I have been a Nordstrom customer for 30 years. In fact, my very first job back in the day was working the stockroom and as a salesperson for the Nordstrom in the Dallas, TX area. (Stores 720, 722, and 724). I had fantastic customer service from Janelle and Demetres in cosmetics. I highly recommend you seek them out to shop with them specifically when you visit the Durham, NC Nordstrom location. They are highly knowledgeable about cosmetics and men's grooming products. They can even help you continue shopping with them throughout the rest of the store so you're not wasting time looking for an associate or ringing up at the register. I always thought the closest Nordstrom to me was in Charlotte so this was a nice discovery! The store is extremely well organized and clean. Every employee I interacted with was extremely helpful and nice. I think we were asked if we needed help in every single section. I will say there's definitely a lot smaller of a selection compared to the Charlotte location. Specifically in jewelry and purses. The jewelry section was extremely lacking which was disappointing because that's what I went for. But I ended up getting a cute coach purse anyway! Even though it's smaller, it's still nice to shop & everyone was so nice. The surrounding area is also really cute with lots of stores and restaurants. read more

My wife loves Nordstrom and with this Nordstrom store only seven minutes away from our Chapel Hill home, she visits this particular location most often. This was the first Nordstrom store to open in North Carolina. It opened concurrently with The Streets at Southpoint, the shopping mall it's located within, on March 8, 2002. The Streets of Southpoint are conveniently-situated just off I-40 exit 276 on Fayetteville Road. My wife always has a running list in her head of things we need at home. For example, she noticed my bedroom slippers were worn out so she found me a new pair at this store. My new bedroom slippers are Nordstrom brand and they've been great. They're comfy and they keep my feet nice and warm, especially in the winter. Recently, my wife got a set of PJs for herself from here as well as new PJ shorts, Polo Ralph Lauren brand, for me. The shorts have become my favorite to sleep in. Our PJs are super soft. Other items my wife has purchased from this store include an orange sweater, turtleneck shirt, shampoo, eyeliner, and sunscreen. To save time, she usually browses online and then picks up in-store. Our wedding photographer and one of my wife's co-residents recently had babies. My wife came to this Nordstrom to browse for and buy baby gifts (e.g. little shirt, camera toy, animal farm shirt/shorts combo, onesie). Nordstrom took care of the gift-wrapping for free. The free gift-wrapping is one reason my wife loves shopping at Nordstrom. When shopping for baby gifts, my wife was tempted to buy toys for our first baby which hasn't even been conceived yet. There were these nigiri sushi plushies that she fell in love with. When we were at Southpoint browsing, she actually took me to this Nordstrom so I could see and hold a sushi plushie for myself. Other reasons my wife loves shopping at Nordstrom include good customer service, good quality, and a great return policy. You can return anything at any time, no questions asked, like Costco. We decided to park at the Nordstrom store and begin our shopping trip there. Upon entering the store we could see there was a big difference in this store compared to our Charlotte store. There is a lot less product in this store. The store is smaller but there is not a lot of merchandise. The displays and racks are very slim. We took a look around both floors and didn't see anything that we had to have. The store is clean and well organized. The only area sales associates asked to help us was in the lingerie section. Nordstrom is a beautiful store to find that special outfit, make a cosmetic or shoe purchase, or pick up a unique gift. I've bought special occasion dresses here and was impressed with the level of attention from associates, as well as the in-store tailoring. I've also purchased cosmetics and shoes and had pleasant experiences. Nordstrom carries higher-end brands, so my wallet won't let me shop here on regular basis, but it's fun when I want to splurge a little. The only negative is that I wish some of the departments were a bit larger. The coffee shop employees are also really friendly and the drinks are pretty tasty! read more

