This review is for TJMaxx as well as Marshall's (same company) as a company. I will no longer purchase from either TJMaxx or any of their affiliate stores, because when I had to return a pair of pants, they charged me $11.99 to return by mail. That is unethical, especially since the product was damaged! Even if there's something wrong on their end, you still need to pay the $11.99. They're making us pay for their inconvenience. I tried to leave feedback using chat, and you can't type text. You can only choose from their bot choices, so I'm forced to leave my complaint here. read more

I shop at this location fairly frequently. I went a few weeks ago and the cashier who was working was so great, I believe her name was Prosperity. I know working in retail during the holidays is extremely stressful, and I wish everyone I worked with was as nice and helpful as she was. I had some storage containers that didn't have a tag and she went above and beyond to find a fair price for me. I was worried I would be annoying and didn't want to be inconvenient but she was so friendly and helpful the whole time. I really appreciated her! read more

I was excited to see this was a runway store but it didn't have much runway to offer or anything regular to offer at that. Selection was lacking as I was looking for business wear as I was in town on business and got into the city late. Makes me appreciate my non runway store a lot better in Charlotte. read more

T.J.Maxx at Oakcreek Village is fantastic!!! The store has everything and anything you might need or didn't know you needed, from home yoga equipment to hats to fanny packs to earrings to kitchenware to shoes to bags to suitcases to dresses, etc. It is a clean and beautiful store with friendly staff. I have gotten many pairs of leggings and a fanny pack there! Almost every time I walk in I walk out having bought something - today it was a beautiful business top (even the cashier said it was pretty!). The staff are friendly and warm! They are always close by / around so you can easily find them and they can help you locate items. T.J.Maxx is always well-stocked and has a large variety of unique finds, so every store visit is like a treasure hunting experience. I also feel like I'm getting great deals and bargains when I shop there because they sell quality items that last me a long time and at great prices. T.J. Maxx is also located at a prime location at Oakcreek Village, which is a beautiful shopping / dining plaza with a mix of national retailers, contemporary brands, and distinctive shops and dining. James and Milissa both managers have no respect for Black customers and I know they don't like the Spanish customers but spend the most money but get treated very wrong we walked in the store they were at the front of the store they never spoke to us then we told them not being rude about they self and Milissa said she was in training and we said for what customer service?? The day after Christmas I took an accessible challenged young lady to the store. In this day in time, businesses are set up to assist persons to find what they are shopping. The customer service representatives in the different departments were very badly less than helpful with the exception of a Man that was trying to help.Looking around the store,I only saw one or two people and several customer service persons were gathered at around the cash register chatting about their Christmas experience. I asked for help several times because I was pushing the young lady and trying to reach higher shelves. The representative at the shoe department was quite rude. I was execrated very frustrated- finally left the store way before I intended- on top of everything- no one offered to hold the door open for us. I was really surprised and let down at this customer service. I don't see myself shopping in this store in the future- very sad - but true. read more

Okay, if you don't know the deal with TJ Maxx by now, where have you been? It's a mishmash of discontinued items from clothing to housewares to home decor. Think of it like a flea market. You might get lucky and find something you like or need for a good price, or you might leave disappointed. Last time I popped in they had greeters next to a sanitizing station, which is always a good site. I didn't find what I was looking for (selection for men is limited) but I know I can always come back and hunt. read more

This is not in a polished part of town. I've come here half a dozen times attempting to reestablish my opinion to something more positive. At a minimum, the clientele are particularly unmannered. The parking spots are too small for even mid-size SUVs. The Driving in the poorly maintained parking lot is ridiculous. The lot is poorly paved and has ALOT of trash. So grubby. The site might be more pleasant if you are immediately at opening. read more

