Absolutely horrible customer service at Walmart. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and acted like assisting customers was an inconvenience. I waited far too long for help, and when I finally got someone's attention, they were dismissive and provided no real solution. It's frustrating to spend your hard-earned money somewhere that clearly doesn't value its customers. A little kindness and professionalism go a long way -- and unfortunately, neither was shown during this visit. Very disappointing experience. read more

This is the Walmart at New Hope Commons, the shopping center just off 15-501 (Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd), near I-40 exit 270, in Durham. I came to this Walmart because I learned over the past year that Walmart is the only retailer that carries Suave Men 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner in large 40-ounce bottles with pumps. Amazon and Target do not carry the 40-ounce bottles, at least that I could find. I got my first 40-ounce bottle with pump at the South Main Walmart in High Point. It lasted me about a year, living part-time in North Carolina. I got my second bottle here. There are two kinds of 2-in-1, Ocean Charge and Alpine Fresh. My first bottle was Ocean Charge and my second bottle was Alpine Fresh. $4.98 for 40 ounces. What a great value. Also, I noticed Unilever (Suave parent company) changed the 40-ounce bottle design from wide to cylindrical from 2020 to 2021. I've used the 28-ounce bottles for years at my home in Georgia. My shower/tub setup there is different, so I prefer the 28-ounce bottles with snap-shut lids there. This was just my second trip to a Walmart since the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown of March 2020. I forgot how low Walmart's prices are. They're scary cheap. Walmart must squeeze every penny out of its suppliers. That said, the selection and quality of product at Walmart is generally not as good as brick-and-mortar competitors such as Target and Harris Teeter (for groceries). For example, this Walmart only had one flavor of Silk Almond Creamer (Caramel) while Harris Teeter typically offers three flavors (Sweet & Creamy and Vanilla in addition to Caramel). We picked up a bottle of the Silk Almond Creamer, Caramel flavor (32 ounces) for $3.98. This is about $1 cheaper than Harris Teeter, but I prefer the Sweet & Creamy flavor which Walmart did not carry. More examples of Walmart's low prices: We picked up a couple bags of Marketside (Walmart's house brand) salad for $2.68 each, an 8-pack of Diet Coke in 12-ounce plastic bottles (same size as cans) for $4.44, a Screamin' Sicilian Holy Pepperoni frozen pizza for $5.98, and a succulent potted plant for $5.00. We visited this Walmart around 4:30 PM on a Saturday. I was bracing myself for a zoo, but customer volume was surprisingly relatively light. It was a fairly relaxed, calm shopping experience. We ran into one of our old neighbors near the fridge with the creamers. We had to wait behind only one person, who wasn't buying much stuff, at checkout. The cashier was efficient and polite. Even the old couple behind us was outgoingly friendly. Did we just happen to luck out at the time of our visit? I did think it was interesting how this Walmart is located directly across from and shares the same storefront parking lot as a Best Buy. I had no issues finding a parking space nearby. I don't think Best Buy is as popular as it used to be. read more

This review is for curbside pickup only. I actually avoid coming to Walmart because I just don't like it. I might come to Walmart like once a year, if even that often lol. But Walmart does carry certain items that I can't find anywhere else. I checked in on the app to let them know I was on the way. I arrived at 2:10pm and entered my parking info on the app. By the way, the pickup spots are all the way to the left of the store beside the garden area. They had my order out in 2 minutes so I was very impressed with their speed, especially with it being the day before Christmas Eve. I may have to start doing more pickup orders now! read more

Each WalMart is the same as the last. I don't know if it's more crowded with merchandise or people with sad desperation in their eyes. A saving grace of most Super WalMarts used to be they never closed (though it could be a challenge to shop in the middle of the night with half the lights off and the aisles full of not-yet-restocked pallets). My son took his car in for 4 new tires. The inexperienced installer broke one of the tire pressure sensors when installing the tire. Two weeks later, they called to replace the sensor. The installer pointed out that the new tire had a bulge near the rim, and that the tire had to be replaced. The manager would not honor the new tire warranty and said that my son "must have hit a pothole". We bought another tire at a "Mr. Tire" store and the people there were very nice and replaced the tire quickly so my son could drive to work. It looked like the tire bead had been damaged when it was originally installed at Walmart. So much for quality service at Walmart. read more

Avoid this Walmart if at all possible until November. They are remodeling, the aisles are generally filled with merchandise, and even the store employees don't know where things are. An A-OK Walmart that had the stuff I needed and was easy to navigate. It's consistent with other Walmarts in that my cart made a racket and there were a few holes in the merchandise but it was, in general, well stocked. Walmart may have revitalized the store, but again they seem to be making it at the customer's expense. While they were under watch, the prices all came up correct, now that they seem to be no longer under watch, the prices are not what you see on the signs, I bought a bag of boneless chicken breast 4lbs. sign said $9.74, got to the register, it rang up higher at $11.16. They are back to asking the customers to take a picture to prove the price, so they do not have to do a price check. Is that what the customer is supposed to do? A customers experience in this store is not what it should be, I always seem to regret going in this store. Why are WE always paying for their inadequacies? Are they not a well sufficient business? Why do your customers like this? Walmart used to be fun to shop, now its dread. I have to find elsewhere to shop. read more

