It really depends on what you're looking for when you come, but I have managed to find ammo and some other things for a good price when on sale. Otherwise it's expensive. The service there was pretty decent and the staff were nice /helpful. My favorite part about the shop is just the fact that they put so much energy into how it looks. There are scenes everywhere with taxidermy and replicas. Geese and ducks "flying" (hanging) near the ceiling. And they do have a large fish tank there with live fish. "Manager" Roger is a complete tool! I was #15 in a line of 16 patrons trying to check out at 4:00 on a Friday. There was only ONE cashier. I asked the greeter (drowsy guy in beige and white) if he could call a manager to get some more cashiers. About 5 mins later Roger waddles up and is all confrontational, "Did you need something?" I said, "Yes, wanted to let y'all know we're over a dozen deep in line here." "We're working on it," barks Roger with a condescending tone. Then does an about face. To their credit and being fair, they did get another two cashiers a while later. But why the attitude, why the aggressiveness? I was just trying to spend my money in this establishment and I get bad-vibed? I love Bass Pro, but today's experience really drives home the fact that a good shopping experience is about a lot more than price and selection. I went in there yesterday just looking at the firearms. They employees were all grouped up talking on the other side acting like they didn't see me standing at the counter. Finally an older gentleman came up to the counter and one guy quickly walked over there and said " Did you need some help today, sir!" He replied no I'm just looking . Then the employee walks a few feet over to me and says, with a completely different tone, can I help you. As if I was I inconveniencing him.. I really don't want to make it seem like a racial thing. The following is a description of my experience buying a rifle at Bass Pro in Cary, NC. My experience was horrible, and I will never shop at this store again. Day 1: I went to the Bass Pro on 801 Bass Pro Lane in Cary, NC to purchase a Ruger American Gen 2 in .308. Before I purchased the gun, I asked the man at the counter, "What if it does not work properly?" and he answered me, "It's going to work." He then proceeded to assure me that in the off-chance that I have a problem, I can bring the gun back and they will send it to the manufacturer (in this case Ruger) for repair, free of charge (that was a lie). A month or so later, I took the rifle to the range to sight it in. The rifle fired fine. However, the spent casing failed to extract when I cycled the bolt. The casing was lodged so tightly in the barrel that I could not get it out. Day 2: A few days later, I returned to Bass pro with my rifle. (Note: The spent casing was still lodged in the barrel. I was unable to get it out.). I went inside, first without my rifle to speak to the employees at the firearm counter. Once inside, I told them what had happened and how a spent casing was stuck in the barrel. They told me to return to my car and bring the rifle into the store. I proceeded to do this. However, once I brought the rifle into the store, I was refused service and told to leave the store due to having a loaded firearm...even though the firearm was not loaded. It was simply jammed with a spent casing. I was told that in order for them to ship my rifle back to Ruger, I would first need to clear the jam. So, I returned home. Note, that at this point I was very angry because I felt humiliated for having followed the directions of the store staff. I DID NOT bring a loaded gun into the store. They knew this. They even examined the gun and confirmed that the casing that was lodged in the barrel had already been fired. However, they still ordered me to leave and refused me service. Either they have no idea how firearms actually work, or they are simply lazy and did not want to deal with me. The following day, I cleared the jam from my rifle. I tried using a plastic cleaning rod, but the casing was stuck too tightly and my cleaning rod broke. So, I had to go to a different store (not Bass Pro) and purchase a metal cleaning rod. I was able to clear the spent casing with this. Day 3: I returned to Bass pro for the third time with my rifle. At this point, I had been able to clear the jam. I brought it to the firearms counter in the back, and after waiting in line, they told me that they would get it shipped to Ruger and that it would be repaired, free of charge. They also collected my email and phone number and assured me that they would be in touch with me throughout the process. I waited a few weeks, and I heard NOTHING from the employees at Bass Pro. So, after work one evening, I stopped by the store to check the status of my rifle. When I got to the firearm counter, I could tell that no one wanted to talk to me. However, I waited in line for my turn. When my turn came, the employee behind the counter told me that they had forgotten to ship my rifle...even though it had been THREE WEEKS. They apologized and told me that they were sorry and that they would get it shipped tomorrow. I was very angry at this point, but I agreed and said that that was fine...that was a mistake. He also reiterated once again that he would be in touch with me via email and phone to keep me updated on the status of my rifle. That was another lie. He never reached out Day 4: This is the final day of my horrible experience at Bass Pro in Cary, NC. After waiting about FIVE MORE WEEKS and having heard NOTHING BUT CRICKETS from the employees at Bass Pro, I returned to the store to check on the status of my rifle. I walked to the firearms section, and when I made eye contact with the man that I had previously spoken with on my last visit, he said to me "Oh sh*t, I forgot to mail your rifle." I then told him to just give me the rifle and that I would be taking my business elsewhere. He walked to the back of the store and returned about 10 minutes later with my rifle in a box. At this point I left the store, and I have not been back since. Today I contacted Ruger directly. That is what reminded me of this whole insane ordeal and what prompted me to write this review. Hopefully Ruger will stand behind their product. Bass Pro Shops certainly did not. Conclusion: Normally I would not go out of my way to write a review like this. In fact, I have never written a review in my life...much less a negative one. However, I gave this store $650.00 of my hard earned money. In return, they wasted hours of my time, failed to honor their word MULTIPLE TIMES, and treated me like a piece of trash. I will never be shopping here again, and I will also be posting this review on Tripadvisor. I will take it down if I am reimbursed in some way for the way that I was treated. Thank you. read more