It was one of the first TJ's I knew to get a "Runway" section. That is, designer items at discount prices. Designer ranges from the increasingly pedestrian Seven Jeans to high-end hopefuls like Nanette Lepore to real couture from Vera Wang. At stores like this, you know it's all about the hunt. Often, there's only a single piece of a coveted item, and it's in a football-player size. But every now and then, you'll find something at a price worth celebrating. Like my Vivienne Tam tank I got for $20 years ago, and still wear. There are also a few pieces I shouldn't have been fooled into: an Emilio Pucci dress and a plain Coach wallet that were both far overpriced from what they would have been online. So you have to really know your labels & past seasons, and thereby your bargains. Outside of Runway, I've had some luck with shoes (though DSW is much better), housewares (prefer Homegoods), and athletic-ware. Pretty tidily kept, and the new checkout system ensures efficiency (along with many extra tempting baubles to entice you on your way to the register). A $5 DVD of Tomb Raider? T.J.Maxx - Great Runway section at this TJ's - Department Stores Near Me - Durham, North Carolina

Holy home goods section, Batman! I could have stocked my entire house with this one store. Discounted discount frames? Check. Bottle openers? Check. Accent chairs, ottomans, wooden spoons, novelty mugs written in Comic Sans? Check, check, check, check! This is by far the largest home goods section I've ever seen in a TJ Maxx, and it doesn't detract from the rest of the store. The women's clothing and designer markdowns were still well-sized, and there were the usual gift sections and add-ons (chocolate, novelty wine bottle sleeves, etc). The employees weren't particularly friendly, but they were efficient. Note: this location isn't terribly easy to access--there's only one primary entrance to the strip mall. I believe the only way in is to follow Garrett up through the intersection. Be sure to map it before you go! read more

First of all: India, lol are you serious? Do you know what I find, "grubby"? Your grammar and word usage. TJ Maxx has customers, man; attorney T.J. Mitchell has "clientele". In regards to this location, I am not inclined to return. I get off work later in the evening, at around 8-8:30, which leaves me racing to get to the store to find whatever it is I need/want. The closing shift employees at this TJ Maxx location will, upon your walking in the door, begrudgingly give you the time. Even though you are clearly wearing a watch, and literally running into the store, it's fine. What is not fine, however, is: the employees popping up randomly while you are sifting through merchandise to remind you of the time. As an employee over the intercom gives the 15 minute warning, you can feel the intensity rise on the floor. For your last 15 minutes of much-needed you-time, you are painstakingly advised of the time. It is much like a space shuttle countdown, only with a resentful tone..closing in 10...9...8...7...it is so unnecessary and even more annoying. The employees were made aware of the store's hours of operation during the hiring process, and chose to take the job. Don't harass and rush customers out of the store, because you don't want to have to stay a minute after 9:00. It is so rude and unprofessional to say the least. I now go to Brier Creek, instead. The employees at that location understand the enigma that is, "OPEN". read more

It's small but has lots of goodies. It's located right next to a Once Upon a Child so I like to hit both when in the area. But this store has nasty looking & smelling bathrooms! With 2 small children & an infant that's a big negative. I want somewhere clean to change him. I couldn't get s pic bc my hands were full. Also some employees were nice but some were very rude, they would be walking towards you, didn't say anything, even "excuse me", and just expected to rudely squeeze by you or have you move. read more

I recently moved and didn't realize I was less than 10 minutes from TJ Maxx and I love TJ Maxx! When I pulled up, I was a little shocked? It's located in an odd shopping center and it looks a little sketchy.. BUT inside is just like any other TJ Maxx! Maybe not as nice... a little dirty too? Not the nicest or friendliest staff It's definitely not the best TJ Maxx I've been to. Regardless of what, they had what I came for which was workout clothes! They have a great selection for women but men not too much. I wish they had a little more. read more

