I was looking for a pack for multi day trips. The Cary location is larger than the North Hills location. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I had it narrowed down to 3 packs. And Andrew ( the person assisting me) was a wealth of knowledge. He filled the pack to about 20 pounds and I tried it on and walked around the store to get a feel for comfort and fit. He did this for all three packs I was considering. I was starting to feel bad for what seemed like I was monopolizing his time. I did end up buying one there. A great experience at REI and will continue to shop there in the future. They do have online store and curbside pick up, but I prefer to get the product in my hand before making a large investment purchase like some of the gear is. Happy trails!!!!!

I really love REI, except for their high prices on some items. One thing I love about them is the great customer service, and their 100% guarantee on things. They tell you, buy it, take it home, try it out, if you don't like it, bring it back. I mean they really stand behind everything they sell. No need to buy any extended warranty or anything because they want you to be happy with what you buy for life.

    Checking out.

I'm looking to update my The North Face coat & was sad to see they no longer have "puffy" coats. Everything is all about compression - they're biting off Patagonia, HARD! The employee however did try to find me something on the floor. She was very sweet & empathetic to my issue. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything, but her customer service was top notch. Very organized store, but a pricey brand.

He played quietly with them by taking the plastic packages off the hooks and putting them back on. He was attended by myself or my husband at all times. I'm giving this review two stars because the man who helped us with the backpacks was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. However, our visit took a turn for the worst when an assistant manager rushed over, saying my son wasn't allowed to play with those items. Keep in mind, there is nothing breakable about them nor was my son in anyone's way or making noise. I informed the man that I would pick them up, but he proceeded to reach over my son and put them all away in a huff, repeating that he wasn't allowed to touch them and would be in the way if someone wanted to buy them. My husband walked over with his chosen backpack and we decided not to purchase due to the assistant manager's rude and impatient attitude. I completely understand and support establishments that choose to not have children as customers, whether it is a restaurant, theater, or store. As far as I know, the North Face store doesn't have such a rule. Please educate your employees on their attitudes toward children if they are in fact allowed in your store. There is a time and a place to call a parent/child out on bad behavior, whether it is a child not being watched or running recklessly through the store, disturbing other customers. This was not one of those times.