Went in to buy a scope and rings for 22 I'm giving my grandson for Christmas. Got in the electronic que and an hour and a half later my name was called. This was about 3:30. already knew what I wanted. The employee confirmed they had it in stock. We picked out some rings. The selection process took about 10 minutes. I told them I wanted the scope mounted and boresighted. The gun was in the trunk annd I told them I would go get it. After all this I was informed they didn't have anybody that could do the work that day. And I couldn't leave the gun with them overnight so they could do the work the next day. By this time I was furious. What a waste of my time. I walked out. This is the second very bad experience with this chain. What they don't know is i had been looking at a particular bolt action. They had one in the right caliber. I was going to buy a $1400 gun and $700 or $800 scope as well. Not from them. read more

The place has a solid selection of gear, from rods and reels to tackle and accessories. They carry a good mix of brands, and the staff is pretty knowledgeable and willing to help. My only gripe is that some of the pricing can be a little higher compared to other spots, but overall, it's still a great place to pick up what you need for your next trip. I've come here a number of times for a variety of things, targets, ammunition, reloading supplies etc. This latest trip was to trade in a firearm for a better quality firearm. One should not expect to get retail for their trade, and it takes a while for management to do their research on the piece I'm trading in - as it should be. The process went smoothly and I left feeling pretty happy about the transaction. Management gave me some tips on how to legally sell a firearm to get a price closer to the retail value. It's always a fun experience. They have so much stuff here. I could just walk around with my 4 yo and be happy. He loves the big fish tank. A lot of stuff is a bit pricy but other stuff a bargain. I stay away from their gun department because it's pretty expensive and they dont even have carry belts. They have a nice selection of clothes both men's and women's. I wish this was one of the locations that had a restaurant. I enjoy their holiday activities and free santa picture. You have to be willing to wait though. We got there 20mins after the store opens and had to wait 1.5 hours. When we left I heard people saying they were set to wait 3 hours. It is cool how you log in on a tablet and it gives you a time so you dont have to physically wait in line all that time. I went to Cabelas in Garner last year and it was a little better set up with more activities and not much wait. read more

I was passing through and decided to check out this Bass Pro Shop in Cary. As with others I have been to (Concord NC, Dania FL, Hampton VA and Hanover MC), the store is massive. High, vaulted ceilings and wide aisles with merchandise neatly organized and well placed on the fixtures. Different departments have their own sections with clear, well marked prices. I was drawn to the firearms section and I was pleased to see a decent selection of long guns and pistols for sale. Prices were reasonable though I did not spot too many bargains. Lots of accessories including targets, ammunition, cleaning kits, carry cases, gun safes and the like. Of course, the big tank of fish is neat to look at. The fish seem a little bored but when I was there, there were several kids enthralled by the fish. There was a very short line at the registers but they moved very quickly. If you are looking for free toddler entertainment Bass Pro Shops is the place to go! The fish tank is awesome and such a cool feature of the store. It's huge as are the fish that inhabit it. The layout of the store is expansive but easy to follow. They usually have a good sale or two if you are on the hunt for something just follow the sales. I also liked their kids clothing area, especially the clearance section. My son also loved walking around the pontoon boats which was an added bonus. The employees are always friendly and happy to help find anything you need. The parking lot is huge and you can't miss the store itself with the huge buck at the entrance. read more

First visit to this location, and had with me a friend that had never been to a Bass Pro Shops. While certainly a large store, it seemed smaller than the location in Concord NC. Plenty of merchandise - clothing, camping, fishing, hunting and more. Since i am not an outdoor sportsman, I am not familiar with what things associated with these activities cost, but as an outsider the prices seemed to be a bit high. I did take advantage of a special tee shirt for $5 and found a music CD for $4.97. Enjoyed the large aquarium and the nice display surrounding it. read more