I found myself in Durham looking for a shirt because I had unexpected plans for dinner and my shirt was dirty from working that day. I went to TJ Maxx because there is one very close to my house in Raleigh where I often find nice items at a great price. This TJ Maxx is NOTHING like the one near my house. It is dirty. Even just walking in, I got the sense that it was not as nice, or as cared about by its staff. Items are slung haphazardly on hangers, halfway falling off shelves, or straight up on the floor. The people that worked there seemed more interested in chatting with one another or texting on their cell phones than straightening up. Topping it off, I couldn't even find anything I wanted to buy, and I was in "anything remotely decent will do" mode. I know it's a Saturday, but the sizes were all mixed up and the racks were just really disheveled. I saw several items that had obvious makeup stains from being tried on by prior customers as well. I ended up leaving without making a purchase, and that is really disappointing. I guess you can't expect too much from a discount store whose purpose is to unload items that didn't sell when they were actually in style/seasonal, but comparing it directly to the exact same store in Raleigh, I honestly cannot give it more than the 2 stars "I've experienced better (in Raleigh)" rating. Jen and I like coming here for a bargain. It's almost therapeutic (not a good thing we know). The shop is located in the corner of the strip mall and has decent offerings for men, women and household goods for home. My personal favourite is the kitchenware section. I almost always get lost there. The best thing about this place is that you can find cheap brand-name items for a lot less. The slight down side is that the shop can be poorly organized in certain sections. read more

I normally love TJ Maxx. This one has the worst customer service of all TJ Maxx stores I've been to. The staff as a whole was grumpy, rude and did not want shoppers in the store. One employee, Quiana, was rude to me in the dressing room. Is it not customary for people to try on the clothes before they make a purchase? Once I went to the check out counter, Quiana was at the next available register. I decided maybe I was being sensitive previously so I asked how her day was going. She responded with *eye roll* "ugh.... I.... I... I don't know." While the items I bought were great and a wonderful price, it is safe to say I will go out of my way to not shop at this TJ Maxx again. Thankfully there are plenty of other discount clothing stores in the area so it will not be hard! read more

We often end up here when our car is in the shop as it's walking distance from many of the dealerships/car shops down the road and it's way more enjoyable than just sitting around in the waiting room gazing vapidly at your phone. This location is pretty well maintained and very well stocked (compared to some other TJs that seem like they are on the verge of going out of business). There are some really killer deals sprinkled throughout the store but you have to be patient and dig through the racks or shelves that are seem to be organized in a somewhat haphazard fashion. read more

I love shopping at TJ Maxx, but within 4 days of each other have had awful experiences here. I don't Yelp often, but being that the customer service here seems to be getting worse and worse over the last two years, I just want to share my experience. I purchased a Michael Khors vest here, wore it once and loved it. 2 days after purchasing this item, I used a stitch remover to open the pockets, when I did one side, it revealed a huge hole in the pocket that I was unable to see before. When I returned to try to exchange, the manager refused to do anything for me. He proceeded to roll his eyes at me when I asked for his first name and stated he didn't care if I never shopped at that store again. I have had multiple poor customer service experiences at this same location, but they all seem to be similar to what's already been shared by others previously. read more

I'm from Wilmington and have been here quite a few times. The employees are NOT NICE! One cashier didnt even hand me my back i had to reach over and get it but tonight is the reason I won't ever step foot in here again. I was waiting for a lady at the lipstick/gloss section to be done looking so I could look at the too faced glosses. I picked up am instyler but put it back after contemplating the price all while THE LADY AT THE JEWELRY COUNTER IS STARING AT ME HAND ON HER HIPS!!!! i went to the clothing I saw nothing and saw the lady at the lipsticks/glosses as done so I went back over. The lady at the jewelry counter must not liked how I looked or something because she brought over another employee stood around the other isle and said "I think she's stealing. They both then walked to my side and acted like they were doing something. I was appalled. Please if you think someone is stealing CHECK THE CAMERAS!!! If anything the lady who stood at the lipsticks for 20+mins would have seemed WAYYY more suspicious. I hope no one has to go through this! read more

It's also a bit run down, but other than that, it carries the usual items with those wonderful TJ prices we've grown to know and love. read more

