Clothes Mentor offers amazing, well priced clothing , accessories , and shoes. They offer great sales in addition to the already wonderfully priced merchandise. It's an upscale resale boutique. The energy is refreshing and staff are friendly and engaging. . Also as a seller I have had a great experience even though they are the only Clothes Mentor in the area buying women's clothing they make the buying process easy and efficient and seem to do their best to accommodate the many sellers that come to sell. read more

When I'm in the area, i enjoy coming to check out what new items are in the store. It is located in a shopping plaza in between a Wal-mart and a Big Lots. I have sold items here and have bought quite a few. Was disappointed a few times how little I got for what I sold, and was doubly disappointed at some of the prices of the clothes they sell. A little pricey for used clothes. They do frequently have items on sale to purge old season things and have a pretty awesome variety of clothes, jackets, athletic wear, shoes, handbags, and jewelry. They do not have a mens area. If you are looking for name-brand things at a slightly price, definitely check this place out. But buyer beware - they are usually careful what they buy from people, but do look at clothes carefully. I did buy a top that was damaged and noticed too late to do anything about it. read more

Visited my first Clothes Mentor today. I came to sell some things after going through my closet. I would have LOVED if they bought more but I was still happy with getting rid of some clothes, shoes and a handbag I didn't wear/use anyways. When they make you an offer on what they want to buy, they'll ask you if you want cash or store credit. The cash offer was $10 less than the store credit but I just took the cash. The employee I worked with was very friendly. I appreciated all her help! I would definitely recommend! read more

Neat place to buy and sell clothes. I arrived on a weekend morning to drop off a box of clothes to sell. One of the employees welcomed me and asked if I had sold there before. After replying that I had not, she clearly explained how it works and what clothes they are currently looking for. It was really helpful to know this information ahead of time. Since she had just finished a box, it only took about 20 minutes to assess the clothes I dropped off. I decided to leave and return a little later. When I returned, I was greeted right away and informed that they only found a few items to purchase. One I decided to keep and the others I sold (for ~$7). They do not offer much, even for designer clothing, however, I expected that going in. The entire process was quick and easy and the employee I interacted with was enthusiastic and friendly. I would return here again, but more likely to shop rather than sell clothes. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Call today 7/27 about selling items. Drive all the way from Durham, lady days stop buying at 7. Mind you it's 7:05pm. PLUS she did not mention it on the phone. She stated she couldn't help me and that the buying times are on there website. That is why I CALL TO GATHER INFORMATION. I use to frequent the clothes Mentor in Jacksonville, Fl. Prices there were much cheaper and the clothing quality, much nicer. I know it's a used clothing store, but my god there are so many dingy things on the rack. Saw a pair of shoes that I'm sure were cute at one time, but were so scuffed and worn that I wouldn't even think of buying them. On top of that, they were $22. Most of their stuff belongs at the goodwill and should be $5-$10 less than what they are priced at. The girls are nice, but I won't go back to this location. They should really be more selective on their purchases. These are not lightly used items. read more

Okay... This place is awesome. I am so bummed that I found out about it after I moved from across the street to downtown. haha I went to see if I could sell some clothes and they bought 5 or 6 things and paid me over $30 (way better than Goodwill) ;) THEN while waiting to see if they bought anything, I found an adorable dress for $8.00 (brand new with tags). Folks just don't need to be offended if they don't buy anything from you. Sometimes you just don't have what they're looking for - no worries! read more

This is located in the Wal-Mart/Big Lots shopping center off Glenwood. I went in a few weeks ago with a friend who was selling some clothes. This is an "upscale" women's consignment shop where they're looking for name-brand clothes that are like-new. I personally thought it was a little pricey for old clothes but I still enjoyed looking around and they have some nice things. If you're selling clothes they don't offer you too much, but if you are going to give them away anyways I'd say its worth it to bring them in! The employees that we dealt with behind the counter were very nice and helpful in explaining their process of picking clothes and what they're looking for. However, when we were checking out, one of the other girls was very rude to her fellow employees. While she was not speaking directly to me or my friend, I thought it was embarrassing and unprofessional that she would aggressively speak down to her co-workers, especially right in front of customers. If you're looking to find that insanely awesome sweater for the amazing price of $4.99 that you can't believe someone would just give away, this consignment shop is not for you. But if you're looking for some name-brand clothes at a lower price, I'd say it's worth it to stop in and check it out. read more

I do not normally leave reviews, however the way I was treat was less than indicative of service I have received in the past from other Clothes Mentor franchises. A Store Associate, by the name EsMarie or ElMarie ( not sure how to spell her name correctly) but I met with an aggressive tone when I arrived in store. I came in to sell for the first time at the Glenwood Ave Clothes Mentor , where my items were in trash bags, I was not aware of the policy of items needing to be in bins and on the door it says selling by appointment only. I immediately asked can I schedule an appointment she was like what are you selling ? I stated business casual wear she was like here's a bin I'll squeeze you and make an exception put your items here don't be offended if I don't take most of your items. ( Me taking off gaurd completely by her attitude and disposition) . I said thank you and I would not be offended this is my first time and I am seeing how things work at this location. She looks me up in the system didn't feel the need to explain the process since I've been to other location. I proceed to kill her with kindness ask for her name and not get upset by her demeanor told her I appreciate her squeezing me and for the bin. As I walked around the store I learn that lady just had a nasty attitude !!! Another customer tried something on and was going to put it back instead of hanging it on the rack for the the store associate to hang back and ElMarie was like no don't do that you are creating more work for us we have a system hang it on the rack the lady obviously taken back was like okay but can hear she was surprised at her tone and tenor !!! I say all this to say they this lady needs to learn better customer service etiquette because it is uncalled for to respond and welcome customers in the manner in which she did... I love Thrifting and Clothes Mentor however I will not be visiting the Glenwood Ave location again due to service. It is my hope they read this and address the issue and respond differently in the future. read more