Santa's here!! One of our favorite Christmas activity is to go get our family picture with Santa and walk around Bass pro shops. Last year we didn't get a spot, so I've been checking early this year, we were not in town, but we were glad to fin this store! This is smaller than our usual location back at home, but it wasn't bad. People were nice, the bathrooms were clean, and the picture with Santa experiencia was wonderful. This is a really sweet and nice Santa. Since there were not a lot people we took our time talking to Santa. We would go back if we're in town this time of the year. We found some treat and my husband found several things he needed and wanted. They didn't have any of the Christmas activities and games we've seen at other stores, don't know if it was because it's too early in the season, or because of the current health regulations, but the kids were looking forward to that and they didn't have the fund Christmas activities, but still, it was a great experience. read more

This was my first visit to the store. It's pretty cool, as long as you don't need any assistance. I was looking for mosquito repellent bands. They only had one on the shelf. I needed two. A couple of associates walked passed me and quickly kept walking when it was obvious I was about to ask them a question. I found an associate that guided me to the guy who was supposed to be my best bet to let me know if there were any more in stock. When I asked him if there were any others in stock, he simply said no and turned around. What! He couldn't be bothered with me and couldn't be bothered to walk the 3 feet to the computer system and check the inventory. Thankfully another associate heard my question and checked to see if there were any others in the store, and sure enough there were. The other associate was very helpful. But then it happened again! I went to checkout and the lady who was at one of the registers saw me coming and walked away from the register. I don't know if it was something about me that day, or the associates here really don't want to help anyone. This errand that should have taken 5 minutes, ended up taking 30. read more

Large store packed with merchandise. They are dog friendly so I enjoy walking my dogs around the store while I shop and letting them observe the fish tank. The employees are very welcoming and knowledgeable. We can typically find what we are looking for but if not, the employees are quick to assist us. We also visited for their Santa's Wonderland event. We mainly wanted a picture of us with our dogs and Santa. Unfortunately the pictures were not taken very well since several of us were either not looking (not counting our dogs) or one of us was cut out of the picture. After asking them to take it again, we ended up settling for a picture with one of us blocked by the Bass Pro logo. I am unsure if they were doing it on purpose or if they were inexperienced at taking pictures. However, this is not what I come to Bass Pro for so overall it is a great store for all of your fishing, hunting, and sporting goods needs! read more

Went to the customer service desk with some 12ib seaguar abrasx fishing line. Bass pros price on the Item was 29.99 found that academy sports online had the 15ib line in the same brand seaguar and the woman said they couldn't price match it. That's pathetic it's the same brand and kind of line. Clearly to say I drove over to academy sports and picked up the line for 20.99. I told the woman at customer service this is how you lose customers and she didn't even care and was super rude! This definitely made me lose respect for this place. Stopped in twice in three weeks. The first time I wanted to purchase a gun. There were two clerks working the firearms area, with about 10 customers waiting. I was told someone would be with me shortly. After 20 minutes I left and went to Gander Mountain, where I spent about $1,000 in firearms, ammo and gear. Tonight I returned, during a relatively busy second to last weekend before Christmas. Browsed for a while and went to check out. One clerk was working from about 8 registers and a line of about 20 customers waiting to pay. We waited about 5 minutes and nothing changed. We then looked over our roughly $200-300 worth of items we wanted to buy, shrugged, and put them on a nearby counter and walked out with nothing purchased. If this store wonders why sales aren't fantastic, it might be the fact that they don't have enough people working. But they do have turnstiles when you enter the store and a greeter. Seems like he would have been better placed working one of the registers. Won't be returning. read more

Went there 2 weeks ago looking to purchase a ATV. When I found they only had 5 floor models I asked to see the ones in the lot. The clerk informed me that she had forgotten her keys at home therefore, I'd have to come back the following day. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I then asked her if she was the only one working in the entire store who was able to open the lot. She told me all of the managers could. I had to literally tell the woman to call her manager to open it. Fast forward 30 minutes and I finally find the ATV that I'd like to test ride. This same lady informs me that it won't start because she forgot to charge the battery so I'd need to come back tomorrow. So now I'm fuming but conceited that I'd have to return the following day. The woman was courteous enough to walk me out of the store but then tried to sell me a ATV that would start. I told her I was interested only in the camoflauge color and not the red. She mumbled under breath and to me it sounded like "it's only a damn color". Lastly, right before I walked towards my truck to leave she handed me her card and asked me to give her a call at 3pm that same afternoon to remind her to charge the battery on the ATV. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing my ATV there. Now, I come back a week later looking for a gps for hunting. I find one I'm very interested in along with a brochure on new features that are available for all gps systems. I asked the man behind the counter If he would please explain these features and would it work on the gps I was getting ready to purchase. The response was "I don't know anything about it, management just throws brochures at us with no details". I immediately gave him back the gps and walked out the door. I don't know how to review bass pro shops. We primarily went there to get Santa pictures. It was very well organized and we were able to see Santa right away. The store itself is very organized. My son enjoyed looking at the fish. The prices are comparable to other stores. You can pretty much find everything that you want here. I took off one star due to the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I was disappointed, especially because the store was extremely clean. The bathrooms look like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. This is especially relevant, when you have to change a dirty diaper. read more