I was so impressed with your streets of south point (North Carolina) staff today! Everyone= incredibly professional and kind. Luxury experience for sure! What put it over the top: I asked for help finding Good American jeans to fit my post-partumn body. These pants fit but were made for pre-pregnant me. I nonchalantly asked the gal behind the closest register if she wouldn't mind helping me when she finished ringing up her current client. She not happily agreed but seamlessly had a stylist to assist me in what felt like seconds. The stylist ask a few questions and was able to pull exactly what I was looking for. My only issue today was I wanted to buy 5 pairs of jeans instead of 1. I ended up purchasing 2 pairs, a Good American and AG. This experience is what sets your brand apart. there are many reasons why i love nordstroms. Firstly, their return policy is amazing. practically life time no questions asked.. even on used items youre not satisfied with! I basically shop nordys for the shoes. For employees who work for commission they are very polite, they dont pressure you, and they're ok if you walk away from a pair you've been trying on. I bought a pair of boots here recently. A competing department store had them on sale for 25% off. When I asked about price match, the manager said she could adjust it as long as the deal was within 2 weeks of purchase! saved myself $90! not only that, they stretch and polish shoes for you for free. great service overall. read more

If you're looking for premium level Nordstrom merchandise, this is not the store. Nordstrom Southpoint is still a cut above its local department store competition, but it's more moderately priced and conservative than most of the chain's locations due to the demographics of the market, which tends to be less flashy and more price conscious than some cities. For the things I shop for, this is a great store. The men's shoes, fragrances and menswear are very well done. The women I know dig the cosmetics department and generally have nice things to say about the misses' sportswear and ladies' shoes department. There's even a really great bistro on the second floor. The service is good overall, but can be inconsistent. It depends on who you get to wait on you, but I've generally gotten great service with some occasional missteps. It's still better than the non-existent service in the rest of the mall's anchor stores. Overall I can recommend Nordstrom Southpoint, but advise to adjust your expectations. I really like Nordstrom. I've spent a lot of time in the stores, and a good amount of my business formal wardrobe is from there. I recently moved to the area and came into this store for the first time today. It wasn't a bad experience (still better than a Macy's), but I do feel like it doesn't live up to the experience of most Nordstrom locations. I bought an ~$400 pair of shoes and it felt like the salesman was just trying to get rid of me. I asked to try on a size 12, it was too big, so I asked for an 11 or 11.5 and he seemed very upset that I would make him go back to find another pair. I also wanted to buy a dress shirt and walked over to that location, but couldn't get anyone's attention. They had a big clearance section, but not a lot of other options. I guess it's off to Brooks Brothers for my future purchases. If they have shoes that fit I'll probably bring the shoes I bought here back to return them. read more

The level of merchandise here doesn't compare to what they have at the mothership on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, but for the Triangle this is top-tier. You can stock up on your Hugo Boss slacks, Canali shirts, Armani watches and all their designer accessory friends. They've recently started carrying Art of Shaving products and now I'm addicted to the sandalwood shaving cream. They also have a decent men's fragrance section and a really good line of house-brand polos for summer 2013. This place ain't cheap, duh, but this level of quality and service rarely is. If they're out of stock on anything, they can order it for you and have it shipped free. Plus, they can check you out on an iPhone, which is technologically/privacy a little scary, but too cool to resist. Can't comment on the women's selection, but I do have several female co-workers whose eyes glaze over while they go to their happy place whenever the shoe department here is mentioned. Oh, speaking of the shoe department, they have a miracle woman who does amazing shoe shines there for $2.50 (+tip). I usually drop off several pairs and leave them for a couple of hours and they come back looking brand-new and all nicely tissue-paper wrapped. It's a great price for a great service in this pricey fashion palace. read more

