food... I want it all. The setting and locale couldn't be better: in front of the Cincinnatus mural on Central and Vine. A+ location! It felt close-knit and intimate without being chaotic and stuffy. The weather held up just perfectly for City Flea #1 - I'll be back for #2!

On the third Saturday of each month, City Flea sets up shop in Washington Park. Dozens of vendors line the event lawn in tents, with food trucks parked along the street, live music and street performers. It's like a giant Etsy store outdoors (and we all know us Etsy addicts could benefit from some sunlight.) My favorite thing about City Flea is running into friends. It's like the Cheers of street fairs. You'll see your friends that biked from Downtown, pals that drove in from the suburbs, folks having family picnics, or even your favorite local bartender taking in the event. Included are a hefty variety of shops, from vintage clothing, to pop art coasters, gourmet chocolates, kitschy jewelry, repurposed decor, and much, much more. Some of my favorite vendors include: - Lily In Flux - The Lovely Teaspoon - Sadistic Mistress - Chocolats Latour - Riff Raff Initiative - VintageLiz - Streetpops - Coffee Emporium and their "blend while biking" coffee drinks. (My drink is also $1.00 cheaper than if I get it at the flagship store!) While most stores have gotten savvy to accepting credit cards, it's always smart to bring plenty of cash, especially smaller bills. City Flea is an all-day event, so you won't run into swarms of people. The most common time to visit is around 1:00pm, however the best items, of course, are out for sale at 10:00am.

But lately, it's been quite the gouge. Drinking glasses for 2.50 a piece, solo candle sticks for $1, junk pics for basic 8x10 frames $25. I grabbed a crochet blanket, that they called an antique and one of the workers kept it and said they had already called dibs on it. It was very unprofessional and I thought wow, you have the ability to volunteer somewhere on Thursday morning and here you are grabbing blankets from thrift store shoppers. I think the big problem is that the folks there are old. They are pit of touch w what things costs and what people are paying. Let's face it, boomers r out of touch when it comes to anything that costs money on young families. You're running a thrift store, not an antique market. I would've given it 3 stars but I'm not doing that to the kids bc of big headed boomers. My rating is purely that they keep it organized. United Christian thrift down the street in elsmere has stayed tactful, one of the few left. I'm going there for now on. I even know the lady that runs dcch, they have the right intentions but lack the depth of reality in today's economy.

There is so much to see! Many of the vendors have upped their game and will showcase their items in a well designed area meant to draw you in! You will find many original up cycled pieces that are not necessarily antiques but are one of a kind. Trust me when I say, no matter what your looking for, or even what you thought you didn't need but had to have, you will find it here! It may take you all day to dig through everything, but you will probably leave with some small trinket or a big massive wardrobe from the early 1900's! After you spend the day treasure hunting there are plenty of great places to take a break and reload right on site! My favorite is the wood fired pizza truck! There is also Marty's Waffle truck (sinful but yummy). If neither of these do it for you there are a few other places that offer BBQ, hot dogs and brats, breakfast sandwiches, and kettle corn. When the wind is blowing the whole place smells like food, you won't be able to resist! Like all shows, this one has seen a definite decline. I arrived early, I highly recommend this to beat the crowds. Parking was easy and straightforward. The staff friendlty and helpful. Variety was decent with a mix of some antiques, collectibles and some junk. If you are looking for furniture or other larger items, skip this show. There is far less furniture now than in years past. Very heavy on glass and china. Thin on unique items. Prices variable but dealers seemed flexible.
