Talk about a hot mess, almost all the racks are super disorganized and honestly the options they have are kind of minimal for certain things. I was looking for a yoga mat. I had two options. I also was looking for some work sandals, and honestly, they didn't have too many options either. The racks are an absolute mess to try to sort through. After years of not visiting this Target in the South Square shopping center off 15-501, my wife returned with me (my first time at this location) and she was reminded of why she preferred other Target locations over this one. Simply put, this Target is more like a Walmart. Our preferred Target in the Chapel Hill-Durham area is the one in the Renaissance Village shopping center. It's nicer. Target previously referred to that location as the "Durham SE" location. It's now called the "Durham Renaissance Pkwy" location: https://www.yelp.com/biz/target-durham-3 During our ordinary Saturday visit around 3:15pm, there was a panhandler outside the entrance, it was crowded, the crowd was relatively rough (inside the store and outside in the parking lot), the self-checkout line was the longest I've seen at any Target - it was so long that people in line had to make space for other customers entering the aisles to shop, and this was one of the worst Target stores (perhaps the worst) I've seen in terms of cleanliness and condition. Target has standards and this one fell below the mark. While I was able to find almost everything I needed, my wife was not. She generally loves shopping at Target and found this store to be disorganized and out of stock of several items she was looking for (e.g., beauty products). Like many girls, she takes joy in shopping at Target, but not at this location. My wife did say one cool thing about this Target is there's a mini Ulta Beauty inside. However, like the rest of this Target, the mini Ulta was in disarray. For example, several of the samples/testers were missing and those that remained were used up, dirty, and/or in bad shape. Among the things I purchased were two boxes of La Roche-Posay face moisturizer. I noticed the boxes were kind of beat up and crushed, so I checked the bottles inside to make sure they were okay. I'm glad I checked because someone had swapped a different bottle of lotion into one of the boxes. The bottle inside didn't match the box. I regularly purchase La Roche-Posay from other stores, including the aforementioned Renaissance Pkwy Target, and I've never seen that happen before. It's disconcerting and indicative of the quality of this Target. To top things off, the Starbucks inside this Target is lackluster too. She also knows how to take lead. This young lady made me feel very understood when it was very difficult to locate many things throughout the store. I understand you're trying to push sales, but there are not a lot of employees like her so please be mindful of how that infrastructure the structure of the store because if it wasn't for her, I would still be in that store right now while writing this review. This target continues to go downhill. They restock shelves during prime shopping hours on weekends so the aisles are crowded and difficult to navigate. Not only that, the shelves always seem to be half empty! Lights are burned out, or the motion activated ones don't seem to work, staff is unfriendly and unhelpful, there are very few checkouts with cashiers so there's always a huge line at the self-checkout. It is always my goal to get through a self checkout experience without having a problem where the attendant has to come over and enter in some sort of code but it never fails to happen- anything on clearance, any manufacturers coupons, sometimes even simples items like bananas- somehow they always cause oh issue and the screen throws an error and says "someone will be right with you." Well when there's one attendant on duty it's like whack-a-mole with what she can help with. Unpleasant shopping experience! I'd rather shop online. read more

This store suffers from a near-fatal case of "lean staffing. " It is ridiculously clear that Target refuses to hire enough staff this store so that it can actually function. I'm writing this in the self check out line because I have the time. There are 13 carts ahead of me in self check out (who knows how many machines are functional) and only two out of 15 regular check out lanes are open (those lines are across the aisles long). The carts in the parking lot are stacked up 2+ rows deep and stretch halfway across the lane. Inventory is thin and chaotic. The app says there are 16 something in stock? Maybe. Maybe not. Employees are doing the best they can, but the corporation is obviously making their jobs very difficult. read more

Management and customer service was nice but unfortunately the team that delivered the item should've reached out about the appearance of the item. It looks like it went through the ringer. I took it anyway but at this point it's my only option. Really unfortunate and I know it's Christmas but this isn't ok. Putting it together tonight and praying everything is there. read more

Went to this Target on a Sunday. The lines were so long they were extending to the back of the store. Not enough Customer service employees go to check out people waiting in line. Since all I was there for was some over-the-counter medication, I went to the pharmacist to help me. He refused. He said he could only check out prescription medication. Very frustrating experience. Went back later, around 8:00. The only lanes open were self check out. The line was still backed up. Plus, there was no one in the store to help find anything. I don't recommend this Target. read more

We used the drive up service again. It is even smoother, faster and more efficient than when we last used it. We ordered from home and headed to the store. We clicked that we were in the drive up lane and our order was at our car in less than a minute. The young lady was very professional and friendly and placed our order in our trunk. Holy Target. I am so confused why this place has terrible reviews. When we stopped in, the store was spotless, shelves were well stocked, and the staff members were very friendly. I was overwhelmed because there is just so much going on in here, but it was pretty easy to find what I was looking for and their variety of pre-packaged snacks and meals in the deli area was insane! They carry a lot more brands than a standard Target does, so of course I was distracted in the clothing and accessory sections. All in all, it's a Target on steroids and I'm cool with it! read more

