I'VE BEEN A LONG-STANDING CUSTOMER WITH REGION OIL IN NEW JERSEY. They removed my underground tank /installed a new above ground tank / removed old furnace and replaced new system. Additionally, they are the only company that has serviced and maintained the system since installation. Recently, I've written two respectful, professional,emails directly to the service manager with attached pictures, asking for an explanation, and further assistance to no avail. I clearly stated I need to communicate through email and have yet to receive a response as the system remains partly disassembled. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO REGION OILS CUSTOMER SERVICE? The worst company! I have been a Region propane customer for over 20 years. Shame on me for not looking at my bills and the rates they charge for propane. After a recent delivery, I promptly paid my invoice (as always), then a few weeks later I received another invoice that included a $99.95 fee. The description was very unclear, so I decided to call them for an explanation. I was told that this is a new charge being levied on "low volume" customers. Low volume is apparently customers that use under 75 gallons of propane annually. While on the phone with customer service, I checked the average rate for propane in my area (Sussex Cty NJ). I learned that the avg rate is about $3.25 p/g. I noticed that I my bill from Region was over $6.50 p/g, and it's been this way for some time. I asked the rep about this and she explained that Region charges a higher rate for low volume customers. So, apparently, they now charge customers like me an extra 100 bucks, plus a propane rate that is double the average. I decided, based on the lack of billing transparency from Region, to switch to a new provider (the new provider is fully transparent, they charge $2.88 p/g, a modest annual tank rental fee, and a small delivery fee). This is a lower annual cost than Region with all things factored in, but most important is that it is fully transparent. I called Region to tell them I am canceling and that they can get their tank and credit me for the fuel in it that I already paid for (it's nearly full). They said they would schedule the tank pickup and that there is a $150 tank pickup fee, plus I still owe them for the new $99.95 low usage fee (charged in Aug). As a result, rather than receiving a credit for the fuel I already bought and will be returning, they will be charging me for the balance (my credit would be far less than the $249.95 they are planning to bill me for). Having canceled because of the new fee and because they've been grossly over charging for the propane, I said I would not agree to pay these new charges. I also said that after 20 years of loyalty I thought they should be willing to get their tank tank on their dime. They said, in short, there is no room for an accommodation on these fees/charges. If you are considering Region, I suggest looking to almost anyone else (there are much more transparent and lower cost providers in northern NJ). If you are a current customer, take a look at your bill and make sure you aren't over paying. FYI...I had a similar experience with them on fuel oil and canceled this service years ago...I should have learned my lesson back then! read more

I was overcharged by Region Energy for a propane delivery. They charged me for a full tank when in fact our tank was not empty but 1/3 full. We called 10 different times over the span of 6 months each time being told a "note will be sent to their delivery department to return a call to us". We never once heard back so continued to call and complain at which point we refused to pay our balance until we were contacted to discuss the matter. We still heard nothing back. We came home one evening and our propane tanks were gone we were never notified, no email, no phone call, no letter, that they would be taking my heat source from my home during an active dispute in which they did not follow up with. I am a mother I have animals I was left unable to cook, shower or turn on the heat ( that night temps dropped to 20 degrees first frost ) for my family. Region Energy is a neglectful, unethical company that needs to be reported so that this does not happen to another family without due notice. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I see their rating is a 1.9 so obviously there is an ongoing lack of professionalism and general decently to be seen when dealing with this company read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We have used Region for propane for 20 years now to fuel our dryer and stove/oven. They were charging us over $6.50 per gallon but we were OK with it because we didn't use much propane. Then, our oil furnace died and we had no heat and decided to install a propane furnace (We will be connecting to gas lines within the next 3 years). We called to see if we could get two 100 gallon tanks to fuel our new furnace. A VERY rude woman called me back and told me that she can have somebody do a site survey in the next 45 days! I told her that we are in an emergency situation, having no heat. She then yelled "THAT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY, A GAS LEAK IS AN EMERGENCY!" We were shocked!! To be treated like this by anybody is not acceptable. We were at a holiday party and told friends of our experience and apparently, this woman is well-known for being rude and not willing to help customers. But if they keep this woman employed, it tells us that it is a culture that comes from the top-down and is acceptable to to the owner. We called Combined Energy Services and they were on-site in two hours and delivered two tanks the next day! After 12 days of no heat, we had heat again thanks in large part to Combined Energy Services and NO THANKS to Region Energy! Region energy doesn't care about their customers and it shows. They lock you into auto delivery and when you don't physically cancel with them after your contract term is over they come on an auto delivery again and hit you with a high ( non-copetitive price) and tell you after they slam you with a astronomical bill and say there pricing is so high because they are a "full service company " even though you don't have a full service contract with them BEWARE OF THE SCAM!!!! read more