This is the worst TJ Maxx store I've ever been to! As a cardholder, I obviously go to these stores quite a bit. They were selling literally a broken piece of wood for $6! Seriously?? 50 cents off the original price of a BROKEN picture frame. Now I'm at the "special event" for cardholders. The only thing they did was put a plate of food out and wouldn't even tell me about the giveaways! I found out after shopping in the store for almost an hour and it ended. Also, I had to ask over and over about the flipping gift wrap paper for members. Jeez. I hate this store. I never want to come here again. read more

I'm an atypical size (Petite XS) with expensive taste and generally don't have luck at TJ Maxx. However, this particular store is one of TJ Maxx's "Runway Stores," which means it carries designer clothes - and even occasional couture - at great prices. With help from a good tailor, I have had a lot of success here (most recently a $400 DVF dress for $99 + $28 tailoring). I never realized that there was a tiered system to TJ's, but now that I know, I'm a convert. read more

If I could give a zero for customer service, I absolutely would. While shopping, I inquired on a price of a cosmetic item to be told that the person from that department had gone for the day. I left the item with jewelry counter associate and asked her to find a price while I shopped around. As I was perusing through the clothing, I noticed nothing was sized appropriately in the racks. The sale handbags were not even separated properly. While shopping in the undergarments department, an employee, who spoke no English was unable to answer a simple question about a price. She smiled the entire time, but was unable to answer my question... Very frustrating! (I do not mind the she did not speak English, but she should be able to direct me to someone who could have helped) Upon returning to the jewelry counter to get the item I had left for the price check, there was no employee around to retrieve the item that was behind the counter. I had to ask two different associates to call someone to that department. Eventually the employee arrived whom I previously asked to do the price check. The item still had no price on it, so I took it to the counter to purchase. I asked for a manager, who I was told was unavailable, because she was in the middle of an interview. No assistant manager or lead associate was offered to speak to me. When the cashier left the counter to find a price for the cosmetic item, he returned telling me he could not find anything similar or of the same brand to sell that item to me. Funny thing is I did find other items by that same brand and several comprable cosmetic items that could have been used in exchange for the price. HORRIBLE AND DISFUNCTIONAL I bought several pair of pants that I found out later had the wrong tags on them...came in and spent $230.00 dollars on Monday, tried to exchange the clothing that needed another size on Tuesday and the cashier says the pants that still have the tags still on them are not ringing up! ????but they rung up lastnight when I had to pay for them...asst. manager comes and says its nothing that can be done???? Not only was she RUDE she has no concern that I was standing there with a receipt that clearly shows the amount of money I spent and the time I was in the store. Who's at fault? Not me the customer who is trying to understand how I can not exchange nor return and item that is not damaged, has the tag and the receipt is in hand. No help was given, no explaination...maybe coporate will handle this matter before I have to take it any further! Until then I will keep all the items with the all the tags attached with my complaint number until someone makes right with this! I will make sure my family and I will never shop at this store again, and I will make sure I tell everyone I know how this store operates and not to shop there. read more

I went to TJ Maxx, bought some athletic wear for my daughter, when we got home we discovered a hole in the pants. So, I took them back. What should have been a simple transaction (I had my receipt) turned into a 15 minute wait because the person behind the desk couldn't figure out how much to give me back for the refund. There were 3 people working behind the counter, it wasn't busy, they were talking amongst themselves about unrelated topics and I was forced to stand there for 15 minutes while the one girl helping me figured out how much money to give me back. I asked my daughter to go and find another pair of shorts like the ones we were returning, surprisingly, the salesperson didn't think to do that. I had to solve my own problem because the sales staff were too stupid to figure it out. I have never met a more incompetent group of people. Nobody acted like they wanted to help, what exactly do they get paid to do if it isn't to help customers. I was polite throughout the ordeal and waited patiently. I have shopped at TJ Maxx a few times over the years, every once in a while I'll go by and give it one more chance just in case things have improved. It has never been a good experience and there are other stores who at least ACT like they're happy to have my business instead of seeing me as an inconvenience. read more