This is with regards to the mask mandate. I tried to reach out to Target directly rather than post here, but the phone number wouldn't let me call Guest Services. I carry a bandana and often am not able to wear it due to a medical condition where I am very quickly impacted by lower oxygen levels. I nearly passed out in the store, so I lowered my bandana. An employee stopped me to tell me to cover my face. I told him I could do so but that I did have a medical condition and was near fainting. He indicated he did not believe me. I had to lower my bandana within a minute. Thankfully I was leaving anyways. If you feel like someone is being careless, by all means it is a private company and you can do what you like. But if I inform you I am near fainting and have a medical condition, please don't bother me about it, especially if I am minding my own business and following the rest of your guidelines. read more

This Target location is practicing social distancing. Each cart is being wiped down when they are returned & before another customer can grab it. The staff was wearing mask and some had on gloves. I made the quick run to pick up some fresh fruit. The grapefruit didn't scan as the displayed price and the employee at self check out prices matched. Also, this is unrelated to my transaction but there was an elderly man in a motorized shopping chart who was at self check out. The two employees did a great job helping him scan his items, bag them, and assisting with cash back. Kudos to them for great customer service!! They were patient and answered every question he had. read more

Dang, I miss me a Super Target! I have yet to see one in California but in the South there are tons of them! On my recent trip to Durham, my best friend and I stopped in here to grab a few items. Target is HUGE but well organized. I appreciated that the bathrooms are in the front of the store rather than all the way in the back. The food and water are located on the right side (as you walk in). The shelves were well stocked. The staff was very friendly. What more could I ask for? Prices here at Target tend to be better than going to Walmart. Also, I love the self-checkout! I had to double check if they had that at Targets in California and as of yesterday, I can confirm that we are still behind. Whomp Whomp! I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I approached an employee to ask if they might have it in the back. The employee I spoke to was not interested in helping at all-she tried to send me to another department, didn't believe me when I said I hadn't seen any employees in that department, and then didn't want to check the system to see if they had it. She said that she couldn't look for it without the exact code, but I have had employees check for things without a code before at other stores. If she'd been nice about it, that would have been one thing, but she was rude the entire time. I've worked in customer-facing positions before, so I understand the struggle, but she just made me feel like I was bothering her. read more

What is there to say? It's a large target that includes groceries. They've moved some departments around so if you haven't been there for a while it may take a little bit to find what you're looking for. I've seen buses from nearby colleges and boarding schools (NC School of Science and Math) pull up, so its a good place for students to stock up. The parking lot is a MESS! Even the Walmart parking lot down the road is a lot cleaner and much less litter strewn about. Today stepped out of my car onto a "former" employees' red t-shirt, name tag still attached. Thank you Daniel for throwing your trash out onto the ground instead of waiting until you got home. Inside, typical Target, they will have 9 of the 10 items on your list. Does management even walk the lot? How about asking each employee to pick up trash on their way into the store? Stuff - Great. I buy a lot of random stuff here. Everything is clean and relatively organized, with decent prices. Use Cartwheel, Redperks, and the Target card -- the savings stack up! Produce - No. Sometimes I'm really desperate for fruit and vegetables, so I wander over to the fruit and vegetables section, only to leave in disgust at the mold I touched while sorting through rotting produce. Do NOT buy your produce here. Go somewhere else. Dairy/eggs/frozen section: Totally great and fine. In fact, I'd recommend buying those from here, especially with the use of Cartwheel and your Target 5% card, it often ends up being the cheapest option and of pretty decent quality (unless you're comparing it with Costco). Pharmacy - The line can be super long or there may not be a line. If you need to pick up a prescription from here, be sure to make a beeline straight for the pharmacy, and if there's no line or only one person in line, pick up your prescription first. The line can get up to 6 people deep at times. Food court - I've never tried it. There's also a Starbucks, but the ONE time I tried to buy something from there, they told me they weren't open for business because some sort of system was down. read more

I've only had the displeasure of visiting this Target two times while with my girlfriend in Chapel Hill but they've both been pretty bad. If you go late at night there is nothing left to buy for the most part. The cashiers have been very slow along with not having enough lines open, and they seem to frequently bag things that don't belong together (i.e. meat and dry boxed food or soap and fresh fruit, etc.) This past time they declined my girlfriend's debit card and then would not have allowed her to talk to a manager. If I hadn't offered to pay for her groceries and school supplies she would have had no way to pay and would've been left hanging out to dry. (She had plenty of money on her card and the bank called the next day reporting "fraudalent activity" and it turns out the cashier charged her wrong twice then uncharged it both times and this led to the hold on the card) read more