Ordered a package online. I live all the way in North Carolina and they somehow delivered the package to San Diego. They were willing to offer a refund but only after an investigation. What is there to investigate? The online chat determined that they screwed up, yet I still have to wait for my money back. I expect this kind of service from places like H&M but Nordstrom is supposed to be "high-end" Piss poor service. During the shooting on Black Friday, I was trying on a pair of sneakers when it happened. People came running in and screaming shooter. The salesman with me and everyone working there ran for their lives, leaving customers to make split second decisions on their own. My friend (also a college student) grabbed my arm and we bolted for the exit. How unprofessional since I read on Twitter that mall Chick Fil A employees helped guide their customers through the chaos and hide them. I left behind my bag, phone, wallet and the shoes I had on when I left my dorm for the mall. We run like crazy away from the mall and see a Hilton and make the decision to go in and book a hotel room because we didn't have the phone with us to get a Uber. Good thing my friend had her credit card in her pocket. Scariest thirty minutes of our lives, and the first shooting experience I ever had. We go back to the mall the next day (staying at the hotel overnight with almost nothing, too scared to leave our room) to collect my stuff and return the shoes. This terrible employee working at curbside pick up wouldn't accept the return and forced me to buy them. To make matters worse she showed no senses of politeness and was rude in every single way. I frequently shop at Nordstrom because of the great products, customer service and shopping experience. This Nordstrom is a far outlier. I came back to get a quick gift for a teacher and only 1 (she was delightful, working in the gifts department) employee out of the 10 I interacted with actually engaged with me in polite small talk. The rest acted like it was a waste of their energy to even talk to me. There are no other Nordstrom's near Duke University but I will be going elsewhere for gifts in the future. You need to improve employee culture. read more

My daughter and I went to Streets of Southpoint mall on Sunday 07/09/2023 to do some serious shopping for a destination wedding we're attending next month. We started at Nordstroms thinking we would surely find the many items of clothing, shoes, accessories, makeup, etc. for the many wedding related events we would be attending. What a shock when we walked into the store and found the MAJORITY of the departments closed off with yellow caution tape. It looked like a crime scene in there. At first we thought it was an issue in the shoe department where we entered the store but found the same thing upstairs in the women's clothing sections. We walked around several minutes wondering what the heck was going on when we finally found an employee. We asked her what was going on to which she replied it was in preparation for the big sale coming up July 11-16. "Today is the 9th, it's Sunday" I replied "we're shopping now." The sales lady said "you can look but you can't try anything on." "We need to try things on to buy" I said. "I'm sorry she said not today, come back on the 11th." We could not believe what she was telling us. "We're shopping today" I said again, "not on the 11th, we work during the week!" Needless to say we left immediately and went shopping in other stores in the mall with great success. As Julia Roberts said to the snotty saleswoman, in the movie 'Pretty Woman' who wouldn't wait on her... "Big mistake, BIG, HUGE!". A couple other stores benefited by hundreds of $$$$ because of Nordstrom's refusal to sell clothes two days before their sale. Nordstrom you're not Amazon! I purchased a pair of Gucci sneakers for my husband. After just getting back to work. I caught Covid and had to quarantine for 10 days in a hospital. So they delivered Nordstrom package through lasership. Which was sent to the wrong address. I notified Nordstrom they agreed to send me a full refund so I could repurchase my item over. I didn't want a refund. Just for them to resend my package. They claimed the did an investigation. After lasership admitted to delivering it to the wrong address. First with the amount of money the items cost they should require a signature at all times. So my package was stolen or sent to the wrong door. Nordstrom is insured. And I am out of $780. Which I went through Klarna to purchase since I just started back working To give me time to pay it off. But Nordstrom refuse to do anything and klarna wants me to 0ay for an item I didn't receive. Never purchase from either again. And make when you order from Nordstrom request a signature. I had problems with ordering from Amazon as well with lasership being the deliverycarrier. They always mess up on deliveries. So they would leave your package on the street instead of a neighbor. This just shows us as a customer's how much they care . I visited your store on Saturday, August 22nd and purchased the La Mer gel moisturizer. I had been searching for a new moisturizer and Kat Parke recommended this one to me. I was excited to get home and try it out, unwrapped it and to my disbelief the container was empty. I emailed Kat Parke immediately to inform her as she provided her business card at time of purchase. I also called the store to inform someone however due to the store being closed I was asked to call back the next day. I came into the store this afternoon to inform the beauty manager of what's happened. The assistant manager, Caroline, came over and said she needed to do some more investigating. She did not introduce herself or apologize for the incident at all. She said the product was not matching up to production. I had NO clue what that even means. She asked if the plastic I provided was the original packaging, I told her yes and provided the other plastic packaging as I'd kept it just Incase it was needed. She came back and said "I will do it this time for you but next time you need to check and make sure the product is not expired because it's from 2018". So let me get this straight. As a guest of your store, I am supposed to open a product I've just purchased while in the store to make sure it's not expired? She said "if you purchased it from here". I asked her if she were implying that I did not purchase it from there and she said she can see that I did because of the receipt and packaging. At no point did the manager apologize for the inconvenience instead she accused me of not checking the product before leaving. Why on earth would I check the product before leaving the store and why on earth would I ever think the product would be empty. The manager offered NO options at all. She simply refunded my money. How did she know I didn't just want the product I purchased? She didn't. Because she thought I was a criminal. As an African American woman I feel this incident was very racially profiled. Although I returned immediately with my receipt, packaging and notified Kat the same day, your assistant manager did not offer any form of empathy at all. She looked at me like a criminal the entire time. I have shopped at your store for years. I would hate for people to think your store is racist. To have these types of people working in your store where your client base has a variety of ethnicities is a shame! I work for the top producing real estate firm in the area making six figures and do not need to steal from your store and should not be made to feel like one. Caroline has an attitude problem and she clearly has a problem with black people and I will be on a road to expose her as long as she is serving black clients at your store. read more

