Arrived at 10 am this morning, parked a good bit away as no close spots available, got knocked into three times by three different customers and their carts, navigated extremely narrow aisles and found two dog toys and in the time I arrived and went to check out, the line had wrapped around the check out and down the main aisle. I left without buying a thing. I understand that this retailer has great deals and many unique items, but the store is seriously not shopper-friendly. T.J. Maxx is what you expect once you understand your expectations. On any given day you may or may not find what you are looking for. The categories of options are amazing (clothes, coffee, decor, jewelry, accessories, food, pillows, linens, etc). Great brands (often off season or slight errors in production). The biggest selling point of this T.J. Maxx is the checkout. They are lightning fast. They can get through 20 people in 5 minutes. Sharp and efficient. Great selection, but you are taking a chance. This TJ Maxx can be easy to miss tucked away in a shopping center on Falls of Neuse Road, but don't let that stop you from popping in. It's very much like a Marshalls (owned by the same company), so it's rather hit or miss depending on what you're looking. The hits, however, are totally worth it! Example: my dad is very tall and has an odd jean/pants size. I've scored a few pairs of pants for him here when I couldn't find them anywhere else, and at a great price. TJ Maxx has men's, women's and children's clothes, as well as home decor, purses, bags, accessories, shoes and housewares at great prices. This is my favorite TJ Maxx location. More times than not, when I go for something I can find what I'm looking for and of course some things that I'm not. The store is really busy and sometimes the lines get long but the cashiers do a good job of getting people through the line. They are well stocked and have a lot of items to offer. For the most part, the store is usually tidy which makes for an enjoyable shopping experience. read more

if I could rate this a zero star then I would and coming from someone who's been shopping at the store for over 10 years is quite unsettling, the new security staff named "Mel" decided that from the moment I entered the store thought it was appropriate to follow me around the entire time I was there. last time I checked, loss prevention, security, none of those positions require you to harass, follow, and pretty much stalk customers as they're trying to enjoy their shopping spree. I have never in my 25 years on this earth ever been so embarrassed, emotionally distressed, and had a complete panic attack upon leaving the store. No matter where I was in that store, "Mel "was right there behind me whether it was dinging off messing with a suitcase or adjusting something that didn't even need to be messed with. I have never felt so violated and so uncomfortable during a shopping experience with my two friends in my entire life. at the point where she followed me all the way to the men's section, I finally said "ma'am why have you been following me the entire time I've been in the store?" she proceeds to tell me that she's not following me and that she's just doing her job, I'm sorry but in what reality is someone's job to follow a customer around their entire time shopping and creep around the corner and look at them, and look in between the racks to see what they're doing, peek around the corner, I'm sorry but that's not in a securities job description. I have never been in a situation like this because I don't steal, I don't disturb people, I keep to myself I am very gentle and kind of strangers but for some reason this lady decided that I was her victim for the night and not only has she caused me to feel show socially anxious to go back to my favorite stores but I have had three panic attacks tonight since that happened. no young woman or man should go shopping and be followed the entire time they're shopping and when they ask why they're being followed, they're told, "oh I'm not following you ". this type of behavior should not be allowed in any type of business and I am going to get justice for the emotional distress, the harassment, and the utter disrespect this lady put into my life for no reason. nobody deserves to feel as if they are doing something wrong by simply trying to enjoy a shopping trip with their friends, not every young person is some criminal and quite frankly I have a clean record Mel. I just really believe that woman is not fit for the position she is in and I hope that no one who visits that store ever hast to deal with what I went through last night. just thinking about how I was treated is making me tear up because that was absolutely unacceptable and unfortunately I guess she doesn't understand mental health awareness and that type of stuff really screws people up because all I did was live my life and go shopping with my friends and it turns into me getting profiled and does some criminal and apparently my friend heard her on the phone describing what we looked like. definitely a learning lesson and hopefully as a community we can fight back against people who profile, stereotype, and make us feel like we are something we are not... read more