Horrible company. I have a contract with them for automatic delivery. Called on Saturday because I was close to running out. I was told a delivery was scheduled for today. No delivery on Sat. Truck ran out of oil before it got to my house. Rescheduled for Tuesday (not the next bus day) -- Christmas Eve. Tank is now on empty. 9 degrees this morning and more expected for the next few days. Refuse to deliver before Tuesday. I will run out of oil before them. All I was told is they will be there on Tuesday and I have a maintenance contract and they will come WHEN I RUN OUT OF OIL. All they will do is put a gas can full of oil in my tank. So if the truck runs out on Tuesday I have to wait til when ? -- Christmas is Wednesday and I'm going to freeze to death. Region oil price gouges!!! Do not order oil from them! I just had a fill for $5.019 a gallon when my mom got a fill from Fossil Fuel on 1/28 for just $3.29 a gallon! Region Oil stated the difference was because they are "full service" - services that I don't require or use! How can they honestly charge almost $2 more per gallon for the same exact fuel? Continuation of previous post: . I literally was appauled at that point. So we bought a completly brand new stove and called AGAIN for someone to come in and install it and was told "well we do not have an appliance department to actually do the install". I was livid.So at this point it is now February/March, complete install was supposed to be end of November and here we are almost 4 months later not completed so once agaon WE the customers had to put in our own stove and hook up. THEN i'd say since February we have been calling because we didnt have heat TWICE throughout the winter because some thermostat or heater valve went TWIVE on a brand new furnace. THEN we have had to call an uncountable amount of times for them to come because we have constantly NO HOT WATER. Apparently according to the techs, the safety switch keeps tripping becauyse of the lack of air flow in the chimney. We had a brand new chimney liner replaced not even a year and a half ago and they stated to us to call the chimney company to come out and take a look and that there is some sort of air flow problem. The chimney company came out and they stated there is nothing wrong with the liner and to call region back and there is some sort of substance coming out from the furnace also they need to take a look at. So AGAIN region came back and they stated they need to put in another type of ventilation system for the furnace cause there is not enough flow and the furnace system keeping tripping. After while I feel like internally in the furnace what if something shorts out a fire breaks out while were sleeping or god for bid when we are not home and something happens to one of us or our small child........ then what???? all these issues that we have been having and we have literally had NOTHING but problems since the start last fall. When is enough, enough???? We are NOPT receiving calls back from management of Region and NOT the sales manager the actual owner/ manager of region. We have no idea of what to do anymore about this and are at a loss. My husband called last week because ONCE AGIN the switch tripped and NO HOT water again and here we are coming up to the fall in the coming months and this is gonna continue with now having no heat every few days??? This is getting ridiculous and my husband stated he wanted management to call him back and here we are a week later and NOTHING and out switch has tripped twice since then. At this point he stated we need to get our attorney involved because this is uncalled for and ridiculous. I will give a 0 star to this company. In June we had a 12K new air conditioning unit installed which only worked for a couple of days until we had several leaks in the ceiling from the attic unit. Regional Energy's subcontractor only came once and unable to fix it properly. We had about 7 Regional Energy's technicians coming and every time we were given a different diagnose. None of the managers we emailed or called contacted us. The contractor finally came a month later and the unit so far is working, however the ceiling has not been repaired and the stairs going to the attic broke from all the people going up and down. No one is answering or taking responsibility for the repairs and going into two months since this nightmare started. I will jot recommend this company to anyone; hire a company that specializes in ACs. We were planning to have our furnace replaced and will not use them ever again-The lack of communication from the management team is non existent.-when you call customer service they don't provide any guidance other than they will contact their superviso, no refer number and no call back either. Rip off!!! They will fill up your tank and say the price per gallon is just above the locked in price. i had a delivery today at $5.029. I fill up mt diesel truck at $4.75 a gallon and that has road tax. Other oil company's are at $3.99 a gal. I understand Region will be a little more by like 30 cents or so and that they need to make money but $1.00/gal higher than their competition is ridiculous!. Now i will be running a few electric heaters, a wood stove in our basement, and buying a pellet stove for our fire place now that im locked into this company and stuck until next year. Avoid this business, they are not honest and reliable. Even worse is their oil tank insurance company, ProGuard. They are unscrupulous with horrendous business practices. Here's an analogy... suppose you had auto insurance with company X, and you paid extra for collision coverage. You have an accident, and company X tells you they won't pay for the repair (even tho you paid for collision protection) unless you renew your policy with company X, even tho the current policy is still in force. Don't let them feed you the BS of having a service contract, 'better oil processing' (which they couldn't even explain when I asked what that meant) and 24/7 service - there is NO GOOD REASON to charge over $1 more per gallon than every other competitor in the area. I live on Lake Hopatcong and my heating oil bills are now $650 for $187 gallons!!! INSANE!! That's $3.50 a gallon when every other competitor is charging $2.25 $2.50 a gallon right now. The WORST!!! I was told the person who took my landlords $419 for a service contract 'wasn't paying attention' to it being a landlord/tenant account... So they cancelled the service contract because i wasn't on automatic delivery. Cancelled AFTER sending out a service guy and scheduling a plumber... Cancelled 4 hours after all was scheduled. If I could give zero stars I would! I've been a customer with them since 2014 and they've been awful since day 1. I've had issues with my BRAND NEW furnace tripping every time power goes out and in return it ends up blowing cold air. I call for service and all they do is press the reset button, no shit I could do that. It lasts 20 minutes and I'm without heat again! They consistently give me a time window which they will be here and NEVER arrive in that time window. I always have to call to find out where they are! I've made my annual maintenance checks well before my service contract is up but coincidentally region always cancels the day before appointment and the new appointment just so happens to be after a service contract is up. They assured me it will still be covered, however I'm always billed and have to fight it to get the charges reversed! This company is horrible! They are all about quick fix and not finding a solution to the bigger problem! They certainly do not listen to or have the customers best interest as a priority. read more

