I was next door at Saltbox and made plans to visit Classic Treasures and Patina since they are so close. Imagine my surprise when I get there only to see a sign saying "Gone to the bank. Will be back shortly." I see a couple waiting in their car. I go to Patina and look around. Come back like 20 mins later and the sign is still on the door. That couple was still waiting when I got back and now another car of people pull up. I stuck around for 10 more minutes. When I left, both cars of ppl had already left. Perhaps there was an emergency and they had to go to the bank while the store was supposed to be open on Friday from 11-6. However, might I suggest a time on the note so people can know how long you have been gone and guesstimate how long they are willing to wait. read more

Three times while visiting this shop the owner was wearing his gaiter around his neck despite there being a mask mandate in Durham at the time. I think it's important for other customers to know this as Covid worsens with the Delta variant. We did purchase a cute picture there at a decent price. But the lack of responsibility with the mask was very unusual for this community and honestly made me question if I would ever return. read more

We were shopping for a dresser for our new house. We looked at several used furniture stores and found possibilities, but we weren't enthusiastic. We found a dresser at Classic Treasures that checked all the boxes, including not costing a whole lot. We talked to Blake (owner?) who was very helpful and agreed we could buy it over the phone after we had thought about it a bit. So that's what we did--paid by credit card over the phone and returned the next day to bring it home. Our daughter bought a beautiful dining room table there years ago, they are still using it. Classic Treasures has a great selection of nice things in good condition, and lots of unusual pieces. I can't say enough good things about Classic Treasures-- from the selection, quality, prices, and customer service, everything is top notch! To start with the selection: there is a range of prices that can fit every budget. Everything is high quality; a lot of it I would call a more "traditional" style, but things are always changing so it is good to check back. When there are really nice things, they go fast! My husband and I came back for several weekends in a row and were surprised at how much the inventory moved. The customer service is great-- they will keep things for you while you decide and were not pressured in any way. We ended up buying a whole set and were also given a discount by the very nice owner for being such good customers! They also deliver for a small fee, which is great-- the delivery was on time and very professional and easy! Consigned furniture at this store and had horrific experience with owner Blake. He seems cheerful, but if listen to his words carefully it's a lot of double talk. Placed me on hold for long periods of time, and refuses to give me a list of items I have sold there. Does not respond to email about items sold. I would not trust this person. I noticed he treats people vastly differently, and I feel cheated. If you sell your items here I would not be guaranteed being truthful about what is sold and for what price. TOTAL FRAUD. Still haven't received a check for my goods that the owner Blake Addison sold. It's been 3 months, so plenty of time. He just removed all my reviews and posted more photos. I am Asian so I guess I am not going to get angry. His wife treats him like a baby. She says he's just like that. She did apologize first, but later stuck to her guns. He yells and screams and refuses to apologize. Than he cries, and makes up a phony story where I am the bad guy. Poor guy, people call him for business related matters that are pretty basic. He has his own Fake News, which is that I am from California. So, you know how odd it is that we want to give him our correct address and want to get paid. Also, he says he can only write down the information once (I never called him more than once and I explained when I dropped of my furniture). He told me he doesn't treat most people like he treats me. I wish I had just donated all my furniture. Basically, it's a donation to some rude guy. There are more worthy charities. Also, my stuff was pretty nice, but he said it didn't matter what brand. If you have nice things go somewhere else. I was in a rush, and he was the only one who could see me the same day. I noticed he treated white people better. But, while his voice is kind his words are not. He thinks he's clever but it just folksy fast talking and I was confused my it. I thought he was funny like the Soup N_zi on Seinfeld, but he treats people much differently. read more

This review is based on one visit, which may not be totally fair since consignment stores are by nature hit or miss. But on my recent visit, it was mostly a miss. The store is spacious and houses lots of furniture, and I especially liked how they set it up like a showroom (even complete with Christmas decorations!). I was surprised by the number of pieces that were dinged (wooden furniture with dents) and discolored (upholstery) -- in other words, some items seemed more "used" than "gently used." The prices generally reflect this though; I mean, $200 for an originally $2k price probably isn't all that bad! Generally, the pieces seem to be more traditional decor; but it's probably worth checking in from time to time since I'm sure their inventory switches out swiftly. The staff seemed really friendly -- greeted me on entrance and helped point out items to another customer in search of some wicker furniture. read more