This is a Super Target like any other, although last I was there (early June '16) the electronics department was being totally revamped, and so is mostly empty. The main problem is how difficult it is to deal with traffic getting onto the roads nearby. read more

HUGE!!! Everything from groceries to furniture to kitchenware to snacks to beauty supplies to clothes. It's a GIGANTIC place where you can easily lose someone or get some exercise by walking through the entire place. You can find a lot of your needs here - they've got a wide selection at this one-stop shop location. I saw things I had never even heard of, such as watermelon frosting - WHAT?! Every now and then, you'll see an aisle where there's a whole dedicated section for gluten-free items. Prices for items at this place aren't cheap though, so keep that in mind. This Target is usually clean (well clean for a big box discount store) and the shelves well stocked. The biggest gripe for me is that they rarely have enough lanes open for check out. If you have more than 4 people in line, it is time to open another register! I like their selection of Archer brand spices and they even have organic spices. I love Target, and I love super target even more! I'm from an area where super targets are rare. I love that I can get everything I need in a one stop shop and know the quality is there! It is a standard Target in regards to their home living selection. They've got everything you need if you just moved in. Hardware, light bulbs, towels, kitchen stuff, everything! Their sale "pantry" foods are usually a good deal but I can't yet comment on most of their butchered meats. I do know that the deli fresh slices are cheaper than the prepackaged meats. I never have trouble parking and never really have to wait too long to check out. All in all, a solid target that I find myself at quite often! read more

I am a Target stock holder. This review is directed at an experience I had on December 7, 2013. I purchased some large ornaments to hang outdoors at my home and some specialty cord to use. The cashier who checked me out, had a "new associate" badge on. She was pleasant. I made my purchase and gathered my items and then moved from the lane so that the people behind me could check out. I moved perhaps five feet away from the check out lane, yet directly behind, a place where I could be plainly seen by the cashier. The cashier when bagging my items, for some mysterious reason put the specialty cord in its own bag. The spools of cord were small and could have gone in one of my oversized ornament bags. So, as I spent a minute or two checking my purchase. rooting through my bags because I had a hunch. I discovered that my specialty cord was not with my items. By this time the people who had checked out behind me were done purchasing and had left the lane. I walked back, again perhaps 5 steps and without asking the cashier held up my bag and stated that I'd left my cord behind. I wonder: had I not stopped to check my bags would she have stopped me? I doubt it. I think she would have let me leave only to discover that upon arrival at home that my cord was missing. This is NOT the type of customer care that I expect from a corporation that I'm part owner of. read more

I think I am reviewing the right one! We just moved here and had to go to Target to buy one of everything. We were chomping at the bit to get here because previously we only had a Walmart where we lived before. We made this a family event and everyone excitedly piled into the car for the 20 minute drive from Carrboro to ST! It was hopping but parking was not a problem. I was a little surprised to see a security guard or was it a police officer standing at the entrance. I've been to other Targets in other places and have never encountered this. We ended up with three carts of odds and ends, essentials, non-essentials and a Tony the Tiger t-shirt. I felt like the Duggars on a shopping trip with us hauling around three carts. I like the selection of both food and non-food items. The prices are definitely cheaper than Bi-Lo which is a local chain in SC. About $2 cheaper on some items even. But how much more am I going to spend on non-food items though? :) The checker didn't bat an eye when she saw us coming and checked us out quickly. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that the rent a cop wanted to see our receipt since we were leaving with about $700 worth of stuff. (hangs head in shame) I enjoyed my experience but ST is probably too dangerous for me to go back to on a regular basis. But if you need a place for one-stop shopping this fits the bill. read more

Convenient to my home so I put up with the lazy workers. Why they do not stock shelves at night is beyond me. Since the pandemic I have continued to go there 4-5 per week. Have stood in line waiting my turn to enter without complaining. Never been required to wear a mask. Until today. More than 2 months after this began. I am not opposed to masks but to require it as things are winding down is stupid. Add one more person to the customers not returning. read more

Let's face it, this is not a place to get lost in culinary exploration. It's a place where you go get the groceries you know you need. And with that you're pretty set. I do have to say, you can find high quality items here. I stock up on my staple copious amounts of Greek yogurt here and they have a good variety. They carry Angie's Kettle Corn which is delicious. Cabot Cheddar Cheese. A very nice selection of beer. All things Whole Foods would carry but at a lower price. It's also pretty convenient to be able to pick up things like toothpaste or mouthwash the next aisle over. If you're cooking a homemade meal, you may come across a scarcity of things you'd need. Target, for instance, has a limited selection of fresh herbs. Their selection of Boar's Head-style deli meats is ok. For the price and convenient, though, Super Target is a good bet. read more