The auto center is one of the best. Benny is always 100% helpful and kind. I always get my oil changes done at Walmart. Front counter service is excellent. Brian Is also an excellent beyond above service kind manager. The mechanics are knowledgeable and kind. Every single employee has a smile on their face at this store and is willing to help anyone out whenever they can. They make me feel welcome upon entering. Their guests are a priority. My daughters wallet was stolen at a restaurant across the street, within 5 minutes they were at this Walmart thru the checkout line obtaining Visa gift cards by using her credit card(not debit or cash) in which I have been told this isn't store policy and bought 5 GC's for $999.88 each tried other cards they were declined all within 2 minutes of each other.. therefore someone working for Walmart at the self checkout line I think is in on this so called robbery and Corporate says email the store.. heard nothing back I have tried every Number and no one will answer!!! I started shopping here 3 years ago. They had at least 4 registers open with employees working them. Then they installed around 40 self checkouts and have almost nobody working registers except to make sure your not stealing. Recently they made all the self checkouts 15 items or less AND still employ almost no checkout staff. I have been there at busy hours 20 person lines at the 2 open registers where you can actually checkout...UNLESS that is, you went to your big box store to buy 15 ITEMS OR LESS. Infuriating. Either employ folks to work the registers or let us self checkout. The company literally installed self checkouts to cut jobs and then disabled their use to 80% of their customers. By the way, in case you havent been to the store in the past year, they actually bring the carts back inside now, so you don't have to roam around like a nomad in the parking lot looking for a cart anymore. That's a sign they are listening, now take it a step further. read more

I'm not sure that we will go back to Walmart anytime soon. With the pandemic and social distancing being of the utmost importance, I was disappointed that the store did not have any cleaning of the carts happening. Furthermore, there were no sanitizer wipes in the dispenser. I informed a supervisor and they were kind enough to bring me some sanitizer for our cart and said they were out of wipes at the door. Many of the staff had their masks hung inappropriately as well. I hope that management will take a renewed focus on their covid 19 response to help safeguard their clientele. read more

Worst customer service. Asked 5 different employees for help in a locked cosmetic case (which I never never seen these items locked in any other Walmart or other retailer). No employee knew who had the key, they only called over the intercom 1 of the 5 we asked. Waited 45 minutes, and still was not helped by anyone. This review is about Walmart+ delivery service. I pay $12.95 mo. to be a member which includes free delivery of groceries. My advice, based on my experience is, don't do it! They use a 3rd party delivery service which is wholly unreliable. Their extra cost Express service is worthless. The store management cannot help at all. If there was a 0 star rating, that would be it. The customer service is likely outside of the U.S. Although they're friendly, they are limited as to what they can do because they have no access to the local store. I have waited 48 hours for delivery that was incomplete at best. I do not recommend Walmart's delivery service. read more

I normally would rate this Walmart at a star or two but I am solely rating it 5 stars because of STORM!!! My boyfriend and I were hopelessly trying to find specific phone accessories and Storm approached us and asked if we needed anything. He was very kind and more than accommodating. Go into the store to return something at 11:00 on Saturday and no one is at customer service. Ask and they say no there so we can't return the item. I ask for a manager he says there isn't anyone in coming until 2 so we can't return something. WTF. Dumbest thing I ever heard. Based on their delivery service alone they should get 0 stars...their lack of communication and follow-up is abysmal. Order delays are expected (happened every time I placed a delivery order at this location) especially during these times but delivery cancellation without communicating is the last straw for me. After 4 hours after my delivery time, I contacted their customer service and only then was I informed of the cancellation. I will not be spending money at this Walmart again. read more

So Mrs. V was shopping here about 2 months ago when two men who got into a fight shot each other at the front door. So..... yeah. WM has dramatically gone downhill since the days of Mr. Sam Walton actually running the place: basically his children took over and are in the process of money-grubbing it into the ground. Cheap crap, mostly, although surprisingly children's footwear is good quality and good prices (sorry Target), and they have some of the cheapest ammunition in town, something near and dear to me. However, even by WM's already low bar, the New Hope Commons one is unusually bad. Per previous Yelpers the parking lot is confusing and dangerous, the staff is uninspiring at best, and the selection is pretty terrible even compared to other WMs. The few times we've gone we've have ALWAYS left frustrated because at least one thing on our list was out of stock, missing, etc. read more