After a less than satisfactory experience at Ulta, I entered the Nordstrom Southpoint cosmetic department and was immediately greeted by three salespeople who offered to help. Ralphie took the lead, listened to what I needed, looked at a photo of the niece I was buying for, and selected the perfect palette to complement her coloring and style. THEN he got a pen and paper and drew sample eyes with corresponding colors from her gift. Nordstrom never disappoints- but today's service was exceptional. I usually really love Nordstrom, but was really disappointed with my experience today in the beauty department. Just came by to grab a backup for my mac foundation. There're only 2 sales associates (SA), one are handling a customer and the other one just finished from a customer. There're two customers waiting, me and an Afro American. She was there first, so of course I gave her the chance to talk to the SA first. The SA then went to grab that customer's item. While she was doing that, came another customer, a white American. Surprisingly, the SA decided to serve her (even finding her the item that she's looking for). I was still there standing, waiting, and I was there first than the second customer! After finding the second customer's item, the SA grab the 1st customer's item and asked them to go to the cashier. Unfortunately, me, the customer who already waited almost as long as the 1st customer, and got screwed up in the unfair line, didn't feel it was ok! I wasn't served! I don't mind waiting IF the customers that the SA served came before me, but when the SA chose to served a customer who just came while letting me standing there waiting, IT IS NOT RIGHT! Don't judge a person by its cover! Even though I don't look like you, and only wear my lazy t-shirt, doesn't mean I don't have the right to be treated fairly! read more

Okay, I'm a big Nordy fan. I have their credit card, love eating at their bistro's or cafes and order lattes all of the time from their espresso bars. BUT the Nordy in North Carolina is like light years behind the one in California. Lemme explain. My bro on 12/24 bought a pair of sevens for $185. On 12/26 it was on sale for $123 during the Men's Half Yearly sale. But he didn't bring his receipt to do the price adjustment in North Carolina. So, today we went to the Nordy in San Francisco to do the price adjustment and they said that the pair of jeans are no longer sold in their store and has moved to the Rack and is only 49.97!! WTF!!???!!! Full price in North Carolina and 75% off and in the Rack in California? Come on Nordy buyers - do you really have to pick old styles for your store? I think you need to upscale the Nordy and add more high-end designers. read more

