Everyone we encountered from attendees to vendors were all friendly and laid back. There were plenty of cool flea market clothing finds but we were mostly attracted to the art, much of which had Cincinnati themes. Our daughter and her boyfriend just moved into a new place, and they got a few pieces of unique art, including a Findlay Market painting, to hang on their walls. Washington Park was well maintained and clean. There were lots of park benches and the shade from the big trees added to the ambiance. The flea market was a great way to spend an hour or so.

But my experience is that it's over-rated and misnamed. It's really a long string of flea markets. Most of the stops are either higher-priced items, specialty collector items, or picked-over items (you can get all the cheap glassware and worn-out pots you want here). I prefer real yard sales, where you can obtain good quality items, are dealing with the original owner, and are paying original prices, not ones marked up by each hand it's gone through. And the goal of the seller isn't to make a big profit -- it's to get rid of items and have relaxed conversations with their neighbors --- that's the real spirit of yard sales.

It was very unprofessional and I thought wow, you have the ability to volunteer somewhere on Thursday morning and here you are grabbing blankets from thrift store shoppers. I think the big problem is that the folks there are old. They are pit of touch w what things costs and what people are paying. Let's face it, boomers r out of touch when it comes to anything that costs money on young families. You're running a thrift store, not an antique market.