Not one of my favorite stores. As others have noted, the parking lot is crowded and confusing to get in and out of if you're new to the area. This Walmart seems to have more than its share of weird people, too. They almost always have everything I'm looking for, however, and my checkout experiences have always been good (with the exception of two occasions where I had to stand in line for something like 15 minutes because there was another customer ahead of me having credit card issues -- very aggravating). Personnel, at least at the checkout counters, have been friendly in my experience. What just about ruined this Walmart for me was an ugly experience I had in the auto parts area, where an employee literally barked at me to "move!" because I had the audacity to be in his way. At the end next to dollar tree were three blk male employees wearing yellow vest with the cart manager standing around cursing doing nothing. I had a wonderful experience with the optometrist. He was very thorough and did a better job than most and I have had over 30 eye exams and being diabetic it is very important to get a detailed exam. The disconnect is when I wanted to order contacts. My appointment was a few days before year end and I wanted to use my dollars for contacts. I told the cashier I wanted to use my $150 for the contacts since I didn't use my money the year before and didn't want to waste it. At no point was I told that I needed to go back next door. I will take some of the blame because I should have confirmed but she nodded and I thought I was set. I was also in a hurry and th eappointment had taken longer than I had expected. I have been waiting to hear they had arrived because I have done this so many times before at other places. No call, so today I called to check in. Wow, the woman that answered in the eye center has obviously never heard of customer service. She was getting loud telling me what I should have done and how oh well, it is too late now. Thanks Captain Obvious. I am bummed but I am more bummed that she was such a jerk. Not everyone is a repeat customer and should be given clear instructions. I can get over losing the dollars. The attitude, not so much. Has she spoken with professionalism I would not be sharing this now. Remember a soft answer turns away wrath. I mean. It's a Wal-Mart. One thing that is particularly strange about this Wal-Mart is the parking lot; in fact, the access road situation for this entire shopping complex is inexplicably strange and difficult to navigate. While this doesn't have much to do with the store itself, it's a minor annoyance that won't make your experience any more positive. The shop itself is very standard. There's a nice, wide selection of items that you'd expect of a Wal-Mart. Checkout times can be very slow and lines get particularly bad after work hours during the holiday season. I wouldn't feel comfortable coming here alone late-ish at night. I've had my oil changed here three times. One of those times, the technicians stripped my drain plug, assuring me multiple times that it wouldn't be a problem. He was right - I didn't encounter any negative effects. Still, this will keep me from having any more extensive procedures performed here. read more

This store always seems to be under stocked. Everyone I go in they are out of one of the basic things I need. The most recent time was the worst. This place is HUGE, but this review is primarily for their auto service because not every Walmart offers it. The prices are excellent, and the manager provides great customer service. The first time, I've had them check my battery, which is free, and I also got an oil change, and WOW. Their price for an oil change is AMAZING - less than $20!? Seriously, why go anywhere else?? FYI, their hours are 7am-7pm every day, except Sundays are 9am-6pm. read more

I did an online order and received an email saying the order was ready to pickup on the last day in the guaranteed window. But after I got there and waited for a long time until someone came, I was told it was in the truck and I should come back tomorrow. Why sending out emails to us to come then? The other two guys at the counter were experiencing the same thing and were told to come back the next day. This probably explains why they are losing more and more customers. APRIL 9 2022: Re: Walmart in New Hope Commons, just off 15-501 in Durham: I came here tonight, April 9, a Saturday shortly after 10 pm. It was chilly outside and starting to rain. There were no carts inside the entrance, where they are supposed to be kept for customers to grab. I walked around inside looking for a spare cart. There were none. The only Associate I could find to ask was mopping near that entrance door. I asked him if any had been returned and he said he doubted it, and refused to even LOOK!!! I asked another Associate if he could get me a cart. Once he confirmed there were none in the entrance area (where they are normally kept), he said sorry, and left me to fend for myself. I had to go outside in the rain and walk to a cart deposit area in the parking lot, to get one. One customer who had his arms loaded for lack of a cart told me that he saw an Associate who was bringing them from the parking lot very slowly, ONE AT A TIME. How sorry is that. Customers were complaining everywhere. One lady said she was from out of town and couldn't find an Associate to open a locked enclosure for her to get an item to purchase. I helped her look, but the few Associates around were busy stocking in the back and I couldn't even catch their eye. The lady finally found a manager at the self checkout, but he said he couldn't leave his post until he was relieved about 15-20 min later, to open the case for her. HOW UNDERSTAFFED CAN YOU GET???? Meanwhile, all the registers were closed and only the self-checkout line near the produce was open. The line went all the way down the produce aisle!!!!!!!! Customers were furious. There was only one Associate at the self-checkout and she did not know where the manager was, but said her name was Renee. A man went looking for her but she was no where to be found. I asked someone who appeared to be a manager if/when another register would be open, and she said sorry, only self-checkout is open. A man from out-of-town said this is the worst-managed Walmart he has ever been in. The manager clearly didn't give a FLIP about the customer experience. Another man, who was without a cart for the same reason I was, was balancing a HUGE load of groceries in his hands. When he saw how long the self-checkout line was, he just dropped his groceries right there on the floor and tried to find a manager to complain to, but there wasn't one so he walked out. Another girl couldn't handle carrying everything in her arms and no one would help her either, so like me, she too had to walk out in the rain and grab a cart from the parking lot. Speaking of which, the parking lot was a MESS; Piled up carts were EVERYWHERE. Not a single Associate had bothered to bring any in. Not to mention that many of the shelves, etc. were a mess. One Associate appeared to be playing on his phone so I never asked him to help me. It was as if no one cared. The Associates didn't care because they knew the manager didn't care.