It's interesting to me that folks have rated this so low when I consider it one of the most enjoyable shopping experiences that I (regularly) participate in. While I agree that this isn't the largest Nordstrom I've ever been to, the selection in most sections is, IMHO, good quality and diverse. Also, the availability of a Nordstrom Rack across the street is top notch. What really makes me happy, though, is the quality of service. Though I'll admit, my salesgirl forgot to hand me my pants when I purchased them on Thursday and thus I ended up leaving the store without them, when I called her back, she personally drove the pants to my home and apologized profusely. It put a great smile on my face, and a great pair of trousers on my booty!! read more

They have consistently great staff with excellent customer service, great products to back up their name, and when they do have sales, they offer great pricing on their high end products as well. The have nearly everything you could hope for in their stores and if they don't have something in their store they'll offer to order it for you and ship it to the store or to your house. People tend to think it Nordstrom as super expensive, but they actually have a whole section of reasonably priced basics. Cardigans for $40, tank tops for $18, shirts for $30. I also recommend coming here if you've lost or gained weight and need a new bra. For the first time in my life, I finally have bras that fit me. And some sexy ones too! It didn't even take her that long to find the right fit for me. I think I tried on maybe one or two bras before she got it right. Interestingly enough, I saw a super useful post on tumblr with tips and tricks on bra fitting, and they were the same tips the bra fitter at this store shared with me!! They really know what they're doing here. Also, it doesn't hurt to get a Nordstrom card if you're in the market for a new credit card. Those points add up pretty quick, and you get cash back to use at the store. read more

I received an email recently detailing a shoe sale at Nordstroms. Looked online to see what they had to offer, and then went to the Nordstroms at Southpoint. I was specifically looking for Vans, and was surprised to find out that they did not carry them at the Store. Roger, a Sales Associate in the shoe department, was very helpful, measuring my feet, and helping me place an order online. I promptly received an email detailing my order, and within 2 days received my Vans. After trying them on, I was not convinced that they fit me properly. Back to the Store. Enter Roger into the story again. He patiently had me try them on, laced, and relaced, and then put inserts to figure out my fit. His service was above and beyond.-5 star service from Roger. He even used a shoe horn! Awarding the store 4 stars because of their limited inventory, but overall the experience was positive. read more

This location is a lot smaller than many but had some of the friendliest folks I've met in a while (a trip recently to the Philadelphia store wasn't so great). I stopped by shoes, dresses & lingerie and was impressed with how helpful the staff were. I didn't really notice a lack of labels, but I don't shop at Nordstrom for labels. I experienced the best customer service today at Nordstrom. I ordered a bridesmaid dress from nordstrom.com in two sizes because I wasn't sure which would fit better. I already loved, by the way, that it cost $0 to ship and that I had the option to either mail it back for free or return to a store. Since I live so close to Nordstrom, I opted for the mall. I had maybe taken five steps before a woman with a big smile asked if I needed help (I was carrying the big box the dresses came in). When I told her I needed to return an item, she said anyone could help me at any register. So I went to the first one, and the woman there was equally smiley and happy to help return the dress. This entire endeavor took less than 5 minutes. Returns with ease = yayyy. On the way out the door, a gentleman employee walking by said, "Hi," with a smile. Love the smiles from Nordstrom. I went to nordstrom in durham yesterday with a couple of friends for a shopping trip (we are from wilmington NC) we went to nordstrom first and walked around downstairs by the shoes and sunglasses. As we walked by the sunglasses we had an AMAZING girl named Alexis help us. She was the best sales associate i have ever met, so kind and helpful and just made the experience so much better than anything. Her spirit made you want to to keep looking around and buy things from her section. We went to a lot of shops all over the south point mall that day and no one was as helpful and nice like she was. We told her we would be back to buy some sunglasses if we didn't see anything we liked so we came back and bought them because she was just so amazing. My friend who bought the sunglasses said she probably wouldn't have bought them if she was not there to help us through such a big purchase. She made our shopping trip so much better and we kept talking about her throughout the day!! During this time of covid and low staff you don't meet people with such high energy and excellent customer service but she was definitely an awesome person to help us out. Pretty sure they could name their prices. The service here is incredible! I haven't shopped here a lot but every time I do I'm impressed. I went to buy a bra and underwear on the recommendation of a blogger. The sales lady brought me a bunch of different bras to try & eventually I went with a diff brand than what I came to get. The undies I came for didn't work either but got another pair I think I'll like. The salesperson was soooo attentive & helpful. I personally think it's worth the extra $$. read more