I don't even have my furniture yet, that's how impressed I was to write a review! Called in ahead of time with a few questions, which were answered cheerfully. Classic Treasures was first on my list of consignment stores to stop by this afternoon... but after three or four visits elsewhere I went back and bought the items I'd had my eye on. Prices and styles range to accommodate just about anyone. The little things are what make this place so great! There are tape measures hanging everywhere so you can take down furniture dimensions - didn't even think about it beforehand, but was so happy that I was able to double-check sizes before I made a purchase. Out of all the places I called, Classic Treasures had the longest hold time for purchases - I'm moving exactly one week from today and they were kind enough to agree to hang on to my new sofa until then since I don't have a trailer just yet. Very kind and helpful! Sad that I'm moving so far away from the area but I'll definitely be coming by again when I'm back in Durham! I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I went in on a whim, expecting it to be an antiques shop and more highly priced, but I am a huge fan of consignment shops and found it to be perfect for what I was looking for. Everything I saw was in decent to great shape, and reasonably priced. I got a large dresser in perfect condition for about 300 bones. The staffperson who helped me made a few suggestions and was not pushy. I am not exaggerating when I say that they furnished my entire loft. The finds here range from classic antiques to contemporary finds from top furniture makers. It's a decent-sized furniture consignment store with quite a few nice items for sale. They advertise their furniture as "gently used" and I found this to be true for the most part. There were some dressers I saw that were fairly scuffed up, but these were also some of the cheapest items in the place. I have visited Classic Treasures twice - once in March and again this week. It is my absolute favorite consignment shop - great variety - booths with well-chosen items - many unique - and just the right involvement by Blake, the owner. He is readily available, - has a friendly demeanor but is at the same time professional and knowledgeable, straight-forward, no games - not pushy, snooty or overly familiar - treats lovely ladies and old geezers such as myself just the same - with respect. For items too large to carry from the store, he will deliver quite reasonably and reliably; the delivery men were helpful - went above and beyond in service. They arrived at the time promised - realized a small item was missing from a heavily loaded truck - checked with me about that and returned with it later in the day. What really pushed me to finally write this review (I'm a terrible procrastinator) is that AFTER I purchased some items (old desk, end tables, bookcase, etc.), they were clearly cleaned and touched up before delivery. Blake had already made the sale, and I was gone. How classy is that? I can see why his employees seem to feel good about working there. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful. We got a really lovely couch from there for $300, and the people we dealt with couldn't have been nicer. This price included a substantial discount for a stain -- however, the staff realized that the stain could be removed, so they removed the stain for us but kept the discounted price. They also delivered for only $25, which I believe is the price for students. I'd make this your first stop if you're considering buying any used furniture. read more

MY mother lived in Durham and when she passed away, her retirement community recommended Classic Treasures to consign her belongings. I contacted Blake, who asked me to send photos. I did so, including photos of not only Victorian furniture but also 1920's art deco lamps, contemporary paintings by noted local artists and classic solid oak furniture. He responded that my items were vintage/antiques and there is no market for antiques. I questioned this, since they are listed as an antiques and vintage consignment shop. he responded that they don't sell "old and irrelevant furniture", and that they specialize in Danish Modern. A pretty great find, a furniture consignment store with considerably nicer and higher quality stuff than you could find at, say, the Salvation Army. Prices vary tremendously; things will drop in price the longer they sit in the store. So not only are the items themselves all over the place, so are the prices. Delivery is a flat rate. I recently consigned some items with this shop. I was very impressed with the consigning experience. They came and picked up my items at my place (for free!) and sold them at a nice price in store. It was a no-hassle deal. I'd definitely recommend this place if you are moving out of the Durham/Chapel Hill area and need to sell a lot of furniture etc. I was happy with the price I got too. It does take awhile to get the check for your sales (it comes about 1-2 months after items sell) but that's all on the paperwork you sign when you consign items. And the money came reliably even though I'd moved cross-country by the time stuff sold. Overall, a fantastic shop and a great place to consign. read more

When I contacted them towards end of first month to see what had sold, was told 2 items had sold but were sold for approx. 30% less than agreed upon price for one of the items and close to that for the 2nd.