This place is not what you think! They have way too many restrictions for selling your clothes. I walked in with about 8 pair of pants and got nothing for them due to the restrictions. They were very nice pants and partially new. I do not recommend this place nor will be back to shop. I will say that when I walked in they greeted me great but this store seems fake to me when supposedly giving you money on the spot for your clothes. read more

Everything is color coordinated, which helps if you're OCD like me ;) The staff is very friendly and helpful and I don't feel like I'm being 'stalked' or 'monitored' while I shop, like other Clothes Mentor's! read more

This isn't about the staff, they were very friendly and professional. The store was clean and organized. This is about the perception of what they take and pay versus the reality. I was skeptical about getting much and my instinct was spot on. You get peanuts for anything they do take. I couldn't even buy the material to make the item with what they paid per item. Granted you can pass on what they offer. Despite what the web says or more importantly when you call and they tell you they take ALL brands, my experience browsing the store and selling indicates otherwise. I saw no Dolce & Gabbana, DVF, Chloe, Christian Dior, etc. type of labels at all. I saw chain store brands and nothing from a boutique, mid-range, or higher-end label perspective. I knew right then they wouldn't be taking many or any of my non-chain store labels. Sure enough almost all were all in my "do not buy" bin. Wasted a lot of time preparing my items for nothing. Of course they'll couch everything they don't take in their buying policy. I'll be sticking with consignment and getting a better return for my previously loved items. read more

Hello, I just wanted to write about an experience I had at your store on Tuesday night, January 5. While I brought my clothes in around 6 o'clock I noticed a sign on the door that said they would stop buying around 6 and close early due to employee illness. I asked the worker (I didn't catch her name) if she could still take my things, and she said yes, I would be the last buy for the day, there is just one customer in front of me. I said great, I would just drop off my stuff and walk around. The customer in front of me (that had dropped off her stuff before me) was so astonishingly rude, but seemed to be a regular and the girl at the counter knew her. While this lady talked on her cell phone LOUDLY, went on and on with the girl checking her stuff, and kept asking the girl about trading clothes, I walked around the store for half an hour. The girl at the counter came up to me, reassured me she was starting my clothes now, and I said great, I had an appointment at 7. At this point the lady that had been in line before me was still there chatting and ANOTHER lady came in, even though it was past the sign's buying time, with several boxes of shoes, and joined in the conversation. At this point I had exhausted the store, so I sat on the cube outside the fitting room and watched- all three seemed familiar with each other and the employee began to go through the shoe boxes! She told the lady how much she would get for each shoe, which obviously was unprofessional and annoying since she had promised my things were next and I told her I had an appointment at 7. I went over to ask for my things back (since obviously I was never going to make it out on time) and she said she couldn't since she had already started going through them. She continued to help the other two ladies while I returned to my seat, and watched the entire interaction. Already thoroughly annoyed, she barely glanced at my things, told me all my brands- Alexander McQueen, Alexander want, rag and bone, and free people- were "too old" and offered me 7 dollars for a C wonder shirt that still had the tags on it for 138 dollars, and Stella and dot earrings new in the box. Rude! I just drove out of my way to sell and the website clearly says until 5:30 on Sunday. I was rudely told that the website says to come an hour earlier and it clearly does not. She insisted that her manager updated it. I walked out to look this up on my phone and then back in to prove to her that it does not. Typically I have a fairly good selling experience here, but I was left confused about the actual amount that they were offering. It was my orevioua understanding that the give back about half the amount they will sell it for. When I asked about a particular item their mark up was more than the half they quoted me. Just wondering if different buyers determine prices or payouts differently. read more

Holy moly what a great deal! The CM stamped merchandise was 50% off and I got so much awesome stuff for around $100! 4 dresses, a pair of jeans (brand new), and 5 shirts, two earrings, and a necklace. It was only $91! I also purchased a a very gently used coach cross body purse for my trip to Europe and it was $65. I am super impressed. Jamie was very helpful. They put all the clothes back for you and will hold items behind the counter if your arms get tired so definitely utilize the sales people for help. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I had an alarm tag that was left in one of my purchases and I had to drive all the way back. Jamie was super apologetic even though it wasn't her mistake! Great customer service all around. Go here to get some quality clothes for less than the mall! Make sure you have time to browse and if you find a flaw, haggle. That missing button might save you 10%. read more

I love this place! Recently I retired from the Army and was in need of professional work clothing, but since I needed a lot, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to afford all the staple items i wanted. But this store has high quality, often times designer, clothing at a great price. I've also found several very cute cocktail dresses here, not to mention the adorable accessories! I'm always greeted with a smile, and it amazes me how well the staff seems to know and remember their customers! just left the glennwood/townridge location . i waited while they checked in my items . i brought in over 25 pieces of lane bryant items , NEW , tags on . they accepted ONE DRESS . claims the items i brought in would not sell in their store . and the more disgusting thing is while i waited i looked at the items they had in the store for sale by lane bryant . the items were not HALF as decent as what i brought it . i am so disappointed with the way they advertise only to learn after today its just a bunch of crap . my visit to this store was the MOST AGRRAVATING experience i have had in a long time . my trip was a waste of my time and energy . i will NEVER bring items to this location again . read more