By far the worse oil company I hired for my oil and furnace service. Prices were always higher than what I was supposed to pay, not to mention that service contract is useless. When emergency occurred, it took them 3 days to get back to me, at that time my pipes were frozen and I had to hire outside firm to have it fixed. When technician eventually arrived several months later, he was "too fat" to do the tune up of the unit and had to leave without finishing the work. Seriously, you cannot make this stuff up.... I wish I could give zero stars for Region Energy. They are a rip-off! I purposely let my contract expire because I was converting to a natural gas furnace, and wanted to get partial deliveries (which Region does not offer) to get me through to the spring. I got a quote for $4.05/gallon from another company. But 4 weeks after my contract expired, and before I could get a delivery from the new company, Region came by without my knowledge or consent and filled my tanks at a cost of $5.25/gallon! Now they are telling me that they still had the right to continue automatic deliveries even though I was not under contract. I offered to pay for the oil that was delivered at the $4.05 price quoted by the company I wanted to do business with, even though it was more oil than I needed, but they wouldn't hear of it. We had a terrible experience with Region Energy. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. We decided to use them for installation of central air in our home. Our salesman, Ed Snyder was rude and a liar. He made promises (installation dates) that he ultimately had no authority to do. We had to chase him down for our estimate. With that being said, it took approximately 4 weeks to schedule the installation. After finally scheduling, we're told Region "doesn't have time" to pick up our permit from the Township. We had to take a day off of work to pick-up the permit from the Municipal Building or the job couldn't be started. They finally showed up to do the job on 7/24/20. They indicated it was a two-day job after we were told it was a one-day job. They worked for 3 hours (9:37 AM-12:40 PM) and left. We assumed it was for lunch however, they never came back. They were supposed to come back the following day and never showed up. No call, no nothing. After multiple calls to Region, our Installation Manager Tracey Pearson called us around noon and said the crew had an emergency and they were coming from South Jersey. Needless to say, they came back on Monday. The installation crew advised that Region sent them to do a replacement job on Saturday. I guess our job wasn't top priority. Furthermore, the company was from the Town over and NOT South Jersey. On Monday, they indicated they were short-handed and would need two days to finish the job. They could not install a return in my kitchen due to the fact that they didn't have a saw to cut through the tile in my master bath. We have called Region MULTIPLE times since 7/27/20, asking when they would be coming to install the last return and finish the job. Additionally, construction debris was left in our attic (sheetrock and wood). I guess the $13,000 price tag didn't include cleaning up? The crew banged so hard in our attic they caused the screws/nails to come through the ceiling and caused my ceiling to crack. We have spoken to our Installation Manager multiple times and she tells us "it's a battle between the managers." What does that even mean? In addition to calling our Installation Manager, we have been calling the general number and we're told someone would call us back. I have requested contact information for a supervisor and I'm told "they can't give out that information." Last week I finally spoke to a "Supervisor" who PROMISED that she would fix the situation. One week later, no call back and no resolution. Now we can't schedule the inspection because the job isn't done. I guess because Region has been paid, we aren't important to them. No emergency services exist for this company. I called at 1:00PM today and was told that my furnace was broken and the quickest they can get someone here is a 5 hour window tomorrow which is between 3:00 and 8:00 tomorrow. I am without heat and hot water for over 24 hours and it is going down to 10 degrees tonight. I have my wife and child and 4 animals to keep warm tonight and hope that space heaters do the job. I had previous issues with the deliveries as well. This is Sedona a strike 2 situation and really debating on waiting for a strike three or just switch. CROOKS!!! Do yourself a favor and use someone like Liberty discount fuel or one of the other COD Oil delivery companies. They are sneaky and slimy. Delivery drivers show up whether you want to be filled or not, even if you call ahead of time to tell the office not to send someone the drivers never get the message. I called to review my account transactions when I was left with a balance totaling over $2,000 even though I did their supposed budget plan and only then did one of their office reps ask me if anyone had told me about the pricing protection plan! This Provider started to deliver oil at way over the market price without informing us. We had an 800 gal delivery at $3.50 a gallon when the market price is around $4.20. When I called, they baldly said that that was their price, and offered to take off 50c on future deliveries. That was still way over market. Be careful. I have dropped them. read more