We bought an Ascend canoe and trolling motor for my dad's 80th birthday because he has always enjoyed canoeing and he wanted to get back out on the water. Kyle in camping, Joe in Marine Accessories, and Tony at Customer Service were all friendly and helpful and got us fully set up. My dad had a great birthday surprise, and we've already been out on Lake Jordan and the Haw River. 4 generations playing together in the water was a memorable experience. I came to this store for an event that had been advertised here on yelp. Ladies Night Out which was an introductory class for women to hunting, archery and fishing. When I walked into this store I felt like I was walking into an amusement park - wow! I was directed to the back for the class but wanted badly to stop and look everywhere. After the wonderful class (which will be ongoing), I went over to the guns and talked to a very informative gentleman who advised me on what gun I might want for my current, very beginner needs. Love that they are wanting to get women more involved in these sports! I will be back and hopefully I will have more time to shop! read more

First the job they do setting up the area for Santa was just amazing, craft area, model train, and Santa who was amazing... Plus you get a free photo... Kudos to bass pro shop, we told everyone about this place. Just to kill some time we walked around the store and they have everything an outdoors person would want... Fishing, hunting, etc.. i could literally spend the whole day here. there's so much fun stuff to look at! my husband and i went here today to primarily look at guns. we were lucky enough to have larry assist us. he was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. this was our first time purchasing a gun, and he helped make an experience that i thought would be intimidating and nerve wracking, into a very educational and somewhat enjoyable experience. i was worried i would be treated a little differently as a female with little knowledge of guns, but that wasn't the case AT ALL. larry provided us with plenty of information and thoughtfully answered all of our questions. i'm very appreciative of the help we received and feel very confident with our purchase. as far as the rest of the store goes, everything is well laid out and very organized. they have so much stuff to look at, from boats and ATV's, to birdfeeders and candy. there's something there for everyone. can't wait to go back and begin my christmas shopping! read more

BASS PRO SHOPS IS THE BEST STORE EVER!! This is not the best location of this store-there display isn't that impressive as the ones in the more tourist towns, but it's still Bass Pro. They have great selection of guns, poles, clothes, boats, atvs and any of the supplies and accessories these things need along with an amazing section of toys, gifts and food. The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. They have a funny catfish in the tank (it looks like it has lips).Anyway, the store is awesome especially at Christmas, I could spend hours here. Overall I would say it was a very poor experience. Went to service to see if I could get my boat maintenance for annual maintenance. Gave me a quote on labor but could not give me a quote on the price of oil for some reason. Either he didn't know how much oil my boat would take or he was too lazy to look it up. I've been a BP customer for years but not so much after my experience. It was Black Friday of 2016. I'm severely crippled from a motorcycle accident which is now 46 years ago. They had a handgun on sale I wanted on Black Friday. Their prices are outrageous but this was a fairly decent deal. I had went in a couple days before to talk to the store manager. He seemed nice enough and I explained my situation as if he couldn't plainly see. I had asked at the service desk to see the store manager so I guess that's who he was. I asked him if I could possibly buy this particular gun right then which was a couple days or so early ,or if he would set one aside for me or let me pay for it and pick it up after Black Friday. Oh we can't do that we need these for our customers on Black Friday. I guess I'm chopped liver or my money isn't any good. I traveled almost an hour each way to be told that. I was a bit perturbed to say the least. I got home and contacted the corporate office in Springfield MO and told of the uncaring treatment I received by their so called store manager. They were apologetic and I was told they'd look into it. All they did was contacted another of Cary Stores managers. He contacted me via email when they had my phone number like he was afraid to call. I replied back to him. I told him that I didn't feel that I'm asking for anything special that anybody else in my predicament wouldn't ask for. I explained I can't walk without a cane even a couple steps. I told him that there was no way I could stand in a line for a couple hours for the store to open not to mention getting trampled on. He said we'll give you one of those electric scooters to use. I can just see when the doors open getting trampled on by the customers trying to beat the crowd sitting on that thing. In total disgust I asked him to please stop all future Bass Pro mailings to me, to close out my BP club card. I'm sure you know how that worked out. I have no use for the Cary NC Bass Pro shops. I have been back a couple times only because the wife likes their clothes on clearance. If it was up to me I'd never step foot in the Cary BP Store again at least until they get new management. I hope they enjoyed all the money I have spent with Bass Pro over the years because they won't get anymore from me in this Lifetime. read more
