My 87 year old mothers air conditioner was not working this past July 2014. Keil had been servicing the unit for years. She called them, and several days later(with 90 degree heat) they returned and stated the unit was dead. They told her she needed a new "whole house system". The cost was $8800. They stated the unit could not be charged! My mother was hesitant due to the cost, but it was hot. She was going to the library to seek relief. They offered her a loan at 9.9%. They scheduled the work for one week later. Her sons got involved, and we had a second opinion come out. They immediately were able to charge the system, and although her system was old, there was no immediated need to replace the unit. We were curious about the cost if we did, and the replacement cost for compressor the air handler was $6000.
This company is criminal leaving an elderly individual, or any individual, in 90 degree heat. People die in these conditions. For them to take advantage like this is terrible. As a side note, my mother cancelled the installation 4 days prior, but she still received a VISA card for $8800 which she now needs to deal with. My mothers house is small, and to overcharge like this! As a side note, her original unit is working so well, she states it is too cold. It has never worked this well. My guess is they left her for years with minimal charge in the system. Stay away from this company!!! read more