I have had a contract with Region Oil for over a year now. Recently I was having issues with my boiler. Once it shut off it would not kick back on and was running very rough when it was on. First technician came out on 11/6, issue still wasn't resolved. I call again and another (very rude) technician comes on 11/12. He replaces a part that is not in contract and is $500. The very next day my boiler STILL was not working had to restart it twice. So I call that morning, a technician comes out on 11/13. He finds the issue in 2 minutes. My oil line was so clogged that no oil was getting to the boiler. He shot compressed air through the line into the tank a few times and the issue was fixed, have not had an issue since. I call them now about this $500 part that I didnt need and didn't fix the issue. I called on 11/17,12/1,12/3 and now 12/7. Each time they tell me a field supervisor will call me in 24 hours. They tried to tell me the supervisor has been trying to call me and left me messages. I received ZERO missed calls and ZERO messages. Then they tell me they went over everything with the supervisor and he says it was for a separate issue. ALSO NOT TRUE. It was the same issue every single time. Would I have to call the very next day if that part fixed the problem? I don't think so. The field supervisor also put in the notes that he "discussed with the customer this was for two separate issues." HE NEVER DISCUSSED ANYTHING WITH ME! Some customer service these people have. Unbelievable. Once my contract is up I'm never using this company again. Also their oil prices are higher than everywhere else. Do not use !!! read more

The worst, and I mean WORST company for your heating needs. Back in March I ran out of propane when it was below zero for weeks. Pipes froze, I froze, it was miserable. Finally sorted it out, got a delivery and went on a budget plan. I pay $220 a month to heat a 850 square foot home. Now that's $220 every month, $2640 a year! I still get collection calls on my outstanding balance even while I'm on the budget plan. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this company. read more