This review is going to cover several TJ Maxx stores in the Triangle. 1.) TJ Maxx - Falls of Neuse in Raleigh: Not the best TJ Maxx store in the area, which I find baffling, given its proximity to North Raleigh and inside the beltline. The store is small and needs to be renovated. The new Home Goods right by it would be a great example of what the parent company could do to spiff up the store. Having said that, there are great finds to be had here for clothing, shoes, perfumes and toiletries. 2.) TJ Maxx - brand new one near Cary Parkway in Cary: bright, shiny, great selection, nice size. Excellent shoe selection. Also conveniently located near a Target and a Ross Dress for Less (coming soon.) Huge and spacious purse section, also great selection of luggage. 3.) TJ Maxx - 15/501 in Durham: older and smaller store, but has the Runway section. This is the high fashion area in TJ Maxx where you can find very high end designers. The prices in this section are higher than the usual TJ Maxx price point range, but for fashionistas who want their high end designers, the comparative deals are very solid. This store tends to have the most interesting finds, and it is probably due to its location between Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. All locations have great bargains and you can't go wrong. If you are a true frugal fashionista, you shall enjoy all of them. If you really do want your Nordstrom's/Saks/Belk designer lines, go to the one in Durham with the Runway section. read more

I love TJ Maxx and often walk out of the store with SOMETHING. The TJM on Falls is a bit lackluster and is in desperate need of a makeover. I recently went in for a new carry-on bag and heard that TJM carries Delsey luggage, so I opted to give it a shot. First, the parking was a nightmare. Once I actually did get into the store, I went right for the luggage. They had quite a few carry-on size bags, but not a lot of Delsey. The part that is sort of a turn-off is that most of the bags were covered with dust. You'd think the staff would sort of go around with a feather duster in the evenings, once in a while. The entire store is this way, though. This TJM is always cluttered. You really have to dig around to find something worthwhile. As a fan of TJM, this one is a disappointment. read more

I cannot believe that I've never been here before! OMG I think this is the best TJ Maxx i've ever been! Not customer service wise, but the stuff they have!!! I was so impressed because it seemed like they carry lots of $$$ brands. I've been to lots of different Marshalls and Tj maxx and none of places had this many pricey brands like here. I love Dvf dress and oh god, I even thought about driving to Maryland just to go to their outlet mall, and this Tj maxx had their dresses(of course they were not my size but still!). Also, lots of Kate Spade, Theory, and more! This place is quite far from my place but its going to be my new happy place from now on:) Only complaint was their service. This lady at Cashier was kinda mean to me because I accidentally left my cash on the table instead of handing it to her when I was paying. I wasn't sure if I had enough cash, so I was kinda looking into my purse and left cash on the table first ... and I think she got offended lol(If you did, I am so sorry, I didnt really mean anything!!). She said "I am going to hand this money to you instead of leaving money on the table" so I thought that she was joking with me but apparently, she was pissed off lol. My friend said she def was not joking with me haha. But overall, lots of variety and good stuff. Make sure you take your time when you shop here. It's huge!!! I've visited location three times and it is always disorganized and not recovered. Only four cashiers at a time which makes the lines extremely slow. An off-price retail has to remove the sensors and hangers on majority of the merchandise. The employees have no sense of urgency, too busy chatting with each other and others. read more

I always enjoy TJ Maxx and think this one has a nice selection. I was just turned off my recent return experience. My mother in law gave me a sweater for Christmas that didn't work for me. The tag was ripped but the item number remained. The cashier, Beverly, must have said five words and spent most of the time acting very inconvenienced. When she struggled to read the tag while typing it in to her system, I offered to read it out to her; she ignored me. The only thing she really said to me was "you didn't get this for Christmas. It's super old." Well, I did get it for Christmas. She didn't tell me my refund/store credit options, nor how much she was putting on the store card. At the end, she just yelled "next!" Love the set up of this store. There are little stairs that connect it on the inside to the home goods. The selection isn't the best I've seen but it isn't the worse either. The children's items stand out at this location the most. You can also find some good beauty deals, if others haven't gotten there first. Saw some high end brands like Algenist, Anastasia, dr. This is the most redheaded step-child of all TJ Maxxes and Mashalls out there in North America. I perfectly understand the concept of "past season" designer clothes but do they have to have torn sleeves, holes and stains? It is not a second hand store after all. Seasonal decorations are also broken many of times - here's your three legged reindeer, kid. In general, besides occasional finds at jewelry counter (still scarce) and decent purse collection, there is really nothing to look at. Shoe department is the most depressing thing I have seen in years; sales are sluggish, I keep seeing same shoes over and over again. Staff members are great though, given what they have to work with, but it is the most uninspiring shopping experience ever. Even Target across the street has more upbeat and going atmosphere. The only reason I would still come here and not Target for "emergency" purchases - I do not buy my pants at the same place I buy my lettuce. Only my darn principles of selective shopping and a decade of successful dressing at TJ Maxxes of America, keep me coming back here. read more