The worst shopping experience I ever had. Here are the key points: -I had to go out of my way on 2 occasions to pick up what I purchased the week prior. -They failed to do what they said they would do. -A saleslady put the blame on me. -I didn't have the outfit for the event originally intended for. -Management said sorry. I went here on a Friday night to get an outfit. The salesman told me they would be able to hem anything that night so I could take it home. I found an outfit and they re-nigged on their promise to do the alterations that night because it was Friday night and only an hour before they closed the store. They told me I could pick it up next Friday. The following Friday the alterations were still not done. The saleslady that day told me they wrote on my alterations receipt it would be available for pickup after 12. That was not on the receipt and I was never told such thing. I had to take 3 trips to the store just to purchase an outfit. It seems like they will tell you anything to make a sale. Although I have heard great things about Nordstroms, I closed my account with them and will never go there again. Will continue to shop at Neiman Marcus. read more

Usuall spend my time and money with this store so when it came time to get a tux for daughters wedding I thought I couldn't go wrong with them. Sadly, I've been proven wrong. Went to the store last week and tried some on for size. They didn't quite have my size so I asked them to bring one in from another store. Fast forward to today. I call to see if it's come in and am put on hold for literally 15 minutes. Finally some one comes on and I ask them to check if this tux has come in. Another 15 minutes goes by. Nothing. I hang up and call back asking for the gentleman who helped me last week. Put on hold again while he checks and then comes back on to tell me it'll be a while longer until they get it in. He offers to call me later this afternoon with an update and was ready to let me go when I inquired if he had or needed a number to reach me at. He didn't even have my information or know who I was. Disappointed to say the least. I'm off to another retailer to spend a couple grand. Nordstrom at Southpoint doesn't seem to need or want my continued business. read more

The only Nordstrom in the area. I love the whole store. The staff is friendly but they can be understaffed at times. If they don't have an item in the store, they can look for it in all of the other Nordstrom stores. If another store has it in stock they will ship it to you for free. I use to work here 2012......The End. Not Really!!! Hahahahaha! This store looks totally different! I love the new Visual Elements. As always the departments are perfection in my opinion (No Random Piles of Clothing). So the purpose of my visit. Lunch at the Cafe....I met up with my former Co-worker/Boss/And Good Friend....We had Lunch in the Cafe. Her daughter is so cute! She says "Mommy, can We have Nordstrom French Fries for Lunch today". Oh my goodness!!! What 4yr old child knows the difference between Nordstrom French Fries and Burger King. Freaking adorable. The Food. I started with a cup of Crab Bisque.....My Favorite!! I also ordered a side of the Goat Cheese Panini--which was OK literally, the fries however, AMAZING! I love the Aioli Sauce that comes with it....If I spelled (Aioli) correctly...I should've ordered the bread pudding, I swear it's been forever since I've had it. If you haven't visited the restaurant yet, you're missing out! I still haven't tried the breakfast...Which I think is available all day. The Flat Iron Steak Sandwich is a MUST try....so yummy. What can I say, I Love food :) Totally forgot to use my Nordy Debit...next time. read more