This company charges more than market rate for oil delivery. In addition, they charged us over $200 for a service contract. The only time we asked them to come out and tune up the furnace, they came at the wrong time and I wasn't home. What a complete rip off. The straw that broke the camel's back was when they started calling incessantly, DESPERATE to lock us into a 2-year contract with them. Again, the ceiling price was well over the market rate, so we were like, "Wtf?" And they kept calling and calling and telling us that we were paying a premium price for premium services. My A$$!! Completely turned off with the phone calls and the fact that they missed the appointment, we did some investigating and determined that there is a significant difference in pricing among various companies. We decided to go with another company that offered a more reasonable rate. We were warned by Alyson or Alicia or whatever her name was from Region that we weren't going to be receiving their "premier" services anymore. Ha-ha, it's not like they even managed to show up when we tried to take advantage of their supposed boutique services . So, any-who, they mailed us a check for the balance of our account. However, they would not refund us the $200+ for the service contract even though we can't use it anymore. And I reiterate, when we tried to have them tune up our furnace, they didn't come at the agreed upon time. So, to sum up, this company is a rip off. They aggressively cross-sell services they don't deliver. They will call you EVERYDAY to lock you into a long-term rate. I don't know where they live but oil prices are through the roof and my husband is self employed and the only one working. We have an 3 children, an infant, and an elderly living with us. We have been struggling this year with all our bills. I had no idea that an oil company can just refuse delivery because they didn't get enough money. Mind you I paid over $1000 this month. And when I tried to make a payment plan arrangement I was denied because I couldn't commit to paying sooner than I can comfortably afford to pay Along with all the other bills we have. yelp needs a negative stars option for companies like Region. I waited till this winter, to make sure this review was at the top as the cold weather approached. I ignored the reviews, and used region anyway, don't do what I did, trust every single bad review. We moved into a house with oil heat for the first time, and our landlord used them and filled our tank. When time came for a refill, we had a little left in the tank and didn't want to run out with the snow storm coming. They refused to fill it because they stated "someone looked at the tank and it was corroded. That's fine, got landlord, he's getting new tank, could take 2 weeks(took 3). Called region for a small fill(tank wasn't leaking). Region let me run out of oil, in the middle of winter. I would have been ok with it, honestly, but i have a wife and a 5 year old. Landlord had us call the company replacing the tank(wish i could remember who it was). They had 2 guys come out in less then an hour and look at the tank. Tank did need to be replaced, but was fine for oil, and gave us 150 gallons. Replaced the tank a few weeks later. So, keep in mind that this company is perfectly willing to let your family freeze in the middle of winter when you pick an oil company. read more

I have been with Region Oil since 2009 and it has been an up and down relationship dealing with them especially in the last 6 months. Yesterday was the best service experience I have ever had with Region. My furnace stopped working and I had no heat and I called them around 430 pm before I was leaving work and they have me a service window of 7 to 10 pm, but the tech was at my house by 630. And for the first time ever the dispatcher Joe actually called me to tell me the tech was on his way as I had requested. All the 4 plus times in the fall when it took them 4 times to fix my furnace the worst dispatcher ever was working there José! He never called when the techs were on the way and the 3 times the techs were running 2 hours late Jose never called me to let me know they were running late and he was very unfriendly on the phone. I had to go all the way up to the general manager when dealing with José after telling the service manager and account rep supervisor and they all did nothing. The general manager Mike was very respectful and caring about customers experiences and he actually took the initiative to investigate the issues with service dispatch. From my experience yesterday it seems like he did initiate some new standards and office training of dispatch personnel. The service tech last night Leo #610 was the best tech I have experienced in all my years with Region Oil. He was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Within 5 minutes he figured the problem was the motor coupling. He showed me that the previous tech back in October had hand cut the coupling and it was slanted and is probably why the rubber wore down. Leo replaced the coupling with the proper size oem coupling. I'm sure I will not have any more issues with the coupling now. I really wish more of the employees of Region Oil were like Leo! My five star rating is for Leo and the job he did. For the company as a whole especially with customer communication I would give them 2 stsrs. I agree with othrrs that their oil price is way too high. read more

We have been using Region since we moved to our home in 2007 and we have been very satisfied. Their service plans are very affordable and having the plan has saved us a ton of money when we did have issues with our heating system. They are very quick to respond and the office personnel are always courteous and professional! read more

I would like to thank Tom and Glenn of region oil on the awesome job they did putting in our new oil tank. They were on time and friendly. We have a classic car that had to moved out of our garage in order to get the tank out... They took every precaution to make sure the car was not damaged.
